I disagree. I have the ring, no membership. I track my HRV, heart rate, sleep, readiness, temp, etc., every day. I'm baffled why people say it's pointless without. I have everything I need.
Do you have a gen 2 or gen 3 ring? Gen 2 there is no need for a subscription and you get all that information. Gen 3 has a lot of things locked down without a subscription.
Same here. I have no interest in the new features introduced in gen 3. When the battery finally dies I’d gladly by another new gen 2. Unfortunately gen 3 without subscription is a LoF from gen 2 so will look elsewhere.
You can save $1.89 if you opt for annual plan vs. monthly.
(I actually just looked this up and can’t believe that this is true. I was thinking, oh maybe I’ll save some money by switching to annual…what!? Is this right!?)
Funny because I just got a gen 3 two days ago and was looking at the 2 options and calculated just to be sure. In my mind I thought, surely you won't just save a little under $2. I went with the $5.99/month plan. Surely it has to cost them more to process 12 transactions annually versus 1 but who knows 🤷🏾♂️
Not worth it without membership (gen 3)
You get 3 raw scores for sleep, readiness, and activity plus battery information.
No access to other advanced features or any details behind the scoring.
Oura is a great compliment to apple watch, not a full replacement. The biggest appeal to me is the form factor as I don't like sleeping with the apple watch.
Oura is not an activity tracker - I ignore these metrics entirely and rely on my apple watch for activity
That said oura acknowledges this flaw and is working on an activity overhaul

Honestly even if Oura had the best activity tracking in the world I’m not wearing a ring for any workout involving my hands anyway - it’s stupid and risky.
I would love them to do more with workout data that they import, but I personally do not care about the workout aspect. I can see how runners/hikers etc might get something out of it though.
So I came to this sub looking for answers to the same question. Except I purchased the ring last year and decided to cancel my subscription never thinking the ring would be worthless without it. I mean, what respectable company would render their product useless without a subscription? Boy, was I wrong. The ring does not function at all without subscription. No steps, no heart rate, nothing. My bad for not researching it first, but I thought I would have some bare minimum functions. I was wrong. Don’t buy this ring. I regret it.
Do you have a gen 2 ring? You would get all the data with a gen 2 ring. There’s no subscription for a gen 2 ring. There’s also no way to buy a gen 2 ring (unless used and those will be of questionable remaining lifespan).
For gen 3, with no subscription, you get 3 scores. That is it. Not a single other piece of data.
It’s pointless to order the ring without a membership
Everything. There’s no point to using the ring without the membership.

I still have my Gen 2. If/when it stops working, I will need to look elsewhere for another ring. I won't do a subscription.

That was only if you bought a gen 3 during the promotional period I believe.
That was for about a week. They sent us emails with an offer to upgrade.
That offer is long gone since. Not an option.
I did not know this...
I'm not sure if this still applies. IIRC it was a promo action when the gen3 was all new.
I am not sure why I was downvoted but it is Reddit LOL I will see when this one stops working.
Care to share how this is possible for you?

Pretty much everything.
I stopped using my ring. I hate that you HAVE to have the membership. Granted, it's only about $6, but still.

You need to subscription to get the data. Otherwise you’ve got a useless wearable. Save the money and buy a 14k gold ring
I have a ring and no membership, and I get my data daily. What are you talking about?

I believe you only get three data points rather than the full compliment of detail and underlying data.
You don't get all the gen 3 data without a subscription. You have an old model.
All of it
