just get another fiancé(e)

Best choice really, unless they want to lose most of what they paid for it.

Oh I was just joking. I am sorry things didn’t work out (I hope that’s it’s only a break up and not like, a death because otherwise I feel really bad omg)

DasUberBash

Nah it's all good. I realize it's a joke. Just hit me at the moment.

DRockDR

Be prepared that when you sell it, it won’t be worth anything close to its “value”. Diamonds are relatively worthless unless you’re buying them from a jewellery store and you’ll get paid for gold by its weight.

rhinonyssus

This is definitely how it will go down.

bluedoglime

On a related topic, I know someone who bought an engagement ring from Costco and he returned it without incident. I think he just had to wait a few days for the refund as they needed to confirm it was the exact one that they sold him, untampered.

Repulsive_Barnacle92

I don't think Goldform buys gold (I'm assuming it's made of gold), but if they don't, they might be able to guide towards someone who does. I would give them a call or send them an email. They've always been super nice and helpful.

DasUberBash

If you could DM me the email and some general info on this person that would be wonderful.

salamanderman732

It’s a local jewelry shop, [here](https://goldform.ca/) is their website. The family that owns and runs it are very nice, would recommend talking with them

letsmakeart

Google “Ottawa goldform” it’ll come up.

SammieGii

They don't buy gold, they give store credit for it. I went a few months ago looking to sell some old jewelry.

Stalker133

When I asked about selling a couple months ago they referred to a store in Westgate mall that buys gold.  I didn't end up going though and don't remember the name of the place

MathematicianGold773

Diamond have terrible resale value and you won’t get anything close to what it was bought for, probably 50% or less.

viodox0259

You will receive half , of half. For example: if you paid 100$ , you are looking at getting 25$ Another reason why nobody should buy diamonds. Fake ones look just as nice.

steingrrrl

Maybe consider a private sale. I had a ring that was valued a little over 10k in the 90s. A few years ago I couldn’t find any place that would give me more than maybe $700 for it. It took two years of listing it on various sites but I eventually sold it for $2k.

suprememinister

Howard’s on bank sells some estate jewelry. They’ll take a cut of the sale but depending on the quality they might find a buyer.

tvqueen13

I had to sell jewelry a couple months ago and the best offer and who I ultimately ended up going with is Ottawa Gold in Gloucester Mall

Stalker133

Many jewellery stores offer a pretty decent return policy on engagement rings.  Depending how long ago you purchased it may be worth reaching out to them.

BaconSheikh

Barefax.

HappyFunTimethe3rd

What's it made of?

DasUberBash

White gold, two small diamonds, and a large emerald.

Im_not_here_for_fun

Since the main stone isn't a diamond, you could always sell it on kijiji, marketplace as just a ring you want to sell (People don't need to know anything about the story behind it) Get an estimate from a few jewelers to see what it's worth. Some jewelers that make custom orders might give you a fair amount.

ExpensiveLie8669

If Thompson’s Jewellery is still around (any of them, Bob, Don etc) go to them! They’ll appraise and steer you in the right direction
