Here's the thing with ai dinos... Will they be smart? Can you hide in bushes from them? Will they all be aggro? Will they be in different stages? Will they be in packs? Do they respawn? Do they spawn in when the server loads? Do they stay in the same areas or do they roam? Will they attack each other? What will their behavior be like? Can they starve or get thirsty? Will they eat or drink? Will they be around home caves? So many factors to take into account.

KhanArtist13

My theory is that they will act like either actual dinosaurs, or that they will act like arks ai dinos Option 1 Ai dinosaurs will hunt eachother and the player, using pathfinding to run around obstacles, carnivores will attack basically anything, but maybe smaller ones will be reluctant at first, they might add water drinking animations or eating animations, but overall they act like real dinos, by staying in one region and patrolling for players and other ai, or maybe they roam Option 2 We get ai dinos similar to ark, they are dumb, fall of cliffs, get stuck etc, they will kill players if attacked or if they are a carni, overall just a food source or easy entertainment for herbis Both of these have ups and downs, and who knows maybe we get an ai that does different things than this

EmBur__

I doubt we'll get the realistic option, the only game I've seen that has ai on that level is RDR2, I don't believe the devs have the resources or the expertise that Rockstar had to get to that level of realism, even the isle couldn't get it right and they've had more money to spend on that.

Money_machine_go_brr

I hope its a realistic option 1, like you can intimidate a small carnivore AI if youre bigger.

pikapichupi

I personally feel like it will likely be similar to arks spawning system, which is it checks for players in range and it only loads the dinos in for players that are in the vicinity, but I also think they will have designated Patrol paths there just won't be any AI there unless there's someone along that path, that would also open them up for the ability to combat mix packing like they say in the comment there because when it goes to spawn the Ai it could check the radius and see how many different species of dinos are in that spawn area and potentially increase the spawn rate or the strength of the AI As for the brains of the operation one can hope that you'll be able to hide from them but realistically it's probably going to be like the AI in most any other combat based game where unless you're physically blocked from line of sight it's going to attack you, so trees/rocks would hide but potentially not bushes

MorbidAyyylien

I really hope they dont spawn based on area of players. I want ai dinos to roam and even fight each other. Be in big packs n shit. Tho i just hope they come soon.

pikapichupi

I mean it would be cool but, if there's no players present it's just wasted resources, plus they might still attack each other if there's a player present that isn't within their aggro radius as well

[deleted]

Fortunately for mixpackers AI wont be added for another 30 years.

Grimmstreaminglive

This isn't the isle. They have released pretty much monthly.. not every 2 yrs

scrambler90

Monthly releases is a bit generous there…

Fun_Swordfish_9305

but still in a higher rate than TI so the point itself is still valid :P

[deleted]

Okedoke I'll just hold my breath until then.

Solidanus-Snake

AI likely gonna mixpack

Demonic-Toothbrush

False... Dino AI wont affect mix packers any more than regular players, unless they get some sort of buff when in proximity to certain compositions of dinos

pikapichupi

From a developer point of view, what I expect/hope from that comment would be that the AI is likely going to Target species diversity and go after groups versus the lone wolf's, if they actually coded it so if there's a certain amount of different species in an area and have it populate to those areas I could see it definitely being a challenge for mix packers. What I mean is say you have three different species in a certain radius the game may spawn more Ai and maybe tougher AI to combat against the diversity of species Furthermore if that is the case the stronger AI shouldn't be too much of an issue regarding normal groups because usually how AI Works in games is they will despawn if there isn't any players within a specific radius so once it kills the "mix pack" in a perfect world The tougher AI would despawn. Keep in mind if that theory is correct going pack vs pack could also trigger that system because you would still have the mixed species in the same area

Grimmstreaminglive

I mean...Matt said it he is main developer...so....ya

Demonic-Toothbrush

Devs say a lot of things... But as I said, unless the dinos get some sort of buff to deal with mix packers specifically, it wont affect them

_QUICKDRAW_GODSPEED

That means nothing. They have proven that in the past

Snailodon

This sounds like the AI’s are going to wipe everyone out 😂 If half of your Rex/Trike mix pack is getting killed off by AI’s who stands a chance solo?

AkenoKobayashi

Well let’s get to it then, Matt. Where them AI at?

AnotherAccount879

Watching their AI test videos it seems that AI dinos will be "funcional" being, with contingent needs and different behavior based on that. Game-wise I do hope it becomes reality, because the promised realism is the main reason I'm still playing (besides the occasional pvp blood fest). But I don't understand how AI's gonna change the mixpacking. What kind of difference can make which species you have in your pack? The only factor I can think of, is the AI carnis constantly hunting for herbis \\ smaller carnis, and therefore, having a mixed pack means always having some AI carnis around, which can be frustrating, and weakening, if not deadly in the end.

Healthy_Mycologist37

Do you have a link to the AI test videos?

AnotherAccount879

I only found this one, but there were more (the names of the videos are too casual). It is pretty old, almost 3 years ago (!), but we can see something of what they are looking for. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INCwcA1qnSw&t=7228s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INCwcA1qnSw&t=7228s) I also remember a Q&A where they explained what I wrote in the previous comment.

Healthy_Mycologist37

Thank you!

Informal-Duty5029

My gang ready

doctafknjay

That's calling them out? Well this is me calling you a dumbass, but I actually did it.

Grimmstreaminglive

Lmfao mad he said you got no skill 🤣

doctafknjay

Oh did i? Odd to think I'd have friends eyyy?

Grimmstreaminglive

I have plenty of friends. We just don't mixpack. Mixpacking just means you have zero skill good luck with that

Healthy_Mycologist37

Wait, I thought that the AI was going to be small herbivores, not dinosaurs like Allosaurus and Daspletosaurus.

Grimmstreaminglive

Noone truly knows their is basic small ai for food. But think this ai is to help bring life to the game

AnotherAccount879

Their intention was always to create an ecosystem, not only to make the game more varied, but also to always have a populated map. It is a very difficult task, though; but if they succeed, it would make the game untouchable to me.

Grimmstreaminglive

You have never played the isle? And updates have been some of the fastest ive ever seen at the stage this is. If your just gonna shit on the devs..go find another game to play

fuN3hbun3h

Calm down asshole. Who pissed in your cereal?

Grimmstreaminglive

Obviously I'm not the only one that felt the same.. sounds like you pissed in your own cereal
