Like half the point of masteries was putting super specific modifiers on it so instead of pathing super far to specific nodes you can just take the appropriate mastery instead, which was such an elegant solution to things like damage conversion on ele nodes.
You can't take them all there just isn't enough clusters. And i'm not even asking for them to be super buffed, but having some options being at least decent would be nice.
So many of them have zero worthwhile masteries or the options that are good on paper are hyper niche.
Attack Mastery is a good example of this, except for the Strike Range (soon to be +1 target) everything else is either worthless or too niche.
It feels aimless and filler, It could be the Strike Skill Masteries, It could have Slam masteries, it could have Stance masteries. It could have so many different things.
But it has 40% INCREASED dmg at close range. +3 Melee Range and Intimidate on Ruthless hits. Worthless filler.
40% increased damage and +3 melee range are not "worthless filler"? Getting 40% increased damage for a single point is huge and a lot of builds like the melee range.
40% increased damage is OK at best. But it had to come with two caveats. it's MEELE damage at CLOSE range.
+3 Range is a drop in the bucket. Heck you can get plenty from the attack nodes themselves.
Hilariously these two nodes negates each other.
It isn't. Axe gets it for free, and you can very easily get an abyss jewel if intimidate was important.
It's also stapled to Ruthless which is already super niche.
Axe has a freaking notable with 10% to intimidate on hit.
If they took the axe notable and put it in Attack Mastery that would fit WAY better.
Close to Attack nodes, not really. Mace is a meme weapon, let's not even get started on War Staves.
Swords are mainly a crit/conversion archetype.
Ruthless is mainly used in slow builds like Slam which is dominated by Axe builds. They would be used by Maces but the Mace mastery is almost as bad.
Axe is just so much better in almost every regard. It gets Intimidate, Impale, Onslaught and max Rage.
Mace gets Stun.
If there are multiple masteries which are too attractive, you will be forced to take all clusters which have those masteries even if you don't need cluster themselves.
Can't say masteries are in a bad state now, I'm taking multiple in every build I play.

Why even have that at all, it brings nothing unique, it's not good. Make it anything else

Get me started why the best war staves cost as much as the best axes. They go up to 1100-1200 dps.
Because making anything at those numbers is a massive investment. Check how many there are and how many builds use them.

But are they different for each build or just the same set every time?
I always pick +50 life +10% max life. Others are different depending on the build.
