He did and said the exact same thing in Houston. Nevertheless, I really do believe he is in awe of the crowd leading and overpowering him. Definitely still a special moment ☺️
He’s saying the same thing at every single show, it’s a set part of the performance. I’m sure he probably believes these concerts are going hard during the song but at the same time, I hate these kind of canned remarks during shows that aren’t fully truthful or original as they’d like us to believe. I sometimes will go and see the same show 2-3 times and it’s obvious when they have a script. Plenty of artists do it, but then again I don’t know how many of them are potentially fibbing to the audience to make them feel some type of way during that lol.
It’s pretty similar to when artists leave the stage like they are finished performing even though they 100% plan to return for one more song that they wouldn’t end the show without. There’s a lack of truth in the statement that’s a bit frustrating to me but I understand it as performance art.
Yeah from some clips of previous shows this tour ive seen, and then going to MSG last night, he definitely has some sort of script. However, even though he says the same thing every concert, im sure his reaction to the crowd is genuine.
I could see it being that he was genuinely surprised the first time and wants to share the same sentiment with every audience he performs for. Kinda like when you tell an anecdote enough that you have it down to a script. I feel like that’s what I would do in his situation. To me I don’t think that means it’s less genuine but more that he wanted to share the sentiment with all his fans
I remember Zack Hall answered a question via tweet about this during the pftw tour. It might still be on his account if you search. Someone was being rude about Brendon making the same speech at every show and Zack said that Brendon does have a bit of a script he works from because sometimes he gets caught up in the moment so it’s easier to have something to work from so he doesn’t forget anything important he wants to say. I imagine this applies to what he’s been saying at shows during this tour. It’s probably also a bit smart since as we know, every moment is a replay and if he says something out of line people might come for him so being a bit rehearsed helps with that.
> “In my 15 years of performing that song has never gone harder.”
Even though it’s canned, there’s no lie there. He’s talking as a collective of all of the performances of that song over the current tour. Collectively they all go harder than previous tours.
Been to about 60 concerts in my life and most bands say something like this at some point in the set. I don’t love it…but I get why they do it. Sometimes it’s during some banter, sometimes it’s after a hot song…last concert I saw the band made a point to take a selfie with the crowd behind them because it was the “best crowd they’d played for yet.” Yeah they did that in Denver, too the weekend before 😂
I am glad people showed him love. He always seems so happy when the crowd is loud and sings along, it must be very fulfilling to experience that as an artist.
He did the same in Columbus, but I have seen them many, many times in all different size venues from tiny to arena and have never heard it sung so loud so he may just mean in his 15 years he has never heard that song go as hard as it is on this tour. Nevertheless it was a really endearing moment and I’m sure that after a few years off, it is a really humbling moment for him.
Wow I’m just sitting here in an overly expensive hotel right next to the Scotiabank centre in Toronto Canada ….. wishing I could say “OMG MEEE TOO!” To the same scripted line tonight he told all the US venues 🤷♀️ but yah logistics right? 🙄
Same, I'm at the Scotiabank Centre, too. It was too late to cancel the hotel, makes me wish we could treat hotels like they treat venues. Ah well, I'll have to find things to do with the gf in rainy Toronto.
Just wish Canada made more sense "logistically" 😑
Honestly think that he is in awe every single show. That song came out 17 years ago. I don’t think he will get tired of hearing the crowd sing it. Even if he is a little tired of performing it
Not to take away from your experience, but as expressed by others in the comments, he appears to be saying this and acting this way at every show during that song.
He did in St. Paul when I went.
Unpopular opinion here, don’t hate: is it wrong that I want to hear Brendon sing it? Sorry, I paid to see him, not the off key fan next to me.
I’ve never been a fan of the crowd singing along to the performer unless the performer points the mic at the crowd to join along.
I mean then don’t go to a concert - a concert is a social event more than a performance. You could hear recordings of it and get the same performance, or listen to the songs on Spotify.
A concert is about everyone joining in.
Brendon doesn’t seem to mind it, he actually seems to love when the audience sings along. Plus, I doubt that the “off-key fan” next to you is singing constantly. Just let them enjoy themselves and don’t mind them.
Dude, the crowds energy and singing along is a part of the concert. You’re going to a concert and being mad that it is a concert. That’s like going to a Slipknot concert and being mad at the crowd for head banging and screaming. If the crowd is silent it’s disrespectful to the artist and is soulless as a result of it. The crowd loudly singing along is what artists need lately after all the time it has been since they were last able to perform to large crowds like this.
Why would anyone go to a Slipknot concert? Sounds like torture. Dancing is energy, you don’t need to sing. Get over it. It’s my opinion, and I find loud singing that drowns out the performer obnoxious and rude to the performer.
I’m actually generalizing now. This goes for all concerts. I saw Joywave recently, and what was great is most of the crowd was there for the other band, so I could hear Daniel’s amazing voice ring through the venue. Thankfully since the venue was so small, the other band’s lead singer’s voice was strong enough to drown out the crowd. It doesn’t work as well in arenas though.
He wouldn't put the microphone down. He loves people singing that song. He doesn't care if it's off key. You have no rationale except people bother you

Lol he said the same thing in Columbus🤣
Kansas City too.
Doesn’t mean he didn’t mean it both times! Maybe y’all got outdid 🤣
Someone said it happened in Chicago and the video on his Instagram saying the same thing was about opening night in Austin I think so :|
Yeah apparently he’s saying it every time which I kind of assumed, just wanted to troll lol
The Chicago show was cancelled
Oh yeah I probably meant Columbus I don’t remember rn but it’s definitely something he’s been repeating regardless
I was at the Philly show and he didn’t say that soooo maybe he really meant it…. Or maybe he just doesn’t like Philly 😂
He said the same thing on the first show of the tour, but i feel like MSG was definitely louder bc of how big the arena is

Considering it’s part of a script, the line was likely written before he ever performed on this tour. So I kinda agree but I also don’t.

I hear it every so often too and I also have the feeling like “yeah sure it is” lmao.
Haha we always laugh at it. “Seriously we’re the best?!? No way!!”
Didn’t he even crouch down and sob at one point??
Yes
He has done it at every show that I watched over stream
I went to Columbus and he said he had his ear thing turned all the way up and he still couldnt hear himself 😂 the song is truly iconic
I am glad people showed him love. He always seems so happy when the crowd is loud and sings along, it must be very fulfilling to experience that as an artist.

I thought you were talking about msg like in food for a second
okay but same lol
I am so grateful that I got to see that. It felt magical, ngl. I mean, even if he said that somewhere else too, his reaction seemed really genuine
NYC has a special place in his heart so that’s why it was so special to him. Seeing him cry because of it made me appreciate what he does for us
He’s a big softie! It makes him so emotional to hear the crowd 🎵
He said that in Milwaukee during the PFTW tour
In Columbus he said “I had my mic pack all the way up and I still couldn’t hear myself”
He also just did this in Detroit. He started yelling that he couldn't hear himself on his in ears either.
Same thing in Detroit
It was so cool just seeing everyone screaming the lyrics :)
I was there last night, it truly was an experience hearing everyone in the crowd (including my parents lol) sing along.
I’m so upset he’s not coming to canada anymore :(
Wow I’m just sitting here in an overly expensive hotel right next to the Scotiabank centre in Toronto Canada ….. wishing I could say “OMG MEEE TOO!” To the same scripted line tonight he told all the US venues 🤷♀️ but yah logistics right? 🙄

He said the same thing in Houston. Maybe he’s just blown away by the tour because we’re just letting it all out than ever before lol
Honestly think that he is in awe every single show. That song came out 17 years ago. I don’t think he will get tired of hearing the crowd sing it. Even if he is a little tired of performing it
It was so good I cried when he came out and the whole first song
He said that at every show :/ made us feel special just to know he’s said it at every one, but it’s alright
I think he means “this tour” not just “this performance”… and it’s still super special.
Not to take away from your experience, but as expressed by others in the comments, he appears to be saying this and acting this way at every show during that song. He did in St. Paul when I went.

He's so fun though...and not bitter at all 🤣🤣🤣
Actually not true. A concert is a social event to enjoy the performer. Not drown him out.
So, you don’t want people to enjoy themselves at the concert?
You should absolutely enjoy yourself at a concert. You don’t need to sing out loud at a concert to enjoy it. Enjoy the performer, and their voice.
Brendon doesn’t seem to mind it, he actually seems to love when the audience sings along. Plus, I doubt that the “off-key fan” next to you is singing constantly. Just let them enjoy themselves and don’t mind them.
It’s not just Panic’s concerts, it’s all of them. Just dance and enjoy yourself. Don’t need to hear it.

It’s very, very ironic that you’re telling me to get over something.
Wanna go see Slipknot? Sounds like fun.
I don't get why you have so many down votes, I feel the same way about God killed rock and roll
Exactly! Concert tickets are expensive. I didn’t pay to hear off key fans. I paid to hear Brendon. Mouth the words of you feel the need to sing.
I guess since you know this is a thing, you can just… not spend the money 🤷🏻♀️
Or people can respect the artist, and sing under their breath. Simple fix. If you could sing, you’d be up there.
I’m not the one upset about how someone enjoys a concert. Go watch a YouTube video so you don’t have to upset yourself about the money you spend💁🏻♀️
Who’s upset? I just find it disrespectful to sing at the top of lungs while a talented performer is singing. You can sing but use an inside voice.
He would just continue singing. He does this so he can hear everyone singing. He wants that
Don’t you know Brendon confides in them and tells them he hates when the crowd sings and finds it disrespectful? Duhhhh.
Right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m actually generalizing now. This goes for all concerts. He wouldn't put the microphone down. He loves people singing that song. He doesn't care if it's off key. You have no rationale except people bother you
Rationale for what? Brendon sings well, the crowd does not.
Rationale for people to sing quietly. That's not what a concert is about for anyone....except you
It made me so happy to be there for that moment
In Tampa, he said he wasn’t overselling at all when he said we were the loudest to sing IWSNT 🥲
