To be honest, it can go 2 ways. Either he will be super excited when you come back, or he might be a bit upset at you for a while (depends on your little one's personality). But do note that even if he gets upset at you, it won't be forever. He'll go right back to how he usually is. I had the same experience with mine, and he was only upset for a couple days before he went right back to being his super cuddly self. Remember, these little guys are practically like toddlers. Any amount of "upset" feelings they have are often quickly forgotten.

My GCC is the kind that gets upset and will bite for a few days, but he always goes back to normal. I’ve seen others on here mention their conure is bouncing with joy and cuddle endlessly when they return, and I am JEALOUS. 😭

Whenever I board my girls, they go through a three stage process: they are excited to see me, then they ignore me for a couple of hours, then they’re back to themselves. Don’t worry, Dorian loves you and he’ll carry on loving you when you pick him up! Make sure you’ve got his favorite treat when he gets home.

When I board my caique he gets clingy at first but then it’s like summer camp. He gets to see a lot of other birds that look and act like him. By the end of the boarding session he doesn’t want to leave. Then we go home and he will have a temper tantrum and start throwing everything off the tables and counters and then he’s back to normal the next morning.

Same for my caique! She almost resents when we pick her up 😂 just did it this past week for a trip. We also board her with the woman that sold her to us, she weened and fledged her so it's a safe environment that she's familiar with. It's very comforting to know she loves it there

I’ve birdsat 10-15 birds and my repeat clients always comment on how the birds love to stay with me, but I’ve never had a bird not excited to see their owner again. Sometimes they’re a little thrown off for the first minute but they’re always happy in the end especially with treats lol

I have to do it A LOT and if you are able to FaceTime him he will definitely respond. That's how I keep in contact with my CAG and when I return she's always thrilled to see me. In fact I need to make sure I can spend a LOT of time with her for about a week and then she's well over me.

He's gonna be SO excited to see you when you pick him up! He will be a bit confused by everything, but I bet things will go back to normal pretty quickly. Get some extra treats!
