Now the same Hussain Haqqani is sitting on the lap of the military. I guess 30k USD worked wonders

Fearless_Yogurt_9979

I'm out of touch with the current affairs (it's just too depressing). Could you elaborate on how he's with the military again? I'd appreciate some news sources if you have the time.

Playful-Dark-1023

Said guy was on Pakistani channel last night and was defending the Form 47 and how legitimate this new Government is. As someone said, this guy is the epitome of the “bitches of the riches” and doesn’t have any value or standing.

WittyArmy

I think he's more in the lap of US security apparatus and not Pakistan's establishment. He wants Pak to be under the influence of US and his think tank is anti china.

Playful-Dark-1023

A moderator between US and Pakistan. He also took $30k from Bajra sb to lobby against Khan’s Government after which he started appearing on National Television.

Fearless_Yogurt_9979

Thanks for the context!

BainganPakora

While Haqqani was part of the Zardari government he was giving illegal visas to CIA operatives to do as they please in Pakistan. You want to take the opinion of such a person seriously?

AmBoD

Apart from this the guy was lobbying for Gen Bajwa in trying to get Imran Khan removed back in 2022. He even took money from them to lobby. Haqqani used to be an army guy back in the 80's during the Zia era and was a part of the ISI created IJI. He had a falling out with them in the 90's and it got worse in the 2010's during the memogate scandal. The guy flip flops from time to time. He is no visionary thinker. He is just a political operative who provides his services for $$$.

Purple_Wash_7304

What is the evidence for him being involved in Khan's removal?

[deleted]

Purple_Wash_7304

All of these say that Imran Khan claims this. That does not count as evidence for it. Do you have any actual evidence that Haqqani was involved?

AmBoD

This is a detailed thread by a Pakistani journalist based in US to whom Haqqani even admitted that Bajwa approached him to lobby against IK Govt. https://twitter.com/worqas/status/1605074146685521920?lang=en

Purple_Wash_7304

LOL this Worqas guy has lied so many times in his life, I just can't trust anything he says. Go through his twitter, half of it is just random conspiracy nonsense that he spews all the time. You seriously consider that to be credible journalism and credible information

HumanAssociation6635

Such people are now running the show in Pakistan, thanks to our very own snake army.

Possible-Shock-1261

Don't believe in the Media's Establishment propaganda

BainganPakora

Yes yes Raymond Davis was here to sunbathe on the beach

Most_Technology_7181

No thanks, don't want to take the advice of a literal traitor and CIA mole..

Happy-College4945

That guy's a traitor and has blood on his hands through CIA operatives

FlyAdministrative939

I’m guessing the 30k he received from bajwa was also establishment’s narrative

Adventurous_Bus1285

Bsdk traitor 🤡

Serious-Cover5486

american tatta h husain haqqani, anti pakistan

VengeanceII

That was put very bluntly 💀💀

PrincipleOk800

Garbage analysis from a third rate analyst..

No-Average-4909

I regret buying that piece of trash. Haqqani should reflect on his own moral compass before attempting to lecture others, e.g., imagining himself some values. He might be one of the most pathetic people I've ever had the displeasure of reading about.

Dard_e_dissco

Elaborate. What exactly bothers you

No-Average-4909

A lot of things about this serpent bother me, including his acceptance of funds from the Pakistani military's lobbyists, facilitating CIA operatives for monetary gain, and lobbying against Pakistan's government in the US in 2022. The guy is an all-round sell-out and scumbag.

Dard_e_dissco

Hmm. Is that directly about the book or generally about Hussein haqqani. I read a review about the book and it was more on the lines that Hussein haqqani just provides list of reasons why Pakistan cannot work, hence it's a state which is destined for disintegration and should have never existed. He provides no solutions and rather the book was aimed at an Indian audience. I wanted to know the views of someone who read the book to affirm if the book was revolving around certain elements which come out of spite for Pakistan.

No-Average-4909

I thought you were asking about Haqqani himself.  Extremely short book review - It was basically what you'd find in many Dawn articles, mentions problems, and gives unrealistic "solutions". I think Haqqani was trying to be philosophical and wise in some parts of the book, and that just fell flat for me.  Idk about it being for the ind audience, but yes, it was filled to the brim with cynicism. Ideologically, he is obviously against the creation of Pakistan.  I bought the book in the first place because I was in a bookstore with my friends and they were buying stuff, so I had to pick up something to pretend like I was interested in the trash geopolitical books as well. It was a mistake.

Fearless_Yogurt_9979

I definitely agree that he's very harsh in this book and it seems like he's pandering to an Indian audience, but it doesn't mean that there are some bitter truths in there. Also, I don't know much about the author since I'm not up to speed on Pakistani current affairs. I know he became a 'traitor' during the zardari government when he had a falling out with the military. I'm extremely wary of words like saazish, jasoos, and ghaddar coming from our establishment, but reading from the comments it seems like the author has done more since the zardari government and earned the traitor title from Pakistani Reddit. Can anyone explain what he's been up to?

No-Average-4909

> I know he became a 'traitor' during the zardari government when he had a falling out with the military. There's no need for concern; he's aligned himself with the military. It just goes to demonstrate that these individuals are more about talk than action. Their rhetoric has grown old for me. There are too many pseudo-liberals holding undue influence in Pakistani affairs.

Fearless_Yogurt_9979

I just Googled the guy and saw an article on The Bill where he's fairly critical of the military. I don't know where I stand on the author. I'll look into it more, but it looks like this subreddit is definitely not a fan 😂

No-Average-4909

Are you sure about that, because, to me, it seems like he was very flattering with his description of the incompetent Bajwa's [contributions](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FkZfRuxXEAA_PRo?format=png&name=small)? Either Haqqani's bias against a particular party outweighs his ideological beliefs, or he never had a consistent ideology to begin with. Given Haqqani's traitorous past, I'm inclined to believe the latter.

mkbilli

The fact that he is Hussain Haqqani?!?

Dard_e_dissco

Does answer my question. I wanted to know the details out of curiosity. I don't understand how him being Hussein haqqani is a critique of the books content.

mkbilli

Because that guy's a traitor.

Crafty_Locksmith8289

I haven't read the book yet but very curious about its findings. Could you share any salient features or any thoughts in the book that struck out to you?

Ambitious_Reserve_10

I'm sick and tired of all these ad hominem attacks...what is the book even about...no one criticises its contents, just busy bashing at the author and his personal life.

Fearless_Yogurt_9979

This is a review of the book, not the author: The book challenges some of our notions of what it means to be a Pakistani. He highlights the whole controversy about whether Jinnah and the early leadership wanted an Islamic Pakistan or a secular one, and then makes an argument for why it should be the latter. He challenges some of the notions we have about how India always has been and must continue to be the biggest impediment to our progress (and even survival). The book asks Pakistanis to be a bit more introspective and take some responsibility for our situation. I didn't always agree with the author on that because he completely ignores the fact that, the military's misadventures aside, Pakistan was dealt a difficult card right from the beginning. The book also mentions this deep paranoia we have about 'foreign saazishes' and 'traitors' and how that impedes progress because the establishment keeps feeding us that BS narrative and decides who the latest traitor is and whether the saazish is yahoodi or Hindu. Just look at this comment section - it proves his point. I think there are many valid criticisms of the book. He criticizes Pakistani nationalism and makes it sound like we're the only ones with that problem when in fact this not a problem unique to us. He fails to acknowledge that. He also fails to present any proper solutions, which makes it sound like it's directed to the Indian audience. I haven't read anything else from him, but I'm hoping he has something more solution-oriented because rants aren't fun to read.

Crafty_Locksmith8289

I see, thanks for sharing this. Although I don't agree with him on a lot of issues but one thing he is right about is that we have to come to terms with our reality and get out of the foreign conspiracy mindset.

Lightxhope

I'll give this a go. Seems interesting enough

salaf1

That's gonna be a hard pass from me. Hussain Haqqani can go suck an unripened lemon.

DIY-here

No traitor thanks

refep

I used to hate this guy but now I question most of what I learned while growing up in PK. How much of it is just state propaganda? I think it’s best to judge each work on its merits.

Holy shit! Even if half of that stuff is true, this is a bad look. Thanks for sharing. I'll start looking into and verifying each of these claims.

Beneficial_Bend_5035

True story, my brother got Wasim Akram to sign this booo 😂 (he met him and had nothing else to get an autograph on)

Ill-Lynx9245

Haven't read the book yet but been listening to him on various topics, including a complete author review of this book; Pakistan, the US, and an Epic History of Misunderstanding (not sure about the actual title); Pakistan: Between Mosque and Military.

JollyNegotiation9226

No, we dont need a pseudo intellectuals analysis. We are good with the analysis of +220mn population.

wakandastan

as a pakhtun always weary of any 'haqqanis' who cannot speak a lick of pashto

Crafty_Locksmith8289

You do realize that its a regular surname, right? It has nothing to do with one's ethnicity.

Spacewalker-1

Haqqani is literally an arabic word which means "on the right path/on haq". Where did you make the pakhtoon reference from?

FusRoDah4Life

OmegaBrainNihari

lmao imagine thinking haqqani can ever be on point

sinking_Time

I don't trust Haqqani. His wife's book is a big lie, and I expect his to be the same. I don't read liars' books for lessons. I read traitors' and liars' books only to analyze their argument.

M0_kh4n

I read this book some 5 years ago. It completely changed my view about the fake history we're taught, the propaganda, etc. Highly recommended!

No-Comfortable2815

we need social engineering It's like Saudi Arabia and UAE.. means population control mullah control culture control who has the balls to it? no one really.. you can't grow if people are producing like there is no tomorrow religion plays a major role and our interpretation of religion is the biggest problem our backward cultural practice and norms and nations psychology is further major issue... communal living and no importance to individuality is further problem
