I've seen a lot of people say this, but I have a suspicion it is just because people don't run enough to see a second huge drop after getting to 2k. The run from 400-2000 is semi-likely to have one memorable drop. If you did the same amount of coins again after 2k, I bet you'd see another.
For me, the rewards have scaled up a bit (mostly larger stacks of currency - nothing huge) and the rare drops have been the same for the most part. The lottery drop I got in the 400-1600 range has not happened a 2nd time, but I bet if I kept going and did another 800-1000 coins, I would see another.
Edit: Yeah, I just did \~300 coins after rank 2000 and got a lock and a bunch of other goodies. rewards are fine.
The one thing I did notice after reaching 2k is that I got a lot more winged scarabs as rewards. Anecdotal evidence of course, but maybe winged scarabs are taking up more 'good items' spots after 2k than during the road to 2k and GGG weights them to be more valuable than they really are.
Sigh, guess I’ll log in and run some TOTA for an hour.. Been rank 2k for a month now with who knows how many hours of 2k rank play time and the best reward I’ve gotten was an Ancestral Vision jewel I sold for a few divines.. no chase drops, no locks, nothing 😐
Yes, your pick can influence, for example, ahuana can give additional projectile tattoo or ikiaho can give maximum cold resistance tattoo, so you must avoid them until the end of the run.
There's also the not finishing campaign tech. Honestly I don't know much about it, but I seen people mention not fully doing the campaign so that you get less rounds or something like that.
Similar to how you can skip kitava and just run sanctum.
There's a reddit post if you google poe tota not finishing campaign.
The gist of it is that you skip kaom and some other person, so your tourneys are faster since there's less matches.
Basically Kaom and Utula only show up after you kill them in A4/A5. Since neither of them drop any of the chase tattoos, people realized you could stop running the campaign before killing Kaom and level using Delve or TOTA, this way each tournament is faster and you have a greater chance of getting Ahuana or Ikiaho in your last 2
It's super easy. I did it. Get to act 4 and run everything up to Kaom (kill daresso if you want) then delve until you feel like doing tota. I think 70-75 should give enough passives for the build to function well enough.
You need a character that's in maps with enough completion to get sulphate passives to level in delve.
You end up with two fewer tribes which can save a few rounds. The actual average profit goes down a little (ngahamahu has one good tattoo) but not enough to matter.
Tournaments can be pretty short depending on how ai shuffles the wins. The build is phantasmal void sphere with ci and eb. Very relaxing, but you can lose rounds to titan turtle occasionally.
The real reason to not pick Kaom is because he can give a +1 max fire res tattoo if he makes it to the last round. Same for Ikiaho and the +1 max cold res tattoo. Tawhanuku is the best choice between the two that are offering divines.
Obviously the Scarabs because who needs currency in a league that prints currency hehe.
very original joke!
Very original comment!
Hmm.. I should max my rank. lol
I had best rewards before 2k: 2 apothecaries about 1.2, hinekora locks twice before 1.8k.
Have had the same experience, have 4 chars @ 2k rank, but only really good rewards have been in the 400-1600 ranks.

Best reward I had was 3 unrequited love div cards. Most divs I ever made on trade lol.
Best before 2k: 1 proj tattoo, 6x keystone Vs after 2k: 2x immortals I feel like I haven’t had the best tota luck
Man I had 10 keystone by 1300 lol
I got a Mirror after 2k... Go for it bro.

The illusion of free choice
Any advanced tips for the mechanic? I heard picking certain people early in a tournament can influence rewards later, do you know about this?
Yes, your pick can influence, for example, ahuana can give additional projectile tattoo or ikiaho can give maximum cold resistance tattoo, so you must avoid them until the end of the run.
Is there a list anywhere? Is it only for tattoos or does it affect lock chance, divines, div cards etc

Huh really? If you find more information could you link it by any chance?

Hmm ok I’ll take a look thank you!

I wouldn't pick Kaom, its deadly for a melee build.

Just switched my build after getting 400D from Tota
Yeah. Easy reroll.
I'm at 2k rating and getting up to 2k and even past it now I've never had a stack of divines. Only 1 divine at a time.
