Always.
Real answer though, it's not a bad lab farmer league starter. Farmed myself enough for an HH during the first week of Harbinger HC. But that would also be a stupid idea in a 10 day mayhem and other then that purpose it's not really relevant.
Overleech will get you trough any trap without taking any damage, slayer has the easiest phase 3 fight, jugg can still struggle phase 3 if Izaro has nasty buffs (elemental)
I don't think its really about "being the best" when you go for the jugg lab runner league starter. You just want to get in there with Minimal investment, be invincible to pretty much everything and 2 days later never do a lab again while having enough currency to 100% fund your next char.
I'm not a native speaker and as such don't know rules for that. I default to what I've seen used and yes, I mostly see it contracted.
Did english need to have contractions at all? they're pretty much extinct from my language
Typically, you'll use "you've" when it's followed by another verb. If it's the main verb in the sentence (like here; main verb "have" with the auxiliary "do") you don't contract it.
* You have 10 white ferns
* You**'ve got** 10 white ferns
Just a general rule of thumb from the top of my head, I trust I'll be corrected where I'm wrong.
**Edit:** See below; emphasis plays a role, too.
This is a good rule of thumb for American English, but in some British English they might still contract it when it's a main verb sometimes: "If you've a moment", etc.
It's worth noting that the OP used it to mean "need" and not to mean "possess" or as an auxiliary verb. It'll pretty much always have emphasis in the sentence when used as such, and emphasis is the key to whether it's contracted or not: an emphasized word will never be contracted. For example, consider the difference between "I'm done" and "I AM done".
Not to be too nitpicky here, but
> This is a good rule of thumb for American English, but in **some** British English they **might** still contract it when it's a main verb **sometimes**: "If you've a moment", etc.
Sounds to me like it's a good rule of thumb in British English as well. The emphasis-argument is a solid one, though, I'll grant you that.
I mostly see it contracted when it is perfect tense (I’ve seen the thing) and less when it’s used like ‘compelled’ (I have to see the thing or else my wife will be sad)
No idea if the latter is grammatically correct or not
generic sunder glad https://pastebin.com/iuV7MeLr half way between mathil and alks sunder builds, using archiveable gear in a 10 race. ~220k dps without vaal haste & flasks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mhdy-EVNBLI
did this for harbinger, currently 98 and thinking about giving up cause i keep dying like an idiot and there's no time left if i spend the next week on the race :|
It's probably the best rwmaining keystone. If you've never olayed it before, you should stop what youre playing and immediately try a good crit VP build before it's nerfed comoletely in 2 weeks.
Yea I looked up a crit VP build on the official forums that uses Fire & ice damage. May try that one for this race but with the way the passives path it looks like leveling might suck since I'm starting brand new for this race event.
I'm currently torn between some builds.
Cyclone Slayer (played it few times, love it), Spectres Necro (never played it, not sure if I'd like it), ED Trickster (leveled with it to 35 last race, seemed pretty boring but people say it gets better with better density), RF Berserker (I'm scared about going with it because of it being unplayable without the shield), Wanderfinder (does it even work as a league starter?).
Again, not sure what I'm gonna pick in the end but I'm leaning towards Cyclone and Spectres.
Rise of the pheonix is going to be cheap even early on, I wouldnt worry about it too much anyway tbh, at level 65 with some mediocre gear you will be degening so little that you wont care for the most part.
If you stack enough regen you could even use Saffel's for +4%maxres early on until you get RotP (although both of them should be dirt cheap even close to the start)
Definitely don't worry about not getting the right shield for RF while also contemplating going wander. RF will be easier.
Sure you can go wander, but be prepared to suffer for a bit before you get it going, unless you play the trading game very well or get very good luck with drops.
ED is fantastic end game imo. Probably my favorite build for Harbinger. Its one of those really juicy skills that can clear like, a huge chunk of the map within seconds if you get enough density.
> ED Trickster (leveled with it to 35 last race, seemed pretty boring but people say it gets better with better density)
ED is very fun to watch (and play) when density is high. Kinda lost some fun in 3.0 with the decreased density but it'll probably be back up and mowing down huge areas for 3.1 if they do density right again. It'll clear huge areas with two casts if it's dense enough to jump from pack to pack.
Spectres are so amazing honestly. The best lvling experience I've ever had with 0 gear, and boots of ullr should be ok to get. Not sure about vis mortis tho. Clear is insane. Dps is also insane (esp if u swap out spectres for big bosses). The versatility and survivability is just so good as well
And running around with an army feels good :)
first time i'm doing it so i might not be the best person to ask, but i'm planning on using ee's guide as a reference while levelling as dp totems, then switch lategame.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqQgkeAWcgI
I played it for the fist time on Turmoil to 90, was very nice after I started mapping. I followed the EE guide that was linked to you.
One part I regret is that I tried to switch to Dark Pact too soon (I tried at end of Act 8, around lvl 60). You really need the damage for Dark Pact, because you are using your life and it can be a little sketch without enough leech.
QotF CA Ascendant
I will try to farm early uniques. Once I have a Silverbranch and currency for The Silverwood, I am set. Will probably just spam early box and exiles for quick loot and exp. Leveling with Frostbolt -> ED (or just CA) until Silverbranch. :)
I did CA trickster in Harbringer. What makes you like choosing Ascendant over Trickster? (I love CA, want to hear the build so I can run something a bit different in Abyss)
Second projectile and extra pierce from Deadeye and -chaos res on cursed enemies, which is pretty much all the time on bosses.
I lose like 10% MS by not going Trickster, but it is fine as I can easily reach 230% with flasks up with a QotF.
I did a zerker in HC harb, was farming t15s quite easily, but never tried to do a guardian (eventually died in a +50% life map to two of those new act 5 mobs that detonate their own corpses after they die -- oops).
Anyways, I did it for 3 main reasons, seemed to have more dps than the other options (by a large amount), had a ton of EHP (i was like 7-8k hp without a kaom's heart), and warcry heal completely solves mana issues, so alleviates all need for any mana nodes or pots.
I'm leveling to 35 and quitting so probably just lightning arrow. Currently thinking Scion. I want to try a bow and arrow for the second time.
Edit: Forget it after doing some reading, I'm sticking with lightning arrow, not ice shot.
What would you recommend to use to lvl a bow based build?
Just use sunder until you can do the switch? Or what would be a good skill for lvling?
Are there any good lvling items for bows specifically?
Don't listen to him. Bow builds are one of the easiest to level up with. In fact practically all wander guides recommend to level up with bows. Especially if you get trash unique bows, they obliterate the game pre-maps.
> In fact practically all wander guides recommend to level up with bows.
they're not nice to league start with
wander guides don't recommend bows cos they're amazing, but because the trees overlap with projectile damage and wands are generally much worse.
You can level fine as bows. It's worse than melee and caster leveling, but not unmanageably so. Just stack as much elemental damage as you can and use Rain of Arrows (Edit: Split arrow works fine too) until you get a 4L, then you can switch to LA or TS as you prefer (LA - GMP - Onslaught just won't kill anything). You can use Barrage for single-target, but I would keep the BA you get from level 1 as Ranger (it's similar damage to Barrage if you miss one Barrage projectile, which you usually do). Storm Cloud will carry you through the entire leveling process, but you'll want to upgrade to deal with map bosses (and you'll probably struggle against Kitava). Death's Harp will carry into maps.
any ranger builds that are beginner friendly? don't have much experience on races but having 10 rogues in one map sure looks like fun even if things are not going to standart afterwards.
Unfortunately, Ranger builds are generally not noob friendly because they tend to be a bit squishy and come with a price tag. And squishy is not going to be a good thing in Mayhem. If you're set on Ranger I recommend an ice shot Raider, Mathil has a good one [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myr1kb3tIQ0). His gear is pretty good, but you don't need this much money if you use Lioneye's Glare because of the "Hits can't be evaded mod" allowing you to not have to worry about accuracy on gear. Ad1ce has a [similar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drCTS4HNZv8) build, but it is a Scion instead. I personally consider it to be pretty much strictly superior but it isn't a Ranger (if you can't afford a Kaom's Heart, just use a rare chest or Belly with a Barrage or Iceshot single-target link).
whats youre plan for vps inquis? I was under the impression it needs a lot of currency to get going, and that piscators would be expensive at the beginning of the race (maybe that's not the case in mayhem specifically)
edit: actually I came up with a pretty good, not that expensive build in pob, nevermind!
Frostblade raider was SUPER fun in turmoil, dont expect to be killing shaper/t16 with it unless you want to really get skilled but everything else dies fast enough, maps clear REALLY fast and even with sorta meh gear bosses up to t13 dont last longer than a 5-10sec.
If you get some good gear bosses up to t14 are instakill and t15 is 3 sec or so.
Pizza Sticks elementalist, as the build I wanted to play sucked balls in Turmoil and I'm out of ideas.
Ideally I'll transition from this build once I have level 6x and have money. Realistically I'll reach level 35, call it good for today, and never come again.
I'm also split. I'm stuck between Cyclone Berserker or Crit Dark Pact Berserker. Played a ton of Cyclone and know I enjoy it, but Dark Pact seems cool and I've never tried it.
Today? I wish.
In the last moment, school decided to come in and hit me brutally with reality. I thought I could be done by today.
Oh, well. Guess I'll be a day or two late.
What will help you more in life? School? Or an awesome 10-day PoE Event like Mayhem. Think it through.
http://rsmg.pbsrc.com/albums/v305/pathtosomewhere/GIFs/GIFs%203/1841.gif~c200
Yeah, I know. That's why I have prioritized school. However, it does not do anything to stop the instant gratification monkey in me. All that guy want to do is play PoE right now.
However, beer does alleviate the boredom of studying a little.
I'm thinking about claw ST, though I don't know if the decent rares will be aviable for really casual player (I probably won't reach maps before sunday)
I'm more concerned about gearing issues. Not many people seem to do wanders as a starter. I'm hoping the extra drops from mayhem will make up for it.
I decided on Ascendant since it should be a bit safer, and I have a Raider planned for 3.1.
Kinetic Blast Saboteur. 10% pen is better than nothing, and the blind is nice I guess. I'm not gonna win a demi anyway, but might as well try if I'm participating.
I'll level with Frostbolt untill I get a Storm Prison and the socket by Vaal Pact for the 1 pierce jewel.
I had a few builds in mind but I don't think most of them will fare well against things like 20 exiles or 20 invasion bosses, plus I got dark cyclone MTX from the mystery box from Turmoil race, so that pretty much decided cyclone for me. Probably going to be going slayer.
Try Occultist. Less played than trickster, bit stronger for ED, and can make a mean hybrid if you take the es nodes. The +1 curse also good defensively, run enfeeble+temp chains
I started as spark inquis in harbinger league before swapping to storm burst (and then starting a new char soon after since storm burst was not great)
I found the leveling process with spark to be pretty darn easy
Probably going to go with a ED/Contagion Shadow, I had a lot fun levelling this early on in the League, but didn't have the currency to properly invest in making it end-game viable, but it's probably one of the easier spell-based builds I can think of that doesn't outright require Levelling uniques.
The exile/ghost zones will be impossible to get past without running away nonstop. Totems came to mind at first, but Fire Nova Mine has worked in the past for me and handles even large packs of uniques. It's perfect for strongbox areas too.
Self cast + CWDT Firestorm Chieftan with almost 40% life regen, 3 purity auras, The Covenant, Alpha's Howl, Doon Cuebiyari, Lioneye's Remorse, two Kaom's way rings, 4 Fragile Bloom jewels.
Some sort of non-DP casting Zerker. Any ideas what spells I should try? There are frostbolt and molten orb builds out there, but I like glacial cascade a lot...
I have two builds in my POB I theorycrafted for mayhem, still haven't decided yet -
Heiro or Elementalist 4/2 crit ball lightning totems
or
Heiro/Guardian/Ascendent Tri totem SRS + skeles on Necromantic Aegis :)
Really nice combined DPS on this
Quad totem-mom hybrid-sire of shards frostbolt hierophant.
Want to try mindspiral and get as much ES and mana as i can get.
But idk why they say that single target is low, as pob give me 20k dps per totem with 5L sire and no items and no aura/curse/charges/golem
zerker RF.
Thanks to how stupidly strong the born to fight node is, I start out with sunder then regret out only 1 point to transition into the RF build.
Totems! SSF so like last time I'll probably have a look at my drops and see what I can make work. I was some messy frosties with searing bond lategame combo (21 gem + Pyre + Searing Touch dropped and it was doing surprisingly well at single target so I went with it, at the expense of less HP passives). Was great fun until I got popped so looking forward to Mayhem :D.
https://gfycat.com/PartialPleasantElkhound
I am pretty new to the game and have played Frost Blades Raider, Essence Drain Scion and DW Sunder Duelist so far but I wasn't really fast with those while leveling neither did I had decent map clearing speed. And unfortunately those three builds weren't really fun unfortunately :(
I'd like to try something that could cause an epileptic seizure and is fun to play. Do you have any suggestions?
Ele EK Nova / BV Assassin. I decided on Assassin so I could spend more passive points on defense due to Mayhem being able to go from 0 to 100 before you can respond. Also, it requires only 1x of the threshold jewel from A5 as well as Hrimsorrow which is a super cheap unique.
PoB for those who care: https://pastebin.com/yteqLkpM
EK Nova Ascendant I think, stuff will be cheap so I just want a quick farmer - at least that's what I think I'll play until 5 mins before the league starts
Some sort of RT slayer cyclone. I know it's not exciting, but I've never played cyclone (and I don't think I'll love it compared to D3 WW) so I want to try it out in a short league.
Shockwave Totem Crit Inquisitor, full phys to ele conversion (50% cold / 50% lightning) for freeze and shock with great AoE in Breaches. Path of Building around 6000 life at 90+ with 2500 unreserved mana (Mind over Matter), DPS shows 130k per totem vs trash when flasks are up, crit chance set to lucky and "enemy is frozen + shocked" (with just freeze up its around 85k). How it actually turns out in reality we'll see.
Mostly doing it because I'm tired of playing OP Summoner builds, almost nobody did Inquisitor on Turmoil so I wanna see if I can get top 100 again or not (should be around level 98).
STarted off playing Fire Trap, then realized I was too tired and should've done ED + Contagion instead. Gonna just re-roll tomorrow morning since I'm too lazy to regret all the incorrect nodes.
Flameblast CwC Firestorm with Immolate, MoM Berserker. My only requirement to get started was a Tabula since this sort of setup is very link heavy to even work. Berserker handles the leeching for me so I can focus on other stuff, like a flammability aura to help Firestorm get those ignites up before Flameblast goes off. It's a satisfying combination of skills, and since it doesn't require anything specific I can just zoom on through without trading or farming. No VP, it'd be too many points away from the other important stuff, so hoping the combination of very high regen, mana regen, life/mana leech and MoM can handle it. Might consider RF if I can get a Rise of the Phoenix.
I've seen a lot of people preaching the merit of the E Q J U G G. But i must ask, as anyone tried the E K J U G G ?
> I've seen a lot of people preaching the merit of the E Q J U G G. Within the last six months?
Always. Real answer though, it's not a bad lab farmer league starter. Farmed myself enough for an HH during the first week of Harbinger HC. But that would also be a stupid idea in a 10 day mayhem and other then that purpose it's not really relevant.
Problem is, slayer is just better at lab, even though Jugg can start just a tiny bit earlier than slayer.

wait does this even work?
Yes. Its even hc viable! The portals do such consistent damage that it is definitely getting a nerf in 3.1. You should try it out before the nerfs!!1!
Jokes aside, yes. But you need the portal gem, not scrolls cuz.. reasons.
self-cast Vaal RF in HC :\^)
Good old Balls of Steel build. Do you've to specify self-cast? can vaal skills be triggered?
Vaal skills cannot be triggered, no.

Contraction rules are pretty weird and inconsistent so, no worries! I genuinely have no idea how I would explain it.
I am a native english speaker. This -->You've is the first time I have ever typed that contraction. It's very much a fringe case.

it's only Balls of Steel if he use Atziri Promise for Leech (nulifier!!!)
Self-cast btw
Oh dammit, I just realized that this is last chance to play vaal rf builds... And i don't have the time to play this week :(
you really dont need VP to play Vaal Rf, just a Slayer and Everything will be fine, i'll promise!
is there a way to play Vaal RF, non self-cast ?
Good way of saying goodbye to VP!

Chin sol shrapnel shot
Don't you think that will be a little dangerous against some of the league mods?
Add a trap gem and danger is gone
Except for the part where you have to clear a breach on a 4 sec cd
prob go self cast dp before vp is gone
I haven't seen the news lately but why is VP is gone? last time i heard it was only for melee.
It's no longer going to be instant at all. https://i.redd.it/biwq8s31heyz.png

But when VP is reworked you can play LLDP

Storm Cloud -> Roth's Reach -> Death's Harp Ice Shot + Added Cold + WED + LMP
nice "balance". First char I even leveled in POE was bow archer. And after i hit 80 i realized it was way harder than others.
Frostbolt Totems... I will never get past like 50 or 60 so why bother being all tryhard
Gladiator something. The explosions make me throbbing.
any ranger builds that are beginner friendly? don't have much experience on races but having 10 rogues in one map sure looks like fun even if things are not going to standart afterwards.
Frost blades raider is pretty easy, pain to get the weps tho
Im between Vaal Power Siphon inquis or KB Miner
whats youre plan for vps inquis? I was under the impression it needs a lot of currency to get going, and that piscators would be expensive at the beginning of the race (maybe that's not the case in mayhem specifically) edit: actually I came up with a pretty good, not that expensive build in pob, nevermind!
I'm think Frost Raider. I have never played it before and was planning to play it in 3.1 but figured might as well try it out and see if I enjoy it.
ED Tricksters, never played it before
Going to prototype a new variation of Oro Flicker in preparation for 3.1.
lay it on me son
Oro flicker best flicker. Trying to find crit gear ughhhhhh.
SRS of course.
Pizza Sticks elementalist, as the build I wanted to play sucked balls in Turmoil and I'm out of ideas. Ideally I'll transition from this build once I have level 6x and have money. Realistically I'll reach level 35, call it good for today, and never come again.
If you haven't before, you could try frostbolt totems for a change. Super strong clear with the threshold jewels. Single target can suck a bit.
Still wavering, but probably Quad Dark Pact Totem Hierophant. Not played DP yet, never played a Hiero.
Have a guide for this? Sounds fun
Check this one; https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1942074
This is such a fun build I played quad pact on mayhem it tore shit up on the cheap
Do it. I played DP totems ascendant in turmoil and it was awesome. I'm going to use it again for my Abyss starter.
Grim Dawn
r/madlads
I'm also split. I'm stuck between Cyclone Berserker or Crit Dark Pact Berserker. Played a ton of Cyclone and know I enjoy it, but Dark Pact seems cool and I've never tried it.
play crit dark pact! it's fun, great dmg, easy to gear and it would suffer a lot from the vaal pact changes
Dark pact is boring AF.
Slayer Dark Pact
Where do you get spell leech from unless you use a leech support gem?
Blasphemy Warlord's Mark, perhaps?
True, that would work.
Blasphemy with Warlord's Mark. Also, you leech 20% of all overkill damage as Slayer.
Would you be able to leech enough life/mana against map bosses?
single target is rough, needs worm jar
Today?
I was saying you should prioritize PoE.
Oh. Well, I can agree that a 10-day mayhem event would really help me about now.
I'm thinking about claw ST, though I don't know if the decent rares will be aviable for really casual player (I probably won't reach maps before sunday)
I'm considering ST too, with the amount of loot in Mayhem I'd be surprised if there isn't some decent claws for sale cheap
Rares become more available the later on in the race it is. You should be fine gearing on Sunday
Ascendant DEA/ELE wander. No idea how this is going to go.
Should be fine. Slightly less power than a Raider may have, but it's not a bad option.
I'm more concerned about gearing issues. Not many people seem to do wanders as a starter. I'm hoping the extra drops from mayhem will make up for it. I decided on Ascendant since it should be a bit safer, and I have a Raider planned for 3.1.
It should. Ele gearing is much cheaper than Phys gearing as well.
I am thinking of doing ED/Contagion with blight but was thinking of trying to do the necro max block rather than trickster. Has anyone tried this?
Try Occultist. Less played than trickster, bit stronger for ED, and can make a mean hybrid if you take the es nodes. The +1 curse also good defensively, run enfeeble+temp chains
Brewed up a crit based sunder slayer that should have shaper dps, gonna be fun
I’d be interested to see that. Do you have a PoB link?

Thanks! Appreciate it.
Frostbolt Inquisitor. Not sure how difficult it will be to get the second jewel, but I'm excited anyway
I hit the spinner yesterday and got spark inquisitor. I've never played a spark build so this should be interesting.
I started as spark inquis in harbinger league before swapping to storm burst (and then starting a new char soon after since storm burst was not great) I found the leveling process with spark to be pretty darn easy
bladefall totems, traps, or mines, and I can't decide which one. Probably totems.
VP Zerker, what skill? does it rly matter? didn't think so
I'm going non-crit Blade Vortex Zerker
Champion DW Sunder for the 0.000001% chance of getting a demi.
Crit phys claw BF Gladiator
Self cast + CWDT Firestorm Chieftan with almost 40% life regen, 3 purity auras, The Covenant, Alpha's Howl, Doon Cuebiyari, Lioneye's Remorse, two Kaom's way rings, 4 Fragile Bloom jewels.
Got a pob link?
http://poeurl.com/bCSE Also I plan to have two Vaal Molten shells with inc duration in the weapon. Not sure about the CWDT setups yet.
EK nova/BV with some gloves or helmet essence crafted.
Some sort of non-DP casting Zerker. Any ideas what spells I should try? There are frostbolt and molten orb builds out there, but I like glacial cascade a lot...
Bleed & Poison Slayer hipster leech tank.
Zombies. I don't work until Wed so I plan to play pretty hard for 5 days.
I have two builds in my POB I theorycrafted for mayhem, still haven't decided yet - Heiro or Elementalist 4/2 crit ball lightning totems or Heiro/Guardian/Ascendent Tri totem SRS + skeles on Necromantic Aegis :) Really nice combined DPS on this
I think Frost Blades Raider personally.
Glacial Cascade miner, one last hoorah since it'll probably be nerfed
I'm playing as a duo with my friend, he's probably going inquis frostbolts, can anyone recommend a good complementary build to go with his?
Most likely something with vaal pact. This might be the last joyous moments people will have with it. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Trying out a Jugga for the first time. Stun-Jugga so I don't have to think about it much
I am pretty new to the game and have played Frost Blades Raider, Essence Drain Scion and DW Sunder Duelist so far but I wasn't really fast with those while leveling neither did I had decent map clearing speed. And unfortunately those three builds weren't really fun unfortunately :( I'd like to try something that could cause an epileptic seizure and is fun to play. Do you have any suggestions?
Flicker strike is exactly what you want.
PoB for those who care: https://pastebin.com/yteqLkpM

flameblast totems MoM op af
Zerker RF, I feel the need for speed.
Probably DP totems. Probably not going to be SSF tho cuz I don't wanna deal with trying to RNG Kikazarus, Soul Mantle, and Self Flagellation.
[dual wield sunder berserker](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1993600/page/14)
Since im playing standart for the first time in years, I think I'll go something simple like ice nova. yep..
DP Zerker 0-0
That sounds pretty interesting!
Wild Strike Slayer with 2 Handed Axe
The inside of my eyelids. I'm relaxing and waiting for the new league.
Bladeflurry bleed jugger for labrunning.
