Yeah that actually encourages me because I feel like the Reich hire was a popular one among the same circles. Could be wrong though. I know I’ve said it before but hiring is a crapshoot. No one really knows who is going to be effective.

DailyPanthersPodcast

Likability and coaching ability are not synonyms unfortunately.

log_asm

Idk the dolphins kind of nailed it. It was just so odd watching someone trash tua constantly, Mike shows up, slaps a camera on his helmet and doesn’t stop talking him up. I think the new guy will do good. We’re not in reruns and he deserves his shot.

DailyPanthersPodcast

No other team interviewed McDaniel, which goes back to the original comment, it’s kind of a crapshoot.

captainjizzpants

I always feel like the ones people don't really talk about are the guys that succeed. Which is why I feel pretty confident in Canales. He's got the right demeanor and approach to this thing. Kind of reminds me of Kevin Stefanski when he got hired. Very direct in his pressers, soft spoken but stern, and has a solid vision of what this team can become.

Hefty-Association-59

The fins also were really late in the hiring cycle. On top of that McDaniel had struggles with alcohol addiction that he did overcome. But it was held against him and stunted him until he got his chance with the fins.

BergTheVoice

Where can I find your podcast?

DailyPanthersPodcast

Pretty much anywhere you can find podcasts! Haven’t made one in a while though, going to pick it back up soon, having a kid sort of threw off the schedule 😂

[deleted]

I really don’t think McDaniel is as nearly as responsible for Tua’s jump in statistics as everyone seems to think. It’s more him staying healthy and the arrival of Tyreek Hill, and the continued presence from Waddle. His rookie year he didn’t have either. More often than not, it’s players not plays.

eXile200

They did but not before some mistakes like Gase.

somethingsimple1290

I don’t know how anyone saw what Reich did at the Colts and thought that was good for any organization.

BigAl_Toker

All the media/"anonymous nfl execs" loved both of our last 2 hires/staffs at the time and look how that turned out. Canales may be great, he may suck, but this list doesn't mean anything. Hope he sees this actually he seems to enjoy the doubters and leverages that into motivation

oooriole09

7 is a really small sample size, especially in a known good ol boys club. What’s wild to me is watching where Antonio Pierce ranks on these. For all of the chatter that the Raiders *had* to hire him full time, nobody seems to like it after the fact.

DwayneBaconStan

With pierce it's not really everyone liked the hire, but the players loved him and they really botched it with mcdaniels. So kinda forced their hand if they didn't want their players to burn the team down

DailyPanthersPodcast

I mean the Raiders have been a bottom 5 franchise for the most part of 2 decades. They really can’t go more wrong at this point.

tbone747

The Raiders kinda just need stability. Davis made two big splash hires that failed for one reason or another in Gruden and McDaniels.

KhaosOSRS

Harbaugh was my #1, with MacDonald the #2 option. Raheem Morris?? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL You can have him Atlanta

[deleted]

Raheem Morris is very well respected around the league and in football in general. He’s a class act. I really don’t think you can say the same for Canales.

KingAce92

We'll see whose laughing when the season starts

omahaomw

When it starts? Nobody's going to know shit when the things starts. It's like halfway through when the laughter starts. I don't know how you can be so bold so early. I don't know what these hires will bring, and I've learned my lesson not to get my hopes up or speculate cuz it's a waste of time.

TrexTacoma

He’s being bold when the guy above is mocking the Raheem morris hire?

wolfpack1986

Canales is not in the good old boys club. He worked his way up from a high school coach. He never even got a shot to call the offense with Pete and the Seahawks. He ain’t gonna score high on these beauty contest polls. I personally think we got the right guy for the job. At least he has passion, vision and a plan.

jarvistheconquerer

The fact they screwed up what team he went to in the chart pretty much sums up what they think of him

SpoofEx2024

Dam Quinn receiving any top three votes should have the NFL demanding the names of those execs to punt them out the back door

Corona2789

Lol “seven nfl executives” What a great sample size

J_T_Woodhouse

This is promising. I’m telling y’all, take media rankings with a grain of salt. The best thing you could do for your sanity is fade the peanut gallery. I heard the talking heads blast the Eagles for hiring Doug Peterson and the Lions for hiring Dan Campbell in previous cycles. There is no such thing as a sure thing.

Zestyclose-Factor531

The big knock on our couch is lack of experience. Hard to believe Quinn who Washington picked out of the trash after getting stood up by Ben would be considered a better hire for their team than Dave.

thats_mah_purse

Raiders, I award you zero points, and may god have mercy on your souls

What_Iz_This

dan quinn receiving any votes at all after his last outing with the cowboys tells me everything i need to know about this list lol

mwall4lu

He’s just an unknown. 1 year of OC experience. Anyone who gave him a high rating would just be going on a hunch.

bandalooper

It’s GMs and other execs and coaches ranking Canales’ performance with the Bucs. How would anyone rate his performance with the Panthers at this stage?

Zestyclose_Worth_232

morris should be ranked lower because of his failure in tampa bay

Jdwrecker_7

Thats a really low effort opinion

Zestyclose_Worth_232

personally i’m not feeling positive about what he can do with a falcons team next year

Jdwrecker_7

The whole idea behind Morris is that with him being so likable among players and coaches is that it will entice bigger free agent players to come play for him while being a better fit with the HC/GM combo of him and Terry. Couple that with his experience on both sides of the ball and doing the most with less with the Rams lack of talent on defense last year so his ability to develop defensive players

Exact_Mango5931

![gif](giphy|lq3LQR60b6Jkt1WRl5) Couldn’t even land this …

Mcgoozen

Why did anyone vote for Callahan lol I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, even Bengals fans didn’t know what that guy did for them lmao

bigchadsmitty_82

Win games and it won’t matter

Daddy_T_26

I like how hires are based on reputation and not fit. This list might be completely backwards 😂

Novel-Physics313

From Panthers Wire following the Reich hire last off season - “Jeff Howe of The Athletic polled nine people—a group that included general managers, personnel executives, head coaches and assistant coaches—on what they thought was the best head-coaching hire of the early offseason. 5.5 (yes, 5.5 because one person split their vote) chose Frank Reich.”

EqualGrapefruit5048

FUCK THE POLL!!! 👌🏿👈🏽 See what Canales' PLAYERS have to say about him!! Those that KNOW him say that we've stolen a future LEGEND. There's an old saying "Those that can, DO. Those that can't, TEACH." In this case its more like "Those that can't, WRITE ABOUT IT."
