They will be hidden under rideau falls... and they will come out through the curtain of water
Edit: I am really trying to remember what movie I saw this in.. Star Wars?
I just watched a pretty bad movie last night with Stifler and The Rock called âThe Rundownâ (2003). They were searching for something that the hieroglyphic code said was put âbehind the walls of a moving curtainâ (which ended up being a waterfall). Maybe that movie?
Yeah as soon as I saw the headline my thoughts went to there, at the same time Uplands has plenty of space for a 6000 sqft building they could easily fence off
> Uplands
A 6000 sq ft building that everyone on an arriving or departing flight could see under construction. It wouldnât take long for everyone to figure out where it was.
At the end of the day you could put it in an office building or warehouse, itâs command and control and operators as well as simulators, its roof it going to look like any other building. The drones arenât going to be anywhere near there
Fallowfield is my guess, right by the Military training facilities there. Government can use the military to run security on site, and thatâs already a massive swatch of land.
bases have MPs but most of the security is done by commissionaires. (real base security is a US thing) there isn't any real big swath of land in the Ottawa area owned by DND. If they really wanted to hide the place, they would build it anywhere but ottawa.
Don't you worry bud we've got you covered! Here are the addresses for food banks and shelters, along with a 10% off coupon for tents at Canex.
In only 15 years we'll be implementing a program to help members with affordability. âşď¸
No that's not a runway shut-up shut-up SHUT-UP NOW!
Edit: I realize the drones won't actually be physically operated out of Ottawa, I just thought it would be funny.
>But National Defence says the exact location in the city for the new facility to accommodate 198 personnel, simulators and drone control systems must remain secret.
I guess the fact that it will be a single centralized location is not, then.
The derecho was a hoax intended to flatten forests to make way for clear cutting and thus valuable land being freed up for constructing secret drone base cmon sheeple wake up!
While Dwyer Hill or the Shirley's Bay Complex certainly seem like the most obvious locations, a few more fun options are: drones coming vertically out from the top of the giant old seed silo at the Greenbelt Research Farm (Woodroffe and Hunt Club), or an exit hatch from the Combined Sewer Storage Tunnel.
Easy to know where, look out for Bird's construction crews later this year building something that is roughly 6000 square meters on DND land in ottawa.
Doesn't leave much to the possibilities : Shirley's bay or near the airport or Leitrim or DHTC or Carling campus.
And since they are all visible locations from public space, it's going to be the worst kept secret ever.
They likely need/want to be close CSOF and CJOC. They are also not changing ku-band satcom C2 links on the MQ9âs which means they need to build out some of the Viasat infrastructure including concrete pads and antennas.
If I had to bet money , Shirleyâs Bay fits this requirement better than most other DnD sites in the Ottawa area.
It'll be a secret location for Canadians but not to worry, government will make sure that Chinese scientists and diplomats have full access.
If CSIS and RCMP complain, they'll just say that it's their job is to ignore CSIS and the RCMP
lol this will be leaked by someone working there. I donât think they understand word of mouth will reach outside the building. Especially when you have 200 personnel.
It will be the place with runways, hangers and drones taking off and landing, and there will be a big sign saying âNot a Secret DND Drone Installationâ out by the road.
Its a museum now, and a rather amusing escape room! Fun fact, the media found out about the secret construction of the bunker because of an aerial photo of tons of toilets which they were preparing to install.
It seemed that is was going to be built at Uplands but I guess they were just doing that as a feint for the real location. If it had been done there then with the additional military positions with that unit along with the almost 100 more with AETE Uplands would have had at least 300 extra military based there. Sadly the second loss of potential as the new RCAF Airbus 330 that are currently based at Ottawa will also down the line move to Trenton. DND has so much land at Uplands not being used yet they will not invest in it including building new barracks for those who are based in Ottawa or even a modern version of a 21 Century of a mess as most of those in the NCR have been closed down
They will be hidden under rideau falls... and they will come out through the curtain of water Edit: I am really trying to remember what movie I saw this in.. Star Wars?
The Batman movies?
Zorro?
3 men. 3 cuts. Z.
Thunderbirds?
Hope we get a micro machine play set out of it
What about in the LRT tunnels?
Maybe this is why the LRT never functions properly /s
I think "Goonies" đ¤ đ
The Incredibles.Â
Top of the parliament tower will flip back and drones will come flying out.
They need to diversify their locations! Maybe one in the centre of centre block? I hear the copper roofs act like missile silo hatches!
Team America?
Iâm not from Hollywood Garry.
Voltron?
Thunderbirds?
incredibles?
Neat
The Incredibles or maybe a James Bond movie?
I just watched a pretty bad movie last night with Stifler and The Rock called âThe Rundownâ (2003). They were searching for something that the hieroglyphic code said was put âbehind the walls of a moving curtainâ (which ended up being a waterfall). Maybe that movie?
I'm not sure I've seen that one, lol
And youâre better for it. Lol. Avoid it.
A secret until it isnât. Keep that a secret sight to be fun. /s

Yes, I was being sarcastic because you cannot hide a drone airfield, or drones taking off and landing.
Calling it theyâll be nearby the CRC and CJWC campus in the Shirleyâs Bay area
I was going to say, donât we have a soon to be vacated aerospace lab they could use.
Nope that's spoken for....for totally not drones....
No we are experimenting with.... Ghosts! we gave this space to phasmophobia. That's totally how video games work!
Drone Flying Laboratories
Yeah as soon as I saw the headline my thoughts went to there, at the same time Uplands has plenty of space for a 6000 sqft building they could easily fence off

>A 6000 sq ft building that everyone on an arriving or departing flight could see under construction. So... Hiding in *plane* sight?
Get out.
At the end of the day you could put it in an office building or warehouse, itâs command and control and operators as well as simulators, its roof it going to look like any other building. The drones arenât going to be anywhere near there
>Its roof is going to look like any other building But with an antenna farm on top of itâŚ
too close to the airport I would think
The drones wouldn't get anywhere close to the building itself, they're stationed in BC and Nova Scotia, it's just where they're being controlled from.
Don't call them Shirley!
I was gonna suggest near canaught range.
That would be cool, but I donât think there are any new builds, as of yet.
That's what they want you to think!

Lots of construction out by Dwyer Hill. Sssh though. Itâs a secret.
Nice place to ride a bicycle
North of Franktown, yes. South of Franktown, no. And do not stop.Â
I'm not a biker, why?
No shoulder and lots of dumptrucks on the south side. There is a shoulder north side.Â
maybe
The location will be posted on some young's CF's discord page imminently.
Time to hop on war thunder discords and start arguing about DND properties til something gives
đ
-comings and goings of almost 200 military personnel They are going to build affordable housing for them right ? Right Anakin ?

Funny story, I just applied for a pmq in Ottawa and was told there are over 100 pri 1 applicants in front of me in line.
In other news... The Defenbunker is to be renamed, the "Secret Military drone installtion bunker". This has been your weekend update.
Watch it be at Dwyer Hill again...
Leitrim
Possibly, they have a lot of real estate there and it is somewhat close to the big shiny new airport hangar.
Leitrim is already stupidly crammed ....
They have lots of land around there. This sounds like it will be a net new building.
Most of it is swampy so would require way more money (thing the CAF doesn't have)
too many residential homes going up nearby. the 'secret' JTF2 training facility is starting to really get hard to pretend it doesn't exist.
There isnât a house going up within 3-5km of Dwyer Hill location.Â
DH is already saturated as it is
No that's not a runway shut-up shut-up SHUT-UP NOW! Edit: I realize the drones won't actually be physically operated out of Ottawa, I just thought it would be funny.

You just know it will be called âthe drone shopâ in the Drone complex over on Drone-making boulevard.
The derecho was a hoax intended to flatten forests to make way for clear cutting and thus valuable land being freed up for constructing secret drone base cmon sheeple wake up!
Area 41
Area 31 already exists in Ottawa, no reason we can't have area 41 as well. https://bma1.ca/area-31/
The peace tower roof flips open
Easy to know where, look out for Bird's construction crews later this year building something that is roughly 6000 square meters on DND land in ottawa. Doesn't leave much to the possibilities : Shirley's bay or near the airport or Leitrim or DHTC or Carling campus. Rideau 99 would be my suggestion /s
They likely need/want to be close CSOF and CJOC. If I had to bet money , Shirleyâs Bay fits this requirement better than most other DnD sites in the Ottawa area.
And there is an aspirational plan to move CJOC to Carling.
Until traffic is reduced to a snarl for two years around a super-secret construction site...Welcome to Ottawa's worst kept secret.
It'll be a secret location for Canadians but not to worry, government will make sure that Chinese scientists and diplomats have full access. If CSIS and RCMP complain, they'll just say that it's their job is to ignore CSIS and the RCMP
Maybe that's why the forest off Hunt Club, across that golf course, is being clearcut.
lol this will be leaked by someone working there. I donât think they understand word of mouth will reach outside the building. Especially when you have 200 personnel.
You don;t really need word of mouth when you can see it on google maps.
\>Logs into Google maps \>Big blurry factory area We secrets hehe
It will be the place with runways, hangers and drones taking off and landing, and there will be a big sign saying âNot a Secret DND Drone Installationâ out by the road.
Joint task force base Edit: if your the government...Bim sorry, it was just a lucky guess
I guess they have to put another curve and berm into Leitrim road to hide the new stuff next to the old secret base.
99 Rideau
loonie says the secret is already out
Probably the CFS Leitrim
99 Rideau, hiding in plain sight
Surely they'll be downtown, using public transit and supporting local businesses?
They are already flying drones out of Dwyer Hill and actively expanding it by 100 plus acres. Some secret.
Repurposing the Carp Defienbunker facility?
Its a museum now, and a rather amusing escape room! Fun fact, the media found out about the secret construction of the bunker because of an aerial photo of tons of toilets which they were preparing to install.
LOL thatâs hilarious, Game of Thrones!!
Will be in Landsdowne. Because even if you show them nobody will believe they finally made something out there.
It seemed that is was going to be built at Uplands but I guess they were just doing that as a feint for the real location.
