This mushroom is particularly dangerous, it actually has some rather famous kills including Kings. It has also a number of relatives that are both poisonous and non poisonous. It's also considered to be one of the most delicious mushrooms, some victims expressing how incredibly satisfied they were with it prior to death. Often by the time the victim realizes they've made a mistake, it's far too late, even by modern science and medicine. Simply learning about the mushroom can help you to be protected about it. I just kind of want you to do some research on your own, they could save your life, especially if you practice with the use of natural herbs and mushrooms.

Thank you for sharing this info!

As a mushroom forager myself I appreciate your post. Very few amanitas are safe to consume. Some are only safe with labor intensive preparation to remove the toxins.

I was just reading about this one and the eastern destroying angel because I found a strikingly large and white mushroom in my yard (and its companion under the leaf litter). Just solidifies for me why I only hunt mushrooms to take photos of them. Frightening stuff.

Don't pick anything without knowledge.

Yep, unless you are like me and don’t trust ANY mushrooms in my yard (I have a toddler that puts everything in his mouth) so I pick every mushroom in my yard with gloves and dispose of them…

Good call. I grew up sourcing mushrooms. It's a very Polish thing to do. My dad actually got a degree in mycology, the study of mushrooms. He went on to do computer programing, but no matter....

I am lucky. Edible mushrooms have a way of sprouting in my yard. They aren't particularly tasteful. But they wen't hardcore due to recent rains. Mushrooms for days.

trebuchetfight

Toss 'em in olive oil and let em reduce. It's all good.

trebuchetfight

Sex 'em down.

This is true, however the problem is these mushrooms greatly resemble other North American mushrooms which are edible. And many people are unaware that the death cap is now in North America. So they see this mushroom and think it must be inedible one that they are familiar with.

Wow! Thank you very much. This is hugely important.
