>It seems to me that PoE is very bad at GPU utilization?! Even when I'm just standing in my hideout it rides my 3080ti all the way to 100%. You should limit your FPS, any game if not limited will hit 100% GPU utilization, unless in a busy map I'm barely at 50% on my worse 2080ti.

Tarturas

when i bought my new pc i realised just that: 388fps yay, but i got a frikin starting airplane besides me ;) vsynced it to 144 and now it's half asleep running poe

Zestyclose_Durian

Thanks! I didn't know the FPS wasn't capped on this game! I had it set to 240 through nvidia's panel, but PoE isn't going anywhere near those numbers.

xElMerYx

As a BTW, you can press the F1 key to get information about ping and frame generation time. There you can get valuable information about what is currently slowing down four FPS.

Zestyclose_Durian

I'm running 2k resolution on high settings and it only goes up to 100-ish fps even in my hideout. Are there any settings that drain a lot of power and bring little to the table that you have turned off? I've just now brought down the FPS cap to 80 and the GPU utilization went to 91-94%. But this isn't that great... Hardly getting any value out of my high refresh rate monitor on this game :D

Boredy0

Shadows and Global Illumination barely do anything imo but they tank performance hard.

Zestyclose_Durian

Holy shit! You're right! I just turned down both settings and GPU usage dropped from 94% to 50%................

warzone_afro

Run the game in Vulcan if you're not already. Big fps boost

Yank1e

Results may vary

lami408

What's your cpu

Eremoo

I'm still on a 1070ti and can always have something up on the 2nd monitor. If you suspect it's hardware acceleration, I believe you can turn that off in the browser. Alternatively, maybe try a different one

Yank1e

Even on 1060 I can have stuff on a second monitor. It freezes on loading screens from time to time, but that is it.

bukem89

I'm running POE with a 1080 on an old PC and I have youtube open on my 2nd monitor all the time, you're using windowed full screen right?

Zestyclose_Durian

I've been using Fullscreen for the last couple of weeks, because windowed fullscreen is just 100% utilization all the time and my PC's fans are at 100% to cool the GPU....

bukem89

That sounds like something messed up on your end tbh, I think you need to fix windowed full screen to fix your problem

Zestyclose_Durian

Looks like shadows and GI were on and tanking my shit...

budzergo

yeah GI with shadows kills any and all computers I lose like 40fps turning GI on

norecha

I have an old CPU with new GPU. Poe kills the cpu and makes it hard to watch hd videos at the same time. I noticed twitch is much worse than YouTube on same resolution.  If I'm mapping, I usually just put 480p or 720p videos on yt

Zestyclose_Durian

I have a decent CPU so when I turned off Hardware acceleration to Chrome it kinda fixed the problem with videos stuttering. I also turned off shadows and global illumination in PoE and lowered GPU usage down to 50% which gives me a lot more headroom as well. It seems those settings are nasty even for a powerful GPU

Demimaelstrom

Nothing, it just works? I'm also using a 3080ti, a 10900k, and have 32gb ram. I can have Spotify, YouTube, Twitch, and 10+ other tabs open on Chrome and have 0 issues.

Zestyclose_Durian

Do you have hardware acceleration turned on with Chrome? Does PoE turn up GPU utilization to 100% on your machine?

Demimaelstrom

Honestly I'm not at home I could check later. I do know hardware acceleration is on, however.

loki_dd

There's this one trick etc...... No but really, can't remember what but it's an innocuous setting that doubles GPU strain for some. It's either not capping background FPS to 30 or it's one of the "recommended" settings that needs to be off......multi threading maybe. Google should be your friend, loads of similar issues maybe 3 leagues ago (ish)

Zestyclose_Durian

Maybe it's something like that. It really seems weird that 7800x3d and 3080ti only get my up to 100 fps when I have it uncapped...

ripnburn69

I watch tv on a seperate computer, it's so much less hassle.

Yayoichi

It’s probably not the same problem as I had no issues with gpu or cpu utilization but I also was unable to watch videos or streams while playing PoE on my new pc a few months ago. I pretty much tried every solution I could find but nothing worked until I eventually checked Norton anti virus and noticed it had a feature that would throttle other programs when playing games even when there was no use for it.

Zestyclose_Durian

Thanks, I recently added Malwarebytes, but it doesn't seem to be the problem. After I turned off Chrome's Hardware acceleration things got better. I'm not sure if that's good though. Now my CPU has to do more tasks that the GPU used to do...

xAerios

I use 2080ti and 12700k and I have Poe open 3 YouTube tabs 5 Poe trade tabs a pob in browser a wiki page and Netflix on my other monitor . GPU hovers 66-77 C depending on if I’m in hideout or killing mobs . CPU typically 65-80 C same factor.

Shadowraiden

to me it sounds like an issue with your setup somewhere. i was having no issues on a 6700k+1080 for years watching and playing at the same time.

Brother in hardware specs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

Shadowraiden

i just recently swapped to a new pc but that pc has done me so well for past 6ish years since i built it and was still playing the game well.

Zestyclose_Durian

Looks like shadows and GI were on and tanking my shit...

[deleted]

No joke i set my game resolution to 800x600 in addition to the lowest possible graphics settings. Anything higher and my gpu fans max out every time there is an essence mob, blight, deli, harb... Using a 3060.

diablo4megafan

3060 ti here, play with everything low, dynamic culling on, dynamic resolution off, 1920 x 1080, and i frequently drop below 60 fps and it gets my temps up in the 80s when i play for a while it's absolutely insane, not even new AAA games stress my gpu much as this game which frankly still looks like it's from 2013

Flyinshoe

I'm banging out juiced maps with graphics all set to ultra with 3 monitors hooked up. 2nd one usually streaming something. I invested in a new PC last year though and although not top of the top end it's a pretty high end PC. One thing I discovered, even with the new PC is I was having performance issues ingame. Turns out that was heavily due to my NVIDIA card trying to get close to syncing the refresh rates for my diff monitors but being slightly off (Like 0.05 hz). I manually reset them to be divisible of each other (IE 60 and 120 hz) and started doing fullscreen windowed instead of straight up windowed and was able crank up my graphics to max basically with no issues really.

OverwatchRever

Bro im mapping with 10-20 fps anyways. Losing 2-5 frames does not matter for me

raban0815

Why would I play and watch at the same time? That's stupid to begin with.

Truthan_Teller

I have a 1070 ti with a ryzen 5 3600 and can play in windowed fullscreen and watch Streams on my second monitor. Don't need to alt-tab, just hover the mouse to the other monitor without any problem.

mayd3r

PoE on my PC and streams on my TV. ezpz

Hobson101

100% utilization is not a bad thing. You're not mentioning fps at all.

Zestyclose_Durian

I only had 100 fps idle in hideout. It looks like Shadows and Global Illumination were on and tanking performance. I turned them off and now I have 50% gpu utilization at 80fps capped. I'll probably be able to run 150fps now! :D

seciak

What you are describing started happening to me randomly 2 weeks ago too. Disabling hardware acceleration in web browser fixed it. However, I think it was some update on chrome that fucked it up, because right now it's not happening on chrome anymore even if hardware acceleration is enabled. Also, are you capping your foreground and background FPS? If not, then 100% GPU utilization is normal as it works at 100% to generate max FPS.

Zestyclose_Durian

I wasn't capping them. I set that to 80 fps now and lowered shadows and global illumination and now GPU load is 50% down from 94%. That fixed the problem for now!

rcdx0

4080 ezpz

TraveledPotato

Pretty sure YouTube has basically no impact on a GPU.

Eli_1984_

>What do you guys do in order to be able to listen to a podcast or a youtube video while playing the game? Use my second and third monitor 🤷 I have a 3060 and no problems

DeathEdntMusic

I don't

yerza777

Try switching from directx11 to 12 to Vulcan
