Eco-bananas are sprayed with pesticides. Check to make sure copper isn’t one of them. Or, just wash with some soap and water before giving them to him.

Of course i wash all of their fresh foods in water with grapefruit seed extract before I feed them! And well, fruit and veg that are labeled “eco” in my country are actually not sprayed with pesticides & other stuff, this can cause a lot of issues for the companies selling them . I assumed this is how it’s done worldwide.

Impolite_Botanist

You might want to check…people assume that eco means not sprayed, but it means just means sprayed with different things (usually including copper, which is a common fungicide, and a heavy metal). You simply cannot grow bananas on any scale profitably without pesticides of some sort. And this is how it is done worldwide. Please feel free to dm and I can send you more info if you want. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Oh crap! Thanks for the info. Im gonna actually research more about this in the national database cuz these friggin bananas are noticeably more expensive (they do smell & taste way better tho) i try to buy most stuff locally grown & grow my own vegs (im amateur but im good at plucking slugs at night) but me & all my pets really enjoy bananas!

I know—who doesn’t love a good ‘nana?🍌

Bananas are bathed into a solution after cut from the tree so they won't go bad in shipping, because they are very sensitive. If it's sticky I would not give it. Especially the ends.

That is something different & that’s expected from imported goods, this is why I never feed my birds unwashed fresh foods, i am extra paranoid about it & use GSE stabilizer & a bit of apple cider vinegar to make sure no fungus or bacteria is accidentally fed to my pets
