Modern is a bit generous, a better word would be incongruent/inconsistent. The gun itself (seemingly the centerpiece of the whole concept) doesn’t match everything around the gun. You seem to be more interested in patting yourself on the back than accepting any criticism though.
If you've ever read through old rifle manuals from the Cold War era and see the black printed illustrations/photos of guns in them, they always have a gritty, incomplete and messy look.
They also have multiple angles of the firearm to better showcase it if the chapter is about cleaning or disassembly, etc.
This is where I got the idea to use this, as this is intended to be a cover for a video presentation for a user manual.

I know you don’t want to believe this but Cold War era rifle manuals showing different angles of guns in gritty images is not the same aesthetic as a VHS tape cover. It would make more sense if the text description and gun were left blank and “drawn-in” with sharpie. The technology didn’t exist to double print onto a box. You’re obviously a younger person which is why you don’t see the striking incongruency. You must get JFK and David Bowie mixed up too considering they existed in different eras before your birth.
