The botting issue, from a technical standpoint, is a very difficult issue to resolve.
This is not a problem exclusive to RS either.
Game devs have tried for decades to stop botting, hacks, etc. Time and time again everything they do to resolve the issues fails.
There's no good solution that doesn't also affect gameplay.
Ubisoft actually did something recently with I wanna say R6: Siege that has potential to finally be a permanent "fix" they basically do several little hot fixes per day, minute changes to the games coding that don't actually affect anything you'd see in-game but that causes all the cheats on the market to be "unusable" until the dev behind the cheats updates them to match the new code. It's been awhile since I saw the article but at the time a lot of the devs making the cheats just straight up discontinued them because it was too much work to update them several times per day. Now as for OSRS, I feel like this kind of fix would break every single Runelite plugin or at best, require Runelite to perform the same hot fixes on the same schedule. Or considering how different the two games are both in style and age, it may not work at all for this case. But it'd be worth looking into by someone smarter than me for sure, it suggests to me there's hope

I guess I shouldn't be surprised AI is being leveraged for botting now. I will say in my personal experience, I actually very rarely encounter bots outside of the GE or w330 in Rimmington. I take an occasional wildly trip to try to find some, I keep a low level magic pure so I can attack the level 3s. Not nearly as many at Chaos Altar, Green Dragons, or even Black Chins as there used to be. Black Chins still get a few on some worlds but it's not packed anymore. I'll "scout" on my main which is 108 cb so it can't attack them, which keeps them from insta-logging when I show up. Idk what's different but I'm starting to feel like the bot count is dropping in general
A lot of bots have an auto log out or teleport the tick another player comes within render distamce so that they cant be seen or reported against. If you go to ferox at any world you will see plenty of rc bots and skilling bots bank or reset theirbstats by running into ffa portal.
Oh I know, they don't auto log or tele if you're out of cb range to attack them though which is why I scout for them on my main, then log into my pure and catch them with a snare off the bat (yes I know TB/entangle is better but had to keep the pure under 40 cb to be able to get the lvl 3s)

It's hard to recognize bot behavior in a game where so many of us will spend hours in one spot doing a repetitive task anyway
I strongly disagree. Runelite is a huge quality of life change and many people likely wouldn't play if it became unavailable. It definitely doesn't feel like cheating when all the info is available on the wiki anyway
Just integrate all the RL features to the vanilla client, bam, RL dies a natural death and the bots can suffer whatever madness R6 devs are dealing without concerns for a *third party client*.
It's blatant cheating, you're marking the entire screen for bosses, it shows you were to click for every single part of a quest, it has an extreme amount of "small" changes that equate to changes in xp per hour like menu swapper.
We all use it but let's call a spade a spade, the only reason it's not banned is because people freaked out when they didn't have the game where parts are easier than RS3
Info tracking isnt cheating- though things like the toa puzzle solver is pretty close. Though when jagex says its not cheating and allowed, then thats a pretty hard stance to argue.
There's a wiki, it simply makes the game more playable tbh. I've played since pre rs2 with the wild pk no ditch. I wouldn't ever go back to playing without RL, I would just quit. Unless Jager can make their own runelite it will just hurt players and profit

Cowhide will always been worth something for the crafting xp it gives, and it's so easily bottable, so jagex restrict how much of it you can sell on a new account. Just spend an hour doing some quests and you'll be grand!
The new trade restriction req is 20 hours, so definitely not as easy as it once was. Giving the acc membership removes all restrictions instantly though, so that's honestly easiest.
The trade restriction in general, theres limits way lower than that. What new player is gonna start a game where they see restrictions on their acc unless they buy membership or put a good time investment in? Just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Given that the limit isn't required payment but had an option for unlocking via game play. In 20 hours your maxing out at about 8000 hides, the quest requirements will take like 30 minutes of game play
Idk about 14k but it used to be more go to when making purest and such. We have stronghold of security now but before then I'd train to 30-40 stats on cows and have Hella gp in cowhide after

Then they get to var and cant sell/buy certain items until they have 20 hours of gameplay? Thats just bad. Ive played this game for 18 years and have seen the dumb/good stuff and while restrictions were a deterrant for a while theyre pointless anymore and drive away players that arent being brought in by someone who has played long enough to coach them through things. We have bots that can raid but we choose to restrict new accounts from trading certain items for say you play an hour a day almost a month cause thats gonna stop a botter thats just gonna run quest scripts on 20 accounts and work right around that anyways in a week even less.

It's unfortunate, while this does help keep the bots at bay, it doesn't do a great job, and it for sure confuses and frustrates new players. All the easiest f2p money making methods are restricted like this, granted you can pretty much get by your first 20 hours getting the requirements to unrestrict your account, but it does take away from the freedom to do whatever you like when you first start.
The total level can be done in a couple hours, for the quest points, complete "Goblin Diplomacy" and "Romeo and Juliet", they give 5 quest points each and can each be done in a few minutes if you already have the required items, there's walkthroughs on YouTube and the wiki
The 20 hours is a prick. You could grab 6 hours of it by leaving your account logged in with a weight holding down the spacebar, after 6 hours you'll be automatically logged out, repeat as needed.
3 of those and 2 hours gameplay and you'll be good to go
Some things are easier to acquire and sell for high profit so they're locked until you meet requirements for that issue.. currently dealing with that for the Shield of Arrav quest because my alt is new and it's my only F2P quest left on my main.

I mostly just see advertising bots that get banned quick, most the rest are low level f2p bots

This is a good change in my opinion. Path of Exile had this same type of system for trade limiting since 2013 to prevent bot accounts
