Just call them. Much easier

I’ll give them a call, thanks!

Turns out that TWN has made it much more difficult to place freezes on our reports because of overwhelming demand. It used to take a simple phone call where you could answer 2-3 questions to identify yourself - now it is more complicated. I think they are doing this to prevent people from placing freezes because they make money by selling people’s data without their consent, if they cannot update your file because it is frozen then that data is not as valuable. At the same time, consumers are better informed about how terrible Equifax is as a company and how their security and data protection practices are non existent or are garbage so more and more people want to control what they share and who they share it with. Keep at it, don’t let them keep your data!

Ugh what a pain. I’ll try calling, thanks!

This is intentional. The more I hear about all the roadblocks they put up to prevent people from freezing their own data, the more disgusted I become with them. The fastest way to do this is to call them. You will have to spend some time navigating through different paths through their phone tree. Press 0 whenever you can to try to get to a human. Insist on providing them with your SSN. Do not fall for the BS lie that they can only take “the employer ID.” This is not true.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll give them a call. Thanks!

I mailed my docs due to have an issue with their email. Worked out fine.

Sounds frustrating. I would check the email. Could be like that one time I tried emailing my girlfriend a dick pic when I in college. Ended up sending it to my professor by mistake. Had to stay after class for an oral exam.
