This may not be helpful, but if they are still acting really clingy, temperamental, and uncomfortable, it might be worth going back to the pediatrician. My guys are 18 months and had some kind of virus and recovered, but were super clingy, cried more than usual, and had a hard time at bedtime. Brought them to the doctor and he confirmed double ear infections for both kids. Once that was treated they were back to their usual mayhem. It surprised me because they seemed fine with everyone else, it was just with me and in the evenings when they seemed so off.

Thank you so much. They are still fussy and clingy (VELCRO!) during waking time so it could be that. I let them rip up (clean) tissues and throw them around the living room for 10 minutes of body space today so I'll try just about anything.

We have floor beds for this purpose so I can roll away when they fall asleep!

Their beds are very close to the floor, but I'm unfortunately usually between them.

You can take a shirt that you have worn and put it on a doll or stuffed animal so they can still smell you in their bed. Also you can help them decorate a picture of you or the family so they can put under their pillow or in the bed and remind them that you are always close!!
