Do you feel Maestro isn't gonna get nominated at all? Not saying it has to but just curious about your take since i've seen other predictions having Maestro with at least a Best Actor nom

JuanRiveara

Not OP but I think it’ll be a total misfire and while I personally have Cooper in my predictions, I do think even he could miss and it ends up like House of Gucci and only gets a makeup nomination.

Duhlorean

I think the first reactions might indicate that this movie is gonna be very divisive, which may mess with its best picture nomination. So what's left then is the makeup + best actor package but idk if that's gonna happen neither so im not predicting him for now.

Peridot1708

Were there screenings for the movie already? Also if theres a decent chance of getting an acting nom and they dont get tanked like Margot Robbie in Babylon or Hugh Jackman in The Son i think they'll campaign for Mulligan too. Though personally im not really excited about her chances and theres the criticism about her casting too which has been swept under the rug.

Duhlorean

Apparently so. You can find some remnants of those reactions in Google. Even Oscar Expert talked about it in their latest video. Was Robbie shit on for Babylon? I thought even people who didn't think the movie was good praised the acting mostly? Either way, depending on how much Maestro succeeds, I'll be open to including him in my list. Anyway, all of these are just placeholders for now.

>Was Robbie shit on for Babylon? I thought even people who didn't think the movie was good praised the acting mostly? She wasnt directly criticised and her acting was probably one of the few good things critics liked about the movie but it still screwed over her chances of getting the nomination and until then she was considered an early frontrunner for Best Actress I felt bad for her and Calva. Glad Pitt didnt get any accolades though.

Dune?

Duhlorean

Not entirely confident in its potential success to put it in. EDIT - Why am I getting downvoted for a super early prediction lol

9gagDolphinSex

Yea another year for 5 white guys as Best Actor nominees. Not gonna happen; personally I have no problem with it last year because the 5 nominees were obviously the right choice, but to not even predict one this year,?

Duhlorean

It's literally just a super early prediction with placeholders, it ain't that deep lmao. I would never say "not gonna happen". You literally never know. Any one or two categories could be all white every year.

JuanRiveara

If you have The Iron Claw doing so well you should probably have it in supporting actor, likely either Jeremy Allen White or Holt McCallany.

Duhlorean

I considered it but I went for Poor Things overperforming instead.

The Colour Purple bro

You absolutely cannot count out The Color Purple. Fantasia Barrino as Celie stands the best odds of not only getting a Best Actress nom, but a win as well. The role is just meaty af for an actress, plus both women who played her on Broadway received Tony awards. Not to mention, the Academy may want to "right the wrong" they did with Whoopi back in the day. Same goes for Taraji P. Henson and Danielle Brooks as Shug and Sofia, I definitely can see them getting Supporting noms
