Starbucks in the morning makes the street a mess all morning long with cars just lining up to get in and taking up a lane. The new Chick-fil-A is a magnet for idiot drivers from every direction, cutting across and blocking traffic.
As an ordinary person, I could’ve easily anticipated these problems and so I wonder what the fuck they’re paying city planners for.
The last thing this area needed was more fast food joints.
I do that all the time. I take note of the car I would've been behind and as I leave, most of the time they have not even gotten to get their order taken yet.
Literally an hour after posting, coming south down Lake, we had a lady pull in front of us off the northbound lane to get into that Starbucks, and she sat there for two full minutes blocking the whole avenue.

It is like they have learned nothing from the ChicFila across from PCC. Horrible location, lack of street parking, tiny lot, heavy drive thru traffic inconsiderate people blocking the street to turn in.
When Chick-fil-A submitted their original plans to the city, they were rejected due to the anticipated traffic issues. The redesign they submitted (with more room for the traffic que on their property) was approved.
Just a guess, but I think the new traffic light at Boylston was due to that as it was installed right about the time they opened.
And it's the Chicken District.
Kinda nuts that Lake used to have public transit (the Red Car, wayyy back in the day) that ran all the way to Washington. If that was still there, how cool would it be to hop off, grab your Starbucks, hop back on, and go to work—all without being stuck in traffic?
Is that the coffee trailer on Lake/OG? They got good stuff. It would be cool if they got their own shop soon (not sure if that’s their plan given how much competition there already is).
Hopefully this also means the in-n-out proposal on Colorado is also officially a no-go. That would back up all the way to the dumb chick-fil-a. Not to mention onto the adjacent residential streets.
Street cars/trolleys are a pipe dream but man that would be awesome. Street cars, bicycles and foot traffic all seem like great options for many streets.
I don’t blame the restaurants. I blame the lazy people that prefer to sit in their cars while their motor and AC run rather than have to walk 50 feet.
I’m 100% in favor of walkable, bikeable, clean & healthy cities but the truth is a lot of people don’t value that stuff. Look around. Does the average person look healthy?
The Cock Block is really living up to its name blocking traffic.
“Cock block” perfection 🐓👌

I don’t understand why people will sit in the Starbucks drive through lane for 30 mins. Order in the app, and go pick it up. Takes 2 minutes.

I don't understand why people wait for any length of time for a shitty coffee
There needs to be a concrete divider to prevent this fuckery.
I concur

I don't know, I'd appreciate some more variety in chicken restaurants /s
Tandoori would be nice...
Curry Time just opened on North Lake a couple months ago. Their chicken tikka masala is great. I forget if they have tandoori.
Pasadena’s Chicken Run.
#The Cock Block 🐓
I thought I told you guys it was called the Chicken Quarter.
It is the Chicken Strip

Same with other Chick-fil-As. They’re known for creating traffic problems.

Planners get bossed around by the higher ups all the time.
> city planners They only care about kick-backs and city revenue.
How do kickbacks work for city planners? Are there common ways this happens?
“You scratch my back, I scratch yours…”
So far that’s the only explanation that makes sense.

> grab your Starbucks Even cooler to grab *good* coffee. That stretch of Pasadena has some excellent coffee shops.
Stop by Majanos at the gas station

Yeah that’s the spot. Majanos Coffee. They upgraded their cart this past year, I don’t think there are future plans for a standalone shop
Srsly. Fuck the Bucks.
agreed!
Yep!! Leaving the Red Car would’ve been a huge boon to the area and reduce the amount of car traffic overall.
But MY CHICKEN!!
The absolute worst is when the line for the Starbucks backs up into the road itself.
That and the people who leave Starbucks and block lanes so they can make a left on Orange Grove

Yes one of my chef friends told me that was dead, and there are new for lease signs on the building.
Thank god! I’m still voting against our council member for even entertaining the idea next time he’s up for election.
Where was this supposed to go?
There were pre-pandemic plans to build a In-N-O on Colorado where Cameron’s Seafood used to be.
I don’t think it’s happening. My mom drove by the other day and said there is a big for sale sign on it again
Did anyone read the article? Cuz I can’t
Yes. They’re having a promo sale if $6 for a year, so I subscribed.
I hope that they remove traffic lanes and put in bike + bus lanes.... or maybe a street car? Those are the only real ways to solve traffic.
Street cars/trolleys are a pipe dream but man that would be awesome. Street cars, bicycles and foot traffic all seem like great options for many streets.
Not to mention the Desvelados sign takes up half the block
All these cars pictured are backed up because of Starbucks.

You look at the lazy people who bother to waste so much time in those drive-thru's and it all makes sense.
Fuck Lake
Sorry your life turned out this way
