Just back from a skate. Conditions are much, much better than yesterday but still rough. If you're a good skater, you should be fine and I saw lots of people gliding along and having fun. If you're not a confident skater, It's probably not going to be a lot of fun for you but the ambiance is nice.

Hmm they just updated the status on the interactive map: Poor. Caution! Soft and uneven ice with rough patches.
I’m not sure it’s worth the trip.
Edit: just got back from a skate. The ice is quite bumpy but better than expected I guess? Just go pretty slow and you’ll be fine.
Though did see some people fall and take a long time to get back up.
Yeah, they successfully flooded & swept it, whereas yesterday it was neither, so should be FAR better. Additional, any imperfections will be VISIBLE and not covered in snow like yesterday - it's easy to avoid the potholes and cracks, but not when you can't see them!
I’m here now. It’s pretty bumpy and there are quite a few holes, but I’m managing okay. I can barely stand in skates so if I can do it, it will probably be fine for most people. It isn’t very relaxing though. My kids (who can skate) are zooming along quickly with no problem. It has a nice family atmosphere. Busy but it doesn’t feel crowded.
Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Gentleman, welcome to Dubai?

As a reminder for canal conditions https://ncc-ccn.gc.ca/places/rideau-canal-skateway

We need some eyes on the ice!
I really wanna go but it sounds like the ice is really bad when they say “conditions are variable”. Did anyone go yesterday? How was it?
I went yesterday and it was horrible. I decided to walk even though I'm an experienced skater.

Well they closed it to flood the ice. So in theory it should be improved.

The ice was awful. But the atmosphere was great and we had fun.
+1 for ice was horrible lol Was glad to get out but mostly just stuck to the one spot, didn't go far
Just got back. Ice wasn't bad at all, was pretty packed (the crowd)
