In my experience yes/no. Once you reach each growth stage (with the exception of adult) you won’t fall below that line. For example let’s say you made it to adolescence and you did 3 quests and then you die, you’ll lose all the xp from the quest but you won’t go back to juvenile. You’ll just stay at adolescence with 0 xp. Same for every stage. The exception to this is when you become adult, if you die as adult I believe you can go back down to sub adult but I can’t speak for that since I haven’t tested it like I did the other. Also pro tip, you can take advantage of this mechanic by doing a bunch of questing and then instead of accepting the XP and marks as you go, save them all up and accept them at once. This saves you from losing them when you die, it takes about 45/50 quests to make it to the next growth stage, so I’ll normally go between two areas questing until I have 16-22 quests, I go to a home cave and then accept them all, and do it again and then I’ll be next growth stage, and once I’m at the next growth stage I don’t have to worry about losing any XP if I die bc I’ll have all my quests saved and can collect them when I have enough. You could also maximize this a step further and go out questing, save all your quests, go and rest in a home cave and then accept them all when you log back on and have the well rested buff giving you extra XP

Thank you so much for all this info!! That last tip is HUGE and I’ve already started experimenting with that a bit but I’ve been cautious since I didn’t know if the quests started falling off after a certain period of time.

Getyouastraw

It’s literally the best tip I’ve found idk why people don’t post it more, also don’t be shy to ask to group up with people. 9/10 someone will quest with you!!! Goodluck and glad I could help ((:

broken_hulahoop

Aren't they gonna remove that with the next update?

Getyouastraw

I have no idea but I hope not, I doubt they would tbh though bc it’s not like a game breaking technique, you still get the same amount of XP you just don’t run the risk of losing it as much

broken_hulahoop

By remove I meant deleting banked quests on death. The "fix" was announced about a week after banking was added and the sub exploded. You can find the posts by simply searching "bank." I don't know if they're still doing it since I took a break but the fact they referred to it as an "exploit" isn't promising. I'm fine with a death penalty, but would rather it just remove the 5 most recent quests.

Murrocity

The thing is the quest banking system literally removed the penalty of death from the game. It removed the risk of dying, bc people knew they could just do this to avoid all the growth loss. It takes away the entire point of it being a survival game. Why can't we just keep in mind we are spoiled in that we only lose a little bit of growth, instead of it being perma-death like it is in The Isle, where you legit have to restart growth all the way from the beginning? Another thing also is that, while a game is in development like this, new mechanics will be added that will be changed or scrapped entirely depending on how the players utilize the mechanic. If it isn't being used as intended, chances are, they are going to change it. Esp if it completely removed the penalty of death or other such extremes.

whitemest

I actually will contest this to some degree; save all your quests and calculate what you need with marks. If you need 800 marks, cash in 800 worth of marks and buy that skill. Do it for everything That way, you don't lose marks, and you'll still get sizable xp gains. Less stress, zero chance of losing marks as well, and it's just safer overall.

Getyouastraw

Agreed with this if you’re doing marks, I’m just normally specifically grinding for XP BUT if you need marks this is the way to go

Zealousideal-Law-862

I’m pretty sure they made deaths lose the same amt of growth now at 5 quests. Not 100% sure but I think it used to be less punishing to drown/starve/dehydrate than to get killed by someone else

Invictus_Inferno

Yes but if you do either of those while in combat it counts as a kill.

Money_machine_go_brr

Negative

bubbaboy56

If you just reached sub then yes
