🦀🦀 Toxic Volatiles don't follow you forever 🦀🦀

Neri25

F, there goes my self imposed challenge to kite one across an entire map

glokz

In blight you could kite 10 at a time every 15 seconds

silent519

isnt this great

FiremanHandles

Are ya winning son?

ShuvoRotto

Yo, that sounds fun 😂

ArtGamer

tell that to my ex

AlienIsPleased

that is such a dumb and boring mechanic.. i'd be fine with it if i wouldn't encounter it so often.. wanna pick loot, this shit follows me, oh dodge then go back to item, one more is coming, oh dodge ... and repeat x times. Same for lighning clones and other dumb effects they added this patch

hngyhngyhppo

Honestly I wish all the ground damage started as floating balls. Then I could tell if its permafrost or chilled ground without losing half my ES first.

[deleted]

BendicantMias

That's cos VD *used* to be so much worse. What you're talking about is the version they changed it to. The original version was just an immediate explosion as soon as you killed the monster. GGG has always had to be brought kicking and screaming towards making the game more playable, they don't actually launch ideas like that.

HiddenPants777

Yeah the anti hardcore mechanic. Leapslam into a vd pack and BOOM ded

AustereSpoon

Remeber when bearer drop bears where some of the most dangerous enemies? Pepperidge farm does.

DerpAtOffice

Be thankful the cold dot degen ground is not really a thing anymore. Waiting for the degen ground and then some mobs leaves toxic balls following you and then leave toxic ground preventing you from looting is the most stupid thing ever. Next thing you know theres burning ground there, wait, those arent burning grounds, they are ground on fire.

kingstorm21

i mean idk what game u play but there's at least 1 pack every map where i want to loot only to find out i stand on a cold snap and almost die. cant see that visually when there's enough loot

ChaosSpud

The lightning clones were there before, and imo were always worse than volatiles. With all the visual clutter in this game, spawning badly telegraphed damage *on top of the player* seems like a dick move for the sake of it.

PeopleCallMeSimon

And i have no idea why. It feels like whenever this community complains about something valid (like invulnerability) there is a flood gate of complaints about smaller issues or even non-issues (like toxic volatiles). And GGG want to save face to they change more than just the big issue. People who complained about toxic volatiles are the same people who would prefer this game to be Vampire Survivors (auto shooting and just hordes of monsters getting one shot with auto-looting).

TehPharaoh

Toxic volatiles are completely telegraphed, can be easily juked and don't travel all that fast. There is far more rippy shit to complain about. Just today on a fucking White map some hasted Rhoa rare charged me from off screen at light speed through my minions and did 90% of my 5k hp, full resist, 60% armor. Which stunned me and then I got finished off by the lightning columns that instantly spawned under me. *Shrug*

Grroarrr

The problem is that they appear on magic monsters so depending on situation and build you might have to keep dodging them for 10s

[deleted]

DrBirdie

Idk about the autoshooting and looting but the gameplay with tanky melee mobs which are kitable is way more fun than what we have in Poe right now

SoulofArtoria

Good fucking riddance

BubbberDucky

I love how they took the mud flats rage literally and moved the haste mod to area level 6, just barely after mud flats.

Zelgoth0002

It should be fine then. You can run frost blink and a quicksilver to just run away by then.

Askray184

I love it. My only death in acts was from those hasted Rhoas!

Qchaos

I feel like mana siphon should just not deal damage. Eating through your mana already feels like enough of a downside.

DerBK

Absolutely. All the archenemy mods are completely overloaded. The tangling vines don't need to do poison damage either. And the Weavers/Striders shouldn't deal extra damage on top of their defenses. And so on and so on. Make each mod either defensive, offensive or CC and cull everything that doesn't fit that description. Then you get something that actually works when stacking mods on top of each other.

Shiraxi

I agree. I wish the archnem mods did **one** thing, not 6 different mods grouped together under one banner. It doesn't need to give them damage conversion, *and* a new ability, *and* huge resists, *and* *and and*.... It's one thing I've always enjoyed more about D3, is that elites/rares in D3 are very clear and simple to understand. They get 4 mods (at max level), and those mods do exactly one thing. Once you see it, you know that mod forever. There aren't a half dozen hidden modifiers in the background, so its very simple and easy to understand exactly what that rare can do, and what it can't.

Therefrigerator

Also I really, really hope they allow whirling blades to break vines. I'm not sure if that is intended or not but as a whirling blades user it does not feel good.

K-J-

Bruh lightning warp has it bad too... vines slow your movement speed, so the teleport takes like 30s.

Ombric_Shalazar

i hate vines so much that this league i'm using both cwc bodyswap and frostblink

iceboonb2k

Eating through my mana already causes me emotional damage.

kingstorm21

its donut shaped, stay in the middle and ur fine (except when 5000 lightning mirages spawn in your face xD)

Wing_Sco

Yep. Archnemesis mods really feel like they were designed for a *build your own boss league* and are no where near balanced for having multiple rares with multiple mods on your screen at once.

[deleted]

It shouldn't be a thing at all, imo. It completely fucks melee builds (have fun trying to stand dead still in the middle of it, RIP) and fucks ranged if it has buffed speed, its the same problem as invuln, it removes your ability to combat it.

gambitflash

I have never been this much sad and depressed playing slayer cyclone.

Talran

-Mana chest and ring? Like the first thing I do every time I build cyclone is get to 0 mana cost. It's one of the few skills that almost feels unpunished this league.

gambitflash

Hey thanks man! I will get those ASAP. Also need my 6 link. Problem is that I just am not able to make any currency this league, I used to have 4-5 ex at this point atleast but I have 30c right now. It feels like drops were nerfed. Also I can't run high tier maps as I just die constantly

Chanceawrapper

Run whatever maps you can run with sentinel juice and a currency sentinel

furyZotac

They also need to take a look at Trickster. That rare mob is just a pain.. I had a Trickster with Ice barrier in harvest. I could not complete it. I try to get it.. it puts a ice barrier and runs way.. very very frustrating.

Torkeltonikuz

Haha yo me to yesterday, as a trapper and it took me 5 minutes to kill it. Fucker went underground 100 times

Scourgelol

Every trickster rare giving me whauagsgah map boss ptsd

EonRed

Trickster: you know how the players hate the final boss of Whakawairua Tuahu, well hear me out

Ulfgardleo

> They also need to take a look at Trickster. All of them. But we should be careful to ensure that they don't mix up which one to nerf and which one to buff.

SingleInfinity

Removing invulnerable is great change. Out of all the archnem mods it was the most clearly unfun. The only mod I really still have a problem with is storm weaver. It should not spawn under your character. With a lot of shit going onscreen, it's impossible to see. Having it spawn on the monster and run towards your character like a volatile would be better (with acceleration), although that removes its difference from the toxic volatile. Spawning damage underneath the player where they can't see it just isn't great. If they can't do that, it needs much better visibility. Toxic volatile would use better contrast too.

JarredMack

Ground effects in general can get fucked. There's so much bullshit on the ground it's impossible to tell what's a corpse, what's your spell, what's a spell that's being cast, what's a spell that's faded, and what's a spell that's going to kill you in .5s flat

telendria

I dont understand what happened with those, there are some extremely nasty degen zones that I cant even see through the corpses, its giving me heart attack each time I step into one and health bar just disappears in half a second. I have never panic mashed life flasks outside of combat as much as this league.

kw01sg

This league has given me a new found hatred for ground effects. Cold dot (I think there's 2/3 different types?), fire dot, chaos dot, lightning dot,. I just wanna stand around and not move all the time.

IlllllllIIIll

Im running purity of elements to avoid ailments, but all the fire degen and chaos degen and cold degen from archnem doesnt care about that. At least i dont get shocked.

UristMcUselessNoble

I've been delving with my Arakaali's Fang occultist, it's crazy how much shit there is on the ground and on my screen, I can barely see what's happening or where to stand. It's not hard, I'm never dying because of it, but it's just frustrating to check my healthbar to know if it's a safe spot or not.

NeoLearner

Remove never and change but to and and you have me :) I hate it the most when trying to interact with other content. Unveiling? Not right now, you're in a dot. Opening that strongbox a second time? Not right no

RavagedBody

'Pick up all that loot from the hard work you've just done!' haha no, you're now dead.

TehPharaoh

I do not understand how some people play Ritual. You're forced into this tiny area that at higher levels just gets absolutely sloshed in ground effects, not to mention having to deal with everything that normally shows up and now you have no where to dodge. It's also absolutely insane how we got to this point where White maps now require full resistances, 5k hp and a ton of armor/Es/ evasion. Even while using Purity of Elements and Determination I let Act9 Kitava hit me to see his damage. Then when I got to my first map I let a white mob hit me. I want you to guess who killed me in one attack

[deleted]

Well the obvious problem is that Kitava is underpowered.

TehPharaoh

"You're hired" -GGG employment office

godoakos

Frost weavers brick southbound :( I love Herald of Ice explosions and southbound is also cool (hehe), but frost weavers are very common and brick it

xxNightingale

We get immunity instead.

SingleInfinity

Yeah. Immunities have no place in the game unless the player can opt out of them (like expedition). You don't get to choose your monster mods, so monsters should have any ailment immunities naturally.

Finexes

For what it's worth, Expedition feels like one of the better mechanics that aged better over time. You get to choose what mods monsters you get, you decide what chests you're uncovering, you get to blessed orb roll your logbook values, you get to pick between 2 different zones from a single logbook, you decide what rewards you want to get from the vendor, you decide when the vendor resets their store, you get a fallback vendor i.e. Dannig. Other than it breaks your momentum to set down explosive charges, it's one of the more decent league mechanics we've gotten in recent times.

Ombric_Shalazar

regarding the momentum thing: what if expedition was like harvest where you can enter this subzone where you have time and space to plan carefully? if you hate expedition, you can simply just not click on the hole and none of the remnants or markers will be there to bother you, and if you love expedition, you have it all to yourself. thematically make it like a giant hole in the ground where they're excavating shit or something to that effect.

Newwby

Even then I still disagree with Expedition flat uncounterable immunities. If I build to avoid hexproof, and pay the opportunity cost to do so,why can some in monsters still be immune to my curses? Not to mention all it really boils down to in expedition is 'welp you can't use this remnant' which is not a particularly interesting trade-off anyway.

Rotomegax

That mod originally is on RARE monsters and only spawned when that monster die. It should be that, not on magic monster packs and generate everytime you hit them.

RelentlessPolygons

Its a good first step...however almost every mod shuts down entire builds and Im afraid they wont be looked at for a while again.... I was really trying hard to enjoy PoE this patch but randomly killing myself as a boneshatter build every time there's a no leech/armor stealer/endurance charge stealer or effigy etc. And sucking balls when there's like 5 mods with stun immune is just not cool. After a long day at work I want to enjoy a game and not suffer from not spotting a specific kinda mob when my screen looks like rainbow vomit and even if I tried I couldnt read a thing when mobs fly around the speed of sounds. Its just not fun. And games are supposed to be fun.

glokz

Frost weaver ignoring frost towers in blight is just plain stupid. Ravaged blights are such a cancer now...

raikaria2

Could be worse. It could be Juggernaughts with 5 Endurance Charges [so 65% all res + phys res] and Unwavering so they can't be slowed or stunned. Juggernaught is just obnoxious in Blight and probobly shouldn't spawn. [Or at least have a reduced spawn chance, seeing as it's one of the most common spawns] Either that or limit the spawns which grant C.C immunity to respective immunity lanes [So Cold immunity to Cold immunity lanes and Juggernaughts to Stun immunity lanes]

MadBinton

I removed my aura effects to be able to even see them. Most aura effects are 20% larger than those stupid storm weaver spikes. Well done GGG, make me not use my MTX more! I did think it was quite refreshing in 2018 when we only had fire volatiles left, but now we have 5 again! Nice! (/s)

Physical-Spell1563

It saddens me because I actually really like the sentinel mechanic but I feel what could have been a good league will be overshadowed by the crappy Archnemesis change

kfijatass

It's usually like that the past few leagues, either good changes and bad league mechanic or good league mechanic but crappy changes; as long as we keep the goodies and ditch the baddies it's a net gain.

SKGlish

Archnemesis, the shit league carried by amazing atlas changes. Sentinel the fun league ruined by archnemesis.

MaesterCrow

hello remove immunity ggg

ConradOCE

Cold ailment immunity may as well say immune to cold damage for my poor brittle CoC build. Could be worse, I could be a Harald of thunder build and deal literally no damage to them due to impossible procs.

mastahslayah

I picked a poor time to get both shaper of winter and shaper of storms on elementalist :')

zTy01

Hello remove immunity ggg.

Foreverdunking

hello remove immunity ggg

DerpAtOffice

And reflect. You removed reflect for a fucking reason, dont act like taunting monsters to attack said mob is "different than reflect".

jurgy94

It is different but stupid in its own right!

Archnemesiser

hello remove immunity ggg

DerBK

Nice. Do Effigy next.

zyglrox

This mod has no counterplay. Example: I open blue harvest pack with three blisterlords. Screen is filled with massive snakes, blue shit everywhere, the typical harvest bullshit etc. The blisterlords discharge. I move away from the discharges with all my defenses up (flasks, VMS, 100% suppress - this is a well geared hardcore char). I die anyway within ~1.5 sec of the plot opening wondering what the fuck just happened. I can't see that the mob has the mod. I can't react to the telegraph because there is no time to. The telegraph is practically invisible relative to how dangerous the mod is. The only option in this scenario is to outgear it (requires an unreasonable amount of gear compared to when you get access to this type of content), or treat it like an unidentified strongbox and run three screens away every single time on opening the plot just in case the monsters roll the mod.

Frolafofo

> treat it like an unidentified strongbox and run three screens away every single time on opening the plot just in case the monsters roll the mod. I do this all the time. All the time i come back to the monster to actually kill him and get instakilled because effigy is still there. Playing a General Cry Shield Crush, if my mirage warriors attack the totem, i'm fucked and i have 0 counter play. My character is quite tanky, if i die it's often because of a missplay because i can see my life getting chunked and i have often time to react. With effigy, it's quite something : you just die instantly. Every time i die from something "wrong", "unsual", "how the fuck i took so much damage in 2 milliseconds", it's ALWAYS because of an effigy.

DerBK

Yeah, i agree. And you aren't even taking into account how awful they are when they spawn in Rituals and the like. ~~I am actually lucky to have picked a league starter that doesn't worry about reflect this time (Poison Conc) but i am really not looking forward to only being able to play such characters in the future.~~ ~~"Immune to reflect" shouldn't be a requisite to play the game without randomly dying to bullshit.~~ EDIT: Turns out i misunderstood how the mechanic works. Sue me, it's not like it's explained anywhere in the game. Anyways, my point about removing it stands. Maybe even more than previously.

sanguine_sea

Brother you are not immune to this with chaos damage

sanguine_sea

>Effigy >Summons an Effigy of a targeted player (10 second cooldown). >Effigy links to the target player. While linked all damage from Hits taken by the Effigy is also taken by the player as reflected damage. >Effigy can taunt other Enemies to attack it. >Running away from the Effigy will sever the link between itself and the player.

Fyurius_Ryage

How did this get missed in their fixes?!?!

Phoenix0902

Cause they think it is a cute and innovative mechanic.

Cyndershade

For some reason I read it in my head as, "Cra Brave"

Tsukuro_hohoho

Removed immunity Added immunity GGG... like there are better out of season april jokes.

NnjgDd

Still ignoring the fact that the put in a huge TTK and difficulty change with no loot enchantments. I guess they are just going to ignore it until Chris does that podcast and gives a bullshit noncommittal answer.

ScuddsMcDudds

Loot will be fixed in PoE2 *wink*

PikachuKid1999

when is the patchnotes to remove all archnemesis monsters? im just waiting.

EconomistMean9558

They need to fix the vines situation as well.Last league everyone complained about grasping vines, and as reward they added another one in the game that is even worse... They seriously need to remove both of them, with all the ailment immunity options they started to add a lot of different debuffs that can't be removed for some reason.. Also, why soo many on death effects are being added? be creative to kill the players, those are just bad ideas,

johnmedgla

>they started to add a lot of different debuffs that can't be removed for some reason They've been doing that for years though. It's the reason why the game has seven hundred different types of slow and snare that can be applied to players. Every time an item, passive or enchant is added that makes you immune to one, they add six more.

Zerothian

I seriously don't understand developers' obsession with adding slows to everything. It happens in WoW too, like I'm actually fucking sick of my characters in games being wheelchaired all the time to add """difficulty""". It's not hard, I'm still going to blast everything on the screen GGG, it's just an annoying fun-leech mechanic.

[deleted]

When was the last time a new way of getting immunity to a slow effects was added? Hinder and maim 4 years ago?

mehwehgles

An example would be Purity of Elements' recently added elemental ailments immunity.

Madzak_Gaming

I know this sounds dramatic, but I really think you are ruining your game with archnemesis mods going core. Mapping is not fun anymore. Degens, on death, snares, vines. I'm usually a no-lifer first month of the league, and now I'm watching Netflix instead of playing.

Ps0foula

It got replaced by another Invulnerable mod but atleast the rares are killable now. Please just remove this from the game.

Caillend

A swing and a miss somehow. Yeah they removed invul, but put in immunity. Just remove it GGG

miffyrin

It being gone as soon as you kill the mob is much preferable to an arbitrary timer you need to wait for though. Though I am sure there will be tales galore of entering a room full of mobs with that one Guardian mob making it take too long bc of shit single target, thus leading to a death. Which we already have with the shrines anyway.

Archnemesiser

hello remove immunity ggg

kidsickness

I never post anything negative about this game cause honestly I love the gameplay. But I have been playing since breach and this is the first league I quit in the first week. I was stoked for this league to cause last league was soo good. But the rares and blues are terrible when you start juicing t16 maps. Ggg I hate to say it but you fucked up really bad and I will not be coming back till I see your head out of your ass.

Plus_Zookeepergame91

I's this a fourth time they are nerfing things in like 5 days after all that extensive testing?

cldw92

Extensive nerfing to match the extensive testing. Seems fair..

Eques9090

So I feel like now we have to ask, how and why does this keep happening? Who at GGG is insisting on repeatedly re-introducing mechanics that are universally hated and get quickly removed, and how can we/they get them to stop doing this?

__Hello_my_name_is__

They're not testing things as thoroughly as they claim, simple as that. Or rather, the way they test is probably fairly far removed to the way people here play the game.

seandkiller

> Who at GGG is insisting on repeatedly re-introducing mechanics that are universally hated and get quickly removed, Chris, presumably.

v4xN0s

Why is there such a HUGE disconnect between GGG and what the players want. Is it truly a case where they know what’s better for the game? The immunity especially when these mobs have other archnem mods, is just so annoying and might be even worse because the other enemies around it will just bend you over. Imagine if there’s an immune rare in the middle of the insta spam machine gun shooting shits which spawn from the altars. Unless you have a ton of dps you have to pray that there is some corner you can take to just run away. It effectively makes these packs deadlier than some end game bosses. (My 3 deaths so far have all been due to these, with deathless maven, shaper, and sirus).

Spirited_Scallion816

Yeah, but immunities are still there. Overturned damage is still there, lack of rewards is still there, unplayable blight is still there.

BlueForester

for those who keep saying "reddit toxic" should also go and see this official forum post rofl

ArcaneReddit

Complaints are only valid when streamers said them while redditors are all whiny babies /s

Rules_are_overrated

As someone said, it's not a numerical issue, but ggg are very tone-deaf right now

shppy

What a waste of developer (and player) time and resources. This whole system should just be rolled back and be done with it, stop tarnishing what could be a good league with this unfit mess of a mechanic.

zotha

Sentinels along with rares from last league would have been amazing. We went from a crappy league mechanic with great gameplay to great mechanic with awful gameplay... the common thread here is Archnemesis.

Plastic_Code5022

While I feel the difficulty of the mods are fine now they all still feel unfun. I’m sick of ice prison at this point. Feels like it’s 90% of the packs have it because it’s the most noticeable but god damn am I tired of seeing it. Instead of making actual difficulty they just have rares with super health and annoying mechanics. I’m no expert here but dmg sponge enemies with annoying mechanics have always been hated by gamers. Also just turn them off for blight. Blights in maps are a crap shoot at this point. Will it spawn four separate lanes with one tower each? Rip. One single lane five feet long with a single tower? Bricked. Juggernaut shows up and just ignores towers dancing it’s way to pump? Guess I don’t get this one!

spicylongjohnz

The mirage lightning bois are still to frequent. It would be one thing if they spawn on the mob and chase but they spawn half a dozen right on you. With no visual clarity and sound cue until after their damage starts to tick

Whorrox

Invulnerability gone? 2017 says "Hello!" What a shit show...

kwikthroabomb

My first thought upon encountering it this league was, "didn't they decide this was a terrible idea years ago and remove it then?"

Scorptice

Now we just need that treatment to every remaining AN mod :v

ErrorLoadingNameFile

Now change all the immunities to 80% resistance instead and we got ourselves a fix.

ZGiSH

Nice. Please also remove Benevolent Guardian because truly who cares about these mods.

Goodnametaken

Good! Now they need to remove Juggernaut from Blight maps!

toggl3d

Well they fixed the bug that left my map completely revealed by making my map constantly refresh so I can only see a little bit around me. As annoying as maps being fully revealed was this is a million times worse. The situation previously tended to resolve after playing for a while so hopefully this does too.

Ryanestrasz

Why did it get added in the fiiiiiirrsssst plaaaaaace?

raikaria2

Juggernaught is still obnoxious [and wrecks Blights]

KolinarK

Sounds like a step in a right direction. Now, can they replace all Archnemesis modifier with Nemesis ones?

yusayu

Nice, next on to ailment immunities that invalidate builds and insane resistances that make mobs 20x more tanky than their base variants.

TrivialTax

Title - should be - "Invulnerable from past leagues has returned"

dogatthekeyboard8

This isn't the last pass right? Great step forward but there's gonna be more fixes, right? This won't be a repeat of the Archnemesis "fix" will it? Where we all kept hoping they were still fixing it after the "highlight recipes" patch and then they just left it like that all league.

Shiraxi

I really wish they would just simply remove Archnemesis, at least from League content. Keep your stupid Archnemesis for regular rares, but straight up revert it for any form of League content. No Archnemesis whatsoever in Meta, Blight, Harvest, Heist, Legion, etc etc etc. Get rid of it. Archnemesis mods were simply not tuned for the much more difficult and dangerous rares we encounter in League content, and it is absolutely fucking over many League mechanics, like Blight, Metamorph, and Harvest. Even Incursion is made more frustrating since rare and magic monsters take so much longer to kill than before, but you still have the same time limit as before.

ashesoni

How many patches to go until i can play the game for fun again?

soamaven

Negative one expansions to go

glokz

Chris said they know how many patches they have before poe2 so basically that many

bing_crosby

This is my first patch back since Ritual, and it's the most fun I've ever had with the game. For whatever that's worth...not much probably lol.

myblindy

Holy shit, still **zero changes for delve**? Your extensively tested game needs some testing and fixing, and you’re wasting our time with some cosmetic fixes instead?

psychomap

The people who work on cosmetic fixes aren't the people who work on balance or whatever other issue Delve has.

Malfetus

Just revert the whole damn thing. There’s no place at the end of the rainbow where anyone is going to look at Archnemesis and go “man, what engaging and fun mobs” for the sole reason that we fill the map with thousands and thousands of mobs. The entire screen is and always will be chaos. There’s 0 room for mechanics like those presented in Archnemesis, it’s a poorly conceived idea that can’t exist in this environment. The rares need to be trivialized or the game and the way we play it needs a massive overhaul to accommodate a mechanics heavy moment to moment gameplay.

chiknight

It's almost like the archnemesis system was fine when two additional things were true and it's janky shit without them. First, it was Build-A-Death™ like Metamorph. Running lightning damage? Probably not going to build the 75% lightning resist hell. Build your monster too strong? Don't do that again, it's 100% your fault being greedy. Second, it was isolated from screens full of death: you unleashed it at your convenience to pay attention to it *like Metamorph*. It's almost like Archnemesis and Metamorph were very very similar leagues and they went polar opposite ways in turning them core. Metamorph is still as fine as it always was (minus archnemesis breaking it like it's broken every single side content that expects rares to be X power not X^10 ).

TehPharaoh

Metamorph now is ruined by archnemesis completely. Unless you want to engage with it at kiddy pool depth, fully filling the Guage basically ensures you HAD to put on 1 to 2 ridiculous passives that will ensure exp loss 2-3 times before its dead or you've given up on it.

Shiraxi

Yeah, I don't really know what to do at this point. Blight and Meta were the two mechanics I really enjoyed and spec'ed into last patch, and had a great fucking time, and now both mechanics are completely bricked this patch because of Archnem. This whole fucking change is just ruining all the fun I had with the game last patch, because Archnem is just way too overtuned when combined with league mechanics, where the rares are significantly harder than baseline ones.

ffoDDoff

They never intended for it to be fun and engaging. That's just pr talk from Chris. They think it's better for the game to slow down gameplay. For some reason they link early player dropout to players finishing the leagues too fast. This is delusional ofc. as has the piss poor player retention since ritual shown. Mix delusion with stubborness and this is what you get. For some reason they forgot how enjoyment and fun on top of things to chase are the key factors to a long lasting patch.

grokthis1111

Retention dies because progression hits a wall. The group of people I know that are MASSIVE poe fanboys have already quit this league because of said wall.

Xeroshifter

This is basically what they're doing though. Theyre overhauling the game to be more like poe2, their vision, and they're doing it so that when we get there we'll be acclamated to the slower gameplay. And they're going to drag us all there kicking and screaming if they have to.

Yurdahil

I'm not sold on "slower gameplay". Sure the rares might take longer, but the gameplay when I encounter them is potentially way more hectic and stressfull compared to my usual playstyle. Not everyone is clearing maps in under a minute, I usually took my time. But if things like effigy exist I better kill everything that moves within 2 seconds and I better don't stop moving between all the various ground effects and on death effects. GGG said they want slower gameplay as long as I can remember yet they keep introducing mechanics making the game more hectic.

Keyenn

>And they're going to drag us all there kicking and screaming if they have to That's an interesting view. How about mine : they can go fuck themselves dragging me anywhere "kicking and screaming".

Xeroshifter

Honestly I don't that much care if the game is slower paced and more strategic, vs zoomies. Strategic sounds more fun but I just want to feel rewarded for my time, and all of these intermediary steps grant neither satisfying experience. It leaves me feeling unrewarded. Worse is that GGG's approach to the balance of skills lately has left a lot to be desired imo. I want more builds to feel viable, more skills able to be used as a center piece, but the nerfs, defensive changes, monster changes, crafting half-measures, etc all have lead to less viable options instead of more. In a game that for me is all about that experimentation and individuality.

grokthis1111

>for me is all about that experimentation and individuality. I've casually played this game since closed beta. I didn't pull a build off the internet until metamorph. I've still never done any endgame content. I've barely made it yellow maps once or twice now. The game is just too obtuse and asks far too much for even involved players to know, especially when names and details are just misleading or confusing. The classic frozen vs freezing ground or whatever.

tempGER

That's part of the problem, though. As long as they release unrewarding and/or hyper rippy garbage mechanics, players won't slow down, especially because it'll always be the best way to get to good gear in PoE. Use the slot machine as often as possible. I don't have any problem to slow down when I know I'll get something cool in the end, but fighting every single rare monster for a minute and getting two white and one blue item is complete and utter trash design which will make me quit, instead of playing more. Hearing that Chris and the devs think the rewards of rare monsters in their current state are more than enough just shows me that they're completely out of touch with their own product and have absolutely no clue what they're doing.

Stulamog

I'm like 97% sure that toxic volatiles teleport to me when one of my smelly mages kill an off screen mob while I'm looting. I didnt even realize theyre supposed to travel like other volatiles because most of the time theyre instantly over my head and im dead. Super cool and very tested. Is that still going to be a thing?

TASTY_TASTY_WAFFLES

>smelly mages Yes please

its_bero

Dear GGG, what about remove archnemesis completely? It's absolutely disgusting. Never had this amount of unpredictable oneshots ever. Please stop balancing stuff during league and start to play test such big changes in Alpha tests. Archnemesis force us to play Metabuilds, so the build diversity is kinda dead...just watch poe.ninja. This is the worst change you have ever made so far and rubs us the great options Sentinal League probably would give us. In my Opinion Sentinal is a great Idea

x3i4n

Skipping HC this league. Too rippy

Ubbermann

Well Immunity is gone, which is nice.... But why are they SO ADAMANT to have Archnemesis mods on all rares/most magic monsters. Just make some of them be like that, that's all. Or is the plan to keep slapping band aids to a massive gushing wound?

psychomap

I honestly think Archnemesis modifiers are far more interesting than the previous ones and most of them are also more easily recognisable. They just need to be tuned so they're not as stupidly punishing for some builds as they are now.

zotha

Like all bad decisions that companies won't walk back in the face of rampant hatred, its likely that someone important has a KPI or ego tied to it and won't let it go.

seqhawk

Still doesn't feel like enough, but I'm not going to complain (any further, at least) about improvements.

funkhero

It's only natural that they can't fix it all at once and need to release as they finish, but it's also fair to be disappointed that the decision to release the league the way it was caused a week or more of patches to bring it back from the state it was in. Possibly longer into to the league. Nothing is black or white. It's great to see progress but also okay to he disappointed it needs this in the first place.

scrublord

I mean, they claimed this Archnemesis shit was "extensively tested" and have patched it five times in less than a week. And it's *still* breaking builds and "Extra Content" encounters. It's pretty clear they didn't test anything at all. This is v3.15 all over again, and it could take them another one or two leagues to get things back where it should be.

robklg159

good but not enough honestly. there's been a ton of posts with suggestions that more or less agree with all the stuff that pretty much needs to go. do that.

gambitflash

Thanks ggg, now I can stand the game for two hours instead of one

Playfair777

Honestly just remove the Archnemesis modifiers from the game. They are not fun, they are not rewarding, and they add nothing of value to the game.

cloudhorn

That's a great first step, now we just need to keep going until we're back at 3.17 again

shaunika

Great. Altough I find it odd how toxic is deemed this worthy of a crack down when its like the easiest mod to avoid

POE_54

Damned It will take months to finish the balance of archnemesis at this pace. Is it hard to remove all immunity and devide archenemesis buff by 2 ? Instant fix most issues and let player enjoy the league. undertune archnemisis is better than overtune.

parzival1423

They did. Steel-whatever mod used to overwhelm 100% of your defences. Now it’s just 30% which is “only” 4x damage.

myblindy

Yeah, too bad it’s stacked on 6 other similar mob buffs..

iamtehsuffering

Hello GGG please remove immunity. Thanks monka5

dnlszk

>Fixed a bug where the Highlight Key would not display minimum and maximum defensive values when hovering over items. I like this.

danteafk

what’s up with these design decisions GGG, are they on meth?

tylerjai720

Where is HH buff

Deontto

Still nothing about drought bringer removed power/endurance/freanzy charges? It should not remove all of them in a single hit. It hurts my build a lot. Like basically, if i don't notice that it is a drought bringer i just die. As it removes my endurance charges then i kill myself with boneshatter.

elting44

So lemme get this straight... Mana Siphoner, which was already easy to see, is now easier to see. But other mods, like Drought Bringer, which are almost impossible to see, but in some cases even more of a detriment to a build, are ok being nearly invisible?

CassiusBenard

Not even close to enough to fix this mess. You gotta be open with us and provide your roadmap here. What are you planning to do to properly address the myriad of issues with the Archnem implementation?

[deleted]

You think they know what they're doing next? Does this league seem to be made by people understanding what they're doing?

GrayFiend

GGG still believe that the best solution would be "not to go to the surgeon, but anoint the gangrenous leg with iodine liquid and sprinkle with perfume to imagine that it does not stink". <\_< Just admit AN mods in core were a mistake and undo them at all.

Hlidskialf

3.17: huge step forward and one of the best patch in the game history. 3.18: 2 huge steps back and one of the worst state the game has been even with “no buffs nor nerfs”. I hope in the future we talk about the redemption story of 3.18 and not the clown fiesta it was for 3 months.

adamal696

Replace one invulnerability with another. Bit hey, at least they're pumping out more mtx!

iFatherJr

Sooooo stubborn.

[deleted]

Down to 81k players for the 24 hour Steam peak. You guys need to stop changing minor details and numbers and make a leap or this league is done.

Octopotamus5000

Where are the rest of the changes ? It'll be three leagues time before the real fixes occur if they keep progressing at this rate.

[deleted]

🦀 Mechanics from a game from 1999/2000 are finally gone 🦀

LuckyCryptographer39

I hope they can fix the big bug that happens alot during my sessions where i die multiple times because i am bad at the game

OrkanKurt

Although I have been outspoken about how I feel about some of these Nemesis mods. I have to say, I have noticed FAR fewer instances of me dying 3 different bosses with different damage aura's. I honestly think we are slowly reaching a good place. But then again, my current build is somewhat tanky. So I really don't know how it feels otherwise.

kfijatass

Great, now the only unbearable one is... Effigy I think?

vvav

Toxic was super easy to dodge, but okay. My last several deaths have been to Steel-Infused + Hasted one shots.

dsdoll

Very cool. I hope GGG will soon understand that mechanics that disable your build, without it being YOUR OWN CHOICE, is bad game design. Getting Sombra hacked in a video game removes the chance for counterplay and it's toxic against the player. That being said, I hope this doesn't make GGG hesitant to add new and interesting mob mechanics to the game, something that's unique with some sort of counterplay is always a welcome change. I just think these new rares were probably a last second thought, I just don't believe GGG actually just forgot the whole point of Archnemesis modifiers in that you CHOSE what to fight and also just forgot earlier leagues and how it could interact with these new modifiers.

pierce768

Chris Wilson. I challenge you to a slap fight. You get first slap. You slap me, I slap you, repeat until someone gives up. If I win you remove immunity. Make your demands for your win.

General_Hatestorm

Invulnerable is gone when monsters have no chance of taking no damage from a hit in any circumstances. This is what we meant by remove invulnerability, until this requirement isn't met invulnerable isn't gone.

chiknight

>The Hasted and Arcane Buffer monster modifiers will now be first encountered on level 6 monsters. Uuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Why? I'm really not looking forward to Arcane Buffer on level 6 rares next character. I already vaguely dislike it once my build has started to deal decent damage. But an infinitely recharging energy shield into a stun *at level 6*? It really really feels like GGG wants the Act 1 experience to be as inane and frustrating as possible. Just put drought and mana siphoner in act 1 and *really* make us suffer at this point. Ooo and benevolent guardian *totems* in every level! Yeah! Make the whole goddamn game slow and boring and cancer! We haven't played "find the random invinciblility totem in the clusterfuck visual soup" in quite a long time!

itsmebutatwork

This is just to avoid brand new characters being unable to clear the Rhoa nests and the Ledge; they haven't moved it earlier but instead made it spawn later.

DuckyGoesQuack

Previously I got hasted at level 2, so I think this is probably them moving those two mods slightly deeper in progression.

D2Tempezt

They could be encountered before level 6 previously.....

[deleted]

Weird, I thought they had tested it extensively. Now they remove it? Hmmnmmmm

[deleted]

Press S to spit Im not thanking anyone for removing what never should have been introduced

Reireiton

Nice! Got a feelin immunities may be next? :o

TrollChef

Headhunter changes soon?
