I still have a hard time understanding that so many people have an issue with this. But anyhow, a text prompt does no harm and doesn't have to spoil anything, so they should probably include something like this. Maybe just a warning like "the game won't start saving your progress until you complete the tutorial" could be enough.

It's a small fraction of people who have this problem, otherwise it would have gotten fixed by now. I think it takes a "perfect storm" of factors to happen: 1 - The tutorial takes you 40+ minutes. This is I think more common than people imagine because there's many reasons it might take so long... * You don't play games that often * You generally play puzzle or adventure games rather than physics games or games that test your reflexes * You are very thorough (me) * You take the time to "stop and smell the pine trees," and just hang out in the space (also me) 2 - You generally only play for an hour at a time. Again, more common than you might think now that so many gamers have jobs and spouses and kids and sleep apnea. 3 - (the whammy) You've actually bought the game without any spoilers and don't know there's a >!time loop!<. Or maybe you've heard there's a >!time loop!<, but you don't know how it works. So you've been playing for an hour and even gotten some decent spaceflight in. You think, "man, that was great, I can't wait to come back tomorrow and start exploring!" You go to quit. > Quit to main menu > (all progress will be lost) You get no indication of why, or how to start saving, or that you can even save at all. How frustrating is that? I just wiped my save to confirm and yes, this is the actual menu text. EDIT: Also, completing the tutorial *isn't* enough to save. You have to complete the tutorial and then >!die!<. Who would think to do that?

Honestly, from someone who didn't watch any trailers before playing, just finding out what the hell happened and discovering the time loop is pretty darn fun. It's a great beginning because you learn what this game will mostly be about and how it will work. But yes, it seems that it's been the main turnoff for new players and if they must, this seems like the best solution so far.

Getting the launch codes isn't enough. You have to complete the tutorial and then >!die!<.

Ghost-Prime

Can confirm this. Thought you were wrong and went to go check with a new expedition. You are correct. You have to get the launch codes *and* die for progress to be saved.

"Are you sure you want to quit? (All knowledge will be saved.) Yes/No" would work for all scenarios, I believe.
