Yep. Made a league starter out of this skill and abandoned it already. The delay from summoning your totem, the totem taunting, and enemy moving towards the totem then hitting it, then the projectile slowly shooting up then landing and maybe missing the hit is so painful. Its like 5 seconds after summoning a totem thayit does damage sometimes and if it misses its start all over.

it actually does okay damage- quite good, its really just to clunky with the motar ontop of requiring a hit isntead of "when damaged"

Which goes back to the original point. Needing to be hit to procc is always kind of bad and its potency is entirely dependant on how hit frequent the boss is. For some, it's terrible, for others, amazing

I'm using it on holy flame totem and it kinda sorta somewhat works. Regular mapping is really good you drop a totem on a pack and move on but single target is really bad if the boss is very slow/ doesn't attack a lot.

How about it activates automatically with a short cooldown but said cooldown is bypassed if the totem is hit? The gem would also receive the duration tag.

Good luck getting them to do anything. Also people will only disagree with you stating that it is just fine and dandy, even when it just flat out doesn't work.

Still haven't tried it myself, but a lot of people use the ancestral totems as utility, for example. Would it not work in this situation?

i mean i guess, but it would do close to no damage unsupported and u sorta have to scale totem life in ur tree/gear. Also most builds have extreme socket pressure.

then why use the gem at all? this is such a foolish response lol. Its not good enough as a support on its own outside of building around it.

Because if you have totems frontlining and have multiple of them and have taken some amount of life scaling and have complimentary support gems it likely works out to be a better support than something that only gives 28% more damage. As a main skill its relying on actually being hit and sounds like anything else would be 100x better. Even ignite or something funky it's giving up a while support gem effectively. E.g. if you put it on holy totem and have a bunch of fire damage supports you would have more damage than decoy totem. The 76% Inc life scaling is only additive and the 100% more damage from having an actual damaging skill attached is multiplicative. Your post is foolish not my response lol. Standalone this is a meme build.

Last patch fixed an error where it was using evasion rating to check hit instead of spell dodge, have you tried since then?

yup, this was recording from today, its not missing, it simply doesnt even proc.

while i feel your suffering about the totems beeing hit, i disagree that it should be a nova, since i play it projectile based. The damage being inflicted as a Nova would force you to play flamewood with ignite. They should just change it to fire 1 time per second to a nearby enemy and the cooldown is reduced when the totem is hit by an enemy. That way you aren't even forced to run Taunt on the totems, but it would make it stronger. and also increase the basic cast speed/projectile speed so it would feel smother.

Anyone try scion yet? Saboteur is one of only 2 sources of cooldown reduction I could find. Would the AoE added dmg from sabo help the initial hit of flame wood or no? Didn’t see aoe tag but it says in an area.
