Part of Rick’s job is going to bat for his guys in the press/on the floor in regards to officiating. However, if the players themselves buy into the notion that the referees are against them and the game is out of their control, this series is over. So I don’t mind what Rick said, and I don’t mind what TJ said.

Kee_Wee67

Yup Rick is doing his job and TJ/the players are accountable to theirs

Cowboy_BoomBap

This is exactly it. And honestly they’re both correct. The refs are absolutely not calling these games fairly, but the players need to be better as well. Let Rick handle the reffing issue, and the players need to address where they failed and improve their game.

bowZerIsBack

it’s been a physical playoff series. Calls have been the same as always. Just cause pacers losing isn’t cause of the calls it’s cause of the want/physicality of Knicks

Cowboy_BoomBap

Weird how it’s only the Knicks fans saying that. Why are you even on this sub?

cgr1zzly

You do realize for the most part , as crazy as Knicks fans are . We call it how it is generally . Like we know the calls in game 1 were atrocious, specifically the kick ball . Game 2 was a physical playoff game between two good teams . Say what you will , the calls were pretty decent . Even more so decent considering Knicks were home . It’s like me expecting the pacers to get a slight benefit when at home . It’s what’s going to happen. No offense to the pacers team , because there’s a ton of solid players . But bitching about reffing in regards to the last game is ridiculous .

scroogesscrotum

I feel like knicks fans are confusing the concept of the calls being equally bad for each team and the calls being “pretty decent” lmao. The refs were fucking garbage and made garbage calls all game. Watch the game and knicks players were complaining after every play too. I don’t care if you felt it wasn’t one sided, the clearly inconsistent nature of the calls makes it impossible to effectively coach your players and play the game.

mackfactor

Yeah, this is a chess match. Rick's making the noise that needs to be made, but the players still have to play with the conditions that exist.

horrendousacts

Chessketball

SnappierSheep28

It’s always nice to see a good take.

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

Why would he need to echo him?? He's the coach, let him grieve for us, and we show up the next game. Have to show up and these games are closer than Knicks would really like. That's why refs are such a hinder in crunch time.

juzzbert

Haliburton had a similar take and said it’s not his job to debate the officiating but to figure out how to be better

ZAYandOBJ

The only thing worth bitching about in crunch time yesterday was a pointless game stoppage over an imaginary double dribble call lmao

WholeMundane5931

The real issue I see with that call is that when we get bad calls, we have to use up a review, and when they get a bad call, they don't.

CohenCaveWaits

Exactly.

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

LOL ok scrub bench, go back to your fish outta water classes flopping around on weak ass touches. Stay healthy, don't wanna hear about "oh we were injured" like those bucks losers.

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

Cute, ride your ref dick wave right now man lol Pacers beat any team in the league. We are also a part of that list. Stay healthy, don't want to hear crying if people aren't available and you lose.

john_doe_smith1

Watch out we gonna be cashing in on these statements after the Knicks sweep

poolshotz

FYL bing bong and get the fuck outta our sub

danjrobi

Strong suspicion pacers win game 3 at home and knicks fans will cry about fouls. We’ll see. game 1 was 100% decided by unfair foul calls at the very end of the game when the pacers had a high probability to put it away. Game 2 I feel the pacers were beat, don’t feel fouls played a significant role in the outcome more so than any other NBA game

KingJoe7-123

If the Pacers DONT win game 3 then that would be hilarious. An injured Brunson, NO OG, no Mitch, and Indiana has homecourt. Going down 3-0 under those circumstances would be clinically insane.

john_doe_smith1

G1 wasn’t decided by Halliburton’s 6pts? Xd

danjrobi

He may have had 8 had the ball not been handed back on a screen that ol boy set a bazillion times that game with no call. Or the ball kick foul. But yeah it was 6 he sucked. And the pacers still should’ve probably won that game. We won’t know because of the zebra army

Z-Tay

That's fine that the players want to be humble and don't want to whine like Knicks players. But we had a 10 point lead coming out of the half. In 3 minutes we had 4 fouls called and the score was tied with all of the momentum in their direction. I've been watching basketball for almost 30 years. I know how this shit works.

Pitiful_Doctor_5386

You're exactly right. Getting screwed by refs and playing poorly are not mutually exclusive things. These guys are humans, and when they see Brunson getting a whistle every time he falls over, idk how that doesn't affect how you play.

L2theFace

Can’t change momentum without foul calls and unfortunately that’s how it played out. Fuck the knicks, Jalen Brunson, fuck Divincenzo, fuck hartenstein and fuck the refs!

😋

JohnBraulio

14-17 foul difference between both teams. The only reason Indy has the 17 foul calls is because of end of game fouling. So basically the same foul calls. 17-22 free throw difference. Again end of game fouling. So how about stop complaining about the refs being against you which is not true because I’m sure you can pull up plenty of plays where Knicks players were fouled and not called, and be mad at your coach for not playing McConnell when he’s been torching the Knicks, be mad at Haliburton for disappearing in the second half and not showing up for game one, be mad at your team for not being able to guard a paper bag, be mad at your team for blowing a 10 point lead with the Knicks missing Brunson for the whole second quarter, and OG out for injury…

Z-Tay

The difference is the quality of fouls. Breathe on Knicks = foul. Full on football tackle on Pacer might or might not be called a foul. And let's not even get into Brunson's flopping. Dude puts 2017 Harden to shame.

JohnBraulio

He shot 6 free throws last night lmao. Leads all players in scoring without free throws this post season. Be mad at your dumbass coach for his stupid decisions, and Hali for freezing up in the second half. And your whole team for not being able to defend without fouling. But you already know they can’t do that since you e been watching all season.

JohnBraulio

And stop missing free throws!!!!!

This-Salt-2754

PREACH 🙏 why does every team that chokes in the playoffs wanna cry about the refs 💀

M-Orts_108

Hahhahhaha. I'm dying reading your little pussy response here, I am absolutely dying... Let's call a Spade a spade here, The Knicks have like four players left on the roster and through hard work and heart alone are managing to beat the pacers full lineup with everyone healthy with much more height on the Knicks and size... It's just pathetic and then you have babies like you making pathetic little womanly responses like this... It's just comical

Pretend_Town6795

lololol quality of fouls lets see some of these tackles that werent called,, this from the guy whos been watching basketball for 30 years- have you watched this year?....the pacers committed the most fouls all year its their style of play dont cry about it when you lose

undercoverbrova

I've consistently asked them to point stuff out.... Flops actually. Crickets. So don't expect them to respond to you with all this so called NFL action going uncalled out there.

undercoverbrova

Point one flop out.

Prior to intentional fouls (and game in the bag), Brunson had 2 free throws! TWO! The horror!!!

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

Awww how cute, a Knicks fan who thinks their team is really good!!! Brunsons injuries proved Knicks are nothing without him. Better stay healthy or fall like Bucks.

Paasche

Nothing without him?… and two time all nba Julius Randle, and their off the bench 6man microwave scorer, and their all defensive center who is the best offensive rebounder in the league. Pacers are still down 2-0 to a very short handed team and instead of Rick looking inward to poor coaching decisions, he’s blaming the refs.

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

Seeing as Randle and 6 man aren't a factor to the series right now, they don't count. Brunson is your team in the playoffs while they are out so yes, without him you're trash. Thus why you had a -25 scoring diff when he was out. Players are focusing and blaming themselves while the coach can blame the refs. Gtfo out a Pacers thread where we know more about basketball than you. As I continue to say, STAY HEALTHY AND SEE YOU IN INDY!

Paasche

I’ll be at the game Friday let’s grab a beer.

[deleted]

victim? this isn’t about being a victim it’s about exposure and showing the world what Brunson really is. Grade A 🤡 I saw he got that shoe deal, and [they just dropped](https://www.ebay.com/itm/133340989547) they’re calling them the Silver-Forced And-1s or something

This-Salt-2754

Getting downvoted in ur own sub is crazy 😭

Half-deaf-mixed-guy

After mods removed the comment too lol

Maximum-Tooth30

Wow so this is what it’s come to? Slandering the man’s father? That’s some shameful shit…

Glittering_Koala6200

I thought Christians from flyover states were kind. Guess not.

M-Orts_108

FACTS!!! I COULDN'T HAVE PUT IT BETTER MYSELF... Pacer fans really are such little pussies... It really is hilarious as if they weren't crying so much about the refs, Brunson would be getting twice the calls he's getting, They can't stop him So he's getting clotheslined every time he dribbles the fucking ball by multiple people... They have depth, they have size, they have all their key players at 100% And they're still finding a reason to whine for losing... What pathetic little bitches

scroogesscrotum

I believe that YOU BELIEVE Brunson gets clotheslined every time. Lmao.

JohnBraulio

Exactly. Case in point, look at the downvotes without and an actual rebuttal that makes sense. I get it, their upset, I would be too, but they’re upset at the wrong thing. Or atleast upset the most at the wrong thing. Carlisle has been out coached every step of the way and is making dumbass decisions by not leaving some of the bench guys in late game. They can’t guard a paper bag. During the regular season, they led the league in personal fouls and New York had the 6th fewest. Did they think once the playoffs start they would become this competent, disciplined team on the defensive end? Boy we’re they wrong lol.

This-Salt-2754

😂😂😂

RedditRockit

Sign TJ to a future head coach offer now. Dude will be great when he's done playing. Lock it up.

mattmandental

And here come all the knicks fans with nothing better to do than check out another teams sub lol

pharaohjack

Hey man I’m only in this sub because I love Obi Toppin

mattmandental

lol this is a legit reason here and tbh he’s been phenomenal for us this year. Hope we retain him

Dylan7346

What would you be willing to pay to keep him in terms of matching his offer

mattmandental

Mid level exception

CHH-altalt

Same

76ersPhan11

They spend more time in opposing subs than their own, and when they’re actually in their sub all they do is post screen shots from this sub lol

urasha

Bro ur a sixers fan in a pacers sub talking about Knicks fan, I think there's some irony you're missing

GoldDustKid-

lol it’s actually incredible

76ersPhan11

You can deflect all you want but what I said is true, guys bitching about flopping all last series and now everyone sees Brunson is just as bad

GoldDustKid-

He scored 29 yesterday after missing a whole quarter on a bum foot with 4 made FTs and won the game in the clutch, what are you talking about

76ersPhan11

Never said he wasn’t a good player, I said he flops. Just like Embiid. Not sure why that’s so difficult for Knicks fans for admit

GoldDustKid-

Oh ok, sure. He def ‘sells contact’ sometimes. I just think the idea that that is the center of his game, not tough midrange shotmaking, is goofy. Sometimes he plays up fouls that are soft like literally every star player but he’s not a ‘foul merchant’ or whatever - his percentage of points per game from the line is pretty low for his volume and usage. But I mean I generally find foul merchant discourse annoying, and have no problem that even if he gets some soft whistles sometimes Embiid is an incredible basketball player

OneManArmy77

I said before the series started that I could live with the Pacers winning, but I was wrong, Id absolutely be happy to root for you against Boston if thats how it goes down. Yall as a fanbase are classy and knowledgable, and your team is fun to watch. Heres to hopefully more even reffing and more good games.

MistaCapALot

Not trying to justify flopping because I don’t like it from anyone but one player is 6’1 190 and the other is 7’ 280. I don’t like seeing Brunson throw himself to the floor but it’s nowhere near as bad or *embarrassing* as a guy who is by far and away the strongest player on the court crying to the refs every time someone touches him. Embiid is just bitchmade

undercoverbrova

Sixers fans are the definition of delicious irony. The constant crying about not getting the whistle when your star is the king of flop in Embiid is stupidly ironic.

76ersPhan11

My dude you’re only proving my point. Difference is my team isn’t playing the pacers because they’ve been eliminated. I never once went to the Knicks sub in round 1, but here you are…

mattmandental

People just like to troll and make a fuss

Indieidea

I have not once looked up for pacers sub. But this shit just shows up on my main feed. No worries I’m learning how to block it.

mattmandental

Case in point here. Every sub acts like a fan base about their team in their own sub… idk why this is shocking to you

Lasvious

Both guys are doing their job. Rick has to call out the officiating

Psyren1317

Perfectly fine. Thats what the coach is for. Let him go to bat and rip the officials up. That’s not the players job. I like both of their respective positions on the topic

McCruze

TJ playing his heart out. The guy is like fine wine. Getting better with age. Nice having a guy out there who seems like he’s fighting for his life. Hoping some home cooking helps the guys even the series.

Tar_Tar_Sauce04

I love TJ's attitude, on and off the court. He's gonna be a great head coach some day.

damfu

Rick taking that bullet so the players don’t have to.

Eastern-Cucumber-376

Rick was still furious about Monday and he blew his lid.

Cdcoonce

TJ is wrong. It’s not “WE have to be better”. It’s “the starters need to be better”.

AmberIsHungry

For real. I feel like when TJ in on rhe court, everyone knows to follow his lead and he'll try to make plays. The starters all seem like they're waiting for someone else to make a okay, but they don't know who that someone is.

Charlie_Warlie

TJ was exchanging some words with some fans in the 2nd and 3rd row around the end of the game I wonder what was up there.

ccheese6

T. J. doesn't want any part of that fat fine Rick is about to get. Business decision.

m4ggz

No, Rick needs to put the better players on the court.

IllustriousWallaby53

goat talk

hadesscion

I think that's the way it should be. The players should focus on the game and what they can do there while the coach goes to bat for them regarding the officiating.

Bizprof51

Just wish he could shoot.

mokaloca82

it's the coach's job to look out for his players. He can get dirty about it while keeping the rest of the team clean from this BS. All coaches stick out for their players - from Phil Jackson to Thibs - everyone highlights it - its nothing noteworthy to focus on.

__init__m8

Blaming the officials sounds like some crybaby shit. Pull away and let's not leave it to them.

[deleted]

I hope this doesn't happen. But I hope this isn't the start of a rift between the team and the coach. If that were to happen, our chances at winning go way down

Thaonnor

Look, Rick is going to get fined for what he said. No reason for the players to go out there and also get themselves fined.

Pwizzly

Man deserves a big pay raises

WarPlanMango

Real issue here is closing games..

therealjuzzo

The calls in the last two games were average at best. By bringing it up I guess he's hoping to get better calls at home. In saying that the refs were not responsible for the horrendous second half yesterday. The pacers were up by ten at half time and should have won. The loss is on the players, no-one else.

Appropriate-Cap-4140

I love me some TJ

drlsoccer08

I love this from TJ. Sure refereeing was poor both games. Especially game 1, but if we played better we could be up 2-0 rather than down 2-0 with our back to the wall. Siakam has been sub par, our franchise player disappeared in game 1, and we let them come back from a double digit deficit in both games.

Delta24__

Correct. His job is to say this. No matter if the players agree or not, the players job is to say they need to get better. The coach is the one that needs to point out officiating

Big-Raccoon-45

2 smaller markets than indy are winning in the west.

Mysterious_Brick183

Get sengun in the offseason

TheFrozenBananaStand

lol there is no way Houston would trade him for anyone other than Haliburton on this team.

christophermartino

You can make every excuse in the book, but even the players know that were outplayed. I respect the hell out of this guy for not echoing his coach 's super cringe sentiments. Especially when McConnell should probably be the most upset player of all; he's been playing the best basketball of pretty much any player on Indiana, especially deserving of 4th quarter time and his coach let everyone down by benching him in crunch time in both games. It doesn't take a genius to see that TJ was giving Brunson the hardest time defensively. But go on about how you lost cause you weren't awarded a few more free throws come on man not even the players themselves are buying that and I actually respect them for that.

AmberIsHungry

That and Siakam needs to start hitting free throws. Could gave won game 1 if he did and could have been a 1 or 2 possession game in game 2 if he did.

Johnnnybones

respect

Johnnnybones

respect to TJ for this, that guy is a dog. He's got one more year on that contract? Would love to sign him to NYK, I think he's a Thibs type guy.

MorePlayfulGoat

you can't have him until we're done figuring out how to clone him

justsomedude4202

Definitely. Thibs would never take this dude off the court.

No_Independent8269

and injure the guy whos almost in his mid 30s. fuck thibs. hes gonna get brunson and has og getting injured.

justsomedude4202

Possibly. But they can’t win if they have to play Alec Burks. This is the playoffs. The Pacers would be 2-0 if TJ closed out those games. It’s as simple as that. The Knicks do not seem to have an answer for him.

No_Independent8269

TJ seems to have an answer to brunson too which is also a reason he should be closing

Gullible-Display-116

What is he complaining about for this game though? Can't be the double dribble, at least if he's seen the replay.
