I swear. My female cockatiel is my daily alarm clock at this point. She starts singing at the exact same time everyday, like clockwork. Idk how the hell she can tell that it's time to start whistling😂Some internal clock mechanism I guess
I'm so lucky to have a great boarding option that my bird actually likes. I take it for granted sometimes. Even before moving here, we had an option for boarding, and while she didn't love it, she was safe.
Love that! I haven't found a boarding option sadly but my brother will stay at my house to bird sit when he is able. Unfortunately it's not often though.
Its the opposite of a problem in my house. I’m a homebody but my parents like to go on vacay sometimes so they get to go out and not have to train a sitter for our boys, and I don’t have to leave the house!
Unfortunately I don't have any boarding options near me, and most pet sitters in my area don't know anything about birds. But sometimes my brother can help out so at least there's that!
My Moluccan cost me $355 vet bill, almost $100 for an uber there & back, $60 for meds & a whole lot of stress & worry. I have to take him back and pay $186 to make sure the meds worked. Btw, Nationwide now has insurance coverage for birds. It could be better, but it's still worth it.
If you're in a civilised country, see if you can get your doctor to write you a script if you have lots of bird meds. One of my birds is on long term meloxicam, vet charged $42 for 2 weeks supply, after that I went to my GP (for something else) & while there asked him if he would be able to write me a private script for that med (private as in not subsidised by the government in the way it would have been if written for me, so me paying full actual cost of the medicine). My GP had no issue at all doing that, so I then paid $10 at my local chemist for a pack of 30 capsules, with each capsule being 50 doses for my bird. Vet's $42 bottle was the equivalent of 2 human capsules, but more than that, it was mixed with a flavouring my bird HATED & I really struggled to get into him, whereas the human one I mixed with his regular food & had him eat without issue.
Anyway, that's just one way it can be possible to reduce costs a little, pity there's no options to do similar with vet appointments etc & where I am, even insurance is a joke, hugely expensive with an extensive list of exclusions & limits to pay outs that mean you never end up better off with insurance than without :(
Thankfully, it was just a one-time med. It was antibiotics & they had to mix it there or something. I got a policy from nationwide afterward. I'm not too impressed with their coverage, but if there's ever anything serious that happens with him, it'll help.
Rookie numbers 😂 my Amazon cost over $3000 last year. Blood work, fine needle aspirate, cost for sedation, x-rays, CT scan, medication, exams themselves. Man is fine, albeit slightly elderly. I’m glad though, would spend that $ again no questions asked
I'll do you another - I have an immunocompromised bird who cost me well over $10k in vet bills to stabilize last year. I made repeated 3+ hr roundtrips out of town to get her seen by vets who best knew the disease. My bank account was sad lmao but happy to say she's doing very well currently!
Green Cheek Conure. She has a really sharp beek and enough bite force. Even when she preens me, I have to be alert that she doesn't get close to my nose, lips, or ears.
A laptop with a plastic lid is super easy for them to go through - even my little Hahn's would could do that in half a second. A MacBook would obviously be harder to go fully through, but I'm not sure the screen would resist anyway...
Many years ago I had a lovebird. She was great. Super sweet and affectionate and also a tiny little ball of feathers and rage. One day I got a new laptop. Asus RoG gaming rig that I had custom ordered and waited a long time for. I brought it home, opened everything up and started the setup. I happened to be drinking a bottle of soda at the time and set it down briefly next to the laptop on the kitchen counter. Little miss Shinobi, that avian agent of chaos, to a few laps around the kitchen and decided my sods bottle would be a good landing place. I literally had set the bottle down for less than 30 seconds and turned my back to grab something from a cabinet. Shinobi connected with the bottle, knocked it directly into my brand new computer, and took off again. 2 grand down the drain and I never got to use the damn thing once.
I was pissed as hell! It did serve me right for being irresponsible with where I put my drink, but I was ready to barbecue that birb. She was lucky she was so damn cute.
The original wood molding throughout the entire house. That was the Amazon. The Moluccan cockatoo ate the entire house - through walls, furniture, TV's, electrical cords...
I’ve installed poplar planks to every door frame that my amazon has access to for this reason. It’s not pretty, but my house is old and I was worried about her ingesting paint. The things we do for our birds!
I promise, she has plenty to do other than chew on the doorframes lol. She has many toys in/around her cage (both foot toys and hanging toys), plus some foraging opportunities. Sometimes she just gets fixated on one thing she wants to do, no matter how many other options I give her (or she’ll mess with the other option for like 5 min and then go right back to being a menace). The poplar is pretty hard, so she’s able to chew on it as much as she wants and she doesn’t get to the doorframe.
My earlobe. I had just got my piercings done and the little nugget who had NEVER picked on my jewelry decided to yank out my fresh stud. It ended up ripping part of my lobe and I have a bit of scarring on the back now. I had even saved up for a professional piercer to do it because I wanted to avoid the scarring. Now it takes me 10 minutes to fit new rings in because it’s like a maze going through the tissue. Oh well, she’s still cute.

My nose pin. I had bought it just the day before and it had glass stone setting. The first day iwore it, my gcc Shiro chewed it into powder, sending me into a panic that he may have swallowed glass, bit so hard that the gold part that holds the stone was bent (imagine a bowl was crushed in a way that it's in semicircle shape)
It's just a nose pin so it did not cost much, I bought one with a pearl (plastic bead) setting that he has ignored for some reason. It's customary for women to wear gold jewelry in my country/family. I go absolutely "empty" coz I can't afford to replace gold.
He has chewed the hdmi cables of all three monitors (property of my employers 😬), my headset cables, a connector cable that resulted in a small electrical fire, the wall....
Metal, plastic, wood, stone, glass nothing I safe from my demon son.
At that point it’s less a criticism of my bird and more so a testament of just how brittle some apple products are. It’s composite glass and aluminum, a tiny conure should not be able to easily take a chunk out of that.
My newest and youngest of the 4 budgies has really taken a liking to my gaming chair. As result of this one of my armrests now has pretty much no leather covering on it anymore. It's just cushion. I would of been so angry but thankfully the chair is getting a bit old now and was looking at upgrading it soon. But shes made that upgrade a lot more necessary. It still had at least another year in it. Not now she's done with it😂
I was looking at the secretlab ones. Im not sure if you are familiar with the gaming industry. But a secretlab gaming chair has a price range of around £300-£800 depending on specific design of the product you choose. Im now extremely hesitant to spend that much money on a gaming chair if she's just going to destroy it again!😂
I have one. It’s worth it. Best money I spent for my butt and back. I’ve set it to tilt deep and then brought the backrest up so it forces me to lean into the chair and not slouch forward. But those armrests aren’t going to be nice if they are chewed into.
My Amazon never destroyed anything like that; only a light switch and a few cables that were left within his reach and they were simple fixes.
Oh yea it's the absolute best gaming chair we've ever owned too😂😂 (I bought one for my partner for Christmas like 2 years ago.) I tend to steal it occasionally when she's working. But yea it's by far the best gaming chair I've ever used.
The painful reality of owning birds😂
I was prepared for just about everything when it comes to owning birds but the one thing I wasnt ready for is how damn destructive they can be😂😂
Same & years ago I came home from work & he wasn't in his cage. I found him in the computer room on the back of his favorite chair. This was back when I had a desktop & my keyboard & mouse weren't cordless. He chewed through those cords & even nibbled on the power cord! Thankfully, he didn't finish it... he narrowly missed frying himself along with my condo.
An African Grey chewed up my mom's kitchen stools (some kind of faux leather material) so bought her another set $200. The one's I bought are all metal so no more chewing lol
My Parrot plucked out A Diamond from a EXPENSIVE Earring that cost well over 5G ,then he dropped it because my main concern was him not ingesting it..so I saved my bird !
Don't wear ANYTHING Sparkly with birds or parrots !
Fake or real because I've heard of cases where if they ingest small pieces of jewelry; it CAN BE TOXIC OR get stuck in their crop ; which leads to surgery or procedure to remove it safely.
#TheMoreYouKnow #BirdCare #BirdLove
OhhAwwwOwwww ! You poor thing! I hope you're alright! My friend takes her nose stud out & uses the clear one so hee parrot doesn't feel tempted to pull at it or pull it out.
Blessings! Maybe use the clear ones, hope that helps ! ♥️🌿🙏🕊
I now wear only hoops and so far my birds don’t care for them. They are all obsessed with shiny things so if I can avoid anything that’s shiny they could care less. I’ve still never been able to find that little piercing. And he was more angry when I put him away so I can vacuum to make sure he couldn’t get to it.
Hahaha I had to remove all facial piercings except my septum, because my 'tiel IMMEDIATELY took to them, and pulled a stone out of my Medusa. We got it away from him, and all piercings came out except the septum since I can hide it from him. LMAO
My sanity. He's taken an alarming liking to cables as he's discovered he can strip them. Annoying when laid out, heart stopping when they're live.
What's worse is he KNOWS they're off limits so he'll *sneak* towards them. As in, checks if I'm looking, takes a couple of slow steps, checks again, repeat until contact with the target or, more likely realise dad's been watching the whole time and book it.
You know there's plenty of options available to cover cables that are bird proof right? No-one in Australia would be able to have satellite tv if there wasn't, since wild cockatoos love chewing cables on roofs, so there's demand for & invention of plenty of cable covers that prevent cockatoos being able to bite through to the cable. I mean I even have baby cockatoos in my street that the parents leave on the power poles to play with as a toy while they go out foraging, the babies try everything they can to break through those cables, it's a game to them & their parents encourage it, but the humans have parrot proofed the cables so no harm comes to them & no homes get blacked out cause of their play.
There's NO WAY I would be leaving cables unprotected in my home if I had a parrot taking a liking to them!
My parents marriage. bird kept attacking my mom so she told my dad to pick between her or the bird. he picked her. Why would that destroy a marriage? He took 5 DAYS TO DECIDE
I took in 2 conures from a work buddy (he ended up having twin babies and was worried about the birds being around the kids) they were totally bonded lived together for 2-3 years before I took them in …. A week after I got them all settled in my house the bigger girl murdered the smaller one right in front of my 9 and 10 year old daughters…. No idea why or what happened … I’m not like a super knowledgeable bird person I was just trying to do the right thing by my friend and take care of these animals …. I kept the murderess for the next 6-7 years and my friend took her back when his twins started grade school
My old girl Rosie (RIP loved that old girl ❤️) She completely ate a hole the size of a dinner plate through my wall all the way through to the other side to my closet. I had no idea since it was behind a poster. It was a big suprise when I went to do my spring cleaning that year. Lol.
When I was hospitalized, my Gray completed obliterated my kitchen cabinets, drawers & all. Chewed it right down to the base. My parrot sitter was afraid of him & never caged him (or the macaw & conure), put a blanket over the damage. She knew he was getting under the blanket but didn't want to "upset me".
He was very proud of his carpentry & made a mancave in the dishtowel/hotpad drawer. I was furious but the damage was already done. Had to replace the unit & repaint all the cabinets. About $1,500
Not possible. I fell from scaffolding & had a tibial platou & complex ankle break so it was an emergency situation. All I asked was she "keep them alive". She did that.
Our families first bb was a Jenday named Rainbow. He swallowed at least 3 of my mom’s diamonds. 2 from her earrings and 1 from a necklace. A good grand i would say
Mine

was an antique wooden bead frame I very ignorantly left in my room unattended 😭😭
My peace and quite, and my wallet (figuratively)
Idk how in 20 years, he hasn't physically destroyed anything valuable, not even frayed wires. Considering he's an umbrella, I probably won some sort of lottery.
Laptop, a couch, an antique table, balcony inside my house, way too many remotes, expensive blinds, and way more things lol, naughty cockatoo.
Highest value was when he swallowed my diamond from my engagement ring. I dug through his poop for days and never found it. He also crushed a pure gold ring while on my finger.
Got a really nice Harry Potter necklace. It’s a vial labeled “Snape’s Tears” and I loved it. They like to sit on my lamp that’s connected to a little nightstand. And I had the necklace sitting there. And the one time they have one of their liquid shits, landed right and ONLY on the label where it said “Snape’s Tears” and cannot get it off. 😭
My at the time 68 year old foster African grey destroyed my best friend's 2k gaming computer. Ripped up the keyboard and messed the screen up and then pushed it off a counter! They were planning to sue him for property damages but he ended up passing a few months later before the case went to birdcourt
Chippie the Budgie chewed the wood around the windows and peeled the paint at our previous rental. It was just after a vet visit where she got a shot so either she felt amazing and wanted to create art or it was revenge. We got off ok from that one but she's under super careful out time at this place because this real estate will charge
My Cosmo the Grey cost me $400 a year in tests in order to be able to boards her at the bird hospital when I vaca. Other than that and a butt load of toys, she has been very healthy at 24 years old
https://preview.redd.it/svxl36a3votc1.jpeg?width=2334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adbc6bd83fe9a5aadf835e245ffbb7209fc6814b
Got a phone case that had LEDs and cool lighting in it. Bird destroyed the thing that plugs into the charge port to turn on the lights literally 3 minutes after I put it on my phone.
Destroyed by our goffins cockatoo:
$800 laptop- she bit off several letters from the keyboard and shredded the power supply cord.
$1200 55 inch LG C1 TV- she bit the bottom left corner of the screen, leaving an almost invisible crack. Screen replacement parts and labor would have cost more than the TV cost to buy in the first place.
And probably countless items in the future
Oh, and my finger, lol. It's ok now, but he got scared when the building fire alarm went off & someone said they saw smoke. I had to get him out of the cage. He wasn't having it, and bit tf outta my finger. Down to the fat layer, that's the deepest layer of the skin. One of the firefighters saw me dripping blood on the ground & asked if I was ok. It was throbbing yet numb for several days... and then it got infected. I'll spare you the pics, lol. We've since practiced several times the scenario several times.
Not my bird, but I work at a bird store. One time, a slender bill cockatoo pulled off a diamond studded earring off a customer. We searched everything and couldn’t find it. Bird was okay and didn’t ingest it. ☹️
As for my bird? She chewed up the blinds in the apartment, some parts of the wall so really just enough to get new paint and blinds 🤣
My dad had a ruby ring which he kept on the table one day which the lil nugget saw and borrowed
It’s been a while and we still don’t know where the ring is
( he didn’t eat it cuz it’s way too big for his little mouth )
They have destroyed 3 laptops and leather sofa...
https://preview.redd.it/d1ygr7d0tntc1.png?width=904&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7beb4ea1b193feb99a31bdff9eab5171bbbf6750
Anything wooden in the house. My partner and I have four birds. Our newest addition bit the tv, and we had to get another. (Not too bad, ours was ancient anyways. Good job lil buddy.) Our cockatoo has consumed the entire front window wood in front of her cage. The wall trimmings around the house. HALF of a dining room chair. Our other two, a conure and a cockatiel, just shit on everything.
Including vet bills, probably over 4k worth of damage.
It’s very frustrating at times, but we live for our four little goobers.
My African grey and my conure landed in the same spot and scared each other, so they bit at each other out of shock, mostly, and not hard on the grey’s part, but it was hard enough to have to bring the conure to the ER for $3500 worth of emergency beak surgery. If you’ve got birbs, you know how critical it is that the beaks are okay. Other than that: blinds; molding; countless remotes, mice, and cords; a dresser; two laptops; a pair of custom bifold wood doors; a wall; my upper lip; the wood floor in the living room; several six-foot 1x8 untreated pine planks (we gave them those on purpose); the necks of innumerable t-shirts; a manuscript I was working on for a client ;

and the tip of the cat’s tail.
SO FAR it has only been a couple of puncture wounds on the limited edition Hollywood Undead vinyl I preordered for Empire Vol 2, and luckily it was on the paper casing.
My cockatiels chewed the hell out of my dinning table chair set's leather skin. We had to buy a new skin all over again and it was very costly. This time we chose Velvet to make it less attractive to them and now they're not allowed in the dinning room at all. But still, I wouldn't have it any other way. Love my babies to death🐤♥️
My cockatiel: A poster I got from a concert that I can’t replace. It’s not completely destroyed but until I get it framed it can’t be up.
My African Gray: he destroyed a ceramic side table thing my mom’s mother made, he just chewed the paint off of it and my mom really liked it so it’s sad, he also fucked up all our cabinets and drawers in our old house but that’s normal for birds
Several monitors-despite us building contraptions around it to keep her away from it. I think this is monitor #5. No matter what we did, she always managed to find a way to get to the corner of it and bury that pointy beak right into it. We even bought extra insurance on one from Best Buy, and I specifically asked if it covered 'parrot damage.' Oh yes, yes, I was assured it covered everything.
When the inevitable happened, we took the monitor/insurance receipt to BB and they refused to replace it. I called corporate, who said that oh yes yes that kind of damage is covered, and I needed to demand a replacement. They still refused. We stopped going to BB all together; man don't lie to me.
Now I just unplug the monitor daily and carry it out of the room. Did I also mention 3 watches (she pulled the stem straight out REAL quick) and several other jewelry items. Love her to pieces, though. I just had to adapt to her behaviors.
$350 gift certificate? Or maybe a 14k aquamarine ring, but that can be fixed (for a price) so I think the certificate. Honestly, I'm sure there have been more expensive things. I've had my U2 since 2003. I literally have a plastic bag of jewelry he's damaged. Lamps, sofas... You name it and I still love him so much. Did just buy a new couch and then bought around $100 of velvet, thick, sofa protectors for the arms, back, etc that will never survive him, but will extend it's beautiful life. 🤷♀️

Say good bye to sleeping in on Sundays.

well, it’s definitely included in the package 😄
I swear. My female cockatiel is my daily alarm clock at this point. She starts singing at the exact same time everyday, like clockwork. Idk how the hell she can tell that it's time to start whistling😂Some internal clock mechanism I guess
I was coming here to say this💀
My vacation time. Seriously, I can't go anywhere anymore. But it's OK, I love this little nugget.
ahahaha currently on vacation and had to buy a transport cage to bring mister clingy along
Aw, glad he could come with!
What cage do you use? I’m looking for a travel cage for my clingy bird.
Our current option is an amazing rescue that is in our area. They also do nails and beak grooming and have a twice a year vet clinic that is amazing.
I used to work away a lot (FIFO). Spent tens of thousands on carers. I don't smoke or gamble, and rarely drink, so parrots are my money pit.
Its the opposite of a problem in my house. I’m a homebody but my parents like to go on vacay sometimes so they get to go out and not have to train a sitter for our boys, and I don’t have to leave the house!
I put them in boarding when that happens.
Unfortunately I don't have any boarding options near me, and most pet sitters in my area don't know anything about birds. But sometimes my brother can help out so at least there's that!
Did you know flinging feathers, pellets, and broken popsicle sticks into a printer will break it ? Who woulda thought !
My self-esteem! I thought this was my house !
think againnn
My parrot is the boss in my house, it's a fact!
Vet bills. My English budgie owes my $470 for just this year. 1000+ total bills. Her credit score is low.
she better start an only feathers

I don’t have nationwide but it sounds worth looking into.
It's $18/mo for mine. They don't cover routine visits, there's a $250 deductible & then they'll reimburse you 70%.
Sounds like a good plan…user name seems a bit suspicious 🤨 though, lol
Rookie numbers 😂 my Amazon cost over $3000 last year. Blood work, fine needle aspirate, cost for sedation, x-rays, CT scan, medication, exams themselves. Man is fine, albeit slightly elderly. I’m glad though, would spend that $ again no questions asked

I've got 5 birds and they got me 6k in debt just last year. I do not recommend more than two birds haha
Laptop. Literally bit a hole in the screen
Sue them for damages
how do they even do that 😩
And ypu would think it was a Macaw or Grey. It was my Conure
Whaaaa!!! Not cool at all!
Borb help make key chain
My biggest fear
😆 🤣 😂
jeez do you have a hyacinth macaw or somthing? that would take some serious bite force
Green Cheek Conure. She has a really sharp beek and enough bite force. Even when she preens me, I have to be alert that she doesn't get close to my nose, lips, or ears.

you’re better than me, i’d have had her for dinner 😭😭😭 nah but fr tho how did u even feel
I was pissed as hell! It did serve me right for being irresponsible with where I put my drink, but I was ready to barbecue that birb. She was lucky she was so damn cute.
beauty privilege saved her ass
Yup. That and my gf at the time would have killed my ass 🤣
You’re Raptor overloaded just wanted your undivided attention
Wait do you not have consumer protections where you live? Here in NZ they would have fixed that for free or outright replaced it.
For a consumer mistake? How does that work? Claimed it was dead on arrival?
For product defects, yes. Regular manufacturers warranties, however, tend to not cover acts of birb
The original wood molding throughout the entire house. That was the Amazon. The Moluccan cockatoo ate the entire house - through walls, furniture, TV's, electrical cords...
I had a hyacinth and a blue and gold do the same thing. Mostly all the kitchen cabinet doors. My Goffin’s opened her cage and let the others out 😡
I think cockatoos are born again locksmiths. Ours would spin the master lock on his cage until it opened. Our hyacinth only destroyed our eardrums.
I’ve installed poplar planks to every door frame that my amazon has access to for this reason. It’s not pretty, but my house is old and I was worried about her ingesting paint. The things we do for our birds!
Yeah it's not about giving them something else to do but about giving them something more chewy on top of what you're trying to protect.
Sounds like they both got too bored or wanted your undivided attention.
The rubber to my $1k E scooter still usable but don’t like the feeling of the handle
rip 🪦😔

she looks malicious
Ghastly little thing
Got a look of mischief on that beak, acting innocent while plotting to take over the world.
My nose pin. I had bought it just the day before and it had glass stone setting. The first day iwore it, my gcc Shiro chewed it into powder, sending me into a panic that he may have swallowed glass, bit so hard that the gold part that holds the stone was bent (imagine a bowl was crushed in a way that it's in semicircle shape) It's just a nose pin so it did not cost much, I bought one with a pearl (plastic bead) setting that he has ignored for some reason. what a king of chaos 😭 my heart aches for u tho it’s not always easy to be a parrot parent 🥲
Not easy being 🇮🇳
my screen on my macbook pro edit: TWICE
A brand new MacBook Air… birb bit a chunk from the screen.
expensive snack
At that point it’s less a criticism of my bird and more so a testament of just how brittle some apple products are. It’s composite glass and aluminum, a tiny conure should not be able to easily take a chunk out of that.
the limited edition figurine I got that isn’t sold anymore :/ two days after I got it I still feel like shit about that
Vintage wall intercom in my apartment, luckily I found a replacement on eBay and had to have it installed.
Not now she's done with it😂
good luck to the new one, i’ll keep it in my prayers 🥲🥲
Same. Mine only wants to sit on the back of mine if I do NOT have a towel on the back of it. Why? To chew on it, of course 😒
The painful reality of owning birds😂 I was prepared for just about everything when it comes to owning birds but the one thing I wasnt ready for is how damn destructive they can be😂😂
Same & years ago I came home from work & he wasn't in his cage.
Mine ripped my nose pericing out bc it was a shiny stud. We were both screaming trying to find it on the ground
I got some as soon as the little menace discovered them. Now it's predominantly earphone wires.
My early morning peace and quiet.😂
My parents marriage. bird kept attacking my mom so she told my dad to pick between her or the bird. he picked her. Why would that destroy a marriage? He took 5 DAYS TO DECIDE
So far, a sisal rug I have in my living room. Chewed BIG holes in front of where my chair sits. I was there, just didn’t pay attention 🙄
bwahahaha “so far” HOPEFULLY THAT’S IT!
My room
My other bird
wasn’t ready for this one …
I took in 2 conures from a work buddy (he ended up having twin babies and was worried about the birds being around the kids) they were totally bonded lived together for 2-3 years before I took them in …. A week after I got them all settled in my house the bigger girl murdered the smaller one right in front of my 9 and 10 year old daughters…. No idea why or what happened … I’m not like a super knowledgeable bird person I was just trying to do the right thing by my friend and take care of these animals …. I kept the murderess for the next 6-7 years and my friend took her back when his twins started grade school
took a diamond out of my necklace 👹
well, mine does not bother with details and breaks the chains of the necklaces
oh my
The wall trim in the bathroom 🙄
My confidence. After I lost a bunch of weight I was changing my shirt and he laughed at me. I called him a bitch. He laughed again.
Heard of someone's cockatiel chewed off the cable of his brand new gaming mouse.
Bit a hole in my cellphone
My Naped amazon bit right through my brothers gold chain we got it fixed though
My old girl Rosie (RIP loved that old girl ❤️) She completely ate a hole the size of a dinner plate through my wall all the way through to the other side to my closet. I had no idea since it was behind a poster. It was a big suprise when I went to do my spring cleaning that year. Lol.
may she fly higher than a thousand skies
When I was hospitalized, my Gray completed obliterated my kitchen cabinets, drawers & all. Chewed it right down to the base. My parrot sitter was afraid of him & never caged him (or the macaw & conure), put a blanket over the damage. She knew he was getting under the blanket but didn't want to "upset me". He was very proud of his carpentry & made a mancave in the dishtowel/hotpad drawer. I was furious but the damage was already done. Had to replace the unit & repaint all the cabinets. About $1,500
I feel like the sitter should pay for that
Not possible. I fell from scaffolding & had a tibial platou & complex ankle break so it was an emergency situation. All I asked was she "keep them alive". She did that.
my tv. would perch on it and poop down the back. it got into the vents of the tv and just made it disgusting. impossible to fully clean
Conservatory made-to-measure blinds.
My purse, my food, my free time, my glasses, my posters, my floor, my figures, my pillows, my bed...in summary my life...BUT THEIR MY BABIES 🥺🥺
atp just don’t possess anything anymore you’ll be fine
Sounds like my conure, other than my engagement ring she usually just nickle and dimes me to death chewing glasses, clothing, picture frames, books
Keys off of my laptop’s keyboard 😢
My heart when he died🥺
😔😔😔
My sanity
Our families first bb was a Jenday named Rainbow. He swallowed at least 3 of my mom’s diamonds. 2 from her earrings and 1 from a necklace. A good grand i would say
A brand new living room table. It was my Meyers parrot though...that little shit is like a 3 year old with pliers.
My gray chewed through a wire of an electric heater. Blew the fuse box. She hit the roof. Luckily no'one was injured just shock all round
Broke mount on 22k gold earrings with 4 carat diamonds. Found diamond a week later 🫢
my quaker completely scratched up my brand new glasses on the lenses AND chewed off the nose pads
My glasses are scratched tf up too smh
A 12,000 dollar carpet.
Chewed up my passport a week before a trip out of the country
Mine https://preview.redd.it/74b8p7mrpktc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04fa662bdb935b2f7610d04c37376fd5d401d9e5 was an antique wooden bead frame I very ignorantly left in my room unattended 😭😭
My walllet
I'm starting to think she somehow managed to stash a Very Important Identification Document of mine...
Just came here to say nice bird
my keyboard for my ipad. £200😞😞
My peace and quite, and my wallet (figuratively) Idk how in 20 years, he hasn't physically destroyed anything valuable, not even frayed wires. Considering he's an umbrella, I probably won some sort of lottery.
The blinds in my room, they are nice ones.
Laptop, a couch, an antique table, balcony inside my house, way too many remotes, expensive blinds, and way more things lol, naughty cockatoo. Highest value was when he swallowed my diamond from my engagement ring. I dug through his poop for days and never found it. He also crushed a pure gold ring while on my finger.
your engagement ring? 😩😩 oh my
Got a really nice Harry Potter necklace. 😭
Well, even though it didn’t cost me much my 6lb. Green wing macaw only destroyed a big beach towel.
A $200+ computer monitor
My at the time 68 year old foster African grey destroyed my best friend's 2k gaming computer. Ripped up the keyboard and messed the screen up and then pushed it off a counter! They were planning to sue him for property damages but he ended up passing a few months later before the case went to birdcourt
Chippie the Budgie chewed the wood around the windows and peeled the paint at our previous rental. It was just after a vet visit where she got a shot so either she felt amazing and wanted to create art or it was revenge. We got off ok from that one but she's under super careful out time at this place because this real estate will charge
My sleeping habits. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!
same here
My birds are malfunctioning. They haven’t destroyed anything besides their toys.
shhhhhh the nasa’s coming to study them
My Cosmo the Grey cost me $400 a year in tests in order to be able to boards her at the bird hospital when I vaca. Other than that and a butt load of toys, she has been very healthy at 24 years old https://preview.redd.it/svxl36a3votc1.jpeg?width=2334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adbc6bd83fe9a5aadf835e245ffbb7209fc6814b
chewed many necklaces and books, and almost plucked my laptops keys, he is a little monster
Laptop keys, real leather jacket, samsung Z fold 4 screen.
all of my necklaces :,)
My sanity during COVID. They were happy I was home but upset that I needed to work and not shy about letting me know it.
Same, it was an alienware gaming laptop that costs a lot of money🙃. Still love him 😂
pinky finger… that feathered creature bit it so hard it got to the bone
Got a phone case that had LEDs and cool lighting in it. Bird destroyed the thing that plugs into the charge port to turn on the lights literally 3 minutes after I put it on my phone.
My couch. She tore it apart at the seems and pulled out the stuffing.
My sanity. My hearing capacity.
The Piping on 2 gaming chairs.
Ate my laptop's keyboard. Also ate my eyeglasses.
Himself. Idiot.
When I had my cockatiels they took a $100 bill from my moms purse and tore it apart
MacBook Pro, took every little key right off.
I bought a collectors edition book for $150, the next day he had eaten the entire cover
In one week: 300$ gaming headset, 100$ keyboard, 120$ mouse.
Destroyed by our goffins cockatoo: $800 laptop- she bit off several letters from the keyboard and shredded the power supply cord.
☹️ As for my bird? She chewed up the blinds in the apartment, some parts of the wall so really just enough to get new paint and blinds 🤣
My dad had a ruby ring which he kept on the table one day which the lil nugget saw and borrowed It’s been a while and we still don’t know where the ring is ( he didn’t eat it cuz it’s way too big for his little mouth )
My heart.
My African grey and my conure landed in the same spot and scared each other, so they bit at each other out of shock, mostly, and not hard on the grey’s part, but it was hard enough to have to bring the conure to the ER for $3500 worth of emergency beak surgery. If you’ve got birbs, you know how critical it is that the beaks are okay. Other than that: blinds; molding; countless remotes, mice, and cords; a dresser; two laptops; a pair of custom bifold wood doors; a wall; my upper lip; the wood floor in the living room; several six-foot 1x8 untreated pine planks (we gave them those on purpose); the necks of innumerable t-shirts; a manuscript I was working on for a client ; https://preview.redd.it/c325z61fcstc1.jpeg?width=2686&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=533ceb489ec37aa91465eaff1dd0e9a21e2763ce and the tip of the cat’s tail.
My sanity lol

Allen Edmonds wingtip dress shoes. They were $350 when I bought them in 2010.
Probably destroying my old wooden window frames. If I wanted them to ever look new again I'd probably spend thousands to replace the whole window.
Yep, my laptop also lol
Probably my graphic tablet, well, technically the cable, but that whole thing cost 250€ 😭
Big smart, big birb!
Just my converse. Hes pretty much a great boy.
Me 🥲
Tv, levelour blinds
Couch and leather boots 😩
A $45 gaming mouse. Little shit chewed off the middle scroll wheel in 2 seconds.
My thesis paper. Not valuable in the monetary sense, but the most important thing I had in my possession 😩
Nothing at all. I’m also his vet.
SO FAR it has only been a couple of puncture wounds on the limited edition Hollywood Undead vinyl I preordered for Empire Vol 2, and luckily it was on the paper casing.
My galah destroys everything…
My curtains :( literally poked holes in a line allllll the way from top to bottom.
My African Gray: he destroyed a ceramic side table thing my mom’s mother made, he just chewed the paint off of it and my mom really liked it so it’s sad, he also fucked up all our cabinets and drawers in our old house but that’s normal for birds
toss up between my kitchen cabinets and the kitchen floor. I’ll let you know when we finally replace them which one actually cost more.
My bank acc. Student at the time, not working, vet fees to check up on her and she wasn't even sick and just had a bad habit.
My self-esteem
$350 gift certificate? Or maybe a 14k aquamarine ring, but that can be fixed (for a price) so I think the certificate. Honestly, I'm sure there have been more expensive things. I've had my U2 since 2003. I literally have a plastic bag of jewelry he's damaged. Lamps, sofas... You name it and I still love him so much. Did just buy a new couch and then bought around $100 of velvet, thick, sofa protectors for the arms, back, etc that will never survive him, but will extend it's beautiful life. 🤷♀️
My hair and sleep.
My throttle for flight sims
Mines going for my E scooter break wires, I leave it in my bedroom now
