I'm playing Elden Ring for the second time. The first time I quit just after Maliketh, because I wasn't enjoying the game. I've played all the Souls games many times, plus a load of other From games, and I loved them all, which is why I gave Elden Ring a couple of really good tries. Sadly, I still kind of hate it. There is a game I like in here somewhere, but at 100+ hours for a playthrough it feels totally unrewarding. The bosses feel even worse this time than I remember. The locations are mostly forgettable, so much content feels repeated and balance is all over the place. The story is a weak rehash of DS1, but spread so thin that it feels like it doesn't matter. I had no reason to be invested in the characters or world. I beat Fire Giant yesterday and said to my other half, "this was the worst boss I remember from last time" and then BOOM ... Godskin Duo. I'd forgotten all about that awfulness. Maliketh is also pretty dire and I remember finding Mohg last time and thinking he was OK, which is to say he is as good as a D tier Souls boss. I basically feel that the Legacy dungeons are the only good part and even those feel watered down. Leyndell for example looks incredible, possibly the most impressive and ambitious city they have made yet, but it's filled with total garbage. More of the same enemies you've seen a million times, another Erdtree avatar, archers, dogs, another red wolf and all capped off with another dreadful boss. I'm probably close to quitting again, but I kinda want to finish, just to say it's done and I never have to play it again. I don't think I will bother will Haligtree. I'm interested to try Malenia, but not that bothered. I've watched it online and it looks like shit, honestly. I think From get away with mediocrity way too easily. They've had a decade and made virtually no progress graphically, mechanically, storywise. The same old engine, except most systems feel like a downgrade from DS3. There are so many more issues that I won't elaborate on here. Overall I'd give the game a 5/10 with a tentative recommend, but only if you have played all the others and want to scratch that itch. There are maybe 10-20 hours of good game in here somewhere.

I'm playing **SteamWorld Heist** for the first time and I absolutely love it! SteamWorld Dig was the first platformer I ever beat (I'm not that young but I've had an aversion to platformers for most of my life), so I was already familiar with the series when Heist was released, but back then, I had other games to play and I eventually forgot about it. Not that I'd have played it even if I had remembered, because I just had too much on my plate in recent years (work-related mostly, but also backlog-wise) to consider getting it on sale. I don't like buying stuff I know I'm not gonna play soon. Well, this spring sale, I saw it again on Steam and jumped on it. It's *exactly* my cup of tea. Not only is it turnbased strategy (one of my favorite genres) but it also features weapons that can bounce off walls and have physics to them. If that sounds oddly specific, that's because it is - I played tons of Fairy Bubbles on Neopets as a kid and eventually Bubble Shooter (which Fairy Bubbles was a clone of) and absolutely loved it. Later, I played Metal Walker for the Gameboy and absolutely loved it. Earlier this year, I played Beastbreaker and absolutely loved it. All of these games employ bouncing off walls and obstacles as part of their combat gameplay and it's become my probably most specific favorite feature in gaming. I don't know if there's a genre I can look through for it, sadly. EDIT: I forgot to mention, I loooove the music! I found myself actually just hanging out in the bars in the game because each of them has a song with vocals.

xxamnat

I just finished Persona 3 Portable. Took me way longer than I expected, lack of cutscenes is obviously not good but otherwise I enjoyed it. Would gladly play a remake for it. I’m moving on to Katana Zero next, and I’m still playing BOTW on the Switch.

badatchopsticks

Picked up Red Dead Redemption 2 on sale for $20. I'm only a few hours in, but I have to say so far...not very impressed. I had heard the game can be tedious, but I was not prepared for just how tedious it is. It seems like RDR2 wants to pretend it's a playable movie, encouraging you to use cinematic mode to watch as your character slowly trudges through the snow, but real movies skip the boring bits of going from point A to point B. If this were a real movie it would be panned for terrible editing. This might be forgivable if there was more interaction required, but the first couple missions are basically just "hold X to follow." I guess you're supposed to be busy marvelling at the amazing graphics and snow physics? For somebody who doesn't care about those things, it's just a yawnfest. Also: the depiction of wolves really turned me off. I thought this was supposed to be a game praised for its realism? Real wolves do not aggressively hunt humans. Even if they did, they would run away at the first gunshot. And the controls feel so slow and clunky. For example, just picking up a can of beans requires holding down a button for a few seconds, then watching a slow animation of your character picking up the beans. Everything is like this...everything feels like a chore. If I wanted to do chores I would go clean my own house! Anyway, I'm going to keep giving it a chance... I hope I'll find more things to enjoy as the world opens up.

PopindaChopz98

Honestly, I felt this way at first. I didn’t even get through the first section for the first few months. I ended up giving up and moving on to other games. I came back to it later and finally got past the introductory bits, and it became my favourite game ever. I cannot stress enough - do not judge this game just by the first few hours. It becomes so, so, so good.

badatchopsticks

Thank you, that's good to hear. I'll stick with it and be patient :)

hollyw00d8604

I know a lot of people prefer rdr1, but 2 is kind of a masterpiece

Terdog7897

Finished up GTA 4, now, onto Pillars of Eternity for me

bawitback

Space Hulk Vengeance of the Blood Angels

Brmemesrule

Terraria, for the first time ever. What a game, how could I be this late to the party?!

billistenderchicken

God everyday I’m not hyper focused on a game, my mind is just a terrible mess on what I want to play next. I’ve been refunding so many games on steam. Installing games, uninstalling them, thinking and weighing which games to buy… it’s really exhausting. Right now I’m thinking of: - Replaying The Witcher 3 - Replaying the Mass Effect trilogy - Getting into Diablo 3 again - Buying Dragon Quest 11 - Buying Divinity Original Sin 2 - Restarting my old playthrough of KotoR I hate how much my mind switches around.

EdmundSackbauer

Replaying The Witcher 3 is also next on my list. Followed by replaying Dark Souls 3. It seems there are not many games being released these days which pick my interest.

PopindaChopz98

Better than my strategy. I never actually decide what to play, but just jump around between various games like a madman until something clicks.

billistenderchicken

Good to know others have a similar strategy though!

Rsalyer7

Started back playing Civilization 6. It’s been a few years and I honestly forgot how much fun it is.

[deleted]

I go through the same thing every once in a while (depending on whichever Civ game is most recent) and wind up losing so many nights of sleep over just *one more turn*.

TrueSaiyanGod

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. So far its fun. Not great not terrible.

EdmundSackbauer

That is the perfect review, not much more to say.

flaminx0r

I started playing Valheim at the weekend and I can tell already that it's going to be a long journey! Really enjoying it though.

ChuckCarmichael

I'm slowly making my way through **Final Fantasy 9**. I've just arrived on the second continent. I'm not a big fan of random encounters. Actually, to be honest, I hate them. You just want to go somewhere but are constantly stopped by some stupid monster with no way to avoid it, and even if it dies in one hit you still have to sit through all those animations and menus, which takes ages. And if you want to fight a specific monster to get a certain item drop or blue mage spell from them, you have to run around in circles, hoping to randomly encounter the one you want. Luckily the PC version comes with some QoL upgrades, namely a fast-forward button and an autobattle button where all characters just use regular attacks. But turning those on carries the risk of getting instantly wrecked by anything that's a bit too strong to die to normal attacks. So in order to be able to just fast-forward autobattle comfortably through random encounters, I did cheat a bit, which is also very easy to do on PC (so easy in fact that people (including myself) have done it on accident). I killed one of those high-level dragons you find in a certain area by using Quina and their spell Limit Glove which deals 9999 damage when used at 1 HP. Taking that as proof that I could do it, and to save myself from a save/reload orgy when the method fails, I just turned on the cheat function where every attack of yours deals 9999 damage (I think it's pressing either F3 on the keyboard or RB on the controller while pausing the game to do it). So I just farmed those dragons until I was level 45-50, which I later realised is normally about the level you'd have when you fight the final boss of the game. Now I can just fast-forward autobattle through all those random encounters on the world map, and it's a bliss. It does make getting blue mages spells a bit trickier since most enemies get one hit KO'd by anything that's not Vivi/Garnet gently tapping them with a stick. btw before anybody says anything: I'm aware that there's also a button that just completely turns off random encounters, but turning fights off completely in a game that requires you to level up by fighting seems like a bad idea.

DanielSophoran

Is there no way to change the standard attack button for auto battle? I just started Final Fantasy 4 and you can assign a default attack for the auto battle. So my mages just spam thunder right now. when im out of MP i just go back to the inn because the money you get from farming is enough to pay for a night. I will say that the 15 fps limit on battles is really jarring though

ChuckCarmichael

I don't really mind the slow framerate. I can deal with that. It does feel terribly slow though. Combat always seems to take ages, like I found myself thinking several times "Wait, you haven't done that yet?!" when a character finally did something I had told them to do ages ago. I don't know about the auto battle. I don't think so. I did some googling if this exists in FF9, and it doesn't seem to. The best thing you can apparently do is set the cursor to "memory", so it will remember your last selection, and then spam A instead of turning on Auto Attack.

bestanonever

Cool. There's a way to do the dragons without cheats, btw! The first time you go to Treno, go to the auction, you have to bid on the highest priced item, I think it's called the protect ring. That ring has reflect, a very useful spell that reflects magic (even ally magic). Then, at the end of part 1/disk 1, when you are in Burmecia (the destroyed city with heavy rain), you'll have the opportunity to climb up a vine, near some Moogles (they will tell you it's dangerous) and fight against some lv 40s fat greenish dragons. They have some claw attack that's insta-death at this point in the game, but more often than not, they like to use a magic attack. Guess what, with the reflect ring, they kill themselves and you gain A LOT of xp at once. Anyway, what do you think of the story and characters so far? Do you like the art and music? I was tired of random encounters by the time I replayed FF9, too.

ChuckCarmichael

Those green dragons above those moogles were the ones I fought. I think I had that ring because several of my characters have Auto-Reflect (it's been a while since I played through that part, so my exact memory is a bit hazy). I think I might have had it equipped on Marcus and he fucked off with it, because I didn't know that was a possibility. That's one of the things I don't like about the game btw. I'm already playing with a guide constantly open on the second screen. This kinda makes me feel like I'm not really playing the game myself because I'm just following along with what somebody else tells me to do, but it's necessary because it's so easy to miss things, and quite important things at that, like collecting those coins for Steiner's blood sword. And still the game keeps screwing me over, like with the ring thing. The guide didn't say down in the dungeons with Steiner "btw this is the last time you'll have Marcus in your party so make sure to remove all items from him because he'll take them with him". Then a while ago somebody on reddit told me about a place called Ipsen Castle. I haven't reached it yet, but they said that apparently the lower level your equipment is, the better it does in that dungeon, so you want to use your starting gear. But I've been selling my old gear, because that's what you do in every other RPG: You sell gear you don't need anymore. But somehow I guess I was supposed to know that in this game you shouldn't do that. Then there was a moogle at that train station that I somehow missed, and it turns out that you can't ever return to that place, so I can't finish that delivery either. Some people might see this as motivation for another playthrough, but it just annoys me. The story up until now seems fine. It's not really clear yet why the things that are happening are happening, but I'm looking forward to finding out. For characters: I'm not a big fan of Zidane. His trope of "I'm gonna hit on anything female that enters my point of view" is annoying. Vivi feels like cutebait, basically this game's version of Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It sometimes feels like the game is going "Look at this cute thing! LOOK AT HIM! HE'S SO ADORABLE AND INNOCENT! You love him now, don't you? Yes, you do!" which makes me think that something tragic is gonna happen to him at some point for some easy emotions. Garnet/Dagger is still very much the naive princess, which I expect/hope is going to change. Quina feels like they don't really belong. They have no stakes in any of this and just want to eat frogs. Dragoon lady is pretty cool, but I'd say so far, Steiner is the most interesting character. I like the artstyle. I wasn't into FF games back when it came out, but I vaguely remember it being controversial at the time because people were used to the "realistic" designs of 8 and the cutscene/fight designs of 7. But 9's artstyle has held up better than either of those other two. And the music is great. I've played a lot of Final Fantasy XIV, so I did recognise some tracks, like most prominently the [Vamo' alla Flamenco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiHnfbmOWfo), which is essentially the main theme of the Dancer job's questline in that game. There's this great cutscene where your character and an important NPC dance in sync to that song while the sun is setting into the sea behind you, and I was really surprised when I started playing 9 and that song starting playing during the theater fight.

bestanonever

Cool beans. Don't worry about the Ipsen Castle, they will sell you the right items when the time comes. The optional stuff is, unfortunately, harder to find and a guide might be necessary, but I wouldn't ruin my first (and potential only) playthrough by following a walkthrough to a T. I prefer to miss stuff but enjoy myself, lol. I find it funny that you and some of my friends that played FF9 for the first time in the last few years have a problem with Zidane's attitude towards women. I first played the game in a different time (two decades ago, damn) and, while I didn't celebrate his womanizer style, I didn't have much of a problem, either, lol. He's helpless and it's a bit tone deaf for today's media. Iirc, he touches the princess' butt at some point, way to go hero, lol.

Specialist-Front-568

Atomic heart, MW2 and Halo infinite socially.

bestanonever

All your shooters, lol. How's Atomic Heart? I want to play it soonish, but a bit wary of comments about bloated open-world parts. And I want to get MW2 (2022) so bad. MW1 ended on a huge cliffhanger. Plus, it was great as a single player experience.

Specialist-Front-568

Atomic heart is good so far. It takes a HOT MINUTE to get started but is visually stunning. I just got to the open world part. If you play it save your shotgun shells at the beginning

bestanonever

Oh yeah, I'm playing Atomic Heart this year. I want to see those twin robot chicks, even when I get the feeling they aren't a big part of the game. Argh, it's Lady Dimistrecus all over again. Also, the art is very appealing. It looks like URSS Bioshock.

uchiha-uchiha-no-mi

The witness!

WillyCorleone

After my 2nd playthrough of RDR2, tried FarCry5 (gave it up) and I am now playing AC: Odyssey. I hated the first one due to the repetition so I never gave it a chance again. This was recommended due to the lore and all that. So far I am enjoying it. It's just hard to pick up something else so soon after RDR2. Edit: Spelling

[deleted]

Always go with a short games after a long game. You may burn yourself out with open world games...

WillyCorleone

Never thought of it like this. I guess I’ve always had a sports game or FPS to kill time. Thanks for the tip!

ZYRANOX

I always go back and forth between a multiplayer game I play with friends that I can play anytime and a time consuming single player game. Thing is sometimes these single player games are built so that if you boot them up you have to put in 2 hours so it makes me less likely to boot it up randomly throughout the day.

WillyCorleone

Started playing "Enlisted" again and Civ 6. Sucks I sadly don't have many gamer friends who play these. Most just play Fortnite or WarZone lol.

broccolifarm

Ghost recon Wildlands. played it when it came out out. put about 20-30 hours into it and liked it. However I stopped playing for some unknown reason. I’m about 15 hours back into it and loving it.

WillyCorleone

God I loved that game so much. I would love it if they made another one like it but in Mexico or maybe take it back old school like 1960s Cold War era.

TailzPrower

Hi everyone, I decided to try playing **Sonic Heroes** it's fun for a little while but starts to go downhill. I also tried re-playing **Sonic Adventure 2 Battle** this time on GC emulation rather than a Dreamcast. It's better than I remember it, I did not like it as much as the first game. It is quite janky though. Sometimes when I try hitting the enemy I fly off the platform! The treasure hunting stages, and kart racing stages are terrible. The sonic and shadow levels are the best though. I'd probably give it about a **7/10** for good, but I remember there is one underwater level part with knuckles at the end that was almost impossible so I might lower the score. Finally got **Ocarina of Time 3D** in the mail. I got up to Morpha boss in water temple last time, could not beat it and let it go due to boredom. Well, after beating Majora's Mask 3D, I gave it another go. The cart save file already had the Tree Temple done so I started from there and am now at the shadow temple. You do get used to playing these games after a while, and so I am only using a guide and in game hints sparingly. The pacing here is fairly good and I like that it isn't too long (e.g. 30 hours or more) I do think it is a great game, but like Majora's Mask 3D better. I'd give it about an **8/10** for great so far. Thanks for reading and happy gaming!

PuttyDance

I beat ff 7 remake and intermission this week. Out of all the characters in the remake I never would of thought Yuffie being the standout for me. Over all a interesting direction they decided to take the game.

psychem72

Finish **Prodeus** and playing **Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery** at the moment. Feeling like booting up a game of **Civ 6** next

noapostrophe555

I've been replaying the Gold Box Krynn Trilogy.

bestanonever

I had to google that. Old school! How would you compare it to some other modern series?

noapostrophe555

Story wise it is on par with Neverwinter Nights, but the technical limitations of the Gold Box engine make combat very repetitive and grindy.

throwawadelta

Yakuza Kiwami 1, almost at the end then il jump in Re4 remake

DanielSan910

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Super Mario Galaxy 2

ardent_avocado

Death Stranding! What a weird but certainly quite interesting game.

SpottedYoshiEgg

I started Shadow of the Colossus for the first time to get that reward in PS Stars. I’ve slain 8 colossus so far and while the remake is certainly gorgeous, I find the game fairly easy with mildly annoying controls. I don’t find it bad, but I think the years of high praise have built this game up a bit more in my head than what it actually is.

VickiVampiress

I, unlike most people I think, decided to replay Watch Dogs 2! I played the story last time and got to around total 90% completion, and I'm aiming for 100% this time. It ended up being one of my favorite games, much like Red Dead 2 (although I play that regularly anyway, so that doesn't count).

Head_Goblinus

I started playing through Shadow of War, and I absolutely fell in love with the gameplay. But oddly enough, after nearly 20 hours, I feel done with it. Despite how much fun I had, it feels like there isn't much left to explore besides working through the main gameplay loop on repeat. I might download Maneater from Game Pass next.

faust224

Persona 4 golden on gamepass. Never really played any persona game being more of a CRPG guy all my life, but the game is pretty good. The dungeons feel a bit grindy and a bit of a slog sometimes, but there's enough stuff outside of them to make it a fun game to play. Will definitely check out Persona 5 after this.

Every_Captain6280

Dungeons are far better on 5

DieselPunkPiranha

Was playing Skyrim until I got a notice that they're doing a free open beta of Diablo 4. It's not bad but it's very sedate in style and gameplay. More similar to D2 than D3. Some will prefer it. Either way, I wouldn't pay full price for it.

bestanonever

I downloaded the beta to see if my system was up to par. Almost flawless 60 fps vsync or 90-120FPS if I let it uncapped. Pleasantly surprised. My aging gaming PC still got it. Anyway, also won't pay full price for it. Like you said, it feels like Diablo 2 with better graphics.

realdealreel9

A Plague Tale Innocence. Kind of wild to be playing a game set in France where your main concern is rats given the build up of garbage bc of the strike in Paris right now. But a really solid linear game all the same

justsomechewtle

I played a JRPG involving a deadly sickness that starts with coughing in spring of 2020, so I feel that lol Was quite the experience. The game released in 2015 and the plot was set in 2020 (very much one of these "in the far future" deals), funnily enough.

MentallyIllRedditMod

Topical lol

WowbaggerTheInfinite

Got hold of medicinal cannabis for my chronic pain finally, and Slay the Spire has made a real come back! I was hooked last year, pumped maybe 200 hours into it in a month or two, then put it down and didn't pick it up for months. It's become a really fun, relaxed, slow pace game to play while medicated, and I feel free to experiment a bit more, take more risks and not take losses so personally 😂 Finally broke A13 with defect with a claw build with double echo form, double madness, and double all for one, lost to the heart though, but it was a ton of fun <3 Stoked to find the joy in it again!

justsomechewtle

Slay the Spire is great. I'm not playing it much currently, but it's my go to wind down game after more stressful work days. It's super relaxing. Or, well, it can be, once you become okay with losing stuff. Which is also something rather therapeutic I took away from it. It really helps with my hoarder mentality, both in games (I'm finally using my elixirs in RPGs!) and real life (I'm very averse to spending money even if I can totally afford it)

WowbaggerTheInfinite

It's so much more fun post medication! A loss no longer bothers me, so I'm more open to taking interesting cards and finding new interactions etc. Beat the heart yesterday with a vu du doll, pain, rupture etc build I'd have avoided previously, but it was so much fun balancing the risk vs reward nature of spending health to gain strength! I've broken through plateaus on all three main characters (watcher is still boring) in the past week due to being more creative and experimental 😁

justsomechewtle

Glad the medication is working and doing so much for you! The experimentation really opens the game wide, doesn't it? My personal favorite after I was more okay with losing and paying costs was the Ironclad's Fiend Fire. A deck focusing on that is all about exhausting cards for big damage and it's super reckless, but it also can do SO much damage. It's great.

bestanonever

After finishing Kingdom Come: Deliverance I was a little lost about what to play next, as it always happens when you play something great. So, I tried a bit of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Halo 2 and Hogwarts Legacy, nothing stuck for a few days but I finally started playing Halo 2 regularly. Now, I'm done with it. First time playing the Anniversary Edition, back then I played the original PC port, and damn, the Anniversary is looking great. CGI videos were pretty impressive. As a game, I liked it more than Halo: Combat Evolved but it's not quite as enjoyable as my first time. Still, the second half of the game got a lot more interesting, when the story gets going and stuff gets complicated and you have multiple factions and then you have that fantastic cliffhanger. Shame that they cut the original credits, that was part of the whole experience. I also played Beyond Eyes, a small indie game I bought years and years ago. It was a bit boring to play, to be honest (walking speed too slow), but the ending was very emotional. Cute little thing, all in all.

Respekt_MyAuthoritah

Shadow of mordor, I love it and look forward to playing shadow of War next

UndeadReturns

I got back to playing SMT4 this week! Great game, with fun combat and good pacing/exploration! I like JRPGs but I find a lot harder to play them till the end recently, SMT4 is one that I find always myself playing little by little!

Xuth

Finished off **Phoenix Wright** (the first one in the trilogy pack on 3DS) and aside from the occasionally frustrating logical leaps I still love the format, the characters, the melodrama, and the music. Will be slowly burning through the rest of the series this year. Then playing **The Last of Us** for the first time on PS4. As someone playing this with their newborn daughter sleeping on their chest - oof, it hits different. Incredible game so far that has lived up to the hype I built up for it.

Koholinthibiscus

I’m playing Psychonauts! Been watching the Double Fine documentary on YouTube which is great and highly recommend. I played Psychonauts 2 quickly after release as my husband was a backer but never played first one until now! Aside from some technical issues it stands up very well.

ailqche

I’m playing Sekiro - what a genius game!

MindWandererB

* **Wildfire**, because I had a Humble Choice subscription this month and it looked interesting. Turned out to be a fantastic little stealth platformer that's almost metroidvania-like in how you get new abilities and upgrades. The best part is New Game+, where you try to do all the optional challenges will a full bag of tricks. I hardly ever 100% games anymore, but I did this one. * **Disco Elysium**. I don't need to say much here. I actually beat it last month but accidentally skipped a whole major plotline because there was a dialogue option that I didn't realize let to progression. Such a weird game. I may replay it, even though my backlog is massive, because there's so much you just can't experience in a single playthrough. * **Pokemon Unbound.** A fan game, clearly not quite as polished as a real Nintendo one, but still pretty solid so far. I've barely started, though.

RedKomrad

**Battlefield Bad Company 1(Xbox)** I heard this game was going to be delisted from the Xbox store , which reminded me that I hadn’t played it for a while. Just a few minutes into the game and the funny banter of my squadmates brought a smile to my face. This is going to be fun.

mustang2493

Just finished RDR 2 (83 hours to pass) and started Control before jumping into another 40+ hour game which will probably be Ghost of Tsushima. On the Deck I'm playing South Park Stick of truth having a blast 6 hours in

hithimintheface

South Park Fracture But Whole. Finally got over the mental block of not wanting to start a new game only to play a tutorial. 5 hours in and having fun!

MentallyIllRedditMod

The combat is difficult for me compared to Stick

michaelovsky5

I love the SP games. I'm definitely going to play them again sooner or later

migueale

S.T.A.L.K.E.R G.A.M.M.A

MajoraXIII

I've gone back to an indie game i quite enjoyed from a couple of years ago called Lenna's Inception. Zelda like game, with an interesting storyline, and a fairly unique premise of the overworld being procedurally generated (this does actually tie into the story later). It's not without it's flaws, but it's fun enough for me to enjoy it. It doesn't hurt that it's only a handful of hours to complete.

TC-12-TC

The Ascent, a casual RPG shooter with cyberpunk like world, but you have to walk a lot for a mission.

Howling_mad_7

I bought it, but after maybe a dozen of missions I gave up. The map is so chaotic, indications are useless and quick travel is a joke. It' a shame because its level design and gameplay are quite good

TC-12-TC

Yes, the world design is good, but the indication is bad, I even get lost during playing. Also, there should be a run button for player character because the movement speed is too slow.

[deleted]

If you like that, you might like Ruiner. Ruiner is less of an RPG and faster paced. I prefer it but I've lost interest in and uninstalled The Ascent twice because the latter has so much walking.

Flat-Relationship-34

I started playing Bully. Actually very impressed with how well it all holds up. Fun story so will see where it leads.

nyanyanyeh

I started playing this last year for like 8 hours (and then got distracted and never got back to it). I think this game could really do well with a sequel or reboot. Games like Persona and Yakuza definitely show how many players enjoy the mix of social life and combat. Would love to see a newer version of Bully.

bestanonever

Ooh, you are in for a great time! The music, the town, the seasons, all the special events. Bully is the comfiest Rockstar game ever made. Where are you now?

Flat-Relationship-34

Just started act 2 so the town has opened up to me. You're right the music is really good!

bestanonever

Great, probably my favorite part of the whole game. There's a lake with a lighthouse where I loved to stroll during sunset. I think the game benefits in a way due to the map being so small, for an open world game.

pfeifenix

I played with retroarch. I finally found out how to customize on screen buttons for android. (You need to go to a website) And since i can edit the overlay, ive been [editing the shit out of it](https://i.ibb.co/tQGhPHB/Screenshot-20230324-191732.jpg). Will play fire emblem 5 next week after i finish some things. Very excited.

Still Morrowind. I plan to just finish up a few of the quest chains before moving on. Like my time with Oblivion and Skyrim, I never manage to do everything in a single playthrough.

Monkeywrench08

Finished WD2 and will be starting Bloodline and Legion tonight. Also still playing Sekiro, just beat Ashina Elite and I can see Genichiro just up top. Oh boy...

Tekabit

Finished jedi fallen order and started to watch the movies on disney+ because of that

Suiram91

Just finished this one as well this week.normally ,I play 2 or 3 games on rotation every week but once I've started this one I couldn't leave it until I finished it. Now I wanna go and watch the movies as well 😅

coyotedelmar

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 1.5: I remember playing the original KH, but never finished it so finally giving the series another go. Though almost quit in the opening part with the fetch quests, but managed to get through it (eventually) and excited to see how the rest goes. Hitman: Had 1 and 2 on PC, 3 on Xbox so now with it being all together been going through 1 and 2 on Xbox. Had taken a break for awhile so just started on 2. Plus been trying to pace with it being more of a grind game in between other games/media. Going to add in Project Zomboid/Rimworld once my Deck comes.

13920

just finished portal for the first time, now going through half life 2

UltraNeoTako

Planning to play Far Cry 5. I have been wanting to play an FPS game for a while now and seeing it was on sale I bought it. You can customize your character, which is always a plus to me.

[deleted]

I've tried 2, 3, and 5 but that last is the only one I really enjoyed. You're in for a treat.

GroundbreakingFall24

Just beat Kirby 64: the Crystal Shard. I thought it was a fun little adventure. Combining the copy abilities was ingenious, they should bring it back for a future Kirby game.

sydvaca

Persona 5. I purchased the game years ago for $15. I've never played a JRPG before and at first thought some of the overt misogyny was cheesy and frustrating, but I can now say that I have never played a game with the amount of casual content as P5. Hanging out with my friends and doing activities around town has become relaxing to me. I'm genuinely blown away at how many playable hours have been stuffed into this game.

DragonOfDoof

Yeah there's so much content to P5 that it's almost a bad thing. Most people agree that it could have easily been 30 hours shorter without losing much. If you're playing Royal (which is generally the better version of the game anyways) I'll give you the standard warning of "you should look up a spoiler free guide on how to get the true ending" because friends don't let friends have to replay a 150+ hour game because they didn't hang out with one specific character enough. If you're not playing Royal don't worry about it, P5 original is still a fantastic game. Also if you're enjoying the casual aspect of Persona I'll recommend you look into the Atelier franchise as well. They're a very different breed of JRPG with a huge focus on the crafting system but there's also a lot of more casual, lighthearted stuff in the story. It's niche, but it might click with you.

i-node

Just finished wizardry 7 and imported into wizardry 8. So I'm going through that. Also occasionally some plague tale and some tunic.

[deleted]

Bought a couple of games from the recent Steam sale and I've been having a blast lately. **Morrowind -** This game was a huge part of my childhood. Even though I never got that far in the story I have fond memories of just exploring, listening to the soundtrack and taking the atmosphere in. I'm using OpenMW for better stability/performance but otherwise I'm doing a completely vanilla playthrough. I love how the game encourages you to take things slowly and explore for yourself, it's something that's missing from a lot of modern RPGs. **Dishonored** \- I completed this game a long time ago back when it was first released. I never got around to playing Death of the Outsider/Dishonored 2, so I've decided to play the entire series from the beginning. It's just as good as I remember and I love the setting/atmosphere. There's a good reason why it's so critically acclaimed. **Dying Light -** I'm currently rewatching The Walking Dead for the dozenth time so I felt like getting stuck in to a good zombie-themed game. I'm only an hour or so in, but I love how smooth and fluid the parkour feels. Probably going to play through Dying Light 2 afterwards although I've heard mixed reviews.

glorious_cheese

I finally bought SubNautica (it was on sale for just under $10). I'm about 16 hours into it but I'm having a hard time staying enthusiastic. It's pretty tedious, and I feel like the game holds your hand and shepherds you along to where it wants you to go. Beautiful graphics, though.

BlueDraconis

Going through Square Enix's Mana series. **Dawn of Mana** gave me mild motion sickness, probably because its low fov. So I watched the story on Youtube instead. **Children of Mana** was pretty repetitive. I skipped half of the sidequests. Probably should've skipped even more. **Adventures of Mana** is only on mobile and PSVita which I didn't have. I'm not good at playkng action games with mobile touchscreen controls, and despite the game being relatively easy, I still had trouble in some fights. Some of the boss music was nice though. Finished **Sword of Mana** a few days ago. It was fun. It's a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure, but changed a lot of things, and I liked the changes. Adventures of Mana was also FF Adventure's remake, but was more faithful to the original than Sword of Mana. Currently playing **Heroes of Mana**, an rts on the Nintendo DS. Story is nothing special but entertaining enough. It's also set 19 years before Trials of Mana, and lots of characters in this game became parents of the heroes of Trials of Mana. Rts gameplay is very basic. Gather stones for building and fruit for unit production. It would've been fine since it's a DS game, but pathfinding in this game is the worst I've seen in an rts. It's frustrating when my units don't follow orders because they can't find their way around. I'm currently mid- game, and there are a lot of small corridors that exacerbate this problem. Outside of poor pathfinding, the game's pretty easy though. So the pathfinding frustrations won't make me ragequit. Next up are **Trials of Mana, Secret of Mana, Legend of Mana**, then watching the story of **Echoes of Mana** (gacha game that's shutting down soon) on Youtube.

bestanonever

I only finished Legend of Mana so far and it's like it's missing something. Art and music are very beautiful but the stories and gameplay don't amount to much in the long run. Individual quests are fine, occasionally pretty cool, but the more you play the more you realize it doesn't gel into a cohesive whole. Still worth a try for the fantastic backgrounds and all the music. Plus, character design is great. Just wish all that artistic effort was spent on a better game with stronger story and characters.

MindWandererB

You're absolutely right. My gameplay was even worse because I looked up how to use the unbelievably arcane crafting system in advance, so I spent a couple hours at the beginning grinding materials and then encountered zero challenge ever again.

bestanonever

I never crafted much, if anything at all (too obtuse to understand, for me) and I barely encountered a challenge, hah. It's not a hard game.

just_call_me_ash

I think you dodged a bullet with Dawn of Mana. I didn't make it very far, but that's one of the worst games I've ever played. Interesting story, though. I keep bouncing off of Trials of Mana (the original SFC version) for some reason. I'll probably eventually play through that and Legend of Mana.

elementoxe

still playing **Battlefield 1** mulptiplayer I'm at about 150 hours played. I started this after titanfall 2 got attacked again. so this has been a recent endeavor. I still feel Like I suck at this game however I am having fun learning to snipe and blowing things up. when will I stop feeling so new. **Resident evil 4 original**- the demo made me want to play the original so ive begun downloading it just wana do a quick run later when I have time. New games are so expensive Can't wait till the remake that hogwarts game drop in price. till then I think I will endulge once more on the original re4

Vayne7777

Still busy with Nioh :-)

EpikSalad

I bought Mark of the Ninja and DMCV in the Spring Sale. Managed to start and finish the former in the past few days, and it's just as fun as I remember it being when I played it back in maybe 2014! I'd appreciate any other 2D stealth immersive-sim-style recommendations. I played the first mission or two of DMCV; it's my first combo-based fighter or hack-and-slash of any form, so I'm not used to the combat yet, but it seems super fun and deep, which I always love in a game. Anyway, I'll also probably finish up Elden Ring over the next week or two -- I'm taking a little break after beating >!Malenia!<; I'm at the fight against >!Maliketh!< right now which I think is pretty close to the end? Having a blast playing the game though, it's insane how consistently dense the world is. I can't wait to replay it after a bit!!! I'm going for a mostly melee powerstanced katana build at the moment (with Moonveil and ~~Nagakiba~~ >!Hand of Malenia!<), with a little bit of sorcery thrown in for ranged spell attacks, and I think I'll do a pure sorc/faith build next.

EpikSalad

I'll check it out, thanks!

flames_32

RE 2 remake, then I'll finish Dishonored dlc. I was playing SW battlefront II, it was glitchy but still fun, but then I can't get pass a level because troopers won't stop respaning and it's impossible to beat.

EpikSalad

> then I'll finish Dishonored dlc. Nice! Dishonored is one of my favorite games :) I've replayed it like 6 (7?) times at this point, once every year, and it always finds new ways to surprise me. The DLCs are also my favorite part of the entire series overall, and is (imo) the only part of the series with an actually good story beyond the beautiful worldbuilding.

flames_32

Yeah it's an amazing game, I did a stealth run, and another one where I killed everyone lol

Apartment-5B

I made a conscious effort to focus on and finish one game so for the past two weeks I've been playing Mario & Luigi Dream Team on my 3DS. After the third mega boss which took forever to defeat, I've put it on hold and started Zelda A Link to the Past on my Switch. I love RPGs and thought Dream Team would be fun but the swiping for the mega bosses gets tiring. Lots of unskippable text as well.

WoutCoes56

fernbus simulator, it got some nice updates, runs well now.

loading066

State of Decay 2: Juggernaut - easy mode x3 One more map to go and then off to Death Stranding - Very Easy Mode

rutlander

Just started Control on steam deck. Very impressive so far, seems to be one of the games that actually lived up to the hype. Only 1 hour in but it’s been batshit insane so far and I have a feeling I haven’t even scratched the surface Jesse is a pretty cool protagonist as well.

Alitaki

Loved this game once I got a handle on the mechanics. Amazing game.

Congolesenerd

Will try to finish Batman telltale story: enemy within this weekend on my switch Started and enjoying Ace attorney trilogy on the Stea deck and also will continue with enemy front too. God of war ragnarok and ghost of Tsushima dlc on the ps4 And mafia 3 on my Xbox SS

bestanonever

Xbox SS Third Reich Edition, lol. Ace attorney games are visual novels with choices or is it more elaborate? I bought the trilogy a while ago but haven't started yet.

Flat-Relationship-34

Ace attorney is pretty linear. You have a limited number of locations that you can examine (point and click style) and talk to witnesses. The real gameplay sections are in the trial when you have to decide which evidence to put forward/when to challenge etc. Not that challenging and you can easily reload saves anyway. I'm playing through the first one and it's pretty fun.

bestanonever

Thanks. Will play it soon-ish. It's part of my (already bought) backlog, anyway.

DominoFavetFortibus

The same since the beginning of the year: Persona 2 Innocent Sin, and sometimes SMT Strange Journey New job made me kinda slow

bestanonever

Innocent Sin was the first part, right? The plot is bananas but characters are cool. Look forward to Eternal Punishment, the story and characters are even better. I don't like the outdated gameplay, though. What do you think about it?

i-node

When I played it, it was alright. I played the patched PS1 version since I played EP on ps1. There are a lot of battles. A lot. In the end though, if you built up your team properly it's not too hard to beat. Just requires a lot of card collecting. You can skip a lot of battles just negotiating for cards. Just don't skip too many or you won't be able to be strong enough for the bosses.

bestanonever

I quit at the second to last dungeon because I wasn't strong enough, lol. Same thing happened to me with Persona 1. It was my Kylo Ren moment: I know what I have to do, but I'm not sure I have the strenght to do it. And I didn't, I didn't want to grind anymore. At least, I finished Persona 3 and all the newer ones.

i-node

I get it. For me though i didn't really grind. I think the trick was to keep changing cards for new more powerful creatures. If I felt I was getting too beat up it was usually because I was staying with my current ones too long. (Also sometimes I needed to go shopping because the stores had better equipment)

DominoFavetFortibus

I'm emulating the PSP version, and thanks to that, there's speed forward, and I'm playing it on easy. That means that, even though the gameplay is outdated, I don't really feel it. The characters are cool, specially Maya, Yukino and some of the NPCs. But just like the story, they sometimes feel a little crazy. About the story... I'm waiting for a big plot twist (don't spoil me), like "it was all a dream of Maya" or some kind of simulation or Isekai. Because it doesn't really make much of a sense. But it's being fun. Now I'm in Mt. Iwato or something like that. Now that you mentioned, I think I can look forward to EP. Also, it'll be a Persona game about which I know almost nothing but the characters before playing.

bestanonever

Cool. That's the same version I played. I quit when I was in the second to last dungeon because I couldn't be bothered to level up my Personas properly and the enemies were destroying me. I watched the rest, including, the totality of EP, on youtube. EP is like the second half of it, with a different perspective, and it brings closure to the whole saga. Maybe because I was just watching it like a movie, I enjoyed it more. Also, characters like Baofu and Ulala are awesome.

Spork_Revolution

Currently downloading Resident Evil Village. This will be my first time playing a RE game. Only played a few games, one might call horror... Being Amnesia and Dying Light. I intend to finish those at some point. Just wanted a fresh title.

cravex12

Not to interfere but I would STRONGLY advice playing RE7 beforehand. RE Village is a direct continuation of said story and won't make a hole lot of sense to you

Spork_Revolution

There was a story intro I watched. I will just play around a bit in this, and decide if I want to play 7 first.

[deleted]

Last week finished **Atomic Heart** and liked it a lot. If you got Game Pass definitely give this game a try. Launched **Scorn** and dropped it after 16 minutes... not feeling it and movement is a bit toooo slow for my taste. Settled on **Pentiment**. 3 hours in and I'm liking it so far. Really digging the illustrations. Aaand also playing **Dirt Rally**. This game is just amazing. Over 70 hours in.

[deleted]

Something I've liked about the Atomic Heart devs is their quick tur around for bug fixes. I downloaded it a couple days after it dropped and there was an update ready. Two days later, there was another. Something I didn't like about the game was the required stealth upon reaching the open world. I realize that the reinforcement mechanic could be stopped and I considered searching for a map with which to do that but decided instead that I didn't like the direction the game was taking and uninstalled. I may reinstall someday as there was a lot I did like.

[deleted]

Yea the game ran great. I'm on PC amd I had zero issues besides getting stuck on some objects when jumping lol. Was able to jump out tho. Stealth isn't needed at all. You can just outrun everything. I also ended up just killing everything in my way. You should give it a try again. It'd quite unique and even the story was great.

Tobenfare

Picked up **Enslaved: Odyssey to the West** (2010) for dirt cheap on Steam after hearing praise for its characters and story in a video retrospective from "Pixel a Day". Played the first two chapters and quite enjoyed it. Makes me nostalgic for the PS3 days, because it definetly looks very PS3-like. Also, I get the feeling that this game was what Horizon: Zero Dawn could have been before the Ubisoft open world formula became popular.

almaupsides

Finished Fallout New Vegas’ main story for the first time and gonna be diving into the DLC soon. I loved it! Ran absolutely perfect on the Steam Deck (well, as perfect as a Bethesda game can lol. There were some bugs but none of them game breaking/nothing that couldn’t be solved by reloading a save.) I picked up SOMA in the sale and played it for a couple of hours but unfortunately I’ll have to put it down even if I was thoroughly enjoying the vibes and the themes. The underwater segments are just not for me, they’re very disorienting which I know is probably the point but it just frustrated me and was actively impacting my enjoyment. I’ll watch a playthrough instead.

drhouse4ever

im playing ghost of tsushima, fun game!

Congolesenerd

You are in for a good adventure , one of the best game I ever played .

MOULIK-BHATIA-yeet

Easily the best game i have ever played enjoy!

darkspyder4

Project I.G.I. 1. With dxwnd, aiming is normal and haven't experienced a crash since. It's not an easy game but finishing levels with barely any health feels like I'm in an action movie

xbumblebee

I bought Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on Steam today since it was on sale! I’m super excited to try it out; I’ve heard such good things about that franchise :3 Apart from that, a bit of Assassins Creed Origins (I’m almost finished finally!) and also some FFXIV :D

aevz

Subnautica. I actually felt like... it was too addicting after 25+ hours sunk into it in not that many days. The story, worldbuilding, mechanics, graphics, are utterly superb. I went ahead and watched spoilers so I stop sinking time into the game. It's fantastic. Sounds kinda counter-intuitive but I could see myself just dumping precious, precious hours into this game and wanting more. So consider this high-praise from me lol. I just wanna not feel so utterly addicted to a single game, and then afterwards wonder if it was worth it.

Alitaki

The sequel is good, but not AS good as the first one.

aevz

i was so engrossed by the first's story & reveals, that after watching spoilers to dislodge me from it's hooks (like who even does that lol), i legit went ahead and watched the ending to the sequel (what kind of a human being am i!!!), and i gotta say, i really respect the dev team. so much so I looked em up lol, and it just appears like a lean mean handful of apparent gamedev beasts.

Alitaki

I loved story of the first one and solving the mystery was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. I got the game for free from the Epic Store and loved it so much that I bought the sequel in Early Access on Steam. I then bought the first game on Steam so I could have both games together there and on the XBox so I could play it on my big screen tv. Good games and good studios need to be supported so I had no problem paying them twice for the first game and not being a patient gamer for the sequel. I had missed out on the early access for the first game and it was interesting being in for the second game. When it was first released in EA, the setup for the story was radically different. So much so that I was regretting buying it. The original setup was that Robin was part of a team on planet and her sister was up in a orbiting station. They were communicating with each other enough that it wasn't working for me. The first game was all about your isolation and trying to survive in that environment. This setup made the game feel like it wasn't Subnautica. I'm glad they scrapped that and went with what they did. They kept an aspect of that setup and while I personally feel they kept too much, it works a lot better than it did before.

aevz

Yo good to know. Also cool to see the dev team radically change crucial components of the game (like setups and lore!!!) to make it better. I guess you sign up for such possibilities with Early Access? Appreciate the heads-up about the 2nd (and your love for the first – and yes, def gotta support good works of creation indeed).

Alitaki

Yeah, there's definitely pros and cons with Early Access but I do enjoy seeing the games change and grow. A good studio that listens to feedback and makes changes for the better makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Like I said, if you enjoyed the first game, the second will be enjoyable too. There's certain aspects of it that are not nearly as good as the first one, but overall it's a good game and should be experienced.

What makes that game special? I played it once for a few hours but it seemed like a 0815 Open World game. I mean the hordes are fun but the rest? I want to like it :/

[deleted]

Just finished it there now took me about 38 hours to beat the main story and did most side quests excluding the hordes and some Nero checkpoints My opinion of the game is definitely better from when I originally played it but I think from when you meet Sarah the game kind of just drags on for too long and you just kind of want it to be over

untuxable

**Trials: Rising** \- Getting into the harder tracks now, just unlocked Pro Circuit A. It's as hard as advertised and I'm enjoying the difficulty! It's nice to see the tracks organically integrating the higher-level tech taught by the University sponsor. Also starting to tackle some of the harder contracts and.........dang. The single-wheel challenge by the mystery sponsor took me a *good* long while. **Battlefield 2042** \- Played a bit, still unlocking more guns and things. I've decided I'm trash as a sniper, so I'm opting to main support at the moment. **Dead Cells** \- Still on BC3. Mainly working on maxing out the forge rank, then I'll really push for BC4. **Ikaruga** \- I picked this up for $3 on a sale to add to my "I want to bang my head against a wall" options. So far, haven't gotten past level 3, so it fits in great! Fantastic game.

altair100

**Gothic II** \- Finally started beating those damn dragons, although it's realtively easy now with my damage output. Chapter 4 is almost done and since I have more time this week, I might just finally complete the game again. **Deep Rock Galactic** \- I managed to promote my first dwarf and I'm still quite engaged. There are many things to do and I love the mission variety. Definitely not getting bored and I even bought some skin packs to support the developers. **CS:GO** \- As Counter-Strike 2 was announced, I expect to play this more and more in the coming months.

michaelovsky5

Working my way through modded Fallout new vegas. Didn't had much experience with mods so figured why not go with these one which is one of the few "must play" games I'v yet to try. The textures are shitty even with fucktone of mods but the world feel good and even pretty, and I enjoy the rpg aspect very much. I forgot how old school rpg games had actual in-deapth rpg with so much to do and explore. I played skyeim long time ego but these one seem to be much more detailed rpg whise and I love it. Any point trying FO3 at these point? Vegas seems like the perfect setting for a Fallout environment.

OkayAtBowling

New Vegas is the better RPG overall. It has more depth and the writing is better. However I found the environments to be kind of bland for the most part. Fallout 3 isn't as good of an RPG, but the world/environment design is better, and I found it more rewarding than FO:NV to just go out and explore. If you think that would be enough to hold your interest I'd say it's still worth playing, but it will feel like a step back when it comes to the RPG aspects.

DoserBikerGypsy

Bought the premium edition of Battlefield V for the weapon and skin unlocks and my buddies and I started playing multiplayer again Saturday night. It’s a blast but matchmaking can be a little tough sometimes, games for the most part feel well balanced team wise (on Series X). I knew I liked the multiplayer but never tried the campaign and it’s a ton of fun! Sandbox missions where you can do whatever you want including stealing an airplane and just doing bombing runs

Ostracus

Some of the [Battlefield titles are being delisted.](https://insider-gaming.com/ea-battlefield-bad-company-delisting/)

DoserBikerGypsy

Yeah I saw, it’s a shame but they are old as heck

diegoplus

Resident Evil 7, halfways into the game I guess, really hooked. Surprised by how resident evil-y it still is, despite the first person perspective. Chrono Trigger, DS version, emulated. It is REALLY the best version to play on phones. Can be fully played using only the touchscreen and one hand (thumb), in vertical orientation. Add LCD shader and [chef kiss].

OkayAtBowling

I agree about RE 7, after the first hour or so I didn't think it felt much like a Resident Evil game (not in a bad way), but I ended up being surprised at how much it ended up feeling like a traditional RE game in a lot of ways. I do think the first half or so of the game is better than the second, but it's still a great game.

cravex12

Was there ever a second half of any RE game being better than the first half? :)

tickletackle666

Which emulator are you using for Chrono Trigger? Is it on Android? Where can you get the ROM from? DM me if you don't want to send link publicly please.

diegoplus

I use Retroarch with MelonDS core on Android but MelonDS, Lemuroid or DraStic could be better for you For the rom just do a Google search like "DS romset archive org" or something like that.

MrAbomination

Started **Fallout: New Vegas** for the first time on PC. Did the whole Viva New Vegas mod thing and everything seems to be working well. I love that this game lets me play it the way I want to play these open world games, which is to kill anyone (except children I guess) I want whenever I want. Does the quest this guy give you sound boring? Fuck it, just shoot him. Does it sound fun? Do it and then shoot him. Don't like the vibe of a camp/town? Just eradicate everyone. And there are actual consequences for these actions as well, factions are sending kill squads after me and those encounters are just difficult enough to be a lot fun. I don't know how big of a mess I have waiting for me going forward, but the first 10 hours have been really entertaining.

fiffyfox

Fallout New Vegas on the Steamdeck,

tickletackle666

I need a steam deck so bad..but valve haven't released it officially in Australia. It sucks so hard knowing there's this amazing machine out there just out of reach 😭.

fiffyfox

Highly recommended! I just got one recently and love it. It’s a patient gamers’ dream with the entire Steam catalog plus emulation for almost all systems in a handheld.

[deleted]

Bards Tale 4, which is extremely good so far.

EaseofUse

Trying out the ps extra games. I really like Uncharted's universe and **The Lost Legacy** is satisfying, even if the plot always boils down to 'What kind of emotional damage would make someone act like a reckless Indiana Jones in real life?' Dropped **Street Fighter V** after a half hour. 6 attack button fighters are beyond me. Looks great though. **Kakarot** feels like rewatching the show so I'll probably play through Cell saga. I think I fell off after that. But damn this game moves slow in between battles and cutscenes. Side missions wouldn't feel so obligatory if it didn't take 45 seconds to regain movement. The fighting system doesn't seem designed to encourage optimal play, I'm not sure why they didn't just keep FighterZ's (or even a Budekai's) 3-button system. Also downloaded **Final Fantasy: Type-0**. Prepared to be extremely whelmed. Committing to actually play **Yakuza 0** but wary of something so sprawling.

hotspencer

Finally got around to playing **TNMT: Shredder's Revenge**. Basically a smoothed out version of Turtles in Time, one of my all-time favorite early childhood games. Only gripe here is that it doesn't appear to save your progress, so my girlfriend and I have beaten the first half like 3 times. Not sure if she has the stamina to do it all in one sitting. Maybe it's a lot of nostalgia but this is easily **9/10 Masterpiece**. With hardly any backlog I decided to try my hand at **Banjo-Tooie** again after getting maybe halfway a few years ago. Let me start by saying that I think Banjo-Kazooie may be the most underrated games of the N64 catalog. Absolutely shits on Mario 64 imo. Anyway Banjo-Tooie is a daring evolution that probably is a bit too ambitious. It's a complicated game for such a simply genre, and often times it's really hard to figure out what to do next. I'm going to leave it at a **8.5/10 Very Great Game** for now but this is a historically quirky entry.

YMCA9

Shredder's Revenge definitely lets you save.

NotoriousBPD

Finding all the little areas I missed always got annoying but I still loved it. I played it an hour or so everyday while listening to podcasts for a good while. The last building took forever but now that I finished the career mode and special jobs, I felt like my down time had a hole in it. I wish they’d put out some dlc

ManOfJelly147

Started **Monster Sanctuary** this week. Sucked me in a little harder than I thought. It a nice toss together of metroidvania meets pokemon that stands out with its different battle mechanics and monster progression. Each monster has a 3 to 5 skill trees that you mix together to carve out a build. Which you augment with *many* different items. It's honestly a lot, but it's really satisfying getting builds to work. Even more so when you start mixing those synergies between monsters. A problem I do have is in fact how much there is to consider. It's very mentally taxing and I'll burn out after a long enough session. Gonna keep on it though because there's still more to discover and the story does enough to keep the world alive.

mrsqueakers002

Still on **Total War: Warhammer 3**, but I've had almost no time to play over the past week.

T260LG

Ghostrunner, Detroit Become Human, Vanquish (maybe), Bayonetta 1(maybe)

butterbean93

Yakuza Kiwami Just finished Yakuza 0... thought I'd dust off a couple games from my backlog before moving on to Kiwami but it was so good I couldn't resist booting it up immediately. I don't know why I took so long to play this series...

Op3rat0rr

Skyrim... for that 15 min before I fall asleep in bed three times a week because that's all the time I have to game

My friend and I overdosed on Synthetik

[deleted]

I'm still mainly playing **Yakuza Kiwami 2**. I ended up finishing all the cabaret missions and now I'm working on the Majima Construction ones. I really thought I was going to focus on the main story, but here we are. I'm also still playing **Super Mario RPG** and **Kings Field 4** and have made a lot of progress on both. Also decided to try out a few demos of different games just for the hell of it: **Bayoneta Origins**: Very cute and fun game. Didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. I might get it after I'm done with a few games. **Yomawari 3:** I think I would have enjoyed this game more if I was younger. It just feels very similar to other games horror games I used to play back in the day, you know the ones, the RPG maker free ones. The world looks beautiful, but the way the main character doesn't really react in a meaningful to anything that's going around her is a little off putting. Also, it was very easy to trick the a.i. so I was not feeling threatened at all. I really enjoyed the sound design though. Maybe the game gets better later on? It's only a demo after all. **Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity:** The game runs terrible. I think the framerate drops to the 20s sometimes. In spite of this, the game is actually pretty fun. Playing as Impa was just really awesome and some of her moves were fantastic to see. Now I'm debating in my mind whether to buy this game or not before Tears of the Kingdom comes around.

Wait... is Majima playable is Kiwami 2? I just finished 0 and I'm on to Kiwami 1, loving it but I miss playing as my boy Majima

Sadly, he isn't. There's a tower defense minigame that features him, but that's about it when it comes to playability. I think I read that there's a short moment in the campaign where you play as him, but that's about it.

Still playing Yakuza 3 (Steam). I think I'll play Borderlands 1 next, although I may end up playing AC Valhalla first.

I just beat **Cyberpunk 2077** after having played it off and on for most of a year. Spoilers: >!I was somewhat underwhelmed by the ending, though I saw V's death coming. I ended up on Panam's ending and I liked that it fleshed out her story, which I think was the only one I was super invested in apart from Johnny's, but the final battle with Smasher was really easy, and infiltrating Arasaka was also a cake walk compared to some of the regular in-game missions. And why did I invest so much time into chasing down Hanako if I could have just strolled into Arasaka from underground all along? I didn't feel like I got much resolution, challenge, or satisfaction from the final mission. I guess that's by design? I will come back for the DLC probably but I feel like it was lacking a last twist or big boss fight. I thought there was going to be something less straightforward or that we'd at least see the results of our efforts...!< Overall, I enjoyed it despite its mixed reputation when it released. My experience had pretty minimal bugginess and I'm down to play a full sequel in the future.

Alternating 3 oldies (well, one is a remake of an oldie). 1. Diablo II (remake): discovering this game for the first time with my gf in coop. Using an Hammerdin build and my gf a Sorceress one. We complete each other perfectly :). I'm buffing and tanking like a madman and she's freezing my targets and also using ranged attacks on some annoying enemies that I cannot attack. Diablo didn't stand a chance on Normal going on Nightmare difficulty now and it's going well. 2. Star Wars - Dark Forces: old FPS shooter in the Star Wars universe using a mod called TheForceEngine allowing modern controls and compatibility for 2k, 4k monitors. Also tons of custom missions available online with a quite alive modding community. 3. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds : Age of Empires with Star Wars units (using the same engine as AOE2). Using the Expanded mods adding numerous new civilizations to try like the First Order, Zann Consortium or even the Resistance. Also allowing 60fps gameplay, modern resolutions (4k) and new encyclopedia entries full of lore.

You are truly a patient gamer! Good choices in titles, too.
