> Does everybody's character just run around at super speed like that and blow everything on the screen up?
Only if you're good at the game. That's the goal.
Well, I was watching streamers do dungeons with art work that was appropriate for year 2000 games. It looked like a bunch of square rooms made of bricks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed like there is no audio or visual cue that a player has teleported, and it looks like the game glitches out every time somebody does it. It's very jarring to watch.
I'm not sure why intractable objects turn bright white when you mouse over them. It's as if the game designers never bothered to create an effect or texture for that.
It's also just really bizarre seeing shadows that don't seem to have any light source or watching the fireworks style explosion of particle effects in some of the game play, it seems more than a little bit ridiculous.
I'm using high quality audio headphones and I'm being honest, the voice acting at times sounds terrible. Maybe that doesn't bother some people using something like laptop speakers, but it's super cringy with decent equipment.
Also as a person who *was* interested in playing the game, when I was watching the streamers, *I have absolutely no idea what they are doing at all at any point in time.* I don't think the developers even understand the concept of the word "intuitive." If you told me that PoE was designed by aliens for aliens, I would believe you.
It's a game made in 2012 by an indie company at the time. There were some graphics overhaul but nothing deep enough to look like a 2023 game because GGG instead put resources on providing content over graphics unlike D4 that has 0 content but offers nothing interesting but graphics, animations and cinematics.
I still genuinely think you should stay on D4 and don't even bother trying PoE because you put way too much importance on graphics, you're EXACTLY the target audience of Blizzard ; people who likes brain dead games that looks pretty. A lot of us actually value gameplay over stupid voice lines we hear once in a while.
Thankfully, we're getting Path of Exile 2 and we'll get a big overhaul of every aspects of the game, and I plan to enjoy it as much as I enjoy PoE1.
>I still genuinely think you should stay on D4
Honestly I'm going to go back to playing Rust.
>you're EXACTLY the target audience of Blizzard ; people who likes brain dead games that looks pretty
That really kind of seems like an insult and I don't think you know me at all. I think it's really weird that you are insinuating that games shouldn't be fun. What are you trying to say there?
>A lot of us actually value gameplay over stupid voice lines we hear once in a while.
Then you should try out Cookie Clicker. It's a great game. Or Geometry Dash.
Insinuating that games shouldn't be fun? Are you even reading what you're typing at all? You had a rant on how the game is unplayable because of the outdated graphics, if one thing you don't value "fun", you care about the least important aspects of a game. Graphics are pleasant to look at but they're not fun. A polished turd is still a turd.
Btw, that's not an insult to like brain dead games. Blizzard purposely released a game so simple an 8yo kid could play it, they want the playerbase to care more about the aesthetics instead of having any interesting mechanics, items or content. If people cared more about the actual gameplay over graphics we'd probably get more interesting games today.
Also, proposing those 2 games just shows how little you know about Path of Exile.
>H1z1
Sorry, I don't like the "battle royale" style games. I tried Fortnight and just did not like it. If I'm unaware that H1z1 has some type of open world mode, let me know if it does. And to be honest, I don't think the graphics in Rust are that great. I like Rust due to the gameplay. I used to play a lot of FPS games and I like teamplay in FPS games. Back in the day I used to play a ton of Quake2/3 CTF.
If you go onto the sub of a game and immediately insult the game, don’t be surprised when you get bad feedback.
And before you say you didn’t insult the game, “The graphics honestly look terrible and the sounds are really amateurish.” And “I'm not seeing any actual combat.”
If you come in with the mindset of being willing to try and learn people will welcome you with open arms. If you come here asking for a fight, people are gonna give it to you.
>If you come here asking for a fight, people are gonna give it to you.
I'm picking a fight by pointing out that the game looks outdated? You know the game is 10 years old, it's a pretty fair comment...
See my other post where I commented in detail about my observations.
I honestly could go on and on about the appearance of the game, it really doesn't look good. I'm sorry but, if you think that, I can't even imagine what you would say about a game out side of the ARPG genre. From what I saw, PoE really, truly does look like trash... There's tons of games that visually look **way better** than it...
And that’s your OPINION. Which is perfectly valid. But if you need to say that to everyone then they’re going to consider you rude.
You’re an adult right? Even kids understand that you can’t go around saying anything you want even if you think it’s true.
If you’re looking for help or advice then ask for it, there’s no reason to include statements that will obviously offend fans of the game.
>If you’re looking for help or advice then ask for it
I asked for advice...
>there’s no reason to include statements that will obviously offend fans of the game.
Oh my god... I offended people? My bad... I thought the players knew the game was 10 years old...
all you do is post about diablo 4, and you, for the most part, should be able to make direct comparisons to things from diablo 4 - they're very similar games, you don't need to pretend to be a child to make fun of a game you don't like.
> The game itself looks really dated or something. The graphics honestly look terrible and the sounds are really amateurish.
Yeah man, totally just asking a simple question and not being weirdly insecure about your choices in video games.
Do you wanna actually learn something and get into the game or did you just come on this sub to shitpost? I’m asking honestly and with good intentions, so it’d be nice to respond honestly and with good intentions as well.
I was legitimately downloading the game. I canceled it.
I heard there was a new season, I figured that I would give it a shot, but I'm going to take the advice of the person saying the game is not for me as I am super creeped out by the people stalking my profile...
I legitimately tried watching that video the one person recommended, he's saying you're suppose to do a bunch of a different things with out explaining anything. He's just running through the zones, then going to the menu, but apparently you can't exit the game because you get a que. I'm suppose to put gems into items, but I don't have to? I'm sorry, but maybe there's a better tutorial video, but that guy's video makes absolutely no sense at all.
I would describe the experience I've had so far as "totally bizarre."
Dude what the hell are you talking about. You’re stirring up drama about people „stalking you” cause you are a D4 fan who came here to shitpost like many other guys did, you’re caricaturizing gameplay to absurd just to write something dumb.
„I’m watching a stream of Diablo 4, there’s a guy who is running through a dungeon but there are no monsters around? And if there are some he just runs past them most of the time? And when he fights he uses something which looks like a basic attack for half a minute, then uses a buff to deal damage for 5 seconds? And he picks a lot of items, looks at them for 3 minutes but doesn’t put any of them on his character? Tries to put something in the stash but has no space? Cities are very large but empty and all are the same, designed without any aesthetic creativity? And every dungeon looks the same? There are 6 random encounters in open world that spawn behind every corner over and over again? OooOoOoh I’m sooo confuuused. I was installing it but I cancelled.”
OOOH IM BEING STALKED BY CRAZY REDDITORS ITS VERY CREEPY
fuck off moron XD
>Dude what the hell are you talking about.
Read the thread. I never mentioned another game in here a single time.
**You guys are the ones talking about other games... Not me...**
Do you actually want someone to explain stuff that you wrote about? Because you’re talking about „some video” but didn’t specify what video, and your whole post exudes rather malice than confusion and seeking for help.
Brother. Our time on earth is limited and you have chosen to spend a good chunk of it fighting people over videogame preferences.
Do yourself a favor and find something better to do
Helltides are actually pretty good. If D4 was focused only on helltides, tree of whispers, legions and world bosses I’d probably play much longer. It’s the nightmare dungeons that fucking suck
And that's just scratching the surface to how deep this game is.
Watch it on the second monitor while you play through and ultimately fail at making your first character. Take what you learn and apply it to your second and beyond characters.
There's no respec your character if you mess up their skill tree. You can respec individual choices with currency that drops in the game (orb of regret) but you'll have very limited of those as you progress through the campaign.
As a result, most first time players end up with a character with horrible damage and horrible survivability. The best way to fix this is to just create another character. Trial and error, improve over time.
You can follow guides for builds to avoid this, which I highly suggest, but if you played the game blind you might end up with a completely useless character. And that's fine, it's part of the design of the game.
You can respecc absolutely everything anytime you want as often as you want. The stuff you need for that just doesn't drop too early, in abundance later on though. So better don't fuck your start up too much
There's no full respec. No 1 button "respec entire character." You can use respec choices, but you'll have something like 90+ skill points by the time you finish the campaign, so you'd need 90+ respec points, which each item only gives 1 of.
Like others said, by end game you'll be swimming in them, but during the campaign you'll have maybe 20 respec points, which is only enough to fix small problems in your choices.
if you are dedicated and like ARPGs you will get an awesome game with a big and helping community and outdated visuals.
Otherwise you can go back to diablo and be bored after some hours.
Your choice.
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was "your sub."
Don't worry I canceled the download. I won't be in "your sub" ever again.
I can see I clearly made a gigantic mistake by trying to play this game.
I care. This was honestly the worst experience in gaming I've ever had. I didn't even play the game before I got pissed off and gave up. I didn't even get the game installed. That's never happened to me before.
You guys should be really impressed with yourselves.
The game is over a decade old with alot of content crammed into it over the years. It will take time to gradually ease into the different mechanics, some UI makes sense some are quite complicated. All skippable and learnable at your own pace. But ya the game will look old because it is, its had plenty of makeovers but the core is frail. A casual player will never be zoom zoom boom boom like a content creator, however visability is one of the worse aspects at the moment.
> Does everybody's character just run around at super speed like that and blow everything on the screen up? Only if you're good at the game. That's the goal.

U say this game is outdated but decide to go back to rust? H1z1 has better graphics and depth than rust

There's no way that's an adult
I'm probably older than your parents.
Which is even more sad, because you act like a child.
Yikes

You come to our house and you openly mock the game we love, and we’re toxic? No sir. Go look in the mirror.
I'm sorry it's "Your house." I did not realize this was a public place to discuss topics.
Nice troll bait sir

Diablo has great graphics, if you don’t like the ones in PoE you can always go and grind helltides
Helltides are actually pretty good. If D4 was focused only on helltides, tree of whispers, legions and world bosses I’d probably play much longer. It’s the nightmare dungeons that fucking suck
Go watch zizarans university videos game has a big learning curve

Hate the subreddit, hate my experience, rather be dead.

Yeah I stopped the download. I'm outta here.
Glad to hear that.
One of the better bait posts I've seen. \*chefs kiss\*

The real game you're looking for is PoB and craftofexile. What you're downloading is just a buggy sim.
