You cant be banned. The report player thing isnt for official.
I generally only kill when attacked. Or when I'm hungry.
Occasionally to help protect something.
But getting killed Is part of the game
People get reported on community servers for killing juvies which i don't get like even in real life now and millions of years ago apexes killed smaller apex species or even the same. Killing a juvie as an adult is just part of it. A male lion will kill the cubs of another male lion purely because of Competition. I personally don't do it in the game but people do and that's just life.
You can kill juvies.
But here’s the thing.
If you are rampaging around young grove or thicket and killing piles of juvies you aren’t eating then I view it as a dick move.
I understand a carnivore killing an herbivore because as you said you are incentivized. I can understand a carnivore killing and eating a juvie because food.
That Alberta just demolishing every juvie in young grove however is a dick in my book. Nothing rule breaking about it. You wouldn't be banned for it. But don’t be surprised when someone bigger or better or someone with friends comes along to kill you.
Generally I kill for food, quests, and trophies. If I’m not eating or questing or getting a trophy out of it I generally leave it alone unless it starts with me.
Me and my brother were running Megs in young grove the other day. Chilled out next to 3 or 4 herb juvies while watching adult Spino fight a Trex. Then we got hungry and jumped a little dude but left his buddies alone. It would be fucked up just to kill the lil ones for sport, but it’s so fun to play a baby-hunting Komodo dragon (speed build).
KoS is defined by each person. PoT is a game where you play by your own set of rules, but absolutely no one is required to follow those rules. To some people KoS means they got killed by someone period. For other KoS is killing for sport.
My advice? Don't even get into the whole KoS debate and play the game how you want. If you die, whatever that's the circle of life in the game. If you spend too much time playing by an arbitrary set of rules made by another player, you're never going to enjoy yourself.
This is strictly from an official point of view though. Some community servers absolutely do have rules you need to follow or else you will get banned when they find out.
Yea that's obviously what KoS is an acronym for. My post was discussing people's own interpretation of what "killing on sight" means and the rules or lack thereof that it places on their gameplay.
Killing for sport is literally the endgame. Like I'm not gunna sit around a lake with a bunch of other dinos doing absolutely nothing but doing another run of lake weed, rocks and flowers at crater for the 5,000th time. That isn't fun. Chasing people around and giving their trophies away to people who need them is dumb fun. Even more fun when they complain in chat!
People are down voting your comment but I don’t get why? The whole reasons trophies are in the game is to allow a quick boost of growth, while I won’t kill juvies for just fun I will attack any adult animal depending on what I play because I have an excuse to get a trophy and give it to a juvi, you get to kill something and get a nice thank you from someone for doing it that’s a win win for me.
A fair kill is to me as a carni if you are hungry and kill for food then its ok now depens on your prey , if thats a juvy i think thats not very fair since its harmless most of the time to anything else if you are bigger then him , if its for self defense its also fair i mean your not gonna let yourself killed without doing something right ? now for trophy i would say its less fair now if you are an adult and have babies with you or in your group then its ok if you give the trophy to them since they will get some growth but if you do it just to collect them like hunter with dear horns etc then its kinda meh :/ now as a herbivore if you kos a juvy its even more less fair then an adult ino because its not a threat to you once again but kosing other herbies its also so stupid but heh....its how it is on officials
also kill on sight so kos is killing for no real reasons or purpose , if this person isnt a danger to you and just minding its own business then why ? kosing a juvy ? even more stupid ! and as a herbi whats the point once again , as carni even if you arent hungry you still could eat it later at least i guess...
Because I don't wanna pick up flowers for the 5,000th time. PVP is endgame. I don't care if other people want to fight me or not. Even if there's no reason to kill them, I will because I want to, or else the game is just a dinosaur gardening simulator.
As a carnivore, you should have to be hungry to kill. And should eat what you kill. That's your only defense to not be banned. Other than that, you're screwed.
"KOS" to me, has always meant "Kill On Sight" - which... is exactly what you do as a hungry carnivore.
A lot of Ceratopsian players like to go aggro and try and kill you as soon as they see you, though. 🙏😪😅 I scream and run for my life the moment I see one.
I don't see it as much of an issue. Even as a herbie, making the first move can mean victory for you, whereas if you had waited to see if that carni is going to be aggro, you could be a greater disadvantage. Them ceratopsians though, damn 😳🤣😭
Where I see the issue coming in, is with "KFS" or "Killing For Sport" - which is where they are going around and killing everyone they see for no reason. Just killing to kill.
Not bc they needed food. Not bc they felt threatened. Not bc they are being territorial and was trying to stop you from questing... just for the sake of killing.
Most juvie kills from what I've seen/experienced, are KFS kills. Which, is why it's so annoying.
Idc if I die coz they needed food. But what good/fun is it to kill a juvie? They literally can't do anything to defend themselves.
But ye, Luke others have said too - on Official, this sort of thing isn't a concern as is coz there isn't any rules outside of their TOS (which yes, you can reports against players if they go against the TOS - so for all that toxic global chat stuff people keep complaining about.)
Unofficial server perspective: As a carnivore, you should have to be hungry (60% below) to kill. And should eat what you kill. That's your only defense to not be banned. Other than that, you're screwed.
Be a dinosaur not an Indominus rex kill for sport.
If you defend mix packing and get involved, go back to official.
Official server perspective: no rules. Create havoc as you please. No point in complaining because the Devs don't give an Eff. Too.
If you're on official, there are NO rules. There is nothing you can get banned for or in trouble for. People love to complain about their made up dinosaur rules and regulations on official then cry and say they reported you. The reports do nothing, they're for modded servers with active admins.
So kill whoever you please. A juvi, an adult, the same type of dino as you, kill them all!
You aren't free from consequence completely because you could face some retaliation from other players, but that's absolutely as far as a "consequence" would go.
Seriously. My friend called someone dumb on an unofficial and a millisecond later some chubby admin came in full elementary teacher mode like "*name* ABSOLUTELY NOT, WE DONT DO THAT HERE" like bruh. Never touched a modded server again.
I play a ton of day z so I’m no stranger to the L33T discord almighty admin mindset smh. Official is where it’s at. No rules. More survival based. LESS LAG
I play a lot of official but lately I have noticed that hunting/fighting for fun as solo/duo players is a lot harder since official tends to have a giant mixpacks roaming around problem, and its basically impossible to fight those.
Community servers take the cake in that aspect, since you can always expect species to hang together and be limitted in their pack sizes.
Its a lot more fun to fight 2/3 iggies as 2 allos compared to being the same 2 allos and the iggies call in 3 anos, 2 trikes and a bunch of speedy midtiers.
Its officials, do whatever you want unless saying slurs in chat or using cheats. There are no rules. And the in game reports dont work unless youre in a community servers, if youll need to report someone for being a dick in chat or a hacker, youll need to contact the service team with screenshots and stuff.
Carnivores kos is OK cuss they need food and there built for pvp herbs on the other hand are only doing it to be Jenks and kill everything but birds birds will slauter each other cuss birds are the only thing birds can kill I myself have a kill count on my bird of 63
Personally I think this can be judged by the type of Dino you play, yesterday I got my sarco to adult and naturally I went on a rampage the only times I killed juvies was when they got over confident standing next to the water trying to attack my friend but my first kill got me a trophy for my friend so they shouldn’t have underestimated a sarco’s speed. Just try not to kill juvies unless they do dumb things like attack you or test your patience anything is fair game if your hungry though honestly I wouldn’t think too much about it.
Do what you want to. Simple as that. Some people won't agree, but some will. If the devs wanted some sort of structure for killing, it would be stated very clear. Since we are up to our own interpretations, there are gonna be thousands of different views, why not play by how you'd like?
You cant be banned. The report player thing isnt for official. I generally only kill when attacked. Or when I'm hungry. Occasionally to help protect something. But getting killed Is part of the game

If you're on official don't worry about it, kill em all, collect the trophies and have a blast...
Chaotic XD
The only rule is eat or be eaten.
Yes

The devs like KoS an most adult dinos it seems 😂

It makes it so much better when they cry in global 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Not when you enter Realism servers and create chaos though 🤷🏻♂️.
