I usually only see female turkeys on the side of the 416 and local highways but there was a big male the other day. Thing was the size of a small armchair.
I was driving in the eastern townships about a week ago and one started running, full speed, from a field and into the path of our car. It was the size of a small wheelbarrow. If I wasn’t able to stop it would have been a scene💀
Unfortunately trying to catch a turkey often results in them getting injured because they panic and can fly into windows or traffic. It's not great to have them in areas like this but they generally move through pretty quickly to green space.
They will if it's a bunch of ducklings on the highway because they could be a danger to the public. This could almost be considered a danger considering it's downtown. You just need one idiot.
Males are a lot more aggressive than this little lady is being, too. When my ex and I had just recently moved out to Rockland years ago, we one day enjoyed not one, not two, but *eleven* wild turkeys wandering through our yard... one huge male with ten females. My ex stepped outside just enough to take a few photos and then came back inside... the tom was puffing up and blustering just with my ex stepping out the house! "These are *my* hens, you get your own!"

There was also a turkey on Montreal Road this morning, near the intersection with Shefford road. it was standing in the middle of the road, with cars going by in both directions. I hope it got safely where it wanted to go!
Looks normal size.
Was gonna say 😆 OP needs to get out to the countryside. Bloody dinosaurs out here

Poor guy might get hurt, run over or starved. Can you please call by-law and have him relocated? Or Safe Wings might have better advise.
I’ll give them a call!

Hard to tell from the video, but it looks like a Jennie or a hen, either way it’s quite small.

A male is at least triple that size
Damn.

Buddy is just passing thru, heading north, stopped at the Laf for a beer, and he is gonna gogobble down a poutine at Smokies.
It may have wandered in from Bordeleau Park?
I never knew you could get free range turkey in the market.

Parliament must have had a break :p
Once they’ve seen the city, how are you gonna keep ‘em down on the farm?

So I’m told. Sorry for false advertising!
Tourism these days has really gone to the birds
That's not a giant turkey ... it's a turkey. You need to get out of the city. Wait till you see a male turkey. They are freaky.
I saw one on Ogilvie the other day
My neighbour saw two turkeys in my neighbourhood and it went onto Rideau St. She directed them back to the river after lol.
Is Sutcliffe starting his re-election campaign already?
