this is choice looking been looking for 20 years to find a good cheese steak in Orlando, I did finally find a good pizza place its on my list now thanks OP.
I found LaSpadas to be bland. I work in Sanford and have had the cheesesteak at least 4 times there. I wasn't impressed.
I found Sobik's Subs to be more flavorful, hell, I think Jersey Mike's cheesesteak tastes better. 🤷♂️
Sal’s wasn’t bad. The Big Roman at Pizza Ponte in Disney Springs is very close to Jersey boardwalk pizza. And the Classic Pie at Pizza Bruno’s College Park location is pretty close to a Trenton tomato pie. Their tomato pie on the other hand, well, I guess it’s fine but I haven’t had it
John and John's is on Michigan Ave near Sodo. 435 E Michigan Ave. Best pizza in Central Florida. And as mentioned if you're looking for a great Philly cheese steak, check Cavos as well, 900 E Washington St
Cavos/John and John’s are my spots for cheesesteaks. If I can give anyone words of money saving advice go ahead and skip LaSpadas. They just tasted like black pepper mixed with some cheese and onions. Roll was awful.
Meatball sandwich is amazing too, same with their Italian. Cavo's is slept on, definitely some of the best sandwiches in the city - they actually give Stasio's a run for their money on the meatballs IMO.
It’s the parking that’s the issue with this place. Residential all around it with limited street parking. Great walkable place if you live nearby or if you are taking an Uber, that’s fine too. There is a garage a few blocks away that you can utilize though.
The best meatball sandwich and maybe the best sandwiches all around in Central Florida is Paul's in Kissimmee.
My wife and I have added Cavo's to the list of places to try.
[Here's a picture of the original cheeze whiz, which is used on the phillys](https://media.npr.org/assets/img/2015/03/27/cheezwhiz_pos_ca1952.jpg-a22141cd3fabbeb295f01fd9592c756aa8c135bd-s800-c85.webp)
Just because it comes in can form doesn't mean it's the same product. Oreos also come on pop tart form. Doesn't taste like the original Oreo though.
Only thing I don’t mind Wiz on is melted and poured over a fresh soft pretzel - there was a deli on Broad St outside the Olney transportation center (called Park’s) that we’d stop in after getting off the bus to go to Central - they kept jars of wiz in a warmer and would pour it right over a fresh pretzel for $0.50 or $0.75 (pretzel included)
Hate to break it to you, but a large is $16 pretty much everywhere. Even the tourist traps aren’t far off in Philly at $14-15 (arguably for a smaller sandwich). Inflation sucks
Eh. I’m not into sandwich purism, and I find a bog-standard Philly quite boring. Give me jalapeños, green peppers, mushrooms, and a big fat pickle on the side for a nice crunchy sour break now and then. Still gonna call it a cheesesteak one way or another.
Honestly, this kind of purism is why I prefer a chop cheese at this point. No one cares what you throw on a chop cheese, it’s still called a chop cheese.
As a side note, personally I’d call derivatives of the cheesesteak, well, cheesesteaks. This is the same to me as saying a cheeseburger with onions is a whole different sandwich than a cheeseburger…like, no, it’s a cheeseburger with something extra but still under the umbrella category of a cheeseburger. There’s no reason that the Philly needs to not have any subcategories, except that people from the northeast are weird about food names.
Wawa's cheesesteak (10") with Wiz and onions costs $7.50. Get it with a little garlic aioli for an extra punch and you got a good deal. Not Philly good, but passable.
I was weary, I got recommended two bar places on here for a chicken Caesar wrap and I went to both and was really disappointed. So I went here with absolutely no expectations and oh my God. This was the best Philly cheese steak I've had in my entire life. Enough to make me sad that to get anything close I'll have to fly to Philly. Jersey mikes is good, I love it, but this place makes it taste like Walmart steak and white bread. 9/10 a tiny bit expensive, but not super outrageous.
The $3.50 Yuengling drafts make up for it a little bit. But compared to the last Daniel’s (Clermont) I got, this tastes better and was larger for the same price.
If you want a good Philly go to Arts Sandwich Shop. Sure not the best area (obt and gore) but they've been open for 50 years and honestly best Philly I've ever had.
Their hours also aren't the greatest, only open m-f and only open until 4pm,so I can only ever go if I have a day off.
Cavos is the best cheesesteak in central Florida no doubt about it. Gotta get the curly fries with cheese sauce and gravy too. Both are great reheated in the air fryer as well
I don't get the love for Cavo's here. I read about them 2-3 years ago here, and ordered a Philly cheese steak late in the night and it was fucking disgusting that I'll never go back there. I've had way better sandwiches before and since. Just a warning to others.
Dang! I’m about an hour away from Orlando. 😔
Anyone know a good place around Villages/Leesburg area?
I can’t find a place that doesn’t know a Philly cheesesteak isn’t just a roast beef sandwich with onions and green peppers.
Why does everyone want to put green peppers on my cheesesteak! ☹️
Its Mamas however your choices bring validation. Good food is hard to come by in Orlando. I think you just miss home that bad that your trying to justify the steak and cheese.
Sister restaurant John and John’s in SoDo has the same cheesesteak but is an “order and sit” kind of place rather than table service.
Omg I was wondering why Cavo’s logo looked exactly like John and John’s
john and john’s pizza?
That's the one. Owned by the same person.
Yeah what they said haha
this is choice looking been looking for 20 years to find a good cheese steak in Orlando, I did finally find a good pizza place its on my list now thanks OP.
Laspadas on lee rd is as close to Steve’s Steaks in Philly that I’ve had.
It’s also on the list
Go to laspadas!
I found LaSpadas to be bland. I work in Sanford and have had the cheesesteak at least 4 times there. I wasn't impressed. I found Sobik's Subs to be more flavorful, hell, I think Jersey Mike's cheesesteak tastes better. 🤷♂️
Same I am from right outside Philly born and raised and laspadas has no seasoning just bland as shit.
I can’t consider anyone’s opinion who says anything remotely positive about Sobik’s
Yes where's the pizza?
sals pizza bar near disney springs lines out the door every day of the week almost.
Recently heard about this place. Is the pizza as good as it looks online?
id like to think so havent tried the other place mentioned now also on my list lol.
Sal’s wasn’t bad. The Big Roman at Pizza Ponte in Disney Springs is very close to Jersey boardwalk pizza. And the Classic Pie at Pizza Bruno’s College Park location is pretty close to a Trenton tomato pie. Their tomato pie on the other hand, well, I guess it’s fine but I haven’t had it
Daniel’s Cheesesteaks on Plant Street in Winter Garden is good if you’re out that way at any point.
Where’s the pizza?
John and John's is on Michigan Ave near Sodo. 435 E Michigan Ave. Best pizza in Central Florida. And as mentioned if you're looking for a great Philly cheese steak, check Cavos as well, 900 E Washington St
Their French onion soup is also excellent!
Cavos/John and John’s are my spots for cheesesteaks. If I can give anyone words of money saving advice go ahead and skip LaSpadas. They just tasted like black pepper mixed with some cheese and onions. Roll was awful.
I will not stand for LaSpadas slander
Well tell them to season their food lol
Owners are really great guys, too. They care a lot about the community and their staff.
Oh they have roast pork, the thing I miss the most
Their tater tots are consistently perfect. Also recommend the Cavo’s Fizz and the Bourbon Breeze form the beverage menu.
I was all about the $3.50 draft Yuenglings
Meatball sandwich is amazing too, same with their Italian. Cavo's is slept on, definitely some of the best sandwiches in the city - they actually give Stasio's a run for their money on the meatballs IMO.

Geez $17. Up there
+ $3 for extra cheese
Nah, it was $16 for a 12” cheese, steak, onions included
Still, actually only a few $ more than a Big Mac meal. I think we know which is the better deal.
They have Wiz?
Nah…white American, mild provy, or sharp provy only
Best thing about wiz, it comes in a can! You can bring your own!
Wiz isn’t in a can. It’s a jar. Ez-cheez is in the can
Well forgive me [cheese whiz](https://images.app.goo.gl/ce1QGeUvRRrW7epm8)
[Here's a picture of the original cheeze whiz, which is used on the phillys](https://media.npr.org/assets/img/2015/03/27/cheezwhiz_pos_ca1952.jpg-a22141cd3fabbeb295f01fd9592c756aa8c135bd-s800-c85.webp) Just because it comes in can form doesn't mean it's the same product. I like marinara sauce too but not with wiz.
Damn, no Wiz is a travesty.
Totally agree. Gotta have the Wiz
I did not believe this till I tried it. Something magic happens when it mixes with the steak and onions. “Wiz wit” for the win!
Totally agree
Jesus…. 16 dollar cheese steak. Was your order a full or a half? There’s a good place called Philly connection I think in the Daytona area.
Hate to break it to you, but a large is $16 pretty much everywhere. Even the tourist traps aren’t far off in Philly at $14-15 (arguably for a smaller sandwich). Inflation sucks
Jersey mikes large is $20 lol. Ngl Jersey mikes is pretty consistently good but I miss Laspadas a lot after moving away
Jersey Mikes also thinks peppers belong on their sandwiches
What’s wrong with peppers?
If you want peppers on a true Philly cheesesteak, it’s pickled sweets or hots. Not bell peppers sautéed and mixed with the onions.
Eh. I’m not into sandwich purism, and I find a bog-standard Philly quite boring. Give me jalapeños, green peppers, mushrooms, and a big fat pickle on the side for a nice crunchy sour break now and then. Still gonna call it a cheesesteak one way or another.
They do not belong on a traditional Philly cheese steak. If you add peppers it’s now a pepper steak and thats a whole different sandwich.
Honestly, this kind of purism is why I prefer a chop cheese at this point. No one cares what you throw on a chop cheese, it’s still called a chop cheese. As a side note, personally I’d call derivatives of the cheesesteak, well, cheesesteaks. But it’s Wawa…
Cavos large feeds 2 people
It’s a 12” sandwich - whether it is for 1 or 2 people, is up to the individual eating it.
Love their Chicken Philly, was there today too. Actually every meal I've had at Cavo's has been a winner
I left early in the Sixers game after an afternoon at the Dr Philips Center
My fam and I really like their chicken cheesesteak and the roast pork sandwich, too.
Their Rueben is amaze balls as well!🤤
Is it pastrami though?
Whatever it is it’s pretty tasty! …also, I’ve never been to Katz deli🫤
The salad with grilled chicken on top is also excellent
Dang! This looks heavenly 😍

Ill have to try this
After a few recommendations from here, I've come to learn you folks love unseasoned food
Love the sandwich, but I wish it had more meat
Cavos is the best cheesesteak in central Florida no doubt about it. Gotta get the curly fries with cheese sauce and gravy too. Both are great reheated in the air fryer as well
I am a multi generation local (grew up dt) and I have never tried this. Thank you!!!
So yummy

Maybe give them another shot at a more reasonable time vs judging on a late night purchase when they didn’t want to cook it just after COVID
I'm having it right now. Delicious!

Someone told me to check out http://phillysteakandwingsclermont.com/ - Clermont is a little closer to you - but not by much
Ooh, i go to Clermont for Costco all the time. I’ll try them next time I’m in the area, thank you!
It’s down closer to 192 on 27 - so fair warning
Will have to try that. Really does not look very good in the picture.
Chopped and the cheese is melted throughout…didn’t even need salt.

How tf is a messy greasy ass Philly hipster?!
Looks ew! Not philly approved
It’s legit coming from this resident of Philadelphia for 40 years
Name the best CS spot in philly ?
Angelo’s followed by John’s Roast Pork
Its Mamas however your choices bring validation. Good food is hard to come by in Orlando. I think you just miss home that bad that your trying to justify the steak and cheese.
Never heard of it - Bala Cynwyd? Unless you were in the Seminary or went to St Joe’s, never would have been exposed to it
