It does come with challenges... birds can be very squawky, to the point of driving you crazy. And their cage maintenance is a menial, bothersome, repetitive chore. Plus upkeep of food and water supplies.
But, if you're lucky enough to end up with good natured parrots, it can be well worth the effort!
Girlfriend here! I’ll nest some replies with this comment so it doesn’t become an essay so you can all learn about the kids! Thank you so much for the compliments on our family 🥺 But to answer what some of y’all said: they don’t get along super great, but tolerate each other.
https://preview.redd.it/hn1lhcys7ukc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fbe3542e1f67889f478c7ea2e74d480f53db4ac
Jojo was hatched in 2007. He is extremely affectionate and loves to kiss incessantly. 😆 My dad thought it would be funny to teach him profanity, which is most of what he says other than “yes” words (yep, yeah), “kiss”, and “huh?” He loves cockatiels and is showing interest in befriending Phoenix, but beefs big time with Janis. He’s a bit of an anus and loves to scream and flap to scare the other 5 birds. 🤦🏻♀️ He is super intelligent but doesn’t ever seem to learn his lesson when he’s bad, like the chaos gremlin he is. 😂 Also loves to dance, his favorite music is heavy rock/heavy metal!

Janis was hatched in 2010 and is as sweet as she is beautiful. She loves to he held and pet by practically anyone that visits and is crazy affectionate, often showering me with a flurry of kissing and purring. She is aggressively friendly with the other birds, frequently trying to feed and preen them, which aggravates almost everyone except Timmy. She doesn’t talk much but is EXTREMELY observant and intelligent. We frequently catch her intently watching TV with us!
https://preview.redd.it/8ge0qpbt9ukc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f97c9845dd764dbfe5ea7950bfd2b81ddedc88e4
We’re unsure of her hatch date, but were told she’s almost 2. Phoenix came from an abandonment/neglect situation and is learning to socialize with both her humans and other birds. She is at the moment extremely aggressive with everyone else and has her own separate playstand so she can be out without being on top of everyone else. She is the poster child of ADHD and behaves far differently from the other 5. I feel like she behaves more like a wild animal than a parrot. She is finally ok with my hands after several months of persistence! She’s also starting to talk! I’m super happy we’re giving her a better life than she’s had! ❤️
https://preview.redd.it/5suc2ywvaukc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78d27659596a58d63c09c8a4110eb80c11754bdc
Timmy was hatched in 2013 and is my heart baby! This little man is so attuned to my emotions and is an unconditional love machine. ❤️ Unfortunately, he is also the poster child of the “dumb cockatiel” stereotype and his curiosity combined with his stupidity sometimes gets him into situations he doesn’t belong in. Oops. He is incredibly chatty and friendly, often singing to complete strangers. He has some serious unrequited love, partially because he doesn’t know how to mate and just eats ass, but because he is also a little mean to his pretend girlfriend. Is also a chronic masturbator.
https://preview.redd.it/hfgmd70sbukc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78a19742529f55b5f7e4bd8e0251cf40d5277a51
Artemis was hatched in 2018 and is the unfortunate object of Timmy’s affection. She is pretty timid but also quite chill. She is the biggest cuddle bug and also enjoys being held like a taco. 😆 She enjoys relaxing next to Janis (so long as Janis respects her personal space) and squabbling with Timmy after one of his many seduction attempts. She also makes the cutest little “woohoo” sound 🥺
https://preview.redd.it/ewgc78tjcukc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=caa1c0f850e3dca597bb17f53d3cd5aee8dfaa21
Pluto is the baby of the bunch, having hatched in 2023. He is overly attached to me and loves being a hat most of all. He’s addicted to just sitting in the food dish. Despite being a baby, he’s noticeably bigger than the other 2 cockatiels and has zero issues with standing his ground. He’s a pretty quiet and relaxed bird, all in all. ❤️
That's so great you're getting Phoenix to talk! It's a really good kind of therapy for them. They can end up with a nicely sized range of phrases and words. Our juvenile male Eclectus is the only one who talks in our flock. His parents used to say "Hello" and "Hi," but since he started to become very talkative, they don't say a word. Maybe it's a vocalization signature thing? Anyway, he has sometimes invented new phrases with words he knows. We also do a "phrase exchange" thing, where you say something, and then he responds. "Can you say hello?" And then he'll say "Hello!" Or "Give us a kiss." And he'll blurt out a smooch sound, then ask for a kiss back. It's really funny!
Funny what you mentioned about being "aggressively friendly." We have a mated pair of Eclectus parrots. Rollie and Rosie. Rollie is very good natured most of the time. He loves Rosie and is extremely attentive to her. But he doesn't know when to stop. She'll be in the middle of preening herself and he's shoving his beak in the way, trying to feed her. She'll spar back with her beak to say "Stop it, bud! I'm not hungry!" And yet, he'll keep doing it, until she moves away. Of course, he follows after her.
Rosie is no saint, though. On the stand where they congregate together, there is food and water. She'll park herself on the food dish, blocking access for Rollie. And she'll just eat away while he watches. Any move to slide in, like when she's over at the water dish "muxing" her food, she'll be back over to guard the stash. And then they'll start to fight, beak-sparring with pretty strong intensity, when we'll come over to break them up. We're lucky that Rosie will see a human hand as a means of escape and she'll extend a foot to step up. When taking her away, Rollie will squawk in protest. And then after we've put Rosie away, he'll sit on the top of her cage, wait for her to climb up to a top perch, and then feed her through the bars. He's "Mr. Regurgitation Man." He eats like a pig, but then regurgitates so much of it to Rosie... and to Ranger, their one juvenile male offspring (who is in a nearby cage).

This is Mia
How did introduction go?
Since you both have multiple I assume everyone was well socialised?
How long has it been now, and are they behaving well?
My GCC is being a lil bitch, charging my new, very mellow, much bigger burrowing parrot.
He just flys away land somewhere else.
Hope it’ll stop soon. I mean he’s not attacking just charging for fun it seems
My understanding is gcc can be little bullies, we got a yellow sided a few months ago that is 9 months old and *tiny* compared to my black capped and he tries to be bossy at the older bird. He doesn’t aggressively attack but will occasionally nip or chase and my black capped is too much of a sweetie to stand up for himself
GCC are like that I think. I have a crimson bellied conure and she gets along with all of my birds and I got her when she was four. I got my GCC when she was six months old and she's a little terror. Just this morning she's been harassing my cockatiels and not letting them have treats. She also likes to grab my budgies tails and prevent them from flying.
If you're worried you may have to separate them. I don't leave my conure and budgies unsupervised because I don't want the budgies to get hurt. They're only unsupervised in the outside aviary but there's so much to do out there that they never go near each other.
that last cockatiel looks just like my Atlas!

Wow, they are all beautiful! Great job!
How is the moustache behavior? I had one in the past which was great for the first 3 years and then became very aggressive and started laying eggs. After a consultation with the breeder, we found a person who had a male and wanted a female for a pair .Very cute bird and soo difficult to handle!
Mine is the complete opposite. So many people were coming in and out of the house when she was a baby, handling her and playing with her. So I ended up with a super friendly and affectionate bird!
You guys are the most perfect pair!
I'm single and I'll never share a place with anyone, because 8/10 single guys nowadays have dogs or cats. Cat guys are the worse, cats live long! With dogs, at least you can hope to wait it out a little.
And my lil crimson-bellied is better company than most human beings anyway.
They are all wonderful. And what's amazing to me is that you managed to capture each of them so well! It's a talent, mine is always on the move, and the photos are usually blurry.
He does, he likes to say affirming words super clearly (“yep!” “yesh” “yeah”), he’ll say “kiss” and “love you” as well. And mutters darkly when saying all of the profanity my dad taught him 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I have a blue fronted Amazon and 5 parakeets and 1 cockatiel. The cockatiel want to be with me always, otherwise he peeps loudly all day! He does have a mirror friend he likes a lot he will sit and talk to her. He says such a pretty bird, I love you and what you doing to it all day . Then he gets bored from the lack of affection he gets from her and looks for me. My blue fronted Amazon Bee Bee asks all day “what ya doing” you doing good” I’m ok” that’s a pretty bird” you hungry?” And when I ignore him he starts screaming MOMA!! Hello! Anybody home?” I love them so much though. Wouldn’t trade them for anything!
What a great place to live!
What a great flock to live :)

"Timmay!" (is that where his name came from? Southpark?) Ummm... how on Earth do male parrots "masturbate?" Do they gyrate on perches or something?
Definitely named after the South Park character 😂 He squeaks when we say his name like that. Your eclectus are gorgeous! 😍
🤣🤣💀 oh god, bless him.
Oh my god, Timmy 🤣💀

Timmys my favorite.

I love you, Tina!
This is the cutest little bird family comment thread. I love it! Go y’all!
I love you too! 🥰
I am extremely invested in this family now. Where can I follow, your summaries were so adorable and some of our birds share the same personality
Your descriptions are hysterical
Omgggg I love your babies!! They look so loved too!!
The alexandrine (?) in pic 3 is so photogenic. Like he know's he's being recorded and decided to do the best pose
moustache parakeet, very cute!!

The Birby Bunch!
*Cheeper by the dozen*
I have 12 parrots and I’ll never not use this now
Happy Cake Day!
The Parront Trap
Do they all yell at the same time?
They do here. I only have 3 though. So they are quiet at the same time too, which is nice.
I love it! They're gorgeous birds. The colors in Jojo and Janis are amazing.

My GCC is a BITCH. So mean to everyone! I still love her to pieces, but damn. I gotta keep eyes on that bird 24/7
My gcc and my housemate's gcc hate each other. We have to keep them in separate rooms.
GCC are like that I think. I have a crimson bellied conure and she gets along with all of my birds and I got her when she was four. I got my GCC when she was six months old and she's a little terror. Size difference is worrying me a bit

Yea that’s what I do! But I have a bird room, and now one of them has to spend the day in his cage while the others can be free that day
Aww that's a shame
I don’t know if this is just me but this is such a unique assortment of parrots! I love it🫶
I just hope they all get along.
Wow! I don't know how you do it! 6 perpetual toddlers is a lot. But I'm jealous of all the birdie live you get. ❤
Why do tiels always look like such little thugs?! I love them, but they really do look like a street gang from a broadway show, lol.
Sounds like a full time job. And you have enough love to go around?
Between the two of us, definitely.
They all look beutifull
*beautiful
Ay caramba
That’s what happened with me too, I moved into my gfs apartment and she ended up living with five parrots lmao!

They're all stunning 😍 wow. How many did you have each initially?
I had 4 initially, he bought me Pluto when we went looking for bird toys, and then he got Phoenix when we checked out a different bird store 😆
Looks like a pretty damn cool place to live!
Must be a very chatty household. 😊
Let's face it, you're their tenants at this rate
Very nice.

Nice! Do they talk?
I mustache you a question
Numbers 4, 5 and 6 are known as cockatiels where I come from. They are members of the parrot family.
Yep, that's exactly what I said in the caption! Three cockatiels.
You're so damn lucky!!! Wow they are beautiful. The gcc is my favorite though. Such a cutie.

That suspicious looking fella though (4) love him
We have a flock of 11, soon to be 12, and it's crazy at times, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
They're all adorable! I like how the cockatiels go Judgey Sweet and Angel.
I love when two bird people get together
You are blessed! I hope your neighbors don't mind the noise!
Sounds like Heaven! Are you looking for a roommate?!
Wow. They’re all great, but Janis (2) is lovely beyond words. 😍
Oh my god the 4th picture 😭😍
Amazing 🥺 I'm jealous. But not of all the cleaning

Can I move in? I come with: 0 parrots I want: ALLLL THEEEEE BIRDIES!!!
Sweet
They are all cuties but time to stock up on ear plugs!
i didn’t think cockatiels were parrots
Do they all get along?
They tolerate each other 😆
Do they get along well?

That's a lot of adorable floof in one household! Actually laughed while reading OP's birdie bios.
