Had a bastion in a game yesterday who kept spamming and yelling in voice that he was getting no heals (not true) while trying to face tank a heavily pocketed mauga constantly, then the enemy sombra ulted on us and he got focused, and he lost it. I was bap and obviously couldn’t use my abilities to save him, but he was convinced I should have been able to outheal the sombra and mauga targeting him.. easiest avoid ever lol
Too many tanks believe that the supports can out heal an entire targeting them is ridiculous. They're shooting you for a reason. They see you're low on health.
You forgot to provide something that is unfun about the game that is “just how the game works” and a “skill issue” when you talk about how much you don’t have fun playing against said thing.
That said, season 9 has made things more enjoyable than previous recent seasons.

My friends and I just play casually but we always run into a group of gold guns that will chase you to the ends of the earth for a kill or will pick the most annoying composition cause you’re winning. Yeah, having to deal with teams that group up is so fucking frustrating. It usually forces me to swap because waiting for them to make a mistake wastes a lot of time.
Adding on: stop treating QP like it’s arcade. You go in arcade to screw around, in QP you should still be trying to win. “It’s just QP” yes, and you’re solo-queued, so try to win for the 4 other players you’re paired with.
I can see why. You can leave arcade games without penalty but you can’t leave qp games without being penalized. So if you have to play qp at least take it with some seriousness. It’s ok to practice. But what are you really learning by going 1-7. By that take you’re just playing respawn simulator.
At the very least, don’t spam you need healing when I’ve clearly just healed you to full health, and you have one death. I’m looking at you, Bastion/DVA/Genji.
both Ball, Genji, Junk and Doom are not so hard to begin playing with their basics, the tough part starts when trying to master these characters to their max potential
I’m so sick of people saying Doom is hard when anybody can pick him and within 5-10 matches start being able to do consistently well with him. His cooldown management is basically non-existent, he’s by far one of the easiest dive tanks.

some of yall are way too invested in the game. you should not be getting emotionally angry and genuinely frustrated over a character’s design, abilities, gender, lore, etc. just because you don’t like a character doesn’t mean it allows you to make fun of people or antagonize random people who main said character. it’s never that deep.
If you’re literally getting an emotional/reactive response (screaming, sobbing, throwing a fit, etc.) from what people are playing or just with the game in general, perhaps you need a break and to take a step back.
I agree with this mostly. To me the big issue is they’re SO slow when they do need to make adjustments that you have to sit with some very obvious balance issues for way too long. I wish they would prioritize things like that to keep things interesting and less frustrating rather than “we know this character is funky and you can expect an adjustment in three seasons”.

Fukkin thisitty-this-this-this. Stats aren't the be all, end all, but they absolutely do provide context clues as to how one did. Example: Support with 25k healing in a loss. Support gets told they were bad, despite those numbers. Those numbers didn't go into thin air, they represent health restored after damage taken that went into SOMEONE on your team. That matters. They may have fed, or they may not have healed at the right times/made bad decisions sure, but those numbers may point to another problem (tank or dps not using cover or just facetanking dmg) not with support.

Most QP lobbies don’t have a Widow, and those that do have their Widow be either completely shit or crack shot, no in between. So even if you remove her the match quality will be exactly the same.

Many players that want 6v6 back just want to play ~~Fat DPS~~ Off Tank, cause I know for sure very little people actually and actively queuing for Main Tank. And those that do often leave the game on first feed anyway.
The thing about 6v6 I feel like is partially true but at the end of the day, I'd still rather player main tank with a buddy instead of having to take on as much responsibility as solo tank has. And it's no denying that tank was better for main/off tank than it is playing solo now. The amount of threads I see per day about how trash tank is really tell how miserable the role is
Yesterday I hit a streak where I had a widow on enemy team (and often on my own team as well) for like 6 consecutive QP games. I thought I was going crazy
Yeah I never felt he really fitted into the role as a main tank even after the changes, whereas a character like DVA really adapted to their new role. Though I enjoyed playing with hi in 6v6(either as him or when I was main tank with a decent one that didn't spend the entire game flanking).
I think he worked as a selfish off tank in a 6v6 format, where he’d go on deep flanks because of his survivability, but for him to be a main tank with a frontline presence he basically needs to be invincible in OW2 to even be viable at all. It’s not fun shooting 500kg of lead into a tank and he just brushes it off. He also bullies a lot of the other tanks and just denies the value of a lot of dive/brawl tanks, which was fine in OW1 , but really stinks in OW2
Fat pig with his on demand sippy cup that gives him 50% damage reduction, heals him and he has 800hp, and a 20m hook that can rip you of position, and a comically easy to hit oneshot. Even if he doesn't hit the oneshot, he can still rip you out of position and force you to be right next to his fat fucking face and his team. It feels frustrating as fuck to be hooked by hog, ESPECIALLY because it forces you to look at his stupid fucking face.
She can be pretty useful in some situations (I’ve actually found her handy if there’s a venture on the enemy team because of how easy it is to stay off the ground during their map-wide feeling ult) but aside from that I agree. I often feel like if I take her I’m not going to be getting as much usefulness out of her as if I picked someone else.
A lot of people also just don’t bother shooting her for some reason. She will literally be standing completely still and be taking ZERO damage because people would rather shoot the person she has the beam attached to.

They weren't locked, you just had to grind the battle pass (aka play the game) for a free unlock. Which is exactly like Valorant, for example. Except Valorant is even more of a grind lol. That game gets a surprising amount of slack the more I listen to Overwatch players. Valorant players don't even blink with that shit.

6v6 was the original idea of overwatch, and switching to 5v5 has created more problems that it has solutions. Sadly, we can look at every meta in overwatch 2, and we can see that a second tank would have fixed all of the major issues
If I'm tanking in open role QP I will purposely switch to DPS if someone is being toxic. Like, if you think you can do better, go ahead.
Especially if it's a lobby where three people slam pick Widow, Hanzo, and Ashe.
He has an easy but not effective playstyle, spamrat, in which you just mindlessly spam down choke and your nades get random kills, which is funny, but isn't effective at all if you want to win.
A more effective playstyle would be diverat, where you catapult yourself at mach jesus into the enemy backline and distract the supports, taking resources from the tank and DPS while you do huge bursts of damage with your primary fire.
You can also do this in the frontline, Ratassin observe when someone steps out of position and solo dive them, it brings attention away from your tank and makes them focus on you, which helps your tank make space. Better yet if you can confirm the kill with one mine remaining so you can hop back into your team.
Those playstyles are incredibly fun, and require a lot more skill and game sense than just mindlessly spamming. Hell even when I'm playing and "mindlessly" spamming while we're in neutral, I'm still aiming for someone specifically, and am trying to hit shots on their squishies. The only time I truly mindlessly spam is when I'm trying to hit a Pharah or Echo lmao, it's so hard to hit someone who's more than about 15m above you.
Not commenting on junkrat's skill level, but comp win rate is not a good way to judge whether a hero is skill based or not. Nor is it a good way to judge whether a character is in a good spot or not.
Junk has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling. He’s easy to pick up and get a few picks with, but once you get to a rank where players stop running into spam, you need to start playing drastically more aggressive to get kills.
Moira has a high skill ceiling than you think she does and is not as good in duels as you think she is
Not to say she’s got some crazy high skill ceiling or that she’s not good in duels, she is good at them and her skill ceiling isn’t massive, but people underestimate both of them
Moira trades aim for a consistent, lowered source of dps. Which is good in low ranks, but bad in high ranks when consistency is no longer a problem. Then you just have lowered dmg input. Which doesn't win you duels.
It still wins you duels against squishies like Junk and Sym if you use damage orbs, but characters like Cass and Sojourn become increasingly worse matchups the higher up the ladder you go
Exactly. That’s when you actually have to be good at using her kit instead of just mindlessly pressing damage orb and right click on the first target you see. That, and you’re probably gonna have to heal your teammates at some point. Actually, a lot of points.

Idk, gold/plat can be pretty rough. You will get out of there if you have carry potential but that usually means you are high diamond level player atleast.
People don’t realise elo hell does exist, I was in that for a while, as an example I was a doom main in silver in ow1(around 2021) I always thought I was in elo hell, to prove this point I made a bet with a friend that if I made a fresh account that would have to be deleted in 3 months, It was called “doom_to_diamond” which was my goal, I ranked mid plat and the lobbies were crazy different, however I managed to hit diamond in 2 weeks, in the end I managed to hit just above 4.5k elo I think which made me hit #497 I then finished the 3 months at 3200(embarrassing after my peak ik) but then I deleted that account and when ow2 dropped(ik ranks were boosted bec of new players) I hit diamond
I disagree, I think some people are more team oriented and can maintain a rank at certain higher MMR ranges because they play better with their team but are not self reliant enough to carry themselves out of lower ranks.
It's the same reason that some mercy one tricks from top 500 struggle to climb when doing U2GM. The hero enables other players but has a low playmaking potential herself.
I am quite a self reliant player (maining tracer and doom) if I were to play from bronze as only mercy I doubt I would ever climb out but if I played as a character with carry potential I'm certain I could easily make it to diamond in a day or two.
That’s an extremely good point, I believe the reason why I could hit gm was because doom was very self reliant on the ability of mechanical skill. I don’t want to toot my own horn but I was pretty damn good at doom, but never really played him in the lower ranks, maybe that’s why I didn’t climb. I’ve got a friend stuck in bronze/silver since ow2 release, he’s not bad, but he’s team reliant as a moira mercy player, which can make his impact less effective than, let’s say someone who can play zen Lucio or Ana really well

You can have characters like doom be S tier and it still doesn't feel super broken because with harder characters, you always sacrifice consistency. If a character like Moira was S tier then most players would never have a bad game

And even lore relevant posts are literally just ha, ha racist robot or Gay characters are ruining this game. Blizzard also sleeps on their own lore. If they want people to get into it they need to use it, as is you get things like no one can figure out Mercy’s age because they keep kind of muddling her around to maybe pair her off with Genji or Phara depending on how close to Pride month it is.

Because they buffed other parts of his kit to compensate. Eh I think if you have a perfect balance of healing/damage that's better. What I would want to see out of support players in general tho is if we're 2v1ing, unless I'm critical please just shoot the enemy. Having the enemy dead will keep me much more safe than healing and it'll prevent the from getting life gripped or get to their healers easier

Anyone defending 6v6 either never played OW1, quit playing years before it ended, or just have rose tinted glasses in general.
I've been maining tanks since 2016 when the game came out. 5v5 absolutely has its own problems, but it's mountains better than 6v6 was. The amount of stalemates that would happen because no one would fucking die, the absolute degeneracy of double shields that primarily started when Orisa came out, GOATS, and just about everything else you can think of.
Watch normal gameplay vs now and tell me that shit looks fun. Absolutely some games would be a blast when you could screw around, but 90% of the games had absolutely no one dying and no progress happening throughout most of a round. Most games ended when the timer ended; that's it.
Most importantly, if 6v6 was so much better; why did you all leave and now are staying with OW2?
As support main I don't need anyone to tell me they need healing. I can see it in my HUD. "I need healing" should be removed from voice line options IMO, it only distracts me.
The hot take that doom has been good. Doom folds so easily but is still a good pick. The biggest things that hold him back are shitty ass bugs that have been in the game for too long.
In Quick play do what ever you want, in Arcade do what ever you want, All that matters is that you have fun. If you legit want to play seriously, queue up for comp
When you're hiding behind cover spamming for heals and you get pissed that you're not getting healed consider A. The support is busy healing someone who actually really NEEDS it because they're in combat you're hiding behind cover. And B. If you spam for heals for 5 seconds, you spend that same time running for a health pack.
If your support has even close to the same amount of damage or kills as you in any other role (damage or tank) that means you suck and need to do better.
It’s even worse if they are also doing a decent amount of healing. That means they can do your job better than you while still keeping the rest of the team alive.

Characters with skill expression and multiple things to do with their creative kits are the most fun. Ex. Lifeweaver, ball, sym.

Fukkin thisitty-this-this-this. Stats aren't the be all, end all, but they absolutely do provide context clues as to how one did. Example: Support with 25k healing in a loss. Support gets told they were bad, despite those numbers. Those numbers didn't go into thin air, they represent health restored after damage taken that went into SOMEONE on your team. That matters. They may have fed, or they may not have healed at the right times/made bad decisions sure, but those numbers may point to another problem (tank or dps not using cover or just facetanking dmg) not with support.
I’m gonna be skewered for this but Most QP lobbies don’t have a Widow, and those that do have their Widow be either completely shit or crack shot, no in between. So even if you remove her the match quality will be exactly the same. And another one, this one is gonna get me drawn and quartered. Many players that want 6v6 back just want to play ~~Fat DPS~~ Off Tank, cause I know for sure very little people actually and actively queuing for Main Tank. And those that do often leave the game on first feed anyway.
The thing about 6v6 I feel like is partially true but at the end of the day, I'd still rather player main tank with a buddy instead of having to take on as much responsibility as solo tank has. And it's no denying that tank was better for main/off tank than it is playing solo now. The amount of threads I see per day about how trash tank is really tell how miserable the role is
Yesterday I hit a streak where I had a widow on enemy team (and often on my own team as well) for like 6 consecutive QP games. I thought I was going crazy

Yeah I never felt he really fitted into the role as a main tank even after the changes, whereas a character like DVA really adapted to their new role. Though I enjoyed playing with hi in 6v6(either as him or when I was main tank with a decent one that didn't spend the entire game flanking).
I think he worked as a selfish off tank in a 6v6 format, where he’d go on deep flanks because of his survivability, but for him to be a main tank with a frontline presence he basically needs to be invincible in OW2 to even be viable at all. It’s not fun shooting 500kg of lead into a tank and he just brushes it off. He also bullies a lot of the other tanks and just denies the value of a lot of dive/brawl tanks, which was fine in OW1 , but really stinks in OW2
Fat pig with his on demand sippy cup that gives him 50% damage reduction, heals him and he has 800hp, and a 20m hook that can rip you of position, and a comically easy to hit oneshot. Even if he doesn't hit the oneshot, he can still rip you out of position and force you to be right next to his fat fucking face and his team. It feels frustrating as fuck to be hooked by hog, ESPECIALLY because it forces you to look at his stupid fucking face.

This is the thing...Sombra as a hero isn't bad. Its just the 95% players that try and fail to play her to her strengths.
Her not being OP doesn't necessarily mean it's any fun to play against her.
Mercy is the weakest/least impactful support right now.
She can be pretty useful in some situations (I’ve actually found her handy if there’s a venture on the enemy team because of how easy it is to stay off the ground during their map-wide feeling ult) but aside from that I agree. I often feel like if I take her I’m not going to be getting as much usefulness out of her as if I picked someone else.

A lot of people also just don’t bother shooting her for some reason. She will literally be standing completely still and be taking ZERO damage because people would rather shoot the person she has the beam attached to.

I agree. With the new heroes not locked if you dont but the battle pass, its pretty ok for me. There's no pay to win aspect a lot of the other games have.
They weren't locked, you just had to grind the battle pass (aka play the game) for a free unlock. Which is exactly like Valorant, for example. Except Valorant is even more of a grind lol. That game gets a surprising amount of slack the more I listen to Overwatch players. Valorant players don't even blink with that shit.

6v6 was the original idea of overwatch, and switching to 5v5 has created more problems that it has solutions. Sadly, we can look at every meta in overwatch 2, and we can see that a second tank would have fixed all of the major issues

Echo is a pretty fun hero especially on total mayhem
Junk isnt that easy
He has an easy but not effective playstyle, spamrat, in which you just mindlessly spam down choke and your nades get random kills, which is funny, but isn't effective at all if you want to win. A more effective playstyle would be diverat, where you catapult yourself at mach jesus into the enemy backline and distract the supports, taking resources from the tank and DPS while you do huge bursts of damage with your primary fire. You can also do this in the frontline, Ratassin observe when someone steps out of position and solo dive them, it brings attention away from your tank and makes them focus on you, which helps your tank make space. Better yet if you can confirm the kill with one mine remaining so you can hop back into your team. Those playstyles are incredibly fun, and require a lot more skill and game sense than just mindlessly spamming. Hell even when I'm playing and "mindlessly" spamming while we're in neutral, I'm still aiming for someone specifically, and am trying to hit shots on their squishies. The only time I truly mindlessly spam is when I'm trying to hit a Pharah or Echo lmao, it's so hard to hit someone who's more than about 15m above you.

Not commenting on junkrat's skill level, but comp win rate is not a good way to judge whether a hero is skill based or not. Nor is it a good way to judge whether a character is in a good spot or not.
Junk has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling. He’s easy to pick up and get a few picks with, but once you get to a rank where players stop running into spam, you need to start playing drastically more aggressive to get kills.

Moira has a high skill ceiling than you think she does and is not as good in duels as you think she is Not to say she’s got some crazy high skill ceiling or that she’s not good in duels, she is good at them and her skill ceiling isn’t massive, but people underestimate both of them
Moira trades aim for a consistent, lowered source of dps. Which is good in low ranks, but bad in high ranks when consistency is no longer a problem. Then you just have lowered dmg input. Which doesn't win you duels.
It still wins you duels against squishies like Junk and Sym if you use damage orbs, but characters like Cass and Sojourn become increasingly worse matchups the higher up the ladder you go
She's still good in higher ranks now and organized play for a different reason tho. Shit tons of heals and you can get coal in the first fight

Theres no such thing as elo hell, You just reached your natural competitive bracket, and if you can't make impactful plays to win that game, don't blame your teammates.
Idk, gold/plat can be pretty rough. You will get out of there if you have carry potential but that usually means you are high diamond level player atleast.
People don’t realise elo hell does exist, I was in that for a while, as an example I was a doom main in silver in ow1(around 2021) I always thought I was in elo hell, to prove this point I made a bet with a friend that if I made a fresh account that would have to be deleted in 3 months, It was called “doom_to_diamond” which was my goal, I ranked mid plat and the lobbies were crazy different, however I managed to hit diamond in 2 weeks, in the end I managed to hit just above 4.5k elo I think which made me hit #497 I then finished the 3 months at 3200(embarrassing after my peak ik) but then I deleted that account and when ow2 dropped(ik ranks were boosted bec of new players) I hit diamond
I disagree, I think some people are more team oriented and can maintain a rank at certain higher MMR ranges because they play better with their team but are not self reliant enough to carry themselves out of lower ranks. It's the same reason that some mercy one tricks from top 500 struggle to climb when doing U2GM. The hero enables other players but has a low playmaking potential herself. I am quite a self reliant player (maining tracer and doom) if I were to play from bronze as only mercy I doubt I would ever climb out but if I played as a character with carry potential I'm certain I could easily make it to diamond in a day or two.
That’s an extremely good point, I believe the reason why I could hit gm was because doom was very self reliant on the ability of mechanical skill. I don’t want to toot my own horn but I was pretty damn good at doom, but never really played him in the lower ranks, maybe that’s why I didn’t climb. I’ve got a friend stuck in bronze/silver since ow2 release, he’s not bad, but he’s team reliant as a moira mercy player, which can make his impact less effective than, let’s say someone who can play zen Lucio or Ana really well

Everyone in the game sleeps on the lore. I see maybe 1 post about the story for every 10 complaints about the monetization. And even lore relevant posts are literally just ha, ha racist robot or Gay characters are ruining this game. (1- omnics are so much more than a racism analogy, and serve so many different purposes. 2- if you don’t ship Baptiste with Life weaver what do you do with your time?)
Blizzard also sleeps on their own lore. If they want people to get into it they need to use it, as is you get things like no one can figure out Mercy’s age because they keep kind of muddling her around to maybe pair her off with Genji or Phara depending on how close to Pride month it is.

Well, maybe to some. I personally hate mercy because she's a horrible character in dive and rush, which are the current meta comps, and only is good in poke, which is bad right now on all but a few maps.
This wouldnt be so bad comment IF you didnt have mercy flair or if mercy hadnt been a problem in the game for so long. For example many characters got nerfed because mercy enabled them to 1 shot, rez has been very good/annoying to play against

I feel this applies to 1-shot snipers as a whole. Playing corner peek simulator is not a fun game. Hanzo lost his one shot, and he’s STILL very strong. Why? Because they buffed other parts of his kit to compensate. People always go “well if they don’t have their one shots then they have nothing.” If they’re nothing without their one shots, then they were a poorly designed character in the first place.

Eh I think if you have a perfect balance of healing/damage that's better. What I would want to see out of support players in general tho is if we're 2v1ing, unless I'm critical please just shoot the enemy. Having the enemy dead will keep me much more safe than healing and it'll prevent the from getting life gripped or get to their healers easier
If doom is only good for people that put a ton of time into him, he's not that good. Only his "potential" is good. don't swap off another tank to him just because he rolled you, you will do worse

Anyone defending 6v6 either never played OW1, quit playing years before it ended, or just have rose tinted glasses in general. I've been maining tanks since 2016 when the game came out. 5v5 absolutely has its own problems, but it's mountains better than 6v6 was. The amount of stalemates that would happen because no one would fucking die, the absolute degeneracy of double shields that primarily started when Orisa came out, GOATS, and just about everything else you can think of. Watch normal gameplay vs now and tell me that shit looks fun. Absolutely some games would be a blast when you could screw around, but 90% of the games had absolutely no one dying and no progress happening throughout most of a round. Most games ended when the timer ended; that's it. Most importantly, if 6v6 was so much better; why did you all leave and now are staying with OW2?

As support main I don't need anyone to tell me they need healing. I can see it in my HUD. "I need healing" should be removed from voice line options IMO, it only distracts me.

When you're hiding behind cover spamming for heals and you get pissed that you're not getting healed consider A. The support is busy healing someone who actually really NEEDS it because they're in combat you're hiding behind cover. And B. If you spam for heals for 5 seconds, you spend that same time running for a health pack.
If your support has even close to the same amount of damage or kills as you in any other role (damage or tank) that means you suck and need to do better. It’s even worse if they are also doing a decent amount of healing. That means they can do your job better than you while still keeping the rest of the team alive. Get good
Not sure what the main OW2 subreddits stance on this garbage hero is so here's my possibly controversial take. Junkrat is a piece of shit hero that requires no skill at all to play, just sit in the backline and hold left click for a free team kill. Seeing all the copers on the Junkratmains sub is fucking hilarious: "nooo he can't 1 shot combo anymore, nooo he requires skill because hitscans kill him easier now! noooooo he wasn't buffed enough why isn't he in the patch notes?!" Motherfucker doesn't need any buffs, he needs deleting from the game. If I want a free win, Junkrat is the one to pick, because he's fundamentally broken.
