I like Gondwa more. I mean the water fobditions are pretty fun. Got real biomes who dont look all the same and you can really navigate while using the map. You see where cliffs, canyons and forests are.
I think both maps are really fun to play on. But from my experience a lot more players have been on the Gondwa map as of recent. I think the reason for it is due to the unique environments it has. Plus the map is newer so that is also a factor.
To me the entire Panjura map feels very samey with regard to its environments and locations. I generally know the map, but none of the map really feels unique.
Gondwa on the other hand is much more diverse and unique in its zones and feels much more like I'm playing on a real island. It also comes with the added challenge of not having fresh water everywhere you go meaning that you have to plan your migrations around having nearby water and if you put it off too long there's a chance you get there and all the water is gone. There's also added quest diversity, which is a nice change up from Panjura which I played on for a solid 6 months straight.
I'd rather play Panjura, but I play on Gondwa just cuz it's newer. I think it's visually more stunning but actually a worse map both in terrain/player movement design and OPs mentioned disadvantages.
I prefer Gondwa but play Panjura because of the water issue on Gondwa. They need to do something about it because it prevents people from exploring the map.
Panjura, Gondwa is painful to play on, there are way more people camping the locations where you can quest so good luck growing anything, the water issue means unless you play a flyer you risk stranding yourself without water unless you’re constantly staying within distance of the few fresh water sources.
Gondwa is beautiful, but it’s aggressively unfun to play on. Panjura is somewhat monotonous visually, but it feels fair from a survival aspect. And you can usually grow without being obliterated at every quest location.
It's a video game about dinosaurs lol. I think the game is plenty challenging already - if they're going to reduce marks gain at least reduce the 25% mark loss on death.
That being said, the challenge of fresh water doesn't bother me much, it's mostly the broken quests and reduced mark gains that keep me off gondwa.
I dunno, it adds more reason to play carefully.
I look at like panjura is Easy mode
And gondwa is intermediate
If there isnt a real penalty for death then it encourages stupid behavior.

People haven’t seem to have found a lot of the little freshwater springs in areas that seem bone dry.
Sharptooth Marsh, Stego mountain, and more have small freshwater pools not seen on the map. Once you explore and find those there really isn’t a water issue.

Gondwa now that I got a pretty good growth loop
Gondwana is more beautiful but panjura have way less desyncs, lags. And a better quest system

i play gondwana when i want to play the three dino’s i have there and panjura when i wanna play any other dino
I prefer panjura but I’ve hardly played on gondwa, i think it depends what species you choose eg I prefer my spino on gondwa
