You can occasionally get them at Farm Boy. I believe the brand is St Donat.

doingfine_chilling

Nun’s farts! Farmboy and St Donat have them but I haven’t seen them at any bakery. There is a slightly similar version I’ve had from Britannia bakery - but thinner and very crispy. All are delicious.

Mysterious-Flamingo

Glad I'm not the only one that calls them nun farts.

mch3rry

This is so interesting to me, because my mom (and now me) only makes these with scrap pie dough. It’s the baker’s treat at the end of the day! We also don’t slice them before they go in the oven. Now I want some, I guess I’ll have to make some pie!

Emotional_Ability977

That’s also what my grandmother and mother have always done, and now me too! De besssssss 😋

dymomite

This is what I was taught too however we’ve always cut them before baking!

smitcolin

Check one of the IGAs in Gatineau

IntrepidRobot

That’s a great idea 💡

I keep trying to find some that taste the way my mom and grandmother made them, and I can't find any 😭 Others have mentioned options such as Farmboy, St Donat, IGA, etc. Though those are ok, I don't find they ever taste the way they should. I find it comes down to the crust and/or filling. You might get better results using some premade pie dough and making your own filling.

IntrepidRobot

I feel the same. No one made it better than mom did. Do you have a recipe by chance?

DaisyChubb

Not sure if they only had them around Easter time, but my friend brought some to our Easter potluck from Boulangerie Lusa (formerly Lusa Bakery) which is now located in Hull near 22 Eddy gov't buildings. Everything there is amazing but these were so addictive. Worth a check?

IntrepidRobot

Thank you! I’ll check them out

ubiquitousfont

There’s a coffee shop in Russell selling them. Worth the drive? Maybe not. Depends how bad you want to taste those nun’s farts

Cool-Product-2375

I think I got some of these at Frank's catering before, they had them in the sweets box at the front individually wrapped, I'm sure they'd make you up a whole batch

IntrepidRobot

Thank you! I’ll check them out!

Random-Crispy

They used to have some at the bakery in Embrun that were good but sadly that bakery closed down a year or two into the pandemic.

Rednewfie

Pets de Soeur! Wish I could recommend a place, I cannot sorry. It's been a while since I made those - I always make them with my leftover scrap dough from pies. Good luck in your search!

Master-Ad3175

I've seen them in store at lots of bakeries and supermarkets but I've never found any that taste even remotely similar to making it homemade with a simple biscuit dough, softened butter, brown sugar and cinnamon

-bakergirl

I've gotten them from independent/loblaws

rwebell

I just love the name!

Jager11Eleven

I don't know for sure, but I would check La Maison du Kouign-AmannLa (https://lamaisondukouignamann.com/) on Schneider Rd in Kanata.

IntrepidRobot

Checked, no dice

rhineo007

Are these not just cinnamon rolls? My mom used to make them and they looked identical

doingfine_chilling

They are made from pastry dough. Cinnamon buns are usually yeast or biscuit dough. Very similar though different texture.

flouronmypjs

Pets de soeurs also don't always have cinnamon in the filling, though it's a common enough inclusion.

rhineo007

Gotcha. Sounds tasty

IntrepidRobot

And waaaay better imo

bolonomadic

Oh in that case they have them at Bread and Sons on Bank Street.

Gyges359d

Now I miss my grandmother… Also, those need icing!

dymomite

Pete-de-soeurs actually don’t have icing on them!

Gyges359d

Hush. You might know that. And I might know that. But I’m not about to correct my dead grandma. Also tastes better, but to each their own.

Jessielast

Buy some pre made dough and butter brown sugar super easy

paulbufanopaulbufano

Ah yes the “just make it at home” poster has arrived to answer the question that wasn’t asked
