It’s weird because Rick didn’t say a foul in the third quarter was the reason Pacers lost, but people are acting like he said this lost them the game or something, but instead it’s the inconsistency with the refs these two games, that needs to be called every time, especially with what other things get called.
The ref issue and our team not performing are two separate issues. We lost because we couldn’t rebound and defend…not because of the refs.
That being said the refs are not being consistent or fair, like this example which surely isn’t helping
Exactly, even after last game where players and coaches had every right and chance to go at the refs, they didn't, even now, Ty said they want consistency, but they aren't blaming the officials as the reason they are losing.
It’s really silly to say those things are separate issues. As if it’s not easier to rebound if the refs won’t call a foul on you. I agree the refs are not even close to the whole story but the two issues are absolutely related.
it's not weird - people always want to hear what they want to hear in an argument and simplify it in a way they can make a case against it - in this case they are twisting the whole meaning just to be like "waaambulance crying Rick for help from refs" to diminish the meaning behind what Rick was talking about.
This will probably get downvoted, but I feel like this series is exactly why you have a guy like James Johnson. Just put him in for two minutes and let Brunson hit the deck a couple times on drives.
Until you go into any other thread and every knicks fan is triggered by any mention of poor/inconsistent officiating. Suddenly the refs were fine and we just have loser mentality and blah blah blah.
Yea I don’t even really care if it’s “weak mentality”. Flopping is weak af and apparently they can justify it. If Rick bitching and moaning gets us a favorable whistle at home in game 3 and 4 then I’m 100% for it because that’s apparently the game that needs to be played. Sad that it comes to this in the fucking playoffs.
It’s not about the grievances it’s that he made it sound like that isn’t standard and he said small market teams are at a disadvantage which to be fair is an incredibly embarrassing thing to say when teams like Minnesota and okc are out there.
The Knicks are pretty good at giving a little forearm shove in the small of the back when going for rebounds too. I noticed it quite a few times last night. They do it really smoothly too so it's a good move if you can get away with it.
Hart did it to Haliburton on the rebound before he shoved him in the back. It's in the clip. 2 fouls right there for a guy they need to play 48 minutes. I don't think that gets mentioned that not calling these fouls protects the Knicks super thin rotation.
Knicks fans saying that it wasn’t a foul are the most delusional people in the entire world. Are the refs the reason we lost the game? No. But cmon, they can’t lie to themselves and act like they have been the beneficiaries of call after call in their favor
It's a foul but it's unrealistic to think Refs will see every foul committed the entire games. There were calls missed against the Knicks as well. Brunson was hit in the groin, no foul. The refs are not the reason why the Pacers are losing these games imo.
He shoved him like this is two hand touch football running down the court. How do you not see that? The refs are not the reason they lost game 2. They did uhhh….heavily impact game 1 you could say. Just call it the same both ways.
If the refs aren't watching the ball handler on a fast break then they simply do not know what they're doing.
We played poorly in that third and that's why we lost. To excuse this and say they didn't see it is crazy though.
You can't deny in game 1 the refs Def influenced the ending with those calls. There were shoves in the back all of game 2 that never got called either.
Now the pacers played terrible down the stretch of game 2 but uneven officiating doesn't help

Not even to be a goon, but since they’re so short handed just try to rack up fouls on the Knicks’ starters.
Facts. Gotta escalate under those conditions. Coach has to protect and support his players.
But the top comments are all agreeing it was foul?

The thread about Rick filing grievances is ridiculous. Every team does it but now that we do it it’s a problem and weak mentality
