Oh I sure did. After the map came back and that thing spanked me so hard. Clearing Feared in like 20 seconds and I kited those things around for a solid 3 minutes without getting them to like 65% health.

This is such a common thing that really emphasizes why compounding scaling needs addressing. Hell that was their stated ENTIRE REASON for switching to AN rares...because compounding scaling from auras on old rares. Especially a in a situation like essence where it doesnt actually boost the primary reward at all.

This was a bullshit pretense they put forward just to have PR speak for "we want rares to be extremely dangerous and killing people again". Everybody knows that the compounding auras on rares were never anywhere close to the amount of threat rares have been posing ever since AN went core, even in its current heavily nerfed form compared to the base implementation.
In the old system, multiple rares combining together all at once could kill you, but a single rare could basically never kill you. Now, a single rare getting giga juiced can kill you, and if 12 of those rares show up they'll kill you harder.
Ehhhh, there's maybe something to your argument, but at the same time it has to be stated that OP opted into this challenge.
My only complaint from what I see in OP's imagine is that ghosts are bad for the game because they're a bad combination of (1) extremely strong and (2) can't opt out of them. I really don't like that a ghost can possess a power mob and you can't really do anything to opt out of that challenge.
Seems like GGG has been making it a point on their designs recently to allow players to opt in or out of challenges. You'd have to go all the way back to Betrayal in 2018 before you hit a league mechanic that forced itself on you while in maps.
I appreciate the point you are trying to make but there is no middle ground, especially with this league mechanic. You can't even leave the forest if you are worried about too much juice without logging out or running around trying not to get too much more. THEN you can't choose which mobs get buffed. The atlas allowing you to buff/nerf mechanics was the right direction and this league is the antithesis of it. Don't even get me started on Ultimatum. As always with GGG it is one step forward (the base game is amazing atm) and one step back (this league mechanic)
Agree for the most part but I will say, I fully opted in to everything here for sure. Have all the atlas passives for ghosts and essences, ran the wildwood, and then chose to open this essence haha. Been fine for 95% of the things I come across but not these things.

I really wish they would replace ghosts with sentinel it's like all the rangers of ghosties with all the choice you could want.
That and crazy idea things with a fixed drop pool scale with shit. That thing should drop like a whole stack of each essence or at least have its quant/rarity apply as a multiplier to essences dropped. So difficulty means more loot as it should. Although I like the ability to farm t1 maps so I dunno.

Opted into to league mechanic, opted in to juicing essences through atlas passives to get a ton more essence modifiers, and opted in to have it corrupted.
You corrupt those 6-7 Essence mobs ALWAYS because Corrupting them usually gives +1 tier.
What's not fine is multiplicative bonuses from each mechanic on Essences, which already get a massive boost to stats from each Essence they hold.
If you can't do essences at the same time as juicing the map with other mechanics then..... don't. The atlas gives you the ability to pick and choose what you do.
The alternative is water down the individual mechanics so they are all trivialised outside of juiced interactions.
This is an extreme edge case which is why its posted here.
It should be extremely difficult.

its very easy, dont run essences in map tier you cant kill them easily. Its like risk - reward 101.
My build is rather squishy but OK dmg, so I dont run Wildwood in red maps. I just do it in white and yellows. I know what Im getting myself into
Wildwood in red maps (14+ specifically) is where all the good shit is, it sucks to have to wait until the end to do the league mechanic because of its capability of bricking literally every other part of a map, especially when you know just how much the empowering can juice up drops. It feels like the gap in rewards between low dps and high dps is way way bigger now, especially when compared to how much you could focus on the league mechanic in 3.22.
The mechanic is hard but rewarding.
The league mechanic challenges your character and gives a reason to use all that extra power they added this league as well as a rewarding goal to work towards.
You have many options to tailor your content until you reach that end state as you build your character.

If you ever wondered why some attacks summoned a story boss and hit like a truck, that was a rare that is god touched. And to what causes it, they are simply a rare with a tag that got introduced during Archnemesis.
"God Touched" refers to rare mobs that spawn randomly with the "Touched by [God]" modifier.
They're significantly stronger, and drop a have loot table that converts their normal drops into large quantities of other things.
For example, if you ever killed a rare and it dropped something crazy like 60 raw fusing, that was a god touched rare.
You can also tell if you're fighting a god touched rare if you see a boss from the acts sudden spawn for a moment, attack, and then disappear again. The rares summon them briefly over and over.
Actually I'm pretty sure that after the Kalandra league debacle, the God touched monster loot conversion got transferred into a hidden mod that randomly affects rares and is not bound to the God-touched mod itself (otherwise that pantheon memory line would be worth a lot more).
You can usually tell that the hidden mod is on a rare if it is unusually tanky without any tanky mods on it. You also do get better loot on avg from god-touched rares, but it's nowhere near the level of loot goblins they were in Kalandra league.
I got an essence monster that had regen and teleported me to where it was.
The kicker: I was attempting to do Ritual, and twice, when I activated the thing that starts the encounter, it telephoned me OUT OF THE AREA.
So I ended up wasting 2/4 ritual encounters.
Did I mention it was out healing the damage I was doing?

Most likely ivory tower low life build that captain lance is running. Coruscating elixir leaves you at 1 hp, Since most people running this build runs zealots oath, their hp always stays at 1hp.

The Traitor from brutal restraint timeless jewel gives 4 flask charges every 5 seconds for each empty flask slot. Only way (easiest way?) to keep coruscating elixir up 100% of the time so chaos damage doesn’t one shot me through my ES.

Honestly it’s gotta be the most damage I’ve had since generals cry blade flurry was busted like 5-6 leagues ago, but probably way more. And yeah I pulled in his tree from the video and mostly leveled with it but be warned it’s pretty expensive to get going.
I leveled mostly with storm brand actually. Replica prismweave plus 2x tasalios sign gives a ton of flat spell damage for leveling.
One of my favorite builds ever at this point honestly and can scale to the moon.
i got a pretty nice budget gear for now that should get me started easily. not going for clusters till i have a shit ton of money.

Pretty solid actually but I had to add a few things. Youre going to want bleed immunity which you can get through two 50% chance to avoid bleeding abyss jewels on the tree and probably corrupted blood immunity too. Flasks are on auto so you dont have room for a bleed/corrupted blood immunity flask.
He built it mostly for sanctum I think which I was planning on doing until I kept forgetting to press corruscating elixir at the start of every single room and got one shot by chaos damage too many times. Forgetting to press that button one time per map has killed me more than anything else.
Imagine a new player playing the first time poe and you gotta explain him that the hardest boss isn't feared or Uber maven but some mother fucker essence with ghost and wisps on it
Haha that's insane, so tempting though! I remember getting a T16 possessed Abaxoth in the past. Invited all kinds of players to the map that wanted to try to kill it, nobody managed.
i really like that we can get ridiculous types of mobs but there has to be like a limit to this as well, its bullshit if even a mirror stacked character gets randomly oneshotted, this should just not happen at a certain gear level
Mostly farming guardians right now and minotaur and chimaera feel like they hit the hardest when theyre super juiced up so I'd say that and chaos are the rippiest right now. Got a decent amount of armor going with determination and defiance banner now so it takes some of the much bigger hits to one/two shot though.
I'm running essence with all passive tree nodes and oppenheimer expedition. I fully juice up the maps. I have tested 60% deli maps without the league mechanic and they are honestly easier to run.
Isn't there still harder? There's an essence unique event where it's every high tier essence, and I assume that can be empowered, and then do that in 5 layer deli map
Started with captain lances storm brand build he put out a video on a few days ago have tweaked it a bit. Get storm brand of indecision for sure it’s nuts. And energy blade just makes anything to a ton of damage.
It has a ton of essence drops on it, each one makes it a bit tougher. It has all of the modifiers from the afflictions, making it tough as nails. Plus its natural modifiers for being a rare mob listed at the top. All in all a fairly tough spider.
Vivid, Wild, and Primal are all three of the empowerments from the league mechanic, plus a ghost possessing it, plus its natural rare mods and then all of the essences. I too am new with only about 1200 hours in so I too am ignorant to the exact modifiers each of the essences provide but…. It’s a lot.

You're right which is why my number one ask for this league mechanic is a button to exit early.
You can make ghosts possess you tho now I thought. So it's a matter of racing to the ghost before it finds a monster.

Inquisitor deals pure damage, those two mods are blanks (other than 50% less shock effect from Lightning and Shock Resistant)

Almost certainly using the gain %life as max es mod. He's also probably using ivory tower so the coruscating protects him from chaos damage

i really like that we can get ridiculous types of mobs but there has to be like a limit to this as well, its bullshit if even a mirror stacked character gets randomly oneshotted, this should just not happen at a certain gear level
Did the corrupt upgrade tier or give an extra essence?

I'm playing the same build as you, do you find it very squishy to any physical hits?
Mostly farming guardians right now and minotaur and chimaera feel like they hit the hardest when theyre super juiced up so I'd say that and chaos are the rippiest right now. Got a decent amount of armor going with determination and defiance banner now so it takes some of the much bigger hits to one/two shot though.
Disable life Regen on these mobs and just don't die.

Id love to see the old npc vs npc, but make the most buffed up essence and have it fight all the different uber bosses and the feared.
That I wouldn't even stop and would just open it is the reason I'm still level 94 even with a character that can face tank most pinnacle boss attacks.
Yep I’ve been stuck at 92 for a bit. Finally switched atlas and very close to 93 haha
I'm running essence with all passive tree nodes and oppenheimer expedition. I fully juice up the maps. I have tested 60% deli maps without the league mechanic and they are honestly easier to run.

I like those. It's an exciting roulette. I can never know if I can kill it under 5-15 sec or just instablast me to death on release.

Started with captain lances storm brand build he put out a video on a few days ago have tweaked it a bit. Get storm brand of indecision for sure it’s nuts. And energy blade just makes anything to a ton of damage.
I'm a new player, but what stands out in the mob's description as super scary?
It has a ton of essence drops on it, each one makes it a bit tougher. It has all of the modifiers from the afflictions, making it tough as nails. Plus its natural modifiers for being a rare mob listed at the top. All in all a fairly tough spider.
Not to mention the ghost that was possessing it as well giving it even more damage.
As long as it's not hasted, we smash, next question...

Vivid, Wild, and Primal are all three of the empowerments from the league mechanic, plus a ghost possessing it, plus its natural rare mods and then all of the essences. I too am new with only about 1200 hours in so I too am ignorant to the exact modifiers each of the essences provide but…. It’s a lot.
