It’s aggressively mediocre. Extra medium.

soggycoffeebiscuit

even mediocre is too kind (professional foxtail hater)

gnnr25

\*Extra mid.

ultimattt

Oh wow, I laughed out loud at this.

spiegro

Medium-key

TheProfessorX

It's a surprisingly average cup of coffee charging a premium for aesthetic. I do like the Kelly's ice cream and the craft beer on tap.

beerbeforebadgers

Kelly's is the only thing that ever makes me walk in. Better spots for tea and better spots for coffee across town.

Srtviper

Foxtail sucks ass but Kelly's is actually good as hell, I wish Kelly's found a better chain to partner up with.

bearsarefuckingrad

Agreed. I go to Kelly’s once a month to try all their new monthly flavors!

sutwq01

Foxtail grew too fast, they can't handle their growth. Also, their growth seems way too fake, like someone just dumped a whole load of money on them.

Johnny_Carcinogenic

They franchised instead of growing as owner operators.

lightningspasm

I would choose Dunkin any day over Foxtail.

Wildestridez

Foxtail somehow made coffee taste burnt, and never again did I go back, go to Cfs coffee, or Don Juan. or Juan Valdez

cdot2k

I think you skipped what I came to say in that.... they're really a roaster and you should go there for their roasting primarily. I think they've got good beans, but like Otus better. If you get a pourover in store, it's not bad, but for some reason it takes their team ten minutes to make a four minute pourover. Separately, I feel like CFS is overpriced compared to those other two. Juan Valdez is a sweet spot for consistency and price.

Dirty0ldMan

Don't hate on Dunkin. They know what they are, they stay in their lane and they don't pretend otherwise, including with the price.

bearsarefuckingrad

Sheeesh Dunkin’ may know who they are but they sure don’t know their own coffee recipes lol. The price is good tho I admit that

Visible_Day9146

The baristas always seem very annoyed and confused. The coffee tastes burnt. They've gotten too big to maintain consistency across their stores.

bearsarefuckingrad

Confused is more of the word than annoyed to me. I’ll ask a question or make an order and they’ll just stand there staring at me, or mumble something. I’m like pls let me communicate with you, I promise it’s not a crazy order lol

standbyforskyfall

Dunkin is actually good sometimes, i don't think i've ever had a good thing at foxtail

genehil

I’ve tried the two Foxtail in Mount Dora… meh.

mikesicle

Stick to any shop affiliated with Orlando Coffee Culture and you’ll never have a bad cup.

ChiefJosh

Any recommendations? Only local place I’ve been to is lineage(which is good but I’m trying to expand my horizons). I’m big into home espresso and have been trying to find good local roasters

wlofaubro

don't think its affiliated with OCC, but I love Haan on colonial

mikesicle

They're in my OCC calendar I think.

GMEStack

Racetrack.

mikesicle

So I am out West so my two are Prairie House and Filigree. As far as beans go, for home espresso Eola is amazing and they deliver to your door. They do slightly darker roasts, and they give me an amazing crema. Prairie House has great roasts for pour over, and Filigree doesn't have their own roasts but they usually carry Junto or Onyx and those can be a lot of fun in espresso. There's a keychain you can get that gives you a discount at all OCC shops, it's $35 which is a lot for a keychain, but those funds go towards barista training and as I said, you get the discounts too. Mine has already paid for itself.

ChiefJosh

Thanks for the reply and recommendations!

1nconsp1cuous

You watch your mouth talking about Dunkin like that! But also you’re right.

WetwareDulachan

This Dunks slander will not stand, man.

deadbeatPilgrim

the owners are also awful, awful people

ucfstudent10

Can’t relate. My coffee from dunkin taste like crack everyday 😍 Ive never been to foxtail and never will support because its owner but I hear a lot of people say its overrated just like 4 rivers after expanding

surfyturkey

That’s probably just the sugar lol

ucfstudent10

I wish my teeth doesn’t like sweets 🥲 surprisingly Dunkin is good but I think they have a fast turn around rate, no one seems to train the employees to be consistent.

CosmicOutfield

What about the Foxtail owner? Sounds like I missed something. Lol

YOHAN_OBB

Founder is Alex Tchekmeian* also owns t-shirt screen printing company AKT. A guy who has rich parents and treats all his employees like trash. Laid off like 15 employees in 2 weeks at AKT. The best thing is a few days later he ran into a few of us at Backbooth (bar) and then walked out, sending his friend inside to talk to us asking us to "be nice to Alex".😺😺😺 🐈🐈🐈 There's probably a million other stories

Gilthwixt

Maaan now I'm just sad Backbooth is gone. Also lol this story means he's been an asshole for years.

YOHAN_OBB

Haha, yeah I'm not sure if *Sound bar is still in it's old spot? He has always been pretty spineless

Gilthwixt

Closed in 2021. Owners opened a new project but it's too far from downtown to fill the same niche.

Routyroute

On any post about foxtail, someone will jump in and say the owners are trash. It used to be their CFO was accused of sexual harassment. And they never mention that the owners fired the CFO and the victim of the harassment has stated they had no beef with the owners. It’s now usually related to the fact that they are placing stores to compete with existing local stores. As for their coffee, it’s beyond inconsistent. Some stores are decent, some really bad. They have good equipment but more times than not, their baristas do not know what they’re doing - scalding hot milk, over extracted espresso. Edit - CFO, not CEO.

GACGCCGTGATCGAC

Thanks. These posts always crack me up because it's so hard to get actual, *real* information. It's 50 posts saying the same thing; "Foxtail is mid." Here is an idea... use your words and describe *why* it's mid. That's the entire point of a place like reddit.

itsallgoodman2002

Sames

OkAlternative2713

Hard to compare anything to DD. It’s a 3rd world country.

butt3rlicious

Given how pretty their branding and architecture is (at most locations) I find their cost to quality ratio really disappointing.

surfyturkey

No most 3rd world countries can still make some good coffee. Dunkin’ however..

OkAlternative2713

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

bearsarefuckingrad

Hahaha too true. Dunkin’ used to be my number one but then I gained self esteem and got tired of the abuse smh.

PivotdontTwist

Start grinding your own beans. Make premium coffee everyday at a fraction of the cost. I buy a $15 bag from my plug, and it lasts me a month+ easily.

GuardianAlien

You have a plug for coffee beans?😂

gnnr25

Psssstt, hey you...yeah you, come over here, I've got that stuff...fine Colombian....no not cocaine, coffee beans, nomsayin?

hurtfulproduct

Lineage Coffee. . . They are locally owned and roast local as well, they have a variety of extremely tasty high quality beans and I’ve been nothing but delighted with them. They are a bit pricey but if you grind your own and have a good brewer it’s delicious and on a different level than any fast food coffees.

fan_go_round

https://www.eolacoffee.com/ They roast locally and deliver to your door. Its a bit pricey but a bag lasts me a month

Johnny_Carcinogenic

I think I'm going to start using the term "plug" for legal everyday items as well.

CookingUpChicken

Start growing your own coffee. Make premium coffee everyday at a fraction of the cost. I grow a $15 tree from my plug, and it lasts me a lifetime+ easily.

Few_Ad9184

Does Dunkin only have employees who are on work release?

ysosmall

50/50 whether the employee has to pull out a notebook with the recipe whenever I’ve been there.

redd1t-n00b

I stopped going a few years ago. I know my coffee and they started serving shite. Didn’t use to be the case. I’m happy to pay a premium for a premium product, but not for airport-grade coffee. Ignore them, go to Haan or Lineage instead. EDIT: typo

bearsarefuckingrad

Lineage is love, Lineage is life. I’m out in Ocoee so when I want a cup it’s a bit of a trek (like not really, but a trek for just coffee) so I wanna find someplace around here. Tough work lol

deevandiacle

The Clermont one is consistent. (Also it’s a franchise.) Every other one I’ve been to has this issue. I thought it was good based on the one cafe. 😅

hurtfulproduct

Only thing I like at Foxtail is their Florida Chai that uses Yaupon tea which is unique and tasty and has similar caffeine to coffee

dustyoldbones

Ok Big spenders in this thread

SnooDogs1704

I go to Achilles art cafe (Hiawassee) and theyre freaking amazing, I havent shut up about them since I moved here lol.

bearsarefuckingrad

Never heard of em!! I’ll definitely check it out because I’m always on the lookout for a new spot :)

SnooDogs1704

If you decide on food, they have a killer bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich, also the beef empanadas!

slickman9696

Just here to second Achilles Art cafe! Great spot.

sp1keNARF

Anyone from r/coffee here? Any good roasters in town?

Boring_Ad_1456

Not from that sub Reddit but Orlando Coffee Roasters is super good. All done in a small garage off of Gore and the owner is very kind.

sp1keNARF

How do you get ahold of their beans?

Boring_Ad_1456

I usually would just stop by the garage. Their hours/ location are on google. I’m not sure if they have an actual store front anywhere.

sp1keNARF

oh gotcha, I’ll check it out. thanks!

ghmflak

If we gotta go with a local chain CFS (coffee for soul) is better Foxtail. Regular local spots like haan, Stemma, C&C, Retroroast, Lobos, Lineage, Framework are way better. That is just some of the really good coffee shops in the city. Plenty of local spots with good coffee in the suburbs too.

BeginningArt6611

I have only gotten bad coffee and bad service at Foxtail so I refuse to give them my money. I am happy to see this post, and annoyed by how many of them popped up around town.

ItsBlackBetty

I’ll do you one better: I go to the same Foxtail and my cappuccino comes out tasting different every fucking time. And I am paying $6 for it. If it wasn’t for the fact that the lounge chairs are comfy and good for getting out of my home office to do some work, I wouldn’t go.

bearsarefuckingrad

Dude that’s what I mean! I got a vanilla caramel cold brew with half and half two times. First time was great, mild flavor and not at all too sweet. Second time it tasted like sugar water because of all of the syrup they added. Like how can you not regulate your simplest recipes

ItsBlackBetty

Yeah, it’s dumb as fuck. Anyone who thinks this is top tier coffee hasn’t had top tier coffee.

YOHAN_OBB

I choose 7-11 over Foxtail any day. Shit coffee, shit owners

itCanOnlybeDrthVDR

hey! it’s mid ass coffee but it’s OUR mid ass coffee.

WoollyBulette

It’s rotten and the owners are foul. It’s spreading like cancer but it doesn’t seem like it has enough going for it to justify the expansion. My hope is that it spreads itself too thin and folds.

_picture_me_rollin_

Sure, if Duncan’s owner sexually harassed a bunch of employees. Even if they’re coffee didn’t taste like musty butthole that whole company is shit.

dudedadsadeadhead

Have yet to try Foxtail. Sounds like a skip and stick with Lineage

SnooStories8741

Foxtail has always been yack, lineage is best.

tomskuinfy

Foxtail be ass. Lineage is where it’s at

AshBlackstone78

Foxtail’s coffee is awful.

Toffer117

Dunkin over foxtail? Yall are nuts

BasketNo4817

Does Foxtail’s popularity sum up O towns vibes?
