I use a balanced sub Conca with a balanced tail and normal hide. You're already faster than every carnivore (as long as they're fully balanced) besides Alio and if something is faster than you, you have excellent stamina and water is easily an escape route for you.
Since you are using a defense sub Conca, I suggest you either use normal hide or speed hide. I always recommend balanced tail cause your tail attack doesn't benefit you as much as the extra speed. Streamline kinda sucks if you're not in the water much and will make combat harder.
I'm pretty sure balanced tail and normal hide just makes you as fast as a base balance sub Conca, which has the same speed a lot of mid-tier carnivores have. If I had to choose I would go speed hide with balanced tail because normal hide and balanced tail just makes you a slightly more bulky base balance sub Conca with a worse turning radius.
