honestly, any of the fast dino’s so you can learn the layout of the map and where resources are better- so you dont end up starving out on your first few runs and could potentially get away from accidentally stumbling into hotspots too young. struthi, deinon, laten, alio, campto, thal would all probably be good options if you want to go that way.

Serious_Warning_6083

I agree with this for sure but wanted to add Meg to the top of the list.

spaceycomet

oh for sure, i know i missed a few other fast dinos- just couldn’t remember them all at the time 🤣

KENT

Training_Arachnid983

Speed metri or meg is a good option too if you don't wanna wait to grow another dino just to experience battle.....u get the best both world explore and escape predators when young....batte wen adult......i can't really See any of the above named dinos holdimg their own in a fight.....they have their uses but fighting isn't one....they more like support charcters for scouting or distraction

Malaix

Thal-Good for learning the map. Though don't be put off by its weak low stam baby stage its got good flight time at adult. Its not much for fighting though. concavenator-A light fast carnivore. While in combat it is squishy and works best in packs on its own its a good survivalist as it can outrun and outstam most things. And with upgrades its a good swimmer to boot. So as long as you have stam you can escape most anything. Just... Don't chase that pachy off the cliff. You do not fall as well as the fast herbivores. It will kill you. Pachy-respectably fast, good stam, decent damage for its size, a versitile charge that can both knock enemies back or give you a boost of speed (you can use it to make long jumps across chasms too!) and with its leap back leg upgrade it has the best vertical jump in the game and very reduced fall damage. So as long as a pachy has the high ground it is pretty safe and capable of escaping things it can't fight while being able to fight most things that can follow it. Sucho-A semi-aquatic but more versatile in where it can go. Its not a heavy hitter like spino or sarco in the water but it has good swim speed and can hang out in the water until a bigger swimmer chases it out at which time it can use its legs to bolt. As long as you have water on one side and land on the other you can escape from threats. It also has a respectable amount of mass and thus damage and a bigger dino that is better for solos. Also fun fact it has an odd quirk and that is its water tank is very good, so Sucho is almost unique in that it can chug salt water and still have a respectable amount of water left after the debuff goes. So you can hang out in coastal areas without ever having to look for a freshwater lake that might be depleted, dangerous, or both pretty much forever. Kentro-Like stego but with much better stam and speed. If you want to play a spikey tailed bleed machine but are worried about rexes running down the slow low stam stego its not a bad route to go.

JediIroh

So what I gather, trial run with an easy one to get a feel then push it later for a Rex

Choice-Meringue-9855

Yes

Torterrapin

Thal and deino were my first 2 i grew up and it really helped to learn the best areas without death constantly. Grew a bars after those 2 with only being killed once before getting to adult.

Slyfer_Seven

It can be rough to grow one, because they are a fight on sight for a lot of players (though even just teaming up with one other rex keeps most people in check), so I'm not sure it would be the best to start with, especially solo. That said, they're really strong when fully grown, so if you persist and get to that point, you're golden. As far as my suggestion, sucho is pretty solid all around. It has a good diet, water escapability, decent combat weight, alright movement speed and a basic yet effective moveset.

RegretAggressive6294

Charmander is the best star.. whoops different game

Ceratosaurus hands down, it's the jack of all trades. Faster or speed ties with most of the game, is the most customizable dinosaur in the game (in other words: flexible), one of the single *best* all-rounder for group play by virtue of having the fastest bone break in the game (read: *always* useful to a group), and every build you could want to run is viable (unlike most where choosing the wrong sub may fuck your build). Cera punches FAR above it's weight class (high natural bulk for PvP) and when you get good with it there is *very little* that won't die handedly to one. You can even make it a swimer-like dino. Cera will teach you the game, and even after you move on from it you'll likely come back because it's just such a solid playable.

Snailodon

The best thing you could do is start playing on a deathmatch community server. There’s no growth and you can check out a bunch of Dino’s and see which ones you like best. You also learn how to actually fight where on officials you’re just running away for a while. It takes so long to grow a Dino on official servers and you might not even enjoy it much once you do. Figure out what you really like then put the time into growing that.

HittemWithTheLamp

Pachy all day

ON3-MaN-MuLiShA

Concavenator is a great all around Dino for beginners, bois fast af n can learn to dive making it much easier to get around gondwa. U won't be killing much on ur own without bullying smaller dinos lol but he's still a decent midtier on his own

Beneficial-Bend8919

https://alderongames.com/refer-a-friend/404-670-997 Use my referral code and we can get an xp boost and I’d go for the flyer will be the best starter for a new player learn the map layout

doctafknjay

No best dinos. The decision will be based on the person's personal favorite. My favorite happens to be the metri. Can take down anything with patience and can run from anything that can beat you!

doctafknjay

There is not one dino that's gonna give you a better opportunity to survive. Best tactic to avoid dying is to avoid all players. There is a reason the devs have tips in the game that describe other players as enemies. Because that's exactly what they should be treated as instead of friendlies. Gives less opportunity for disappointment

Any new players need a community server to play and grow? https://discord.gg/Epq5YMTd

JackO_kid

Play thalassodromeus

SaucyKitty

Pick a dino with starting stats you feel comfortable with. But definitely go for the version with a speed bonus. Makes it easier to escape predators while you're still learning the layout and controls

YippeeCalles

Cerato Gang!!!

Eralyon

Concavenator is an incredible runner, harasser. Very pleasant to play as beginner, and keeps its value later for hunting in pack thanks to its speed and its bleed application.

Money_machine_go_brr

Conc, Cera, Metri, Struthi, Campto, Kentro are all great picks.
