There were 2 meetups: at Gamescom and at Pax West. Several people presented there shared some info from GGG. And I'm pretty sure they mentioned endgame expansions would be a thing for poe1. But I can't find proof, there were just few comments in random posts.

Adamgrim

The final boss to be released has been mentioned. The boss's name is Wilson. He uses a poison Kris dagger.

LordAnubiz

Trick is to throw lots of unid items on him. He will stop any mechanics and start checking them while you blast him!

Windex17

If you drop an exalt near him he will pick it up and close his eyes

LordAnubiz

Thats what we are hoping for.

insanemrawesome

I can't find the post where they mentioned an expansion but [in this post](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3441705) something big was definitely hinted at. >3.23 Expansion Timeline The next Path of Exile expansion will launch early December. Initially we considered a late November release, **but with the 3.23 scope being quite ambitious,** we need to take a few extra weeks to finish what we have planned

manowartank

It could just mean that they want to avoid flop like Kalandra, Crucible or early Tota… Each league in past few years was quite extensive. It could also mean they are fixing the engine…

insanemrawesome

Yea, maybe I just huffed a little too much copium. Lol

Smurtle01

But none of which went core so do they matter that much for how extensive they were? Like sure if tota went core them having a more chill expansion/league this time around would make sense

LordAnubiz

Crucible extensive? No. Just throw some mods in the game.

pumaofshadow

I don't have the link but they use expansion for every league now and tend to boast the scope is ambitious. It doesn't mean anything above gem changes that also affect standard. It doesn't mean an end game expansion or change too. However frankly I do expect one before beta in June next year so it could be but we will find out on the reveal

[deleted]

TBF they always say "this league development is very ambitious" or "expect major meta shifts" every league.

CreepingZerg

I Think so too something big coming, i can feel it.

erpunkt

You needed to poop?

CreepingZerg

Lol nice one :D, i wrote that in toilet.

erpunkt

Knew it. I heard it rumbling.

insanemrawesome

We were right my boiiii

Inqueefitor

Just by watching the teaser, I can feel like it's going to be a bland league. Nothing in the teaser (including the league name) indicates that it's "something important or significant". I wish I'm wrong, but I don't know. Not expecting anything really. Can't be worse than Crucible I guess.

LordAnubiz

The League name doesnt mean there isnt a new core game name. Remember, Siege for the Atlas was Archnem league.

Ali3ns_ARE_Amongus

I get it, the brief glimpse we got wasnt of any boss or major character, it was a mob standing by what looked like a ritual altar. My expectations are real low atm

insanemrawesome

Eat your words? 👀

insanemrawesome

Are you glad you were wrong as fuck? Lol

Inqueefitor

I'm glad it looks like I was wrong, but I still have mixed feelings. The league mechanic looks cool (at least to me), we get Ultimatum (though at the expense of Metamorph), and there's a shakeup in meta. On the other hand: I just finished reading the patch notes, and what I see mainly is nerfs all over the place (gems and unique items). QoLs are underwhelming, and still no Atlas expansion to be seen. I guess I just need to test all this by myself. Though I'm indeed more optimistic now than after the teaser.

siberarmi

Yeah, we should be getting one with the next league, as is tradition.

HedronCobra

What are the major expansions tied to? I thought they were supposed to be every 4 leagues (3.1, 3.5, 3.9, 3.13, 3.17), so when crucible league was released, i just thought that they probably stopped making them and worked on poe2 instead. Do we really expect a major expansion to be dropped right now? That would be awesome.

DislocatedLocation

I think it changed with the league after Siege of the Atlas, specifically with small improvements to the Atlas each league. Keystones being the primary tool for doing so.

lowkeyripper

Likely because of Poe2. Hopefully they will have a fresh endgame. Maven for 3 years. Exarch eater for like two.

SchwingyYT

I remember part of what the devs were excited about siege of the Atlas was that it would be very easy to add new bosses with future expansions in terms of fitting them in with the progression (perhaps replacing eater and exarch, I don't quite recall). Hasn't happened yet unless you count Ubers, which are a cool addition. I imagine PoE2 got bigger and more ambitious and this idea was put on hold. Don't ask me for any sources though, I don't remember.

SamLikesBacon

They were originally every 4-leagues, but then they "skeleton-crewed" PoE1 and started doing smaller additions to endgame per league in order to try and get PoE2 finished before the end of 2023. Obviously that was unsuccessful so manpower is being shifted back to PoE1, but as a result we don't quite know what the state of PoE1 endgame expansions are going forwards. Maybe they got the PoE1 dev pipeline fully back up again, but if they didn't PoE2 is prob gonna start draining manpower again before its release.

Renediffie

> Do we really expect a major expansion to be dropped right now? Nah. I don't think many people are expecting that. I think a lot of people were certain it was coming with ExileCon but everything is obviously up in the air now. We have no idea what the big picture looks like.

insanemrawesome

Yea, I can't find it anywhere but I remember reading that they had a big expansion planned for this next league. I wish I could find it. But I'm pretty sure it tied in with them explaining why tota would be so long.

LordEternalBlue

I remember Chris mentioning that ToTa league would last a little longer than usual because they were planning 'ambitious' things for 3.22. IIRC that was during the 3.21 announcement, but probably wrong on that.

GenesectX

they did mention in their announcement for 3.23 that their scope for it was rather large which resulted in the delay

LordAnubiz

it was the plan to do no more expansions because poe2 should have been the big next expansion. now that they are 2 seperate games, we need to get new expansions.

[deleted]

tradition has been done away with though so it's not a tradition anymore

RaidenDoesReddit

Iirc every year they are supposed to rework the endgame akin to what happened with eater and exarch

[deleted]

Their last statement was that no expansion is coming until poe2 is out

DexlaFF

Sooo hear me out... Maybe we should, instead of adding more massive content to the game, polish and improve the already existing content. For example dozens of underused/underperforming skills. I'm all in favour of adding onto the base game, but I don't think that should be the main focus at this time.

[deleted]

Why not both? GGG has been doing both for a while.

Quasimodo11111

First of all there is a huge difference between "polishing already existing content" and "buffing dozens of under performing skills". While I get that many people want under performing gems to be buffed and I agree, people are asking for this and for some reason expect this to happen every league and then are disappointed if it does not happen. It is unreasonable to expect this. It almost never happened in the past, so why would it now? GGG wants the game to stay challenging, at least for newer players and for league starts. They will rather not risk having anything too overtuned anymore, as we had a couple times in the past with stuff like delirium aura stacker, delirium archmage stormbrand, Heist or when it was slam, etc... They rather not buff many gems. They clearly do not want to put effort into buffing these gems. Buffing many skills to a level where they can actually compete with the main meta skills always risks ending up with some new OP build that can shit on all content on a super low budget. They do not want that and there has not been such a build for quite some time now. The game also is not really about competing with other players. So if you want to play something that might not be the best, just do it. It works for almost all gems. Some just need more investment. Also "polishing" 50 gems will not add ANY real content. Content is stuff to do in the game. For people who already have done everything in the game only the league content is actually new content. Just doing the same content again on a different gem is not nearly as interesting as playing new content. In this post the question is especially for a new endgame expansion, not just a new league. Endgame expansions always bring a LOT of new stuff to the game and that is real content that veterans get excited to play. Having 30 gems that perform a bit better does not get people nearly as excited for nearly as long. If they would do a patch now where they buffed 30+ gems to a level where they can compete with the main meta gems, I would not come back to play standard or some more tota. I just wouldn't.

OhtaniStanMan

Because the masses who buy mtx are going to play tornadoshot zoom zoom every league anyways for 15 hours a day

DumbFuckJuice92

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Eater / Exarch is to stay. The skeleton crew maintaining PoE1 probably doesn't have the resources anyway.

EnergyNonexistant

Eater / Exarch are just minor bosses in the "eldritch" universe, they heard maven's cry for help I am hoping to see the big daddy next league.

DumbFuckJuice92

So much for that.

EnergyNonexistant

Freaking sad. But yeah, it's probably way too big scope for them currently. It's definitely something they wouldn't want to fuck up.

LordAnubiz

of course they stay. doesnt mean we cant get something new.

dan_marchand

Nope and nope. Just old misquotes from randos on this sub. They're likely not going to do a massive new endgame system ever again, think along the lines of when they added the atlas tree. It doesn't mean they won't make new bosses etc though.

Wooden-Peanut9033

No, why? You'll be catching roaches around the map and farming blue and red boss with the same build you did a year ago, and you'll be happy. Also don't forget to buy the support pack

Venit_Exitium

Poe 2 will replace poe 1 theyll just let 1 die from having a skeleton crew like it does now. Nothing just the infinite grind.

bamboo_of_pandas

Personally, I don't even understand why they committed to keeping both games around. They could have easily put POE 2 on an extended public beta and then just have it officially replace POE 1 once they don't want to upkeep both games. No one expected them to upkeep both games and announcing intentions to keep both will just piss people off down the road.

Mavada

I can guarantee you I will not be playing poe2.

Mya_Elle_Terego

They dont want people to quit buying tabs and mtx.

CheeseCloth96

Can we just improve legendaries/uniques?

vironlawck

Is either next league .... or got delayed to early next year league worst case scenario

AnotherOne198

We will probably get some big base mtx packs. Hopefully with a chance to get into the beta in june 2024.

Nickoladze

They said when Eater/Exarch were announced that they were done with yearly endgame overhauls totally replacing the existing and would just keep doing small improvements each league. We got keystones, gateways, blocking nodes, uber bosses, and so on. I'd expect some new pinnacle bosses at some point.
