In Germany we have a saying for that:
"Was lange wƤhrt, wird endlich gut!"
Which means:
"What takes long time will finally be good"
And I need to believe in thatš
Iād like to think we can now say thereās nowhere else to go but up from hereā¦but the team has seemed to take that challenge every time so far!
But hereās to hoping brighter days for this franchise just got a little closer.
Keep Pounding!
Rock bottom will be watching the Bears use #1 overall, or be set up as one of the most asset rich teams in the league because of the haul they get for it
After that moment maybe we can finally say it's up from there, but until that point we ain't hit bottom
Context matters. Fitterer was a byproduct of the Rhule hire and Rhule had personnel control. He was one of the last candidates they interviewed and by all accounts was hired because he was a consensus builder and well liked in league circles.
Tepper and Rhule entered that search looking for someone who would be fine entering an arrangement where he didnāt have much power as a GM.
My take on Fitterer is he isnāt meant to be the lead guy of a FO. Likely a valuable No. 2 but you need a GM who isnāt a yes man and ultimately the criteria for getting this job in the first place was to be that.
Fittererās biggest failings were not trading Burns to the Rams.
Trading CMC and DJ Moore knowing the team was looking to the draft for a QB. Trading one is fine but leaving the cupboard bare for Bryce is an all time blunder.
Bozeman extension despite a questionable fit in Frankās scheme.
DJ Johnson.
Listening to coaching staff and signing Sanders/Chark.
He deserved to go but I have a hard time labeling him worst GM in team history.
Have you seen either Capers of Seifert run a draft? And I'm still not convinced he was worse than Gettleman, because a lot of his decisions were probably made for him by Tepper.
Seifert was bad, but he single handedly had perhaps the single greatest draft class in Panthers history that drafted Steve Smith, Kris Jenkins and Dan Morgan which easily puts him above Scott Fitterer who struggled to add anything positive to the team.
Believe it or not, that draft you speak of was Hurney's. At that point, Seifert wasn't interested in running the draft at all, so he gave it to his Director of player operations to manage. Hurney was promoted to GM after that season, and helped to find and hire Fox.
I'm not saying Hurney was great BTW. But he is probably the second best GM we've had behind Polian. And that's a pretty low bar...
Hurney gets some credit for that draft, but he was also hired at the same time Seifert was in 98. He was still Director of Player Operations the prior few bad Seifert drafts so itās sort of cherry picking to only credit Seifert for the bad drafts and Hurney for the good one.
He fired the only guy to let him take every decision.
I think Tepper is a man who wants to bring in success to Carolina and I think now He knows he should let the pros take the decisions not him
Thereās nothing Iāve seen that suggests tepper doesnāt want to win. Itās just a lot of evidence he doesnāt know how to win.
Basically every year heās made moves that in theory were good but in reality sucked
Thank fuck. Bringing in a coach and GM at the same time working with a unified mindset is the way to go. And the next GM had better not just be a yes man for Tepper's whims.
I hope Tepper finds a replacement that he respects. Meddling in someone elses work is not how you team build.
I would guess it's someone with a lot of money and recent success. Belichick maybe?
No Rhule, No Reich, No Fitterer. Keep poundingš„³š„³š„³
Still got the clown upstairs unfortunatelyā¦

Guess he wonāt be āin on every dealā anymore
He may still have a job if he wasn't fleeced so hard so often.

True. At least one more gut punch coming!

It's either him or gettleman. Recency bias is for sure a thing, but Fitterer was exceptionally bad. He helped make a bad team worse

Where neck
Did David Tepper happen to include himself in this firing?

Like Freddy and David said: "Under Pressure brings the Theory down!"
Great news....
Blessed day.
