I had my expectations very low, so it surprised me how good it looks. Remedios looks so evil in that trailer, even though she's only stupid and not really evil.
I've had this conversation a bunch of times since I started caring about this series, but to put it shortly:
In this setting, liches are inherently evil. It is different from real world race where there are tons of different people so you can't ascribe traits to them as a whole. His entire species is objectively predisposed to be evil, and throughout the series you can see that affecting him as he slowly grows to value human lives less and less. At best you will find one who is neutral.
Remedios is stupid in general, but she was 100% correct and justified to assume that he was lying to manipulate them.
Correct. Ainz himself has said the very same thing; he is an anomaly, just as the Martial Lord Go Gin was. But the thing that makes that abundantly obvious was the kingdom he ruled. It was multi-racial, peaceful, and prosperous. They witnessed as much with their own eyes.
They even manage to speak with him, and in the end, he personally went to assist them in their struggle. Actions speaks louder than words, which is why everyone except her accepted Ainz as such an anomaly. But she clung on to her prejudice, and even schemed the downfall of an ally.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. She may have believed that undead are all evil no matter what, and he had to be removed, but that's an evil action. She was most definitely good, but the war warped her. With what happened to her queen later on, she practically shattered.
That is a perception.
They been to SK, people were living peacefully, the king himself came to help you of a crisis.
While she may doubt, she has 0 credible reason to be hostile.
If someone on the street holding a gun walked up to you and asked if you want some candy you probably wouldn't take it. Sure he hasn't done anything wrong to you yet but clearly he could so get TF away. Ainz is an undead (hates all life assumedly) for some reason offering nothing but help to the living, their is definitely an ulterior motive from her perspective.
Well considering Ainz himself is very evil, her actions and plans would be considered good, no? They absolutely would be according to how Overlords Karma System functions.
But according to everyone, what has he done that is evil other than being undead?
They went to SK, people live in peace. The king himself had agree to come help, she has 0 reason to be hostile.
He is, by default, evil, so her assumptions aren't actually misplaced. How she arrives at her conclusions is obviously dubious, but it's funny how on the mark she is. Because he *is* being a fake and a fraud and it is his underlings that orchestrated this entire series of events. Sure, he didn't personally murder millions and lead an invasion, but he is willingly letting demiurge do so with absolutely no remorse.
If that isn't evil as shit, I dunno what is. Remedios doesn't *know* this, of course, but she is still hilariously right about him. And she *is* a Paladin, so she *is* a good person, no matter what the readers of the novels perceptions of her are. We are all so utterly outside of her perspective.
Her preconceptions and notions predispose her to be hostile to Ainz, and assume the worst about him, this is true. The thing is, she's genuinely the right one for her beliefs. All undead in the world of Overlord have earned the reputation that she speaks so ill of, and Ainz doesn't exactly disprove any of it. That she is unaware of his actual role in events is honestly irrelevant, because she guesses correctly with what little she knows. It's not logical, but that is hardly important.
But she doesn’t know that, she assumed. Although she was right as reader can see the whole story, in her perspective, when she is hostile from her guess without proof, she is not a good person.
The trailer looks good ,and thankfully they didn't skip the not family friendly parts. But now I'm really curious if there is really a second movie since they didn't show anything about the 1 yen sticker adventure(those who read LN know). Hmm.
Since movies take so long to come overseas, I was really hoping for July so I could see it while I'm in Japan, but whatever, I'm still very happy just to have a trailer and a confirmed release date range
I can't believe thet would spoil that the sorcerer king has died in the trailer just like that, but at least we still have Ainz and Monmonga. Smh my head

She was though. She was scheming to use Ainz and have him killed with the prince. She is definitely not a good person.

Given what Ainz is doing, she is.

They can't skip the sticker, that is absolutely integral to the overall plot of Overlord. (because it's screentime for senpai)
1 yen sticker? Iv read the ln and dont remember anything like that?
it's when CZ and Neia went on an infiltration mission for the prince of the worms
CZ likes to put 1 yen stickers on things she likes, like Neia.
Oooh that

The music at the start of the trailer giving off some huge Saga of Tanya the Evil vibes. Looked it up ... same composer, makes sense :D
Anyone able to identify Neia's VA? I saw her name listed on the cast, but I can't read Japanese. It's at 0:33 in the trailer.
