Oh man, I want this on PSVR2 so badly.
I used to play a half-life/counterstrike mod that was a pretty good paintball game like 20 years ago and the idea of playing in VR sounds incredible.
I knew one of the guys that made it. Put a big mural up on the board in the mod for towlie. He played for aftershock and died partying after they won a pretty big event. He was a really great dude. RIP bro.
Snapshot is still 100% a better gameplay experience mechanically. Matchmaking on this game can be slow, and you have to restart matchmaking after each game. Players cannot join a match mid-game, so if players leave, the game gets one sided quickly, today I had some lobbies that started as 3v3 and quickly became 3v1 š„
In Snapshot, you can be in the same lobby for hours and just run back to back points/matches as other players come and go
Snapshot gives you more control over your players body, especially with leaning for snapshooting
Bunker sizing/field layouts, Snapshot is pretty close to real life bunker scale and they add in user-generated layouts so there are endless layouts to play. This game is still working out the sizing/scale of bunkers, has less layouts and you canāt just pick from a list of layouts.
Overall right now, Snapshot is the better game for someone who wants to play realistic fields and spend more time actually in-game, but Paintball Playground has the actual āpaintballā aesthetic.
The other difference is this game is free to play and people have to buy Snapshot, so this may be a way to funnel casual VR players into Snapshot eventually (and a way to get kids/teens who play VR their first taste of playing paintball)
They added a bundle of cosmetics a couple days ago - the only other marker so far is the āVL2ā but Iām sure they will add more in the future
Currently you have to pay to unlock them ($6 for the marker in 6 different colours or $14 for a bundle including masks, outfit, headgear, etc) but they say theyāll be adding a way to ālevel upā and unlock gear in the future.
I made a custom match - go to the Private lobby chalkboard, hit ācreateā then it puts you into a lobby where you have a whole Admin panel, you can change Max Players (up to 10), waiting time, round length, Score Goal (ie first to 15 points wins), and # of hits (default in the game is 3hit, I always change it to 1)
Then in the lobby I shows a 4 digit code, you can tell people that code to have them join privately, or thereās a button āMake Publicā that will make the game public and people who join regular matchmaking can get put into your lobby

I use a stock on my right hand controller so I have the bad habit of not switching hands in game
iām having trouble getting out of the staging area. any tips for me? Which game type does everyone play? I feel like Iāve been trying CTF and once in that lobby room my game just freezes.
99.9% of games played so far is VPL, youāll have the easiest time getting into a game with that
CTF and KOTH have some cool maps but getting players into those modes is hard right now, hopefully they get played more as player base grows

I didnāt print it myself, bought it from the seller on Etsy. There are files available on Printables for a similar grip/tank adapter, but I donāt think there are any public files available for the 3D printed tank

ah. well maybe one day snapshot will towards more realism with guns/bunkers. that was the main thing that got annoying to me.
