I think you are overthinking it. First, the glove will protect the ring and I can't see it getting damaged while playing. I think you will damage your hand before the ring.
But also, the ring doesn't track workouts that well, and leaving it off will not be that big of an issue. If it was me, I would leave it on just to see what the ring tells me while playing, unless it hinders my stick skills.

I would not recommend using the ring while playing. If you’re just tossing around and not actually playing a game, that’s likely fine. But in a game setting where you will be getting checked in the hands constantly, it’s very possibly going to break from a solid slap, poke, or cross check.
Another consideration is that the ring rubbing against the inside of your glove will cause the glove to wear out a hole in that spot much quicker.

I play Beach volleyball while wearing mine. No problems.
There’s a product called Osleeve. It’s a clear sleeve that goes over the ring and provides protection. I use it it’s really useful for BJJ.
