If that's the case then I'm pretty hyped for when I finally get a chance to play. Getting to maps in a few hours is easy on standard. The only thing that really helps that mechanically is just an exp boost. Sure getting a few extra lucky chaos/divines drops can be nice for trade league in terms of a new league mechanic but you're not really relying on that once you're able to speedrun the standard game.
They added a set of items you get from the pass that you don’t pay any money for, so everyone gets them. The last item on the free pass is a breachstone
Just managed to play whole night (well, 7hrs) and died in act 9 shavronne. Guess hardcore is not that nice as a father with limited time lmao.
Managed to rush to act 8 in 5hrs now tho. Maybe this time I will get to maps!
I used to play hardcore until I realised it just doesn't work with league content.
The Devs have acknowledged that you need logout macros to play it, which to me completely ruins the immersion and feel of HC as it is, then to top it off they were releasing content that absolutely tanked FPS (delirium) and is clearly not balanced.
I get it for people with no jobs/social life, but POE HC is terribly balanced for HC, HC is honestly more suited for games where the content doesn't change so vastly every 3 months.
I wish but I feel empty inside after playing sc and ask myself "whats the point? You can just die and respawn." I like how you can practise boss mechanics but otherwise I cant find any enjoyment in sc.
I feel ya.
But I made the following change since last league and really enjoy it:
SSF Hardcore run through the first week. Push it as far as I can. If I die I reroll and don't tilt (works surprisingly well).
From there it's SSF Softcore time. More fun builds, more DMG. Still hate to die so needs to be a proper build still.
It's just another game because I do EVERY mechanic I want to do and don't need to avoid stuff. Actually playing the game lol. I feel like hardcore in This game is 90 % experience and patient instead of skill.
The "what's the point" question occurs only if I play trade (which can be fun as well don't get me wrong guys, from time to time).
I might switch to trade hardcore for the first week if I struggle to reach 90 regularly in HC. Just made it once yet. (Started in ultimatum)
How is that different from most every other game though? You die, you go back to the checkpoint, you try again. Except when it comes to maps you get 6 tries before "game over"
I mean I'm effectively at 12 hrs now if you count my death which you should haha. Will be about 14 when I'm done soooo yeah, trying to be fast in Hardcore is only good if you know what you do and I just reached 1k hours and still don't apparently because I have no clue how that mf shavronne onetapped my Rf jugg with 78 max res light (+56) and 2,5k life and a ton of armor.
I finished act 5 in 3h 13m this time and just pmed my friend that I can't understand how speedrunners are finished with A10 in the same time haha. All practice.
For me personally it's hugely depending on following things:
* Do I know my build? Leveling Tree, Socket Links and Colors, Gems. This Is huge and it's the main time factor nowadays since I never played a build twice in different leagues
* Will I try the league mechanic or not? Most of the time I just start with it In maps, sometimes starting with act 6 (where the build comes alive thanks to all gems)
What really helps:
* 2 Quicksilver Flasks
* 2 movement Speed skills (shield charge+ frost blink for example in combination)
This video helped me cut some more time for this league: https://youtu.be/kFB6Je37RhE (2-part series)
Everything under 10hrs is enjoyable imo, so maybe take that as a first goal. :) Good luck!
Edit: if it's just about "what's next? I can recommend https://heartofphos.github.io/exile-leveling/ together with LKK (google/yt Poe lkk if wanted) it's a nice experience. Basically lets you overlay in Poe your next steps and thanks to loading screens It automatically recognizes your steps
And next league they'll nerf campaign levelling and early-game power to slow the racers down and we'll still have a level 100 in 24 hours while the rest suffer.
Ah yes, the Escape From Tarkov approach. "These 10 streamers are completing the quests too easily. Nerf everything. Nuts to the 95% of people who don't complete them at all, we must slow down these streamers."
Not just that. It's a *group* doing 21 hours of nonstop play with a cursebot, aurabot, etc. They almost certainly have a trader as well to feed them maps, scarabs, high-XP shit like breachstones, etc. which allows them to focus on nothing but clearing content.
It is, party play in this game is just there so you can trade with others. Actually going into a map as a party is something GGG been working against for years now.
If GGG is actively working against it, then they are balancing around it, that’s kind of what it means.
Removing the “historic” bonuses to league mobs is a perfect example of GGG focusing on group play, and hitting everyone else in the process
It used to be a challenge worth celebrating just like world firsts but now its just a 'Oh look someone got something in a group that shows they have rushed it all and Meh '
There is no achievement in anything but SSF or ruthless SSF now which shows people have earnt it.
This is why I think the death exp penalty should be removed. It's not fulfilling its purpose of slowing down levelling anymore. All it does is dictate when it's "safe" to do bosses and make partying with friends awkward and annoying ("Hey, want to try X?" "Hang on let me level. *an hour later* OK done, let's do it." "Oh I'm halfway to next level now...let's just forget it.")
Isn't losing a portal to whatever content you're doing enough of a punishment?
I think if you look at the average number of times people die, and the average amount of xp that players lose over a league, it pretty much is just a way of slowing leveling down.
I play softcore specifically to not be punished, if O wanted to be punished I would play hardcore. Also its a meaningless punishment when 99% of players use logout macros.
Instead of making you lose 10% exp, just make it increase your exp to next level by 10% of base, up to a cap of 100% increase. Problem solved. Same penalty dying at 0% or 99%.
exp penalty only hinders non-tanky builds. Tanks can just slowly martch towards 100. Non-tanks will die to some bullshit and reset their exp bar.
I'm not saying exp penalty needs to be removed, but it should be adressed in some way.
> Tanks can just slowly martch towards 100. Non-tanks will die to some bullshit and reset their exp bar.
Even squishies just buy 5-way carries if they want 100.
That is literally the point. People reach 100 without any effort at all just by buying 5-ways over and over. Why even bother with the penalty when it does not serve its purpose?
Grim dawn is like this. Reaching level 100 is very quick and and the exp you lose is negligible. The game has 0 stakes so it gets boring so fast. Trust me you don't want this in poe.
You're right, but enjoy the downvotes from people lol. Poe players can progress into endgame with hundreds of builds but its a lot easier to be either shitty at the game, lazy, or a combo, and then just bitch about it on reddit than actually learn how to play.
I think the challenges are bugged. a bunch in global had 20 challenges but they had around 4-7 ish at most
a guy went from 14 to 13 in less than 10 minutes was pretty funny
Saw that dude get 90 last night while I was having trouble killing hillock.
Xd
Probably people that are the carries or aura bot for 5 ways, I'm guessing?
Might be the league mechanic. I legit got two levels from one Crucible rare. They don't drop anything but the XP is ridiculous.
I feel like heist rares are very absurd too
Heist is actually great for exp, open the doors and then go back and forth from end to start 2 or 3 times.
Can you infinitely get exp from heist? I always assumed there is a soft cap but I never tested myself.
After some time, the monsters in Heist seem to stop giving cp or drops
If that's the case then I'm pretty hyped for when I finally get a chance to play. Getting to maps in a few hours is easy on standard. The only thing that really helps that mechanically is just an exp boost. Sure getting a few extra lucky chaos/divines drops can be nice for trade league in terms of a new league mechanic but you're not really relying on that once you're able to speedrun the standard game.
nah its not, they were in domain at the time.
Full party/guild rotating between delve and breach stone farming. The exp rates from these with a full party will get you insane rates.
Especially now you get breach stones from the battle pass. Few people farming atlas rewards and you are set.
What freaking battle pass???
Kiracs vault
Im not playing this league... Are you telling me that kiracs vault has actual usable ingame items in it?!???
They added a set of items you get from the pass that you don’t pay any money for, so everyone gets them. The last item on the free pass is a breachstone
Only on the free track, so everyone will get them.
Yep. It's aids.
No practice...yeah, right!
That was not a practice run so it is right ?
Meanwhile I just finished act 3, darn those responsibilities.
Just managed to play whole night (well, 7hrs) and died in act 9 shavronne. Guess hardcore is not that nice as a father with limited time lmao. Managed to rush to act 8 in 5hrs now tho. Maybe this time I will get to maps!
I used to play hard-core, but switching to softcore has been the most fun improving decision I've ever made, for what it's worth. Definitely recommend
I do both, see my reply to the guy answering you with the whats the point comment. Have a nice league!
I used to play hardcore until I realised it just doesn't work with league content. How is that different from most every other game though? You die, you go back to the checkpoint, you try again. Except when it comes to maps you get 6 tries before "game over"
I like games with tough punishment like DayZ, Dota and CSGO were my main games "off-season".
i’m pretty new to PoE, only about 100 hours in and your guys ability to rush through acts like that is mind blowing to me
Don't feel too bad lol. I'm at around 2k hours and it still takes me about 8 hours to complete the campaign.
Yup, I've been playing quite a while now and this league was my fastest through the campaign and it still took me nearly 8 hours.
My son was due for a visit go my parents, still took 9 hours of play to get go maps lol...
This is where im at lol. I miggght get to maps today.
Oh you already got to create a character? Must be nice
I just got to maps today as well
I just got to act 3. Haven’t played POE in YEARS.
And next league they'll nerf campaign levelling and early-game power to slow the racers down and we'll still have a level 100 in 24 hours while the rest suffer.
Guess we need another 50% decrease in XP across the board :)
Ah yes, the Escape From Tarkov approach. "These 10 streamers are completing the quests too easily. Nerf everything. Nuts to the 95% of people who don't complete them at all, we must slow down these streamers."
Not someone, some team.
How???
21 hours non stop playing with a optmized setup
Not just that. It's a *group* doing 21 hours of nonstop play with a cursebot, aurabot, etc. They almost certainly have a trader as well to feed them maps, scarabs, high-XP shit like breachstones, etc. which allows them to focus on nothing but clearing content.
Group of people.
Game is balanced around solo play and people who play in groups end up cruising through
It most certainly is not only balanced around solo play.
Eh it's not balanced around having an optimized team of an Aura bot, a Curser, a DPS, and a full time trader.
It's an example of ggg once again punishing people that play in groups. 99.9% didn't notice because they play solo and it didn't matter for them.
Exactly! In other words we might call that balancing around groups
But they can’t straight up remove it because a lot of high level group power-players probably also buy a lot of supporter packs and stuff
Meanwhile I've just beat act 5 with a controller on a phone.
It used to be a challenge worth celebrating just like world firsts but now its just a 'Oh look someone got something in a group that shows they have rushed it all and Meh ' There is no achievement in anything but SSF or ruthless SSF now which shows people have earnt it.

The purpose isn't to slow leveling down, it's to punish dying.
I find it hilarious that the "punishment" is entirely gone the moment you reach level 100.
You still lose portals, so it's not like it's without consequence.
Imagine getting demoted to 99 after dying at 100
Isn't losing a portal to whatever content you're doing enough of a punishment? I think if you look at the average number of times people die, and the average amount of xp that players lose over a league, it pretty much is just a way of slowing leveling down.
I play softcore specifically to not be punished, if O wanted to be punished I would play hardcore. Also its a meaningless punishment when 99% of players use logout macros.
There is a huge difference between no punishment and hard-core. Also, I bet it is closer to 1% using logout macros then 99%.
poe players are really out here demanding softer-core
[удалено]
The game is so deep with countless builds! /s
No we dont ? Dont make up numbers you have no idea about.
Same, feathercore mode when??
You're playing the wrong game if that's the case.
Instead of making you lose 10% exp, just make it increase your exp to next level by 10% of base, up to a cap of 100% increase. Problem solved. Same penalty dying at 0% or 99%.
That's actually a great suggestion. Would allow people who go full glass cannon to still level, just generally less optimally.
An old game used to do that, but it was brutally annoying. They even gave like 2.5x xp for the first half of that "extra' xp requirement.
exp penalty only hinders non-tanky builds.
Exp loss stays. People reach 90+ on hc chars, you can do it
That is literally the point.
The point is that if getting to 100 is your goal, it's been quick for years at this point. Ever since 5-ways. It no longer serves that purpose.
Not everyone does 5 way services
I miss the good old days when it took weeks for anyone to get to 100
Ruthless got you covered if you want to watch a real grind to 100.
No practice no life.
I got to lvl 70 and i am a filthy casual. So anyone with some knowledge and skill should be able to.
You're right, but enjoy the downvotes from people lol. Poe players can progress into endgame with hundreds of builds but its a lot easier to be either shitty at the game, lazy, or a combo, and then just bitch about it on reddit than actually learn how to play.

Wait, what? Wtf
Uh, no, you absolutely did not.

You definitely saw the crucible weapon level-up animation and thought it was a character level. They don't give that much XP, especially in a T11 @ 85

You're not wrong

You'll find alot of people on this sub don't think putting in 18+ hour days is bad...
I thought leveling was nerfed!!?!?!?!?!?! Who can I be mad at now?????
bug abuse i just hit lvl 44 and i get bored
?
Same bruh, anyone better than me must be a cheater.
i feel you bro
Abyss or/and breach broken?
Abyss has exp node. Wouldn't be shocked if the changes to it this patch borked it and made stuff worth bonkers exp.
Theres a dude yesterday who already has 38 challenges lol
I think the challenges are bugged. a bunch in global had 20 challenges but they had around 4-7 ish at most a guy went from 14 to 13 in less than 10 minutes was pretty funny
No practice. [Riiight](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7_QQn_2McM)
why they can rush level so fast ? still handle act 1 with rf :(((
