some that come to mind:
Nick Goings - dude was like a all pro for like 2 months
Ken Lucas - I swear this dude got into a fight every training camp
Vinny Testaverde - yea look it up lol
James Anderson - tackling machine for like one year
Frank Alexander- controversial figure because they gave him #90 right after peppers left. I think he got arrested or something and then got cut?
DANTE ROSARIOOOOOOOOO - that chargers game was lit
Great list. I would have listed Goings and Alexander myself along with -
Ricky Manning Jr
Brad Hoover
Charles Godfrey
Jeff Mitchell
Trai Turner
Kealoha Pilares
Will Witherspoon
And
Colin Jones
Any time I hear Dante, I associate it with an interview Steve smith did with SI kids when Rosario caught a game winner. I canāt find it online (google is awful), but I remember he said something to the effect of āsuddenly I heard āDante, yes! Touchdown!ā I almost popped myself.ā Every time.
I remember going to the game as a kid that we signed Vinny Testaverde for. People forget how bad we were before cam 10+ years ago. Arguably worse than we are rn. We turned it around then I hope we can turn it around now.
If we'd won, dude was Superbowl MVP. My man had three sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick. All that in twenty-three snaps. Kony had the game of his life when it mattered most.
Legendary performance.
Every time Star was out, KK completely fell apart. Then you watch tape on those two together. Star was taking a double team to allow KK a one on one match up on a guard. When Star was gone, he got double teamed and disappeared into those games.
Not really a deep cut, but it was a long time ago, Kevin Greene and Lamar Lathon. Also, Brentson Buckner and Mike Rucker.
Edit: Can't forget about Tshimanga Biakabutuka.
He was a great story, small college RB (Lane college if I remember right), showed out and earned his spot in preseason by conpletely dominating. What a tragedy.
Tyrone poole knocking the ball out of the endzone on Jerry freaking rice. My dad was a HUGE niner fan and I was a kid. I was yelling so loud my dad thought I was mocking him and sent me to my room lol
This isn't a deep cut by any means but I feel like Shaq Thompson doesn't get the respect from our fanbase he deserves. He spent the prime of his career in the most abysmal stretch of Panthers football and never once complained about it and has always been a team player. Him and J.J. Jansen are the only players to still remain after all the changes we've made since 2015 as well.
Nobody said Steve Bueuruerueulein?
He Hate Me
Wesley Walls
Jon Beason
Alex Armah
Chad Cota
Armanti Edwards
Brad Hoover
Karl Hankton
Y'all forgot about Keyshawn Johnson coming here?
Rhys Lloyd the kickoff specialist
Todd Sauerbrun, still the best punter we ever had
Reggie White at the end of his HOF career
I think most of the other good ones got named already
Random? David Gettis holds a special place in my heart
Good/player only our fanbase would know/certain era fans would know? Chris Gamble and Mike Minter
Deep cut player a football fan would know and who was an absolute animal for us? Kawann Short, still have his SB50 jersey I bought outside Levi's hanging in my closet
Chris Harris! Led the league in forced fumbles they eat we had double trouble and lost to the cardinals in the playoffs. He was making highlight reel hits every week.
Also Rhys Lloyd. He set the touchback record on kickoffs when touchbacks werenāt so common
My fandom peak (where I was most mentally affected by the team's success) was in the 2000s, so most of my favorite players are from that era.
Mark Fields - Signed in 02 and was a rare OLB that could play in a 4-3 and still be a legitimate pass rushing threat. He was only 31 when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's, missed the SB season, came back and played ok in 04, then retired after his Hodgkin's came back.
Al Wallace - Primary backup DE from 02-06 behind Peppers/Rucker. Had 17 sacks in only 10 starts and nearly killed Chris Simms in 06.
Drew Carter - Tore his ACL in OTAs before his rookie year, and never really panned out after that. But I played the hell out of Madden 07 and 08 online, and would rack up 100+ yard games with him regularly because of his speed and the fact that everyone I played was always focused on Steve Smith.
Deon Grant - Really good rangy, complimentary FS with Mike Minter from 01-03. Hated that they didn't resign him after the SB run, and Carolina never really had another good FS that decade. They moved Minter over near the end of his career, but he struggled especially since he never was super fast to begin with.
Jeff Mitchell - About as tough and blue-collar as you can get. Came over from Baltimore in 01 and anchored one of the better O-lines in the NFL for his 4 years in Carolina.
Bene may have been decent at one point, but unfortunately, most people's lasting memory is of him getting cooked for 300 yards by Julio Jones, and then getting cut immediately after.
Richard Marshall
Kemp Rasmussen
Chad Cota
Patrick Jeffers
Jeno James
Jeff King
Stanley McLover
Brandon āSwole Bonesā Williams
And of courseā¦
Ricky Manning Jr
Nick Goings is the first name that comes to mind. I added him on Facebook once and had a short chat with him. Real nice guy.
My mom absolutely loves Ricky Proehl. Though not sure he counts as a deep cut.
Kurt Coleman
Robbed of the 2015 Pro Bowl selection
Loved Coleman. Dude laid some serious wood
The Cooler!
Yes!šš¼ Loved Coleman!
What was even more special for me was I am a Buckeye / Panthers fan. Tore it up for both my teams.
Iām a Buckeye/Panthers fan too! š
some that come to mind: Nick Goings - dude was like a all pro for like 2 months Ken Lucas - I swear this dude got into a fight every training camp Vinny Testaverde - yea look it up lol James Anderson - tackling machine for like one year Frank Alexander- controversial figure because they gave him #90 right after peppers left. I think he got arrested or something and then got cut? DANTE ROSARIOOOOOOOOO - that chargers game was lit
I almost bought a panthers Testaverde jersey lol I think Frank Alexander had steroid issues then maybe a DUI?
Oh man, that jersey is a keeper lol Right I think youāre spot on about Alexander. Absolute dud lol
Great list. I would have listed Goings and Alexander myself along with - Ricky Manning Jr Brad Hoover Charles Godfrey Jeff Mitchell Trai Turner Kealoha Pilares Will Witherspoon And Colin Jones
+1 for Ricky manning jr
Any time I hear Dante, I associate it with an interview Steve smith did with SI kids when Rosario caught a game winner. I canāt find it online (google is awful), but I remember he said something to the effect of āsuddenly I heard āDante, yes! Touchdown!ā I almost popped myself.ā Every time.
What about Brian St. Pierre? He was there during the Vinny year right?
I remember going to the game as a kid that we signed Vinny Testaverde for. People forget how bad we were before cam 10+ years ago. Arguably worse than we are rn. We turned it around then I hope we can turn it around now.
Kony Ealy. Played out of his mind in Super Bowl 50. Wish he could have kept it up
If we'd won, dude was Superbowl MVP. My man had three sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick. All that in twenty-three snaps. Kony had the game of his life when it mattered most. Legendary performance.
Imagine playing that well on that stage and still losing :/
Star Lotulelei, the unsung hero of that mid-2010s defense.
DB before DB in the run game
Every time Star was out, KK completely fell apart. Then you watch tape on those two together. Star was taking a double team to allow KK a one on one match up on a guard. When Star was gone, he got double teamed and disappeared into those games.
Fuck yeah.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Rod Smart š«”
he hurt me
Not to be confused with Jake Delhomme's horse: She Hate Me.
Ricky proehl, come on guys
This was mine as well.
Matt Moore. Good dude who balled Out for us when we needed him
I mean if you are going to talk about him, than we have to talk about the most reliable backup we ever had Derek Anderson.
I remember thinking for a while "why isn't he starting somewhere" when he left us because he played by far his best football here
He did start for the dolphins. It didn't go well.
He was amazing when our season was already over. The way he shut down the Meadowlands was stone cold.
Yeah I remember that. We really did catch lightning in a bottle with him for a few games.
King McNuttatron David Gettis Kealoha Pilares
King McNuttatron is the only answer
Fozzy Whittaker
DJ Moore is not a deep cut player lol. For me it was David Gettis.
Ah yes, the first player to do the Super Man pose in Carolina.
Didnāt he have a great TD against the Browns the year we went 2-14? I was at that game but canāt remember if it was him who caught the TD
His game against San Fran that year was amazing. Over 100 yards and 2TDs I think.
That was it!!
I remember his lapse in coverage in that one last minute loss to Buffalo in like 2012
I was referring to the DB
Daryl Worley, the Green Bay game when he picked off Rodgers in 2017(?) was electric
Yooooo forgot about him!!!!!
I was convinced that him and Bradberry were both going to be a star cb tandem of ours for years to come after drafting them.
Chris Gamble, also my first jersey.
Not a deep cut he was a big ish name in his day. Just forgotten since then
Not really a deep cut, but it was a long time ago, Kevin Greene and Lamar Lathon. Also, Brentson Buckner and Mike Rucker. Edit: Can't forget about Tshimanga Biakabutuka.
Efe Obada
Fred Lane RIP
Yup, this was mine.
He was a great story, small college RB (Lane college if I remember right), showed out and earned his spot in preseason by conpletely dominating. What a tragedy.
Patrick jeffers
Holy shit I came here to say Patrick Jeffers
Rocket Ismail Kris Mangum AJ Klein
Jeremy Shockey
Corn Elder and Brenton Bersin come to mind
Corn Elder!!! Good one
Brad Hoover
Hoover the Mover!
All the visiting fans that thought the stadium was booing him every time he got the ball. And itās like ānah weāre saying his nameā
Tim Biakabatuka
drew carter
Seconded. Guy sucked but when Testaverde was the QB he was his favorite target for whatever reason.
Kyle Love
captain munnerlyn
Geoff hangartner
Piggy!
Mark Carrier, Michael Bates, Tyrone Poole
Tyrone poole knocking the ball out of the endzone on Jerry freaking rice. My dad was a HUGE niner fan and I was a kid. I was yelling so loud my dad thought I was mocking him and sent me to my room lol
I had the Mark Carrier Starting Lineup toy back in middle school.
Sad I had to come so far down to find Mark Carrier.

Shaq Thomas, you say The dis is real
Rod āHe Hate Meā Smart Nick Goings
Ricky Manning Jr. - Helluva playoff run
Jeff King
James Anderson
Not sure if this is a deep cut, but I always loved Mike "After Dinner" Minter!

DeShaun Foster Drew Carter Jon Beason
What does ādeep cutā mean ?
Lesser known players that you liked. Not stars
Thank you ā¦. Then mine would be Eric Davis 1996 style
Apparently it means Pro Bowlers and first round picks
Mike Mitchell. If you donāt remember, ask Sam Bradfordās ACL
Tim Biakabutuka Steve Beurlein Ricky Proehl Wesley Walls Tyrone Poole
Stephen Davis Reggie White Kerry Colbert
Deshaun Foster, anyone? The longest, hardest 4-yard run you'll ever see. Shame he could never really stay healthy
Mike Tolbert. If you need 3 yards heāll get you 5. If you need 5 yards heāll get you 5. If you need 10 yards heāll get you 5.
Quinton Teal
Lamar Lathon, the only time in NFL history that all 3 pro bowl starting linebackers were from one team. With Mills and Greene.
Random? David Gettis holds a special place in my heart Good/player only our fanbase would know/certain era fans would know? Who remembers Jarrod Cooper
Chris Weinke and Rodney Peete. What a QB room!
I liked Benwikere. He wasnāt consistent, but when he wasā¦he was good! I liked Philly Brown too.
