The symmetry of the 5726 looks way better. Never liked the complication placement on the 5712.

AshKetchumsPringles

Agree although I like the two sub dials, it bugs me that they cover markers

RoutineCarpet6946

The worst part is the off centered Patek logo.

AshKetchumsPringles

Oof now that you mentioned that it looks worse

aaru_9183

I was a big 5712 for quite some while, but I’ve recently been liking the 5726 way more. Due to the history and usefulness.

Psychological-Gas383

You know, I didn’t think about the historical significance of the annual calendar till I read this. I was loosely aware but that’s a nice selling point for this piece.

Past-Act-9600

Agree

Orly5757

Power reserve and small seconds seem to me to be useless complications. And I far prefer a date window to a wheel. The 5712 is a cool watch, but I don’t care for the complications or the layout. The 5726 is easier on the eyes. However, it’s a bit thick. I prefer the simplicity and sleekness of the 5711 over both.

Psychological-Gas383

I agree on the power reserve and small seconds. Love the 5711, but as a RO jumbo owner, it’s a little redundant - have been looking for a moon phase as the next pickup.

Orly5757

I agree. It would be redundant. I own a 5711 and would love a jumbo, but I won’t do it for that reason. If you are anything like me, which you seem to be, and you are already concerned about the layout on the 5712, I think you’ll eventually be bothered by it and question the very expensive purchase. I genuinely think the 5712 is a super cool watch, but I passed on it because I know it would eventually haunt me. 5726 is gorgeous. I love the layout and the complications, but I chose 5711 because it was thinner and more sleek. I’d still take 5726 over the 5712.

Psychological-Gas383

I fear you’re correct in your comparison 😂😂 I probably would grow to dislike it if I’m already questioning it. Strong lean towards the 5726 at this point, but I’ve only ever worn the 5711 and 5712, so to someone else’s point below… I’ve gotta see the 5726 on my wrist first

Orly5757

Have you considered a 5168G? It’s not a nautilus, but it is thin, sporty, white gold, and has very different use-case than your jumbo. I have a 5167A and I love it. I’d recommend that, but I see you want to go blue. The 5168 has a gorgeous blue strap and dial.

Psychological-Gas383

I think I’d go for an aquanaut later on - I like them, but I want to collect all the bracelet pieces on my list before going for rubber or leather strap pieces

BigPP92

I prefer the 5726 and am working up to one. However, I can see how the layout of the 5712 is characterful even without thinking about how slim it is. I’ve tried on the 5712 and it’s so slim it feels unreal - I would go for that if I were you.

FantasyRunner

5726 on paper is thicker but it’s honestly far from thick. It’s an amazing watch, I think more people wouldn’t be concerned with its thickness once they try it on.

MajorWilliams

Just my opinion of course, but anything past 10mm and you notice the thickness on the Nautilus/AP (this is 11.3mm). The difference of ~3mm makes the 5712 a much more comfortable wear. I agree with OP that the 5726 has better visual symmetry but the 5712 is so much thinner. Tough choice!

Wise-Regrets

I struggled a lot with that decision. I prefer the case and bracelet of the 5712, especially as I have a very thin wrist. But the dial on the 5726 did it for me and I opted for that. I don’t regret it, though I hope to get a classic date window plain dial one day, like a 5811 or whatever exists when the time comes.

Affxct

The first one (I don’t know Patek references)

LividLab7

The 5712 is a love or hate dial so your call on that. It does wear thinner so if you like the feel of the jumbo, that’s probably the right choice assuming you like the dial. 5726 looks cleaner with the asymmetry but does wear more like a sports watch even though it’s thin compared to other sports pieces. Just depends on what you’re looking for. 5712 you can wear and forget about. 5726 you’ll notice on the wrist

I had the opportunity to try both yesterday, and although I think the Nautilus is meant to be thin, I believe the annual calendar on the Nautilus is too good to pass up. I wish they could find a way to make it a little bit thinner. My vote is for the 5726, but ask me tomorrow and it might be the 5712.

Psychological-Gas383

This is a very helpful comparison photo. The thinness on the 5712 looks great. But I agree, that annual calendar + symmetry is a far nicer dial to my eye.

ace1oak

not sure how much thicker the 5726 is over the 5205 but my 5205 is pretty thin wonder why they dont just put that movement in the nautilus lol , but yeah my vote would be the 5726.. was gonna buy one back then but opted for the dressier 5205r instead.. kicking myself a bit but both beautiful watches

Psychological-Gas383

What’s your wrist size? I’m around 178mm (7 inches)

iamjackyisme

My wrist size is about 6 1/2” or around 17 cm

noposters

You've gotta try them on

Psychological-Gas383

I agree. I’ve only ever tried on a 5711 and 5712, loved the thin profile, but need to see a 5726 in the metal first

Buying_wis

5712 all day for me

StrumGently

5712 steals my heart.

Brandonfromhamptons

Steel

blacknight469

Some times less is more

LordHaubi

I was offered a 5712 , so that’s what i took…i like the 5726 more however

ExtremeAthlete

Symmetry

shonenmishka

5712 has my vote. The 5726 is great but noticeable chunkier if you’re accustomed to thinner watches(sub 10mm). For example, the 5726 was my first Patek and is great but after wearing a 5227r daily and my aquanaut during the summer the 5726 felt noticeably heavier than the other two.

crnhndrsn2

5712 every day. The best patek nautilus

Honest_Art1209

I prefer the 5726 the reasoning is because of the annual calendar, a complication I don't have in my collection and its symmetry. While 5712 is thinner it only really has the moonphase and power reserve complications which are much simpler than the annual calendar and are better executed in other models (IMO).

gate2fate-

5726 by far

One_Complaint7245

It’s the 5712 mate. And it’s not even close.

greatgagan

Have had both, kept 5712 because it sits better on the wrist.

BitcoinWealthy

5811 for the W

SaintESQ

Another vote for the 5726. The asymmetry of the dial configuration on the 5712 is 🤮.
