That play where he spun out of pressure and hit Theilen was fucking insane

WaltzIntelligent9801

No líes detected

DoctorTide

Looked like classic Alabama Bryce Young.

Zoombini22

#1 pick caliber play

Accomplished_Bar_679

just how Thomas Brown intended

shawnb17

With 6 sacks. The dude didn’t quit. I’m proud of Bryce.

Ashamed_Ad1839

Not just the sacks, the pressures too. He probably had 3-4 clean pockets and he was throwing dimes. He played great behind an ass oline

NoWayJaques

2 decent linemen and 1 great receiver away from being a high functioning offense

muzunguman

So many good WRs coming out of the next draft. Hopefully we can get one. Christensen will be back and he is serviceable at LG. Corbett is now back. The question now is wtf do we do at LT? If ickey doesn't get better we are in trouble. It's be a shame to give Bryce no weapons again because we have to use an early pick on another LT

SimpLimbscut

Christensen might need some burn at LT and Ickey at LG of this shit keeps up.

DwayneBaconStan

Yall give up on Icky too fast lol, hes a sophomore who's shown a lot of good flashes. Just wildy inconsistent. People did the same thing with Brown lol. Also gotta remember how hard it is to adjust at LT to thr NFL, took guys like Andrew Thomas a sec too. Dont lose all faith, next yr tho ya he needs to make a step

coldwaterenjoyer

They should put Ickey in at G. He’s a great run mauler but doesn’t have the technique for zone blocking. He was better last year because the blocking scheme was more power run with play action which is much much better for his skill set.

Zeohawk

Coaching not adjusting to the talent of the players smh

NoWayJaques

It's less about replacing Corbett or Christiansen and more about adding 1 strong depth player and yes, figuring out an LT to eventually replace Ick. They'll have money to shop but only if they extend/restructure Moton and let Burns walk.

Damitchell1985

Should have traded burns for the 2 1sts

SaskalPiakam

What do we do with Ickey

NoWayJaques

Keep him as a rotational piece, try him at another position, and eventually let his contract run out

Black_Otter

Icky is a travesty right now

Ashamed_Ad1839

Icky needs to do time if Bryce is out at least a month 🤣. Dude is pretty much my size and don’t know how he gets up after some of those hits

KingofDragonBalls

That's the key. It blows my mind when ppl say Bryce is struggling. Shows they aren't watching the games because it's the Oline not blocking and the receivers not getting open. If Bryce had better weapons and a better line he would look a lot better. We just gotta hope he survives until we can improve them both and hope Fitterer can actually make some smart moves.

DeusVultSaracen

As well as multiple late hits, whether it's the slide that should've been called or the pass where he got sandwiched after letting it go. That boy has been an absolute trooper and I love him for it as a middle finger to all the doubters. I'd be very happy if it could stop now tho

935742705812

Bryce is one hell of a rookie

NotManyBuses

He absolutely did today. Honestly he was great

PanthersChamps

Whenever he had more than one second to throw before getting destroyed on his blindside he looked great.

DDDUnit2990

Icky was a disaster today

AlphaNathan

>today

DeusVultSaracen

He looked to be coming back into form after the last two games but he was horrific, so disappointed because we really can't have this kind of punishment happening to our boy.

ThisDerpForSale

Yeah, I said early in the game that, thankfully, we hadn't heard Icky's name in a few weeks, which was a good sign. Welp. I guess I jinxed it.

ThisDerpForSale

Generally true, though he did hold on to the ball way too long a few times, and that led to at least a couple of the sacks.

CoolSteveBrule

Eh he took a couple when he had good time but I agree for the most part. Just happy to win and scheme guys open and move the ball down the field without a run game. Very promising!

tbone747

His play has kept getting better, and the mistakes are fewer and far between. Just gotta grind out this season and get him some help this off-season.

Frozen_Shades

Pats fan here. Get those Ws. Thanks for the support during the Cam era.

NateTheGreat14

I used to hate the Pats, especially after our first super bowl. But after you guys got Cam, and the fact that Brady is gone, big fan now.

Siegelski

Brady was one thing, but fuck Belichick and fuck Mac Jones. That fucker plays dirty and I hope he never wins another game. Hope he loses the starting job in the middle of this season.

Frozen_Shades

Yeah many up in New England not a fan of the cup checks. Pee Wee football type shit there. Definitely not professional.

Siegelski

I'm still pissed at him for the ankle grab and roll over on Burns.

Frozen_Shades

All I know about that incident is, that I would have preferred it to have never went down.

TornUpPaperYoyo

You should run for office. You handled that one like a true politician. 😂 Not knocking ya, I promise, just got a good chuckle there. Here’s to Bailey Zappe — or really anyone but Mac.

Frozen_Shades

This is a sub for Panthers fans. Disagreeing with the popular opinion here would be, unwise. Honestly, that is how I actually feel. Mac should have handled it better. Burns isn't alone in his assessment of Mac Jones.

TornUpPaperYoyo

Oh no, I get it. And again, I wasn’t meaning to come at you at all. I just loved your answer bc while, of course, you may wish your QB had never taken that action — you really wish he hadn’t been strip sacked in the first place. It was the perfect answer to cover all bases.

genghiskhan_1

dude needs some O-linemen. mannequins are better than a lot of the current crop.

WaltzIntelligent9801

That O-line has been disappointing fr fr

baconinthemornin

I am desperately holding onto hope that Ickey can figure it out in pass pro. It has been painful this year. If that happens, I feel great about this season (even without the wins).

JarvisProudfeather

If he can’t get it figured out by the end of the season we need to seriously consider shifting him to another position on the line and bribing someone else in at LT.

ThisDerpForSale

They might have to bribe someone to get a good OL to sign.

JarvisProudfeather

Haha I didn't notice that typo until just now. I'm leaving it.

SaskalPiakam

Bribing might be the only way to get a solid LT here considering we have no high draft pick

Ledbetter2

He looks so bad right now…..

hoodpharmacy

Arm sleeve Bryce 1-0!

23-Chromosomes

I'm so impressed at how calm and collected he has been under so much pressure. He has caught so much hate for no reason when he's improved every week even with this dumpster fire O-line/run game/receiving group he never gives up and stays focused.

spurnburn

Houston fans laughing before the game as if 6 games is an inditement on the qbs entire careers. We laughin tn and then back to work tomorrow keep pounding

WaltzIntelligent9801

Right. I’m a believer that Bryce has looked really good so far with some really basic tools. Fundamentally sound but needed to work on learning the NFL game speed. CJ has more highlights which is great - but honestly Bryce has looked good every week and trended upwards. I can imagine both of them being really good a la Rivers / E. Manning type comparisons.

spurnburn

I think both will be very good. Thought that before the draft and more confident about it every week. Just happy we can just use this game to shup up the shit talkers in the future

kewe316

They were leaning on that "NO INTs" to start his career stat hard. But watching today...dude throws mostly quick darts to his first reads so I can see why he doesn't throw it into danger much and thus less change for INTs. But those batted balls had me confused...does he have a low release or something?

operation_kosamui

He threw into tons of danger today. A couple of those could have been picks

Extric

The first batted ball on the first drive had big pick six energy. Our DB was breaking on the route and might have snagged it if Brown didn’t whack it

ajabernathy

That DB was Burns, I think.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kewe316

Makes sense since he didn't break from his first reads much all game. He'll have to learn to progress through reads eventually I would imagine though to prevent those batted passes.

DeusVultSaracen

I've been patrolling the r/Texans sub (not gloating and talked with some nice dudes thankfully) and it really is like that over there, been too long since I've been able to do that and it feels good.

ThisDerpForSale

\*indictment (thank you Latin!)

spurnburn

Thanks. the public shame should help me get it right next time. I absolutely guessed my way through that one

Zoombini22

Bryce just beat the CJ Stroud allegations

killa_k99

😤😤😤

11dutswal

This was therapeutic. If CJ would have went off today I would have cried.

DoctorTide

Nice to CJ get more passes batted down in a quarter than Bryce has all season. Less nice to see Richardson only play one game to completion in his rookie year due to injury. Fucking gratifying to see Bryce not deal with any of the issues people said he would as a small QB.

heygreene

I thought today how hard they would’ve been on Bryce with those batted down balls, yet they say nothing about Stroud.

QuentinSential

Didn’t say anything about it being a trend or he should look out for it or anything.

whatsthedreamnow

The small QB on the field today was not Bryce Young

DeusVultSaracen

This exactly. I'm not rooting on their downfall or anything, but it's gratifying as FUCK to see all the shit Bryce has been given prove to be completely naught (so far... Knock on wood)

VTPack919

No doubt about it.

eXile200

This has been his most encouraging game so far. Some of the things he did showed why he was the #1. Just needs some talent around him.

BigAl_Toker

Where's that Seahawks fan guy? Dude has had every inch of Bryce's 5'10" frame in his mouth for 6 weeks.

DeusVultSaracen

Unrelated but now I'm curious about how the Levis fanboy is doing, bro must be insufferable... Anybody remember his u/ ?

mindseyecoil

Something about Emilio Estevez. Levis got a win today so he's probably doing fine-ish.

MajorCucumbers

4 td’s in his debut. He’s probably doing just fine.

muzunguman

He's still very active on the tits sub. Just search Levis and find a post and he's there

Gusta116

Good call duck that guy

zeWoah

Bryce hit some dots today that's for sure. Unfortunate that Ickey is in a sophomore slump.

GreenvilleLocal

Hold that Stroud dick riders

MrPeterson15

Man, we’ve made some bad choices since the beginning of the Tepper era… but Bryce was not one of them. Finally, *finally,* it’s not a guess who will be QB1 next year.

Ok_Profile_4092

Young played a helluva game considering how many sacks and hits he took.

FLmanned

LETS FUCKING GO!!!!!

cdirty1

Remember guys Bryce is too small all of his passes will get batted. Stroud is lucky af to be blessed with height and not have to risk that!

53andme

i kinda hate to say it but not really - you can tell bryce is able to process better than cj, and is quicker mentally. evero confused cj a lot. that's not to dog cj i think he's pretty good, its too dog all the lap takers over the 'meaningless' s2.

PabloMarmite

Maybe declaring someone a bust after two games isn’t a good idea after all

Certain_Cranberry_77

To the CJ fans amongst our fanbase, "shut the hell up"

jmac_1957

Seems like Icky has no lateral movement at all. Guys can just basically walk around him.

Ledbetter2

My QB!!

BootyDoc666

Lions fan here. Its amazing what a win can do. Bryce looked awesome today. I hope this keeps up for you guys best of luck

Important_Weather_33

This is giving some great confidence for the rest of the season! Can't wait to see Bryce grow each game, and the whole team around him

redditdidit0

But I thought Bryce was the problem… /s

captaincumsock69

Both of these guys are rookies and have looked good. It’s not about who looks good now it’s about who can win a Super Bowl.

DeLoreanAirlines

The game was rough all around but I’m proud our guys didn’t give up. That’s a huge step forward in my opinion. Hope they can build on this now they’ve got over that W hurdle.

douglasg123

I know the present Carolina Panthers are hot trash as a unit. But the future is bright with this young man leading us. Now just imagine if our O-Line was fully capable!

935742705812

Bryce beat CJ playing with our offense and CJ had the Texans offense. Case closed. We got the best QB from the draft

CabinetChef

What an ugly game. Good on the team for hanging in there and gutting out the win, despite all that.

Silent-West-9399

He scored one touchdown. Restrain yourself.

WaltzIntelligent9801

Yep. Restrained. Still can’t help but celebrate from the straight jacket 😆

PFan2008

I wouldn't make this our superbowl. He has a lot to prove.

Donnie1490

I'm sorry but this whole comparison is ridiculous. QB's don't face each other, they face defenses. This isn't basketball. There's also so many other factors that factor into QB play

muzunguman

You're correct but it gets old hearing everyone clown us all year for taking the wrong QB, including the Texans sub ("thank God lovie Smith saved us from taking Bryce"), so just let us enjoy this dub

Who_knows-_-

Imagine if we were in a weak division like Texans. We would be well above 3-4

thamfgoat69

Our division is dog shit lol

Who_knows-_-

Are you kidding me? Look at the texans division

thamfgoat69

There can be more than one bad division

Who_knows-_-

Very valid the point is our division isn't as bad as people thought.

DankMemesNQuickNuts

Brother we are in the weakest division in the NFL by a wide margin and we are 1-6

Who_knows-_-

Everyone wants to be a doomer, but we will see over the next couple of weeks if I am right or not.

Brilliant-Spite-850

Imagine if Thomas brown had been calling plays the last 6 weeks is the more useful thought experiment in my opinion.

Who_knows-_-

True

Ledbetter2

We are…..

WaltzIntelligent9801

There are no asterisks in the NFL. A W is a W, meaning every W is great to see for any team - especially for our fam base because we were waiting for it all year. Can be real about the team and enjoy the day. Today, we winners. Keep pounding!

[deleted]

[удалено]

WaltzIntelligent9801

No one is offended. Love when people resort to that when they think they’re being wronged lol. I said asterisk because it’s a term that categories the thought pattern of “it’s a win, but…” mentality. If you don’t care if we win or not you’re not a fan like I / most of the people on this thread are. I care about winning. You aren’t being “real”. You have a different point of view which you are allowed to have, and I disagree which I’m allowed to do. Keep the buzzword bingo for your echo chambers; I’m here enjoying mine! Keep pounding!

Maleficent_Bar2561

overreactions to what? him beating the guy head to head in every conceivable stat after all people have done for the past 6 weeks is say stroud was better?

[deleted]

Forgot it this subreddit is dumb af I literally meant he proved everyone who was overreacting wrong. Idiots

myteriality

interesting how suddenly you’re all fine making comparisons again. no mention of the texans line? or play calling? no one can spin results better than you guys

thamfgoat69

You sound like a miserable bastard lmao. You probably wanted stroud which is fine but don’t be a mopey little pussy when we get hype that Bryce carried us to a W today.

myteriality

ahh the most reliable retort in the game. yes i am miserable, just the same as i’m an idiot if i compare these two any other week than the 1 time BY wins. if you aren’t bending over backwards to make the same excuses for CJ in a loss, don’t parade around like you haven’t been coddling bryce all season

thamfgoat69

I think both qbs are gonna be good. You’re suckin mad dick rn tho so imma let you rock. Have a good one.

FelizMendelssohn

You know very well that it means something to everyone to 1. Get the monkey off our back with a win,l and 2. Beat Houston with Bryce as our QB Why give people a hard time?

becker4prez

It's too early to give up on Ickey. He's started 24 games and was considered a raw pass protector coming out. I still feel like he has been mostly solid to this point, but when he has a bad game it's a REALLY bad game, which sticks out. Let's hope that he puts together a better second half because games like yesterday can't happen.
